Closed CHAOS TENT Kim's Band of Mischievous Miscreants

Sticking with the pirate theme of the exterior, the interior of the tent assigned to Kim's Band of Mischievous Miscreants was essentially a scurvy-ridden, booty plunderin' adventure waiting to happen.

Despite the seemingly-splintered wooden walls' dryness, they consistently managed to appear to be damp with seawater. In the corner of the room was a near-bottomless keg filled with juice, surrounded by faux-gold-handled wooden tankards.

Five bunk beds lined the walls on side of the tent opposite the entrance, with an empty wooden treasure chest at the head and foot of each bunk, for storing supplies and other odds and ends. As it was, the only things in the chests were staple pirate items for each student: eyepatches, loose white poet shirts befitting a swashbuckler, and various types of pirate hats and trousers. However, they were just waiting for the personal effects of each student to help make the tent feel 'lived-in.'

In the center of the tent was a decently large wooden table, worn and chipped on the edges and surrounded by wooden stools. It was perfect for plotting an adventure full of plunder and pillaging.

The blank walls of the tent - while appearing sopping wet - were actually quite dry, so they would make quite the suitable canvas for the artistically inclined. An enchanted gramophone lay on the counter near the juice keg, waiting for the command to start its music.

For the dark nights, simple lanterns were scattered throughout the tent, ready to be used for late night camaraderie.

All in all, it was a tent ripe for adventures and fun.

Quinn wasn't ment to be here. She was going to be spending summer with her grandmother, that's what she had told people. In all honesty she didn't want to be at camp, she wanted to be with her family. The only reason she was there was because her grandmother had passed, and her summer was cut short. Quinn's mother had suggested going to camp so that she could be with her friends. Quinn's closet friend Colin wasn't going to be there as far as Quinn knew. A few good acquaintances where there, Kim was.

She would be staying in the same tent as him, the chaos tent. She would stay there with his friends. With her bags in hand she opened up the tent she was staying in. The tent was bigger on the inside, magic. Not surprised by the change Quinn went to place her bags with clothes, Personal hygiene, and stuff to remind her of home on one of the bottom bunks.

The room had five bunks in total, with enough room for ten people. At the front of the bunks where chests. Not seeing anything else to do Quinn opened it, finding pirate costumes inside. The theme was obviously pirates. Quinn picked up.one of the eye patches and put it on. Now avoiding in packaging, as well as trying to distract herself.

Well, it was official.
Gemima was going to summer camp. She wasn't sure how to feel about it yet. Her parents had basically forced her to go, effectively throwing her hometown re-exploration plans out the window. Cath was off doing some activity of her own creation, the lucky bastard. Her big sister seemed to be totally outside her parents' sphere of influence by this point, and they'd resorted to focusing solely on Gem.

And here she was, wading through the sea of students. She held her breath and tried to focus on reassuring herself. It was going to be fun! Sure, there might be loads of strangers, and scary games to sign up for, but she was a changed girl! The type of girl who wasn't afraid of trying new things, or meeting new people. Besides, Gem was pretty sure that some of her friends would be here as well.

At last, she came upon her desired destination--the tents.
Gem nervously surveyed the multicolored lodgings. Which one was she supposed to choose? She trembled where she stood, racking her brain for some sort of instruction. Finally, her gaze landed on a tent that looked... jauntier than the others. CHAOS, the sign above the entrance read.
Gem exhaled slowly. Right! That was the tent she had been assigned to, wasn't it? She was on the right track, after all. The dark haired girl tightened her backpack straps around her shoulders, and strode straight into the belly of the beast.

She was greeted with an amusing sight. The whole tent felt like a pirate-themed attraction at some muggle theme park, complete with a chests overflowing with swashbuckler gear. Gem giggled, and walked over to a bed. She set her backpack on the bottom bunk's blanket, then hastened to rummage through her chest of goodies.
After a good deal of searching, she giddily fitted a deep burgundy captain's hat atop her head. It went perfectly with her sailor outfit. "What a happy coincidence!" she exclaimed. "Maybe camp won't be so bad after all."

Suddenly, Gem became aware of another person in the room. She spun around to see a girl about her age standing by an adjacent bunk.
"Sorry! I didn't know that I wasn't the first one here!" Gem sputtered. She blushed, and wound her fingers in the cloth of her skirt. The girl looked vaguely familiar. Perhaps she also went to Hogwarts. Gem took a deep breath and tried to regain her composure.

"I don't think we've met... I'm Gemima, although my friends call me Gem. What's your name?" Hopefully she hadn't squandered her chance at a good first impression.

Sophia walked happily along the rows of tents, eager for summer festivities to begin. The only summer camps she'd been to in her life were Church-hosted ones, and they'd been very strict about the kinds of activities, and reasonably so. This was her first opportunity to explore what 'secular' summer camps were all about, and she was looking forward to it.

Kim had mentioned something about signing them up for a tent, so thankfully, all she had to do was look for her name on a roster somewhere. She browsed the various tents and her eyes settled on one called 'Chaos', decorated with a depiction of a great seaward battle. This was the one she knew Kim would choose, and she would have done the same.

She looked onto the roster posted on the front of the tent and smiled when she saw her name.

Squeezing into the tent, Sophia was overwhelmed with the pirate theme. It was no secret that she loved pirates. Being a self-proclaimed nerd in the muggle world, she'd often fantasized about being a pirate as a little girl. This tent was perfect, and her eyes couldn't drink in the sights fast enough.

What was her first goal? Was it the keg in the corner, likely filled with pumpkin juice, knowing Hogwarts and its love for the strange juice? Maybe the gramophone? She'd never seen one in person before. Perhaps she should drop off her small backpack - which contained nothing but a few changes of clothes and some sunscreen - at one of the bunks?

With her path decided, Sophia ran happily over to the bunks, bare feet thudding across the wooden floor. Frankly, it should have surprised her that a small tent would have a large interior with a wooden floor, but it didn't. She'd spent a year at Hogwarts, after all. Surprises were hard to come by for her these days.

She was vaguely aware of the other two people inside the tent as she plopped her backpack onto the top of one of the bunks, but her attention was too focused elsewhere to acknowledge their existence.

Yep. Sophia had discovered the small chests at the head and foot of each bunk. She rummaged happily through one of the chests, throwing on an eyepatch and quickly changing into one of the outfits within. A swashbuckler's top, a fairly risque -for Sophia- skirt, a simple pair of boots, and a red bandana.

Grabbing a toy cutlass from within one of the chests, she climbed atop one of the bunk beds.

This sort of attire, and behavior, was entirely unfitting for Sophia Maria Nelson, but Sophia Maria Nelson was no longer standing here.

No, in her place was Captain Bluemane the Fierce, captain of the Raven's Claw.

Her medium length blue hair was clashing perfectly with the red bandana as she held her cutlass in front of her with her left hand in a dramatic pose, resting her right hand on her hip.

Finally, she acknowledged the other two in the room.

"If'n ye seek to belong to me crew, come forth and swear your loyalty. Else, if'n ye be searchin' for me treasure, ye'll have te get through Captain Bluemane the Fierce," she said in lieu of a greeting.

Flourishing her cutlass in what she hoped was a practiced grace, Captain Bluemane eyed the other two inhabitants of the ship carefully. Hopefully they'd join her!

She was not the only one it the tent, there was another girl, To Quinn it looked like she also had rummaged through on of the chests. She was wearing a Burgundy captains hat. She had apologized to her saying she didn't know that there was another person there. "You don't have to apologize, I didn't see you here either" The hat she had on went well with her outfit, She looked nervous. Or possibly embarrassed? She didn't know why. Quinn was also dressed up, with her eye patch.

She introduced her self as Gemima Stable, and told Quinn that her friends called her Gem. "I'm Quinn, Quinn Root. My friends call me Quinn" She smiled at Gemima, wondering if she could call her Gem? Or if she should just call her Gemima seeing as they just met.

Someone else found the chests of adventure, and took it quite literally. She had blue hair, and called themselves Captain Bluemane. She looks like she was having fun. Quinn looked at Gemima. Shrugged and went with it. She stepped forward and talked to the self proclaimed captain.

"Aye Captain! I am.." She paused trying to think of a clever name like the girl.in front of her had. "I be the one, one eyed Quinn! I will join ye here crew" she was attempting to talk like a 'pirate'.

As soon as she received her childhood friend's owl asking her to join summer camp, Regina had packed her things into her enchanted satchel and headed towards the London Quidditch Stadium on her brand new Moontrimmer. Now that she knew perfectly well where she stood with her toxic parents, she wasn't going to cater to their rules anymore. For the entirety of July she'd been lucky enough to be taken into the Mirador Manor for refuge after running away for the first time, thanks to her new friend. However, Regina didn't wish to be a burden on Draven any longer and decided to take up Kim's invitation and spend the rest of summer holidays with him and his friends...who were practically strangers to her.

Still, anything was better than coming back to her gilded prison.

Athena, her ever loyal great white owl, flew alongside Regina as she headed for her destination. It wasn't a really long flight as she was very acquainted with Wizarding London, and the land was smooth and easy with Athena on her shoulder as the young witch walked through the bustling crowd of other camp participants setting up their tents. Now that she was fully embracing her new persona, she'd opted for a rebellious grunge aesthetic for her outfit of the day. The raven-haired Pureblood's strides were purposeful and confident as orchid eyes searched for the right tent that Kiki had mentioned in his owl...Chaos. There it was.

Along with three other girls Regina had never seen before.

Her gaze was skeptical as she scanned the interior of where she was going to stay for an entire month. Bunk beds and some childish decorations to imitate Muggle pirates...how eccentric. It wasn't the lavish quarters of the Miller Manor that Regina had given up this summer, but at least she didn't have to deal with furious parents and a wicked older sister.

"Greetings," She spoke to the girls with a bland expression, adjusting the satchel on the opposite shoulder of where Athena was perched on as she walked to the living area and debated on which bed to claim.

Emma had been glad to see that she had already been signed up for a tent before her arrival although she had to wonder who had done it. She hadn’t seen any of the other names, only been instructed on which tent to look for and so she had anxiously turned and made her way into the sea of tents that seemed to have consumed a field. But to be fair, there were quite a few students who were attending, so they needed quite a few tents.

Emma had dressed casually, longer khaki shorts and thick strapped, royal purple tank top with a pair of old sneakers on her feet. Coordinated it was not, but it was comfy and Emma was very much about comfort, especially as she had no idea of what was to come. She had made friends in her first year but she had no clue if she’d see them what with the mass of students or if they'd already made plans to share a tent with others.

She had managed to talk her parents into letting her take Owlbert at least, and while she had made the point that it would make things easier to keep in contact so that they could be assured all was well, it had also been a comfort thing, because even if she didn’t end up among friends or friendly people, then at least she’d have someone to talk to. Honestly, she thought her parents had known about the second reason, because they were the ones who had encouraged her to attend the summer camp, even though it was a month long and then she’d head back to school. They couldn’t be worried about her if they were sending her away like that, or maybe they had just wanted her to have fun, who knew what parents thought?

Coming across a tent that she thought could be hers, Emma looked at the roster, noting that a Kim was on there. She had to think a moment before recalling a friendly face from the time capsule, but she smiled at the memory, however brief it was. Emma looked further down the list and recognized Pax. It must be the one they had done the cleaning detention for, because it was such a unique name. Further her eyes went down the list, until she reached a name that was very familiar and one that she was not sure she would be able to share a tent with for a whole month. She still felt shaken from her encounter with Regina Miller and Draven Mirador. She had made strides in attempting to become better at the spells she did know and she hoped that she would soon be on the dueling team so that she could further hone the skills necessary to duel so that if a situation like that happened again, she would be fine. Looking nervously at Owlbert, who was in his tiny cage so he didn’t get lost, Emma said “It’ll be fine right? You’ll protect me?” The words gave her a little bit of courage to move forward instead of turning right around and finding a way out of the situation, silly as they were.

Taking a deep breath, she walked into the tent and grinned shyly, lowering her gaze a bit as she took in the costumes that had already been discovered. Looking around, she spotted Regina who had already arrived. It was too bad as Emma could have used the time to settle or maybe build up her nerve or more than likely talk herself into running away. Taking a step back, Emma shakily said, “You…..stay away.” Very convincing, Emma thought to herself, edging as far to the other side of the tent as possible. Looking at the others who were already there again, Emma blushed a further shade of red, whispering quietly. “Sorry, that’s…not really a great introduction.” She kept Regina in her peripheral vision as she stopped where she was and waited to see what bed she could claim.

The girl--Quinn-- didn't seem too perturbed by Gem's awkward rambling, but the latter was still pink with embarrassment. She cleared her throat and inclined her head with practiced politeness. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Quinn." There! Crisis averted. For now, anyway.
Just then, a familiar face bounded into the tent. Gem brightened and straightened her pirate hat. "Hi, Soph--!"

Sophia zoomed past her, tossing her luggage onto a bunk before making a beeline for a costume chest. Gem snorted as Quinn and Soph--No, Bluemane and One Eyed Quinn-- established their fair crew. She wasted no time bolting up from her seat and taking a place beside them. She'd never really taken the time to play pretend before, but her imagination was already whirring with ideas for her own pirate name.

Finally, she planted her hands on her hips, tipped her hat to the two of them, and proudly proclaimed: "Ahoy! The name's Long Gem Silver, and don't you forget it!"
She grinned and held out her hand to the Captain. "I'm raring to join your crew!" Her pirate voice was a little rough, but she didn't mind. She felt giddy all of a sudden, and her previous anxiety had all but vanished. This was fun!

There was a rustling at the tent's entrance, and another girl stalked through its opening. She was wearing a pair of dark sunglasses, which added to her already powerful presence.
Gem smiled, and took a step forward to greet her. She especially wanted to compliment the girl on her outfit; it was grungy, yet still extremely stylish. She raised her arm to wave, but then the girl stopped in her tracks and looked at them all.
"Greetings." she said, flatly. Even though Gem couldn't see her eyes, she felt as if they were burning a hole right through her. Gem's hand slowly dropped to her side, and her and she cautiously watched the newcomer as she moved past the pirate trio without a second glance.

Before she had time to process what had happened, another girl entered the tent. Gem brightened and stepped towards her. This person looked friendlier, at least. But then the redhead's sunny smile faltered as she spotted the girl with sunglasses. She stepped backwards, and as she spoke, she almost seemed... afraid?

Gem scoffed to herself and glanced back at Sophia and Quinn. Where had the jaunty atmosphere gone? The tension in the room was becoming uncomfortable.
"It's...nice to meet you two," Gem piped up, albeit hesitantly. She cleared her throat. "My name's Gemima, although my friends call me Gem. Uh, will you be joining our little crew here?"
Her voice cracked at the end of her sentence, but she still managed to give what she hoped was a welcoming smile.

Bluemane paced atop her Captain's mound - a bunkbed for those with no imagination - and eyed her first crew member carefully. Adjusting her bandana with her right hand, the captain carefully kept her cutlass raised in her left. After a moment of contemplation, the pirate lord hopped down from the Captain's mound, bending her knees to cushion her landing.

She wildly flailed her cutlass about, this way and that, narrowly missing her newly formed crew with the pirate's blade.

Without the formality of asking her crew member to kneel, Bluemane swaggered over, resting the blade on each shoulder of the girl.

"Aye, ye be the great One-Eyed Quinn, master Sharpshooter and lookout, eh?" she drawled, sauntering over to the keg. Grabbing one of the nearby tankards, she filled it with grog - juice, for those without an imagination. Swallowing the entire contents of the tankard with one gulp, she jauntily walked back over to the One-Eyed Quinn.

"Word travels far of yer feats wit' a cannon and a blunderbuss. Ye belong in the Crow's Nest, o'er thar!" she instructed, pointing at the crow's nest - one of the bunkbeds - with her sword.

Captain Bluemane then turned her attention to the other prospective crew member, a bonnie lass who'd introduced herself as 'Long Gem Silver.' She swaggered over to the girl, eyeing her up and down.

"Rarin' te join me crew, are ye?" she asked with a sly smirk. "Der be somethin' to be said about eagerness, O sweet bonnie lass, but can ye match it with yer skill with a blade or blunderbuss?"

She grabbed the hat from atop Long Gem Silver's head, inspecting it carefully, inside and out. After a moment longer, she nodded, seemingly satisfied. She plopped the hat back onto Long Gem Silver's head once more, and it was only a bit crooked. She closed the distance between the two so that they were nose-to-nose, locking her own eyes of green onto the darker eyes of the prospective crewmate.

Nodding minutely after seeing something she was looking for in those eyes, she pulled back.

"With or without the steel at yer hip, ye be possessin' steel in yer eyes. I dub thee me own firs' mate, savvy?" she declared, grabbing the hat from Long Gem Silver's head and plopping it onto her own blue haired noggin.

Just then, the ship was boarded by an intruder!

"Lower the sails, ye scurvy land-dogs! We be under attack!" she shouted at the top of her lungs, rallying her lazy crew to work.

Keeping a safe distance from the intruder and her fierce violet eyes, Captain Bluemane raised her sword in a line in front of her.

"Who be ye?" she asked the intruder confidently. "Be ye a prospective crewmate, or be ye an intruder? Yer bird be mighty fine, but ye come before us with yer loyalty unproven!"

Just then, another intruder did appear, and the captain shot the lookout - the great One-Eyed Quinn - an exasperated look.

"Are ye not the lookout? Some warnin' would be mighty fine, wouldn't it?" she quipped, before she noticed that the new intruder seemed afraid of the old intruder. Interesting.

"Ye there, Carrot-Head the Red," she dubbed the girl, on account of her blushing appearance and red hair. "Yer bird be mighty beautiful too. Shame ye keep 'er locked in a cage. Doth ye seek a crew with which to pillage and plunder in the name o' yer leader, Captain Bluemane the Fierce, captain o' the Raven's Claw? If ye be brave enough, I dub thee Carrot-Head the Red! Get equipped and join us on the cannons!"

She eyed the newcomer with her cutlass still held level and smiled.

Nothin' was better than havin' a loyal crew at yer side and the sea at yer back.

July blurred by in a series of sleepovers, cultural discoveries and muggletech mishaps; those were some of her fondest memories. What an awfully wild month it has been and yet, it did not end there!

Summer. The very word evoked a ticklish excitement in the twelve-year old girl. She felt so unhinged spending so much of the holidays away from home. Was this normal? She felt like she had a coconut for a head, slish-sloshing with giddy anticipation.

Her trunk and pet carrier floating in her wake, Sage briskly walked down the line of tents, her misty green eyes trained onto the pirate-themed signage, looking out for her name in the list. Ah, there it was.

She'd signed together with the others but separated ways from there, in consideration of those who had to tie up loose ends or otherwise. Besides, she wanted to unpack as quickly as possible. Soot, her little black cat, has been squirming for the past half hour.

Goodness. One could hear the gruff, tongue-rolling sea-speak from outside, it seemed like someone's having too much fun playing pirate-and-crew… and judging by the cadence of their voice, she knew just who stood at the helm of it all.

"Ahoy, Cap'n! Pardon this tardy landlubber!" The gawky teen greeted as she burst through the entrance, only to falter upon seeing her tentmates… a recently blue-haired Sophia, pretty sailor Gem and three others she was unfamiliar with!

What on Merlin's name was with this atmosphere? It was heavy with unease, stretching the silence like a bow pulled too tight. A standoff between the girls, perhaps? Yikes.

'Um…?"
