Ye-jun didn't wish the girl happy birthday. He didn’t know her and in any case, she didn't look like she was in a birthday mood. Leaving the rest of the kids behind, he eventually turned around and followed Lucia in the pursuit of his cousin. This was highly unusual behaviour for Eun-ji. Who was the boy to her? Did she ever mention him before? If he had any doubts about Aaron being just friend, they were very quickly dispersed by Eun-ji’s actions tonight. Clearly, she was not lying when she said so. What about this one though? It dawned on Ye-jun that it might be better not to approach the two and he said as much to Lucia as well.

The girl in question looked hesitant at first but eventually agreed. “Yes, Eun-ji is not usually this rash and if she is taking him away, I’m guessing he’s not interested in having an audience….Not that I blame him.” They meant well of course but that wouldn’t matter to him if he needed a moment to pull himself together. “It makes me wonder too however…” The Beauxbatons student didn’t finish his thought but it was probably clear what he was curious about. Lucia was obviously feeling the same. Would his cousin even tell him? Well, it wouldn’t hurt to try. “Did I mess my hair up or is it okay?” Lucia’s voice brought the boy back to reality. By now they lost Eun-ji in the crowd so it made no sense to just stand there and stare into nothing. “Hold on, let me check.” Ye-jun was good at taking care of his appearance but that skill was not limited to his person only. He helped his mother get ready many times by now and he knew what he was doing. “Here allow me.” He said as he fixed a couple of loose hair for her. There...it was perfect now.

Smiling a bit, the boy nodded. “Sure. We might as well since we've been ditched like this.” He was obviously joking though. Ye-jun liked to dance and it didn't seem like Eun-ji was in any danger right now. She could find them once she was done talking to her friend. He brought Lucia to the dancing spot that was already familiar to him and led her safely through the lovely tunes of music. None of them was too eager to talk but Ye-jun didn't mind. The silence was not awkward or anything, they were just a bit on edge, still processing what happened back there. The peace lasted only a few moments...

“What?” The wizard turned to see the pair his partner was pointing to. Indeed, it looked like the two of them decided to walk back to the Great Hall. Was Eun-ji leading the boy? It sure seemed like it. “They could be, yeah.” He nodded in agreement. “I'd say let's go to the Great Hall, maybe grab some more of my mother’s delicious cooking and meet her once they are done? Or let her come to us.” To be completely honest, he wasn't sure if he wanted to step into middle of whatever was going on. Nevertheless, same as Lucia, he wanted to keep tabs on his cousin so they should at least be in the same location as her. Also all this drama was just making him hungry. “Shall we?” He offered her arm though he wouldn't be offended if she didn't accept it. To him, it was simply a polite thing to do.

Following the introduction of the girl of the hour, Enzo reached his hand out, taking her delicate hand in his own and began to raise it to his lips. That was the polite thing to do was it not? But no sooner had he begun lifting her hand up, than he was interrupted by a flying projectile. The culprit behind the airborne item was none other than Tone himself. Gosh, he had not even gotten the chance to respond to Miss Fowl's inquiry on whereabouts he was from and how he was finding his stay. How unfortunate.

Without a single bit of hesitation, Enzo reacted to the object that was sent towards him and caught it in his hand that was not grasping Miss Fowl's. Oh deary me, did Tone really learn nothing from his hilarious defeat last summer? He should be wise enough to know that targeting Enzo never turns in your favour. He had reflexes that come second to none.

As Tone then started to babble on with his usual nonsense, a snarky grin of sheer amusement spread along Enzo's face as he took a closer look at whatever had been thrown at him.
"Keep it?" He asked, his eyebrows raising up, as if it was the most preposterous sentence he had ever heard in his entire life. "You're absolutely hysterical" He snorted, almost laugh-like if you listened close enough. Only in Tone's dreams would Enzo ever keep something that was made by him.
"This really is a sorry excuse for a 'crown'. As a matter of fact, you did yourself a favour by throwing it at me"

He then let out a sigh, and feigned a pitiful attitude, while still gazing at the headpiece.
"I am truly embarrassed for you at just the thought of this being presented to Madam Fowl. She deserves better mon cher my dear" Enzo chuckled under his breath before tossing the poor crown aside, leaving it to the wraths of the scurrying feet of the courtyard.

"And yes.... you could have really hurt me" Enzo imitated a hurt tone as he piped up after Pea's statement, trying his absolute hardest to not break out into another smug grin. Who was he kidding? With an aim like Tone's, it would have taken no less than a miracle for him to ever come close to hitting Enzo.

"Surely you do not have an issue with that?" Enzo challenged subsequent to Tone's question of if they had been getting acquainted.
"Ah oui yes, I made sure to tell her all about your miserable defeat" He made sure to stress the 'all' in his sentence for he wanted Tone to sweat. Enzo wanted him to worry about how much he had said and how he had said it. Although he had in fact had not said anything that could compromise the relationship between him and Miss Fowl more than it likely was already, it would be entertaining to see Tone scramble.

"It was also a pleasure finding out how you succeeded in acquiring such a lovely date" Enzo added, glancing back over to Pea with a smirk. If his previous taunt had not gotten the reaction he had intended he was certain this would. If Tone was not rattled by Enzo knowing his measly methods of procuring dates, then he was at a loss for what would.

going back to the Great Hall
and looking forward to the food :'(

It wasn't until Ye-jun voiced his thoughts that Lucia realised what he was thinking about. Did Eun-ji... have a crush on this boy? Lucia had wondered if she'd liked Aaron, the boy she'd gone to the last ball with, but it was now clear to her that they were just friends. Eun-ji and the mystery boy, though... that was a different matter, and one which Lucia couldn't help internally speculating about as Ye-jun tucked a few strands of blonde hair back into her bun. "Thank you."

When Lucia pointed out Eun-ji going inside, Ye-jun agreed with her that they should go too. It wasn't that Lucia didn't trust Eun-ji by herself (after all, it was Eun-ji who'd helped people when the tent collapsed at the last ball and Lucia who'd stood there frozen in shock). She just wanted to be there for her if needed. Clearly, Ye-jun felt the same way - and he also pointed out that they could get some more Kimbap while they were in the hall. Lucia nodded happily. "Merlin, yes!" She'd loved the first one that she'd tried and could already feel her stomach begging for some more. "I've not tried any other Korean food but I think I'm going to have to now - the Bol- Bulgogi Kimbap was lovely." Lucia hoped she'd pronounced the name of the food right, despite having tripped over it the first time.

Ye-jun held his arm out for Lucia in a polite gesture. Lucia paused for a moment. She associated formal actions like this with pureblood events, where everyone was feeling too much pressure from everybody else to actually enjoy themselves. Etiquette was generally first on everyone's minds, including Lucia's. It was hard to have fun when you were busy pretending to be the perfect pureblood child. Ye-jun, though, didn't have to pretend. His manners were impeccable and gestures like this were just his way of being kind. Lucia was sure that he would have made an excellent pureblood socialite... if he hadn't been from the Muggle side of Eun-ji's family. Smiling at the slight irony of it, Lucia took her friend's arm. "We shall."

As she and Ye-jun made their way towards the castle, Lucia saw the crafting area situated a short distance away from the main festivities. It looked like the making of flower crowns would have to wait for now. Maybe later they could convince Eun-ji to come with them and show them how it was done, but right now she obviously had other things on her mind. Namely, the mystery boy with the two different eyes...

I am so so sorry for the very late and overdue reply.
Adelaide's eyes rolled at Pax's remark, "I know, me, fun, how shocking!", she would never outwardly admit it to Pax, but she had to admit she did quite enjoy their sarcastic banter. At least Pax was someone she could be sarcastic with, and not have to worry about them taking it the wrong way and getting angry or upset. Most of the time, people took her sarcasm the wrong way and she turned out to be the bad guy in the situation when she hadn't even said anything wrong.

"Neither have I," she said before correcting herself, "well, I am quite creative. I've just never been the most artistic, and I rarely ever paint. Plus, it'll be fun to try out," she shrugged, but the blonde was definitely glad the duo had actually agreed on doing something together - it was, truly, a miracle. Adelaide tilted her head unconvincingly at Pax's idea, "Now how exactly can I trust you to not make it hideous?" She hummed, a playful lilt to her voice, "That does sound quite fun though, so yeah, I'm in!" The Ravenclaw followed after Pax, heading in the direction of the Crafting Corner, she spoke again when she was walking in stride with them, "I have to say, I am quite surprised that you even agreed to this in the first place," she laughed.

banner made by the lovely Pea Elena Fowl <3 And yes the quote is 100% Hana's thoughts

WHAT THE HELL HANA!?” Hana squirmed as her all-too-familiar abominable screeching reached his ears. Any louder and he’d prefer to leave her with Enzo. With a reaction like that, people would think he’s the date wrecker, not Enzo. Was that a no on showing jealousy then? The uncertainty of it all kept Hana’s mouth shut, only reluctantly accepting his fate of being yelled at as if he’s used to it. It feels rather natural considering their prior relationship without Hana acting like a lovesick puppy.

"Keep it?" Oh yea, Enzo was still here "You're absolutely hysterical" He snorted. Whether in amusement or disbelief, Hana merely rolled his eyes. "This really is a sorry excuse for a 'crown'. As a matter of fact, you did yourself a favour by throwing it at me"

And this time it was Hanako’s turn to sniffle back a laughter but he had looked more amused than anything with the way he smiled that surprisingly had no hidden intention. Who was Enzo fooling? He’d do a better job at taunting Hanako if he chose to jab his looks, or personality. But his flower crown? Made by the one and only Hanako Tone? Hysterical! Enzo either was too blind to see the beauty of flower crowns, or he was just mad he didn’t have the skill to do it. Still, it was amusing. Hanako didn’t hide how little effect his comment had on him. And he was going to leave him alone if only he shut up after that.

"I am truly embarrassed for you at just the thought of this being presented to Madam Fowl. She deserves better mon cher " And after that, Hanako’s amusement faded as if it was never there. His smile returned eventually, albeit more strained.

Or..are you saying you can make a better one?” he challenged, a mischief gleam in his brown eyes “I’d love to see which one Fowl would think is more appealing~. It’s only her opinion that I care about anyways”. It’s childish to say this to someone who will ultimately lose if they were going against Hana’s flower crowns. It’s the ego talking, sure. But he couldn’t let that comment slide. There was no point in being so distraught over Enzo yapping about how bad the flower crown is, but Pea? She was one of the most insufferable 1st years he ever had the pleasure to meet, but it was supposed to be her flower crown. Disappointing reactions to his flower crowns were one thing he tried to avoid at all cost. Enzo’s words only reminded him that Pea never really reacted to his gift yet, apart from screaming.

Unable to conceal his curiosity, he glanced towards her in hopes to see something- anything- that showed she appreciated it. Whether there was or not, he’d snap back to reality and focus back on Enzo. He was ashamed to even think of looking for Pea’s approval, which for once- was not fake. It’s been ages since he had seen the all-too-familiar disapproving glances of his parents. The hopeful motivation of his young self that was set on making the best flower crown that his parents had no choice but to be proud of. Didn't work. But it did make him hella good at flower crowns. Unfortunately, it’s also what he was particularly sensitive about. Even Pea’s opinion, -who he couldn’t care less about if not for this energy draining goal to ruin her first ball date- was important.

He decided that as long as Pea didn’t verbally abuse the poor flower crown as Enzo did, it would be fine. Besides, it's not likely that Enzo would actually challenge Hana to a flower crown competition for Pea. That would be hilarious but it was better than swinging fists and spells.

"Really- A fly? You know you could've hurt Enzo."

From.. a bunch of flowers?” he worded this slowly and questioningly as if he couldn’t believe that was her main priority right now. And not like oh I dunnoooo- how Enzo showed up out of nowhere and is obviously trying to disturb their date?!? Madness! Did she plan this? He couldn't believe he was so concerned about her opinion just moments ago. Would she rather him hit Enzo with flipendo? He bit back a snarky retort about it because for sure Hana preferred a flipendo as well.

"And yes.... you could have really hurt me"

And then this loud- weird- awful noise came from Enzo made Hanako look back at him with a mixture of confusion and disgust. He could make a sound like that??? First of all, EW. Second of all, Hanako hopes to never hear it again. Third, this was basically confirmation of his intentions was it? Here Hana thought he was going to just leave them alone soon. He was too wishful. Enzo, what an awfully annoying fly. This was the 2nd time Delacroix had bugged Hana and his date. If Pea wasn’t here Hana would certainly jab at how oddly obsessed Enzo was with his date. Alas, he had an image to uphold.

From … a bunch of flowers?” He repeated mockingly, clearly amused “ Oh dear, I didn’t realise how…frail you are…” and just like Enzo feigning concern (Pea as well unbeknownst to him) Hanako used the same exact tone, his smile a little too genuine. “Well, I suppose with your quick feet, you needed something to protect yourself, hm? Truly sorry about that, I didn’t know it would’ve hurt you that bad. Do tell me if you need a healing spell or two. The least I could do, hm?” Yea, sure. He wasn't as pretty as Pea, or annoyingly suave as Enzo. But being an older year had its perks.

"We are just getting acquainted, he also mentioned a little of.. you two's past encounters. I heard that he beat you in a duel once? " Pea’s familiar snark had Hana holding back an eyeroll.

"Surely you do not have an issue with that?” Enzo piqued "Ah oui , I made sure to tell her all about your miserable defeat". Certainly a favourite topic of his, wasn’t it? Was it too early to cast them dancing spells and leave for a good nights rest?

The looked up at the giant wasps-less sky and sigh. Smile a little longer, you can do it. He returned back his gaze to the other two infuriating no-good scheming juniors and gave his best-unbothered smile which appeared slightly too tight.

Ahh that… Hahahah.. Oh silly Enzo. He always forgets to mention who ended up winning overall~.” And finally, he could laugh a bit because it was true- Hogwarts did succeed in the end from a ⅔ win.

We certainly had fun though didn’t we, Delacroix? Were your other friends from the other team alright with their loss? Unlike my team, I’m well aware some of the other Hogwarts team were more.. Experienced?” he said with a smile, meaning to remind him that his team wasn’t against the best of Hogwarts in the first place. He supposed a win was the only thing he could brag about. If he wanted to really brag, he should try his luck with the captains. See if he step side his way through their spells. Of course, Pea was still here, so his word choice needed to be careful. Attempt to change the subject it is. “ But yea, fun right?”

Y’know, looking at him again properly bought all the memories of chess combats. And how the urge to hit Enzo with one spell was an all-time high. It had been a while since they last met. Perhaps he could try how much his accuracy has improved. The flowercrown was just a warm-up.

"It was also a pleasure finding out how you succeeded in acquiring such a lovely date"

Ahhh yeaaa, very lucky aren’t I?” Without noticing, he had shifted closer to Pea, eyes devoid of warmth still on Enzo, accompanied with an empty smile.“ Anyways, thanks for entertaining her for me. My top priority tonight is to make her happy, after all” At least that last bit wasn’t entirely wrong.

Cu sith is around here, you know,” he informed the slimy slug (Enzo) rather politely. Anything to get him away already. “Why don't you go run along and do what the rest of us are doing hm? Hang out with those who we actually like. I see you have none of that for tonight. Alone again? Where’s your other friend, Valentines or something?” he did his best to ask it as if he was curious while also trying to hide a mocking face. Was it that hard for Enzo to keep people by his side? Big talk from someone like Hanako, but oh well.

INTERACTS | Henri de Bourbon (@Regina Miller)
p.s. I’m super sorry for how long this took! :sweatingbullets:

────────────────────────────────────
This was altogether a brand new thing, meeting Henri and all that. When Maxi first talked about arranging Monsieur de Bourbon as a ball date for her, Lindsey was excited. All this time she had been longing for changes, moving forward to a new life and meeting new people, and Maxi’s suggestion - ah, maybe not exactly a suggestion, because technically speaking thanks to him Henri was already her official date back then, even though they’d never met in person - was agreed upon. And then witty and charming gentleman showed up, living up to all her previous expectations about him according to Maxi’s descriptions. The true French gentleman, and the exact annotation of true French grace. Was she still excited? Perhaps, and yet she was becoming slightly frightened alarmed by her brief moment of discomposure, which she certainly did not want to happen again.

The thoughts were lingering in her mind when she stepped out of the castle with Henri, making her head ache slightly. Lindsey wasn’t sure if she was really enjoying this experience - Henri was agreeable, so yes, yet he somehow frightened her so no. She hadn’t seen many boys like that, and Henri’s gallantry was certainly different from the few flirtatious people she had met. The eloquence and the flatteries did make her lips curl up to a smile with satisfaction, and yet she wished to escape. What an intriguing feeling really - and Lindsey was 99% present not sure how to deal with it. Maintaining a positive relationship with him was actually her top goal at the moment, and Lindsey did not wish to mess up their seemingly good enough relationship by woolgathering. She had to focus. And to stay calm.

Talking. She needed talking to save her from everything.

They were now very near their destination, when Lindsey made up her mind to strike up a conversation to force herself to calm her mind down. “Um…I guess I’ll start first?” Managing to squeeze a small timid smile out, she slightly tilted her head towards Henri. “So…I do duelling, but I used to play Quidditch. Was quite a fanatic back then.” She chuckled slightly, remembering the old days when she still played on the team as a beater fondly. That was certainly a treasured memory, when she soared high above and defended her team’s seeker. The sort of beater badminton between her and the opponent beater was her favourite when defending, offering her a sense of achievement. “Though I think I’m rather settled in duelling now. I find it actually fun enough as a way to exercise the mind and practice your magical skills at the meantime.” she expressed, while taking a quick glance at him. Rather seemed like an athletic person, huh? “Do you by any chance play? Or does another sport out there intrigue you?”

Inhaling in fresh air, she now felt much easier. See, she was able to control herself well - wasn’t she talking with him as if nothing had happened, and as if nothing had stumbled upon her mind? It couldn’t be too difficult, to socialise and all that. That being said, to get to know Henri deeper was actually one of the true motives, which she hadn’t realised yet. Tactics when socialising weren’t popping up one by one today, and instead she would stammer out any word that make it appearance in her head.

“And…my favourite subjects are Transfiguration and Herbology, but Potions and - oh, we are here!” A bright smile appeared on her face when seeing the beautifully decorated courtyard. Henri would like it, wouldn’t he? “Okay, back to the subjects. I wasn’t a big fun of Astronomy when I was younger, but I think I enjoy it now.” Lindsey wasn’t really sure if Henri would approve her if she did mention Muggle Studies as one of her beloved classes, seeing that he seemed to be raised in a seemingly old-fashioned pureblood family. If, by any chance, he wasn’t keen on muggles and their artefacts at all, she’d better not bring up her interest - again, she did not want to mess things up.

What in heavens was going on... At this point, all pretence for feigning more interest in the flames than the altercation were dropped. Never mind the increasing volumes of voices that were no longer attempting to hide from nearby ears, but Burnett had thrown a punch. Burnett. Of all people. The chatter-fox whose cunning and general approach lined him up with the sort that would try to talk their way out of any situation rather than resort to feats of physical strength. If there was anyone with whom Evelynn might actually have a chance at a fair contest when it came to strength, it would be him.

What surprised her even more, however, was that Flash let it happen. It hadn't occurred to her that he might have been in just as much shock as he to see Burnett take such an action. No, she had jumped to the suspicion that he had seen it coming and denied to retreat. That whatever it was that had happened, he felt this consequence deserving.

So what had happened..

"Mn?" A voice nearby registered itself in Evelynn's mind like any governmental application during the pandemic. That is to say: delayed. But the tone therein wasn't lost on the prefect, and as loathe as she might have been to pull her attention from the drama for even a moment, she tore it away in favour of her accompaniment. Ivy had turned away from the fire, its glow ringing her in a halo of light that cast her features into an interesting mixture of warm glow and shadow. She really was quite pretty, Evelynn reflected.

It wasn't often that another's appearance would be paid much mind by the more academically inclined lioness, but it didn't mean she couldn't appreciate when someone had objectively attractive features. If it didn't mean that she would be prone to solicitations, Evelynn might even have been jealous of the unblemished porcelain skin and symmetrical features. What was more, the depth of the girl's gaze was captivating in a way. Just a hint of desperate plight veiled by a calm demeanour. Like a curtain split only a sliver, it hinted to a deeper breadth of emotion that made Evelynn want to inquire further.

"Are you quite alright?" She wondered, eyes that seemed almost amber by the reflection of the not-so-distant flames carefully assessing the girl's expression. For just a moment, she thought she'd caught sight of Ivy's hand near her neck, not unlike Evelynn might do to check a pulse.

But perhaps it was just her imagination. A moment later, she seemed as composed as ever, attention likewise directed towards the scuffle. "I am not entirely certain," Evelynn replied, redirecting her own attention back towards the aftermath. If I told you, you would have stopped me. Stopped him from what, exactly, though? "I am hardly privy to Slytherin dramatics.." But Anderson had made mention of Victor and Marion in a way that suggested they were among the subjects of discussion. Given what she had been told, however, she had always been under the impression that Burnett was compromised. Unless the kiss had made him an unsuspecting vessel..

Suddenly, there was a change of perspective. Perhaps he hadn't actually been recruited by them. Perhaps he was actually upset about circumstantial issues. Like a lack of awareness of the potential dangers. Of information withheld? Realistically, the reasons were endless, and there wasn't nearly enough context being publicly divulged for her to figure it out in the moment. With a glance over to Ivy, she solemnly added, "But I do mean to find out."

The time for that would not be now, however. Students had gathered, some familiar. Miss Hunt stood out among the faces, her concern for Flash evident even at a distance. She had taken his hand, seemingly urging him to leave the area. It seemed as though hardly any prompting would be necessary to exact the reaction she desired. Without any satisfactory conclusion, Flash followed her, delaying only long enough to pass birthday sentiments to Anderson. Burnett had turned his back to them, eyes on the flames. And the Hufflepuff seemed to have lost all of the sparkle she usually contained. Like death had descended upon them, the trio parted, each ultimately going their separate ways, their hurt practically choking with its density.

All the while, she watched in silence, an outsider to this intimate emotional dance. Eyes had locked briefly with Burnett when he, too, eventually decided to take his leave. There was no mistaking the nod of acknowledgement he had cast her way. It was an unusually dulcet action. No cutting comment; no biting quip. While they hadn't much interaction of note in recent times, she still recalled in detail the way they had so easily butted heads, two intellectuals circling and sizing each other up. The boy she knew was but a shell in this moment. And as he passed her by, her head swivelled after him to watch as his form grew ever more distant.

"Hm?" Once again, voices of those nearer to her would snap her from her thoughts, this time courtesy of her name. "Do I think what is a good id—"

Somehow she had missed the prompt by quite a delay. It felt like only a second ago that Marshal and Ivy had been standing at her side but that was no longer the case. They were already walking away from her. They hadn't waited. In that moment, all the warmth of the flaming effigy could not chase away the chill that befell her position. Flash.. Anderson.. Burnett.. Marshal.. Ivy.. They were all retreating. All departing from the place where she remained. Just as Aurelius had. Just like Valentine. And Woodward. Like Ami and Lestrange. Eventually they all walked away.

She couldn't stand it.

Taking a step, her subconscious propelled her into motion, but along a medial path. She would pursue, but the question was: who? On the one hand, Flash and Burnett, the past that had built her frame of mind and the way she had come to digest new information at Hogwarts. On the other, Marshal and Ivy, two who had renewed her hope for the future for lasting and meaningful friendships. But somehow there existed a chasm separating the two, one that she could not easily cross. Slowing again to a stop, Evelynn hesitated. The desire for knowledge and the answers to a plethora of new questions battling against that voice that warned of regret if she did not follow the path of those companions who had come with her to the ball.

She ached to keep going. To hurry after Burnett, to corner him if she had to and pry from him the truth. But she couldn't bring herself to keep going. Gaze flicking to Marshal and Ivy, a stab of discomfort shot through her belly. Lips twitched. It was always strange seeing him from across a room. She'd gotten used to having to battle away his attention, to his perpetual presence. Not even the scent of cocoa butter hung in the air any longer, its aroma wafted away by the breeze. It felt wrong. With one last glance towards the spot she had last seen Burnett, she made the decision that she would seek him out later to inquire and to broach the topic of what she thought she knew.

Taking off again with long and purposeful strides, the prefect rerouted herself, steps carrying her gracefully with head held high towards her housemates. It wouldn't take her long to catch up. Not with their languid pace. Even still, they had nearly arrived at the refreshment table by the time she caught up, calling ahead, "You are not planning on actually consuming the refreshments, are you?" She cast a suspicious look to the food and beverage, trusting it not at all. "Do you remember what happened last year?" Because she was still having gaps in her memory even after snippets had started to return, and that was part of the problem.

Aaron seemed more confident than ever as he accepted her nervous offer of a dance and took her hand, leading her out onto the dance floor. Certainly, he was more confident than Aly herself; now that her burst of fiery courage had dissipated, replaced by fluttering butterflies buzzing through her blood the moment Aaron's skin touched hers, she was beginning to remember that she had never really danced much before. Sure, a little bit here and there, mostly with her father in the kitchen after dinner while her mother shook her head disapprovingly that Aly wasn't learning "proper" dance. But never had she danced with a boy before. Well, not like this, anyway.

Aaron, though, seemed to know what he was doing, and rose their clasped hands into the air as the other of his hands lightly gripped her waist. Aly knew this much, at least, and her other hand travelled almost instinctively to his shoulder, snaking over it until the tips of her fingers were brushing his back. "A waltz sounds perfect," she agreed with that genuine smile that Aaron always seemed to bring out in her. Surely she could learn how to really waltz as she went along, right?

Except, as it turned out, she did know how to waltz. All that dancing around with her father in the kitchen to Celestina Warbeck in the evenings after dinner had, apparently, been waltzing, and she simply hadn't known the proper word for it. It was a dance in three steps, one-two-three one-two-three one-two-three one, and as she whirled with her dance partner and date around the makeshift dance floor, Aly thought that perhaps this was the happiest she had ever been. Aaron was joking around, she was laughing, the two of them in perfect harmony, their feet in sync, their eyes locked, their smiles equally wide. Aly just hoped Aaron couldn't hear her heart pounding, though she could, bum-BUMP, bum-BUMP, louder perhaps than even the music that swung and dipped and beat a lovely rhythm just for them.

Best of all, she only stepped on his foot once. Score one for the klutzes!

When the song was reaching its end and the dance beginning to slow, Aly felt her palms begin to sweat, though she dared not yank them away from Aaron to wipe them on her beautiful cherry-blossom dress lest he find that gross or odd. Most dances ended with some sort of pose usually - at least, she was pretty sure. Some kind of dip or twirl or something of the sort. Except Aly didn't really know how to pose; she wasn't that talented of a dancer, but rather, just a thirteen-year-old girl on a far-too-fancy date with a far-too-cute boy.

So she did what any thirteen-year-old girl would do when trying to flirt with someone but flushed with nerves. Her face turning pink, Aly pushed herself up onto the tips of her toes and pressed a light, quick kiss to Aaron's cheek.

"Thank you," she said as she set herself back onto her feet, softly, almost shyly, which was rare for Aly Salinger, if you knew her at all. "You're a wonderful dance partner, Aaron."

These boys- really couldn't stop bickering with each other. Making her think that there is more history in their relationship other than being dueling rivals. That is interesting.... huh- she guessed, she has made the right target when she's choosing Enzo to ignite the fire of whatever this is.

Now, she might be a little too dramatic when she was reacting to Hana's flower crown throw, well, you could not blame her, she didn't realize it was just a bunch of flowers that Hana throws at them. You know, it could be some sort of drink or food that can absolutely ruin her hair or her dress! The horror!

Still, her reaction might cause Hana to refrain from doing something more dramatic than that flower crown throw- sigh- what a disappointment. She wanted more drama on this blissfully boring night. Like a couple of punches, or maybe a real witness of so they said, dueling background. That ought to be less boring than this ball. It just seems like there is nothing going on tonight unlike what Hana said back then. Well, she is not surprised that he was just all talk from the start.

Finally, after several minutes of witnessing the two boys quarreling. She groans, "You know what, I'm going to get some refreshments because you two are getting on my nerves." She left without seeing their approval and walked towards the refreshment table. Although, they didn't know that this is also part of her plan. She knows Hana and probably Enzo too, is constantly looking for her affection and probably- didn't want to behave improperly in front of her. So she is going to give the boys some time- and there might be something i n t e r e s t i n g happening after this.

She walked towards the refreshment table with a slight smirk and take a sip from one of the cups. "Oh gosh Birkin, I almost forgot you are here!" she looked at her shoulder noticing her small pet lizard still perched on her shoulder. "Sorry love, you are so tiny I keep forgetting you're not a part of my dress." She's going to one of the corners of the courtyard, and crossing her arm, trying to find the best view to witness what is going to go down between the midget and the french. "Here it is, now let's enjoy the show, shall we." She said looking at the white scaly lizard, and sipping the weird yet delightful concoction in her hand.

Ivy did not miss the smidge of annoyance in Marshal's voice, although she didn't exactly have time to ponder why it was there as he was already ushering her towards a table. She was too surprised to do anything other than go along with him. "A - a drink? I - alright, I suppose-" Ivy glanced over her shoulder at Evelynn, who had not moved to follow yet, and a slightly crease appeared between her brows. She didn't want to leave her friend behind.

"Hey, shouldn't we wait for her?" She briefly wondered if Marshal had pulled her away to walk ahead because he wanted to say something. Recalling the note of irritation in his words, she tilted her head to one side to meet his eye as they reached the table, taking a drink at random. "Are you alright?" she enquired gently.

The Gryffindor turned to smile at Evelynn as she approached, although at her warning she would groan internally - you knew it was bad when you couldn't even consume finger food at Hogwarts without questioning its contents. Externally, Ivy's smile did not falter; she simply raised an eyebrow curiously and set the glass back down on the table. "Why? What happened last year?" She had been in France for almost all of last year, but she had a pretty good idea of what Evelynn's reply would be. Hogwarts events were cursed.

With a soft sigh, Ivy ran her fingers through her newly cut tresses and leaned against the table. Was it really so hard to ask for a nice night out with some friends at this school? The excitement that had gathered while she and Evelynn had gotten dressed up earlier that night had long since worn off, and her head was starting to hurt as well. She suspected that her companions were feeling pretty similar to her right now.
