Quidditch Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw Jan 2022 Completed

The game could be over at any moment, but it seemed as if neither teams had made much progress. Winnie had a lump in her throat that she promptly swallowed as she watched the Ravenclaw seeker soar through the air and miss an attempt to blatch her. How dare the Gryffindors play dirty! ... That was what the Ravenclaws did!

Although one of her bench mates was celebrating, Winnie's attention went back to the other. To see if the girl had been distracted by the game enough to forget the boy in the stands.

The match was very long, long enough for Aurora to admire a certain boy who stood (or sat) on the bleacher. If one would ask the girl what happened in the match, she wouldn’t know. As long as no one screamed ‘yay Ravenclaw’ yet, that would mean the match was still ongoing. Perhaps Winnie would be kind enough to tell her the recap later in the dorm.

Quidditch continued, as Quidditch tends to do. All the while AJ focused on not getting his butt frozen to the bench. He knew he should be one-hundred percent focused on how his team was performing and how he could support them from the sidelines, but it couldn't be understated how difficult it was to focus with the threat of being rime-bound to an uncomfortable chair for the whole match.

From the second he put his hand to hers something had felt off. As River went flying, he could immediately tell the angle of the approach was incorrect. A few degrees to the right and she'd have had it for sure. He had gotten to careful and should've played it even riskier, or at least he would think. On second thought though, there was no sense in blaming anyone.

It was the first time he'd been on that end of an alley-oop, but he was certain it wouldn't be the last. Plus, knowing how it worked from both sides was only going to add to the collective experience he would draw from the next time.

"What now Cap?!"

He shouted to Cecily from across the pitch. He wasn't sure if she heard him, but She was the experienced one and he was at a loss for what to do next. His plans had failed, but that didn't mean much if this was going to become a long game. Gripping his broom tight, he sped off to get back into position.

SMACK! Jorah's bludger made contact with the nearest bludger, sending it straight towards Evelynn. It would have hit her too if Gris hadn't flown to intercept. It wasn't all a loss; Gris's decision came at a sacrifice, the bludger was now coming for her. Her attempt at dodging or deflecting the bludger was a failure. She was hurt and barely managed to stay on her broom. Jorah eyed her Silver Arrow. He griped the wooden beads of taken from the splinters of prior broken brooms, Jorah wore them proudly around his neck. It would be a shame if anything happened to her broom, but it would make a fine addition to my collection.

What? What was happening? Ivy was really not having it today. She just wanted to be back in bed, with a mug of hot chocolate and a copy of witch weekly. Maybe she ought to be a better teammate and cheerleader… she would glance up and check the scoreboard to see how much effort was required. Was ravenclaw winning? Ew. That was annoying. “Come on gryffindor, you can do it!” God, it was freezing. Ivy rubbed her hands together in a futile attempt to warm them up. They were frozen to the bone.

Hanging back from the action was not somewhere Cecily often found herself, but it was nevertheless an integral part of the play. Or so she reminded herself as she sat back on her broom, eyes scanning the pitch for any sign of a tumble, prepared to swoop in should the need arise. But River-- and everyone else, because right, she was supposed to be paying attention to them too-- seemed to hang on for the moment, not yet in need of Cecily's top-notch lifeguarding service. Fantastic. Onto bigger and better plays.

It had happened. Undoubtedly, irrefutably, and against all odds, it had actually happened; Marshal had become distracted from the quidditch match before him. With no warning, nor explanation as to how such a miraculous event had come to pass, the boy had simply... blanked out. Like the words of a page fading to white, or a computer screen freezing on the ever dreaded color blue. Almost, even, as though he were a fictional character whose author had lost all muse and inspiration to oversee the continuation of his life. But that was preposterous.

Eyelids blinking rapidly, he gave his head a hardy shake, attempting to revive his senses and hone back in on the matter at hand. Yet even now, his focus was lacking. Vision a blur, and hearing apparently dulled by bits of fluff, the Gryffindor was, for all intents and purposes, a vegetable. It was almost as though that same author who dictated his life had been forced to rush his very actions, with no time to read and learn of the situation surrounding him, thus failing to inform him of what he saw or heard. What an odd sensation...
