Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw Jan 2022
jan 15, 2022.It was pretty hard to keep track of everything that was going on up there. Still, Ivy did her best, grey eyes tracking the red and blue figures high above across the field. She took her social cues from the other second string players and the Gryffindor stands filled with her housemates, winced at the sound of the Beaters' bats scrape against the metal of the Bludgers, cheered in support when Haley scored 20 points for Gryffindor. "Yes!" Ivy grinned. At least they were off to a good start.action. benched.stats. sta. 6 9 | eva. 9 12 | str. 5 8 | wis. 9 12 | arc. 7 10 | acc. 9 12

And they're of-...AND they're cheating. Immediately, it seemed the more things changed the more things stayed the same. It honestly seemed like the Ravenclaw's weren't even aware of the Quaffle. They thought this was a Quidditch destruction derby.
Not that his team was entirely innocent. AJ winced slightly as Akari tried to take someone out in a similar fashion. Some part of him knew he shouldn't be such a stick in the mud. That he should just accept it as part of the game, but it just bugged him that it was so common.
Although keeping track of a Quidditch match was somehow impossible, he did briefly catch sight of the Gryffindor Captain gripping his broom rather tightly. The same Captain that had just...survived...a blatch... "Oh no, no no no..." The young Scotsman sighed, putting his face into his gloved hands.

"Dammit" Akari groaned under her breath as the target of her blatch flew away unscathed. She was actually rather close this time, but at the last second, it seemed as if luck was not on her side and the beater braced himself for the impact, unfortunately, staying put on his broom.
Akari sighed at her failed attempt of knocking the raven off his broom and immediately sped towards the edge of the pitch to finish her penalty as quickly as possible.[font= garamond]Position: First String KeeperAction: Taking a lap & Doing as Stratigized

With the blow of the whistle, the game was afoot. Like a snowball against an easy target, the players scattered to the winds. Given how aggressive Ravenclaw had been against Slytherin in their first match of the season, Evelynn was expecting very much the same here. One way or another, this was likely to be a short game; players on the benches below and students in the stands, alike, would undoubtedly be relieved. With two strong seekers on the pitch and two teams each with highly offensive playing styles, it was likely this would come down to a snitch game after one team managed to secure control of the playing field. Gryffindor just had to make sure it was them. Which meant Evelynn had to make sure she survived long enough to stay competitive.
Easier said than done. Frigid winds, barely muffled by her bulky winter wear, still howled in her ears and buffeted her clothing. Hunched over her broom, she squinted against the wind resistance, eyes peeled for a glint of gold against the snowy backdrop. In theory, the white would help to contrast the gold, light reflecting off every surface to ensure a gleam be seen at any angle. In practice, a flit of gold was almost invisible against the pale backdrop. She much preferred a sunny day after a torrential rain when the snitch glinted obviously against a canvas of ruddy mud. Still, she kept her eyes keenly on the game, one in search of the snitch, the other watching out fo—
A blur of blue rocketed in her peripherals towards her four. She crinkled her nose in distaste, lips pursing as muscle coiled in preparation. Even the satisfaction of knowing they'd strike quickly hardly made the moment any better. Cloven or Quinn, she assumed, given the player—rather than bludger—sized projectile. Hopefully Quinn, came the whispered thought. She'd grown almost fond of Cloven during the little token adventure over the summer and their scattered interactions in or between class since. Whoever it was to be, however, the lioness prepared herself just as Gryffindor scored the first points of the game. At least they were off to a good start.
Sacrificing her hunt for the snitch, she arced her path around so the girl would be forced to approach at an oncoming angle, eliminating the option to correct a missed path. Eyes narrowed, she sped forward without fear, a silent game of chicken but with every knowledge that the goal of her opponent would be collision. Four. Three. Two... Evelynn jerked down on the handle, flattened, and lunged to the side. In that brief moment, any onlookers might have thought the blatch successful with the way she almost appeared thrown off her broom. Very much still in control, however, she barrelled on the axis, flying beneath the would-be attacker, and righting herself on the other side.
A grim smirk pulled at her lips with the announcement of Quinn's penalty. Swivelling her gaze about, she caught sight of the Eagle's captain just as she kicked off for the lap. Good. At least the ref is paying attention today. Perhaps they'd stand a chance, after a—"UGgh!"
An explosion of pain in the form of a black canon snapped her into survival mode as her left shoulder erupted in a dull throb. Torso twisting with the momentum and left hand temporarily stunned useless with the shock, she could only grasp for dear life with the right, legs squeezing to keep her seat. Balance off, the nose of her broom upturned and spun, sending Evelynn into a tizzying and quite unintentional looping corkscrew. At its apex, she would speed out, every intention to put as much distance between herself and the harbinger of death that was whichever beater had locked her as their target. Only then would she allow herself a moment to reorient, take stock of the game and attempt to get her hunt back on track.

Let the game begin. It wasn't long before Haley's feet were pushing hard off the ground and she had flown up in a great loop. One last look was taken at the team in the air, on the bench and at the cheering crowd in the stands. One last look before her concentration turned fully to the game against the Ravenclaw. The Nervousness still coursed through her body, the cold made her skin tighten, but all Haley felt was the gribbling in her fingers. The gribbling to grab the Quaffle and deliver it into one of the three rings. And that was exactly what she did after the whistle blew to start the game.
Haley leaned forward on her broom, the cold wind whipping at her face but all she was aware of was the Quaffle. She reached for it, the first time, and already she held it in her hands. Without really having to think about what she would do now, what her next move would be, what tactics she would choose, she was already on her way to the gates. Her body reacted as if it were a routine, like getting up in the morning and going to the bathroom. She flew and the closer she got to the rings, the more nervous she became. You got this Rose the redhead whispered to herself but could not hear her own voice. What was said was caught on the wind and carried away. Still holding the Quaffle in her right hand, Haley continued to fly towards her target, lunging and throwing hard at the ring. Before the Quaffle left her hand, she noticed how she lost her grip, but she could not stop the throw. The Quaffle flew, it flew in the right direction but bounced off the ring.
Haley was annoyed, but only for a milisecond, because the game continued. She flew a U-turn and grabbed the Quaffle two more times. But this time she had learned from her mistake and it didn't happen to her a second time. She took a swing, the Quaffle flew and went straight through the middle of the rings - Twice. 20 points for Gryffindor.
Haley could hear the crowd cheering and the corner of her mouth pulled up slightly on one side. The roar was a booster and Haley was ready to release her energy.

Another match, another round passing him by as River's shadow. If the Gryffindor Team hadn't been keen to figure out what he was doing so far then his role in the game would likely be made obvious as he swooped past Aly and Gabriella, the pair of them now sharing a broom. While he was focused on surveying the opposition, he also made certain to keep an eye on his friends. At least, he thought being on the same team made them friends. "Good work Aly," He said with a smile as he swooped past. "Hang in there you two."
Syl, the daydreaming co-captain, wasn't as lost in his thoughts as he was usually. Whether it was the weather, the stakes of today's game, or even just the scene playing out in front of him, he fought against the numerous distracting forces outside of his control in order to win. The cheers of the crowd, the snowfall, the cold that clung to his nose and chin as he swept through the sky... Boy was nature proving to be his adversary! And Gryffindor Team was no slouch on the pitch either! Regardless of his respect for them, there was a part of him that believed it was time the pride's streak was broken.
As Cecily took to her penalty lap, Sylvain was prepared for the shift in responsibilities and took weight of making the calls on his shoulders. Still, Syl spent some time glancing to the sidelines, intent on judging whether or not his captain would be wondering later what was going through his mind in this moment. He made sure to etch his reasons into his memory before he signaled the change of plans calmly to their team and he did so with as confident a voice as he could muster in the windy wintry wonderland the quidditch pitch had become.
"Don't give them room to breath, keep your chins up and stick to the schedule!"
Seemingly mere stock phrases, albeit of encouragement, his words were actually practiced tells meant to adjust their team's strategy on the fly. Breath. Keep. Stick. He was every bit confident that they'd secure the win if they kept their strategies propped up with proactive efforts, all he had to do was play his part and keep an eye out for hints of danger on the horizon. Though admittedly, a little luck had already gone a long way. He would have to hope for more.

Leaning into every aggression taken against both teams, her body swayed back and forth. If only her dramatic movements could influence the game. Her confidence was high, on and off the field, but she couldn't help but stare into her lap to avoid the cold breeze slapping against her face. Hopefully, she wouldn't have to deal with it at all.

As usual, her job as a Beater hadn't changed. All she had to do was finding the perfect moment and strike down their target with a heavy Bludger. The last game they had with the Ravenclaws wasn't easy if she remembered correctly, and not to mentioned that their rival team now had unexpected new players on their team as well. So they still had to be always careful and stay focus during the game.
Not to Griseldis's surprise, she already noticed that one of Ravenclaw's Beaters wanted to attack their Chaser, Ana. But for some reason, knowing how nimble Ana really was, Griseldis wasn't too worried and just like how she expected. Grisleids watched how Ana skillfully dodged their Bludger. Then she quickly took this as an opportunity to "return" the Bludger back at the former attacker with full strength and to her delight, she was able to knock the Ravenclaw Beater off of their broom. Even though they were saved right away by their own teammates, but that wouldn't easily discourage her. The game only just began, after all.Action: Doing as strategizedReducioPosition: First String Beater

Mentions: No oneAs River waited for the signal to begin she barely noticed Aly stepping up next to her. “Oh huh, I didn’t notice”, she responded as her teammate reached out to aid her face up.
She smiled and gave her cheek a little pat, “Thank you Aly”. Aly was certainly good at keeping an eye out for her teammates during these matches. “Good luck you too, let’s get this win”, she said as they took off from the ground on their fancy brooms.
From now on it would be full focus on the snitch, and hopefully they’d be able to get Ravenclaw another win. As the game began, River made her usual way upward to get a better view of the entire pitch. She truly hoped to avoid being hit by any bludgers this game. She’d barely fully recovered from the bruises of the last game.
Keeping her eyes peeled, something caught her attention. She’d only just started circling the pitch before her heart made a little jump as her eyes caught onto something small and gold glinting briefly. She was a bit surprised to have noticed it so early, but there was no time to stall. Immediately she leaned and zoomed right in the direction of the snitch, trying her best to catch up.ReducioAction: Doing as strategized

Winnie didn't fail to notice the sign that was waving in the air, meant for her dorm mate. A thin smirk curved onto his lips as she glanced towards Aurora and wiggled her eyebrows playfully. "I didn't know you had a fan club, Rori." She was quite lucky. As for her own fanboy... He was not present. Her head drooped upon this realization. She was not certain why she thought it would be any different, why she believed Matt would show up after ignoring her for almost a month. No, that was incorrect. She thought a game of Quidditch would draw the boy out of hiding if he had happened to be hiding somewhere at Hogwarts, but it had not. She was wrong. She tried to force herself to think of something else, she could not risk crying in the middle of a game.
A sudden gesture from across the field caught her attention. A blonde boy waving towards her. Despite the way the winter's crisp air nipped at her pale skin, she felt herself heating up, the sensation leaving her face tinged with rosy hues. She raised a hand to wave back to him, already distracted from the game. Marshal was a nice boy, waving at her despite the fact the two were playing against each other. His presence on the opposing team was going to make concentrating difficult for the Ravenclaw. "It feels weird playing against friends." She admitted to her batchmates.
