The Muggle Studies classroom was one of the only places Adlai felt at peace on campus. It was place where she felt safe to express and apply the knowledge she grew up experiencing. She didn't have to stress about falling behind, because here she was always one step ahead if not a complete mile ahead of her classmates who grew up immersed in the wizarding world and knowing nothing or very little of muggle society.

Adlai watched quietly as a few individual struggled with the initial task, to cut a snowflake out of paper. That much she would admit was a tad difficult especially if you had never seen anyone do it before. Nonetheless she picked up the scissors and proceeded to slowly but surly give way to her elementary art piece. It wasn't perfect, if it had been she would have been shocked but it also wasn't horrible.

Pulling her wand out of her pocket she placed it on the table beside her paper snowflake and the several scraps of paper that were littered on top of it. Now she had to do something magical to add a little "pizzazz" to the ordeal, right? She could make it float, or set it on fire, or flippendo it across the room though that wouldn't be very delicate or practical.

Scratching her head, her recalled the most snowflake related spell she could think of. Picking up her wand in her right hand and her paper snowflake in her left hand, she tossed her paper snowflake into the air. "Lumos" she said, as she wished and hoped for the tip of her wand to light up as she did her best to keep her paper snowflake above her wand by gentle blowing it in the air above her.

The muggle studies classroom was an entirely new place for Winnie, as she had yet to enter her third year of Hogwarts and attend the extra classes the older years had a chance to enroll in. Not that muggle studies would really be up the girl's alley, considering she had basically grown up a muggle herself and did not need help further understanding the culture and society non-magical people had built.

It still drew the curious girl in, however, with a silent whisper that promised to provide her with even more holiday joy. Enchanting snowflakes seemed like so much fun. It was an activity that she had wanted to bug Matt to attend, but she had forgotten to mention it and ended up arriving alone. That would not last for long, however, because as her eyes scanned over the room they fell upon the familiar face of her chocolate frog buddy. Her lips broke into a smile as her fingers gripped the edge of her robe's sleeves. The Ravenclaw practically bounced towards the Slytherin.

"Hey, Cain!" She didn't notice the glitter's presence on the table and would plop herself down onto the nearest chair. As she leaned forward, her elbows dipped into the sparkling abomination. She begin to fold the piece of paper she had grabbed earlier and attempted to cut it out into a legible shape, mimicking what she had seen the boy do. "What charm are you going to cast on your snowflake?" She asked with a tilt of her head, cussing under her breath when she cut too far in. "I was thinking of doing the

There were still flecks of green glitter on him here and there, twinkling in some candlelight as if he were some kind of leprechaun or a living Christmas ornament. There weren't many students who escaped such a fate by the time they'd left bauble making, so at least he wasn't alone in bearing his curse. The careful snipping and neat placement of his punk looking snowflakes was actually fairly therapeutic, calming him by the time a familiar face made a beeline at him and joined him at the table. Her sleeves certainly besmirched with sparkles now.

"Oh, hello Harper." Cain liked her last name and decided on a whim to try it out instead of her first and see her reaction. It could come off too stern, he'd switch back if she made a frown. He looked down at his work at that question, his failure as a wizard gripping his little heart. "I don't know any good ones to cast." He tilted his head at her. "Perhaps you could show me a good one?" If anything, Winnie struck him as a witch with hidden talents, or maybe unsuspecting is a better word. "I could help you cut some out in return." Cain carefully folded some paper to demonstrate, still using his opened scissors like a knife to the paper as he cut out various curved pieces of papers and unfolded his work to show Winnie a rose before passing it over to her. "Flowers are easy since they're mostly symmetrical."

The professor smiled at Lily as she offered her classmate some help. The Ravenclaw then proceeded to show the Hufflepuff the folding process to get a triangle as she had done before. Then, she took a blank piece of parchment from her bag and began drawing triangles and how you had to cut them to get different snowflakes shapes.

When she was done helping the girl a few minutes later, Miss Malim asked Lily: "If you could choose any spell listed, what would it be?"

Lily did not have to think long about the question. As soon as she had finished cutting out her snowflakes, she had regretted not being able to make them fly. She always used to make paper snowflakes garlands at home to decorate her bedroom in winter, a muggle tradition she had inherited from her father when he was still alive... If she could have made them float in the air below the ceiling, she would have felt like she was changing the tradition to be more like her: half muggle, half magical.

"I'd love to make them fly" Lily answered the professor, smiling shyly. "But I haven't learned the levitation charm yet... I guess they will fly next year!"

Upon entering the Muggle Studies classroom, Robert was hit with an immense uncertainty. It felt like he had stepped into an entirely new world, oddly similar to the one he was so familiar with and yet so very, very different. Being from a pureblood family, he hadn't really spent any time with muggles. His knowledge of them really only equated to the fact that they were many and his kind were few.

What did Dad always say... 'Show compassion to other people and their cul-...culture.' Alright then.

He found an empty seat, grabbed a piece of paper, and a pair of pattern scissors. If he was going to go out of his way to celebrate Christmas, he was going to do it right... At least, that's what he was thinking as he began butchering a piece of paper. He folded it twice and proceeded to cut the paper in half with the patterned scissors. He folded each paper, twice over, and cut into the corners, again, with the patterned scissors.

This is easy! How do the muggles come up with this without using magic?

Robert then began cutting off all the tips of the corners and then, as if struck by a flash of inspiration, he cut the two papers in a cross, ending up with eight smaller pieces of paper.

And now, for the grand finale!

Wing-... Ah... Hmm... What was it again? Slowly realizing he had not yet actually grasped the concept of the levitation spell. He began unfolding all the pieces, laying them side by side, his eyes blinded by the very masterpiece he had created, namely-... Scraps of paper? Oh... I think I should stick to the books. Defeatedly, he stood up and discarded the small paper scraps he had managed to "create". Exiting the classroom he couldn't help but bite his lip in annoyance, muttering something about next time the paper wouldn't get the better of him.

It is the last remaining days before this year school term ends. As they packed their belonging, Cash has a sense of emptiness in them. They know what was coming for them when they arrived back home. A large and cold Manor awaited them back at Oxford. The green eyes hope that this year their mother spend the holiday at home rather than being busy over St. Mungo's.

But Cash knows it is impossible to drag their mother away from the hospital during the holiday. Cash makes sure that all the things they want to bring back home are packed in their trunk, As Cash is seated on the corner of their bed, Aero - the Emerald Gazer snake - slithers from where he resting up to Cash's lap.

The black and yellow snake 'stood up' and looked at Cash. "Do not look at me like that, buddy"They said to their snake. Aero gave Cash a sad look. "I hated going home"They stated. Aero tilted his head to the side like how a dog would do when it try to understand what its master said to them. "You have me,"Aero said to Cash.

"It was not like that. I just wish-,"Whatever Cash was about to say was interrupted when a familiar girl with white hair entered the room. Pea told the green eyes that there were some activities going around the Castle to celebrate Christmas. The Snowflake making one intrigues the young Ironwoods. "We continue our conversation later"They expressed to Aero.

Then Cash gets up from where they are situated and makes their way towards the Muggle Studies classroom where the activity will partake. As Cash and Pea arrived at the room, the green eyes recognize some of the faces that were already inside the room. They nodded their head as a way to greet Professor Galim.

"Good day, Prof!"They addressed it to the Muggle Studies professor. As the pair walked further into the classroom, Cash saw tables were covered in dark blue and sprinkled with some glitter to give it a wintery feel. On the tables, there were piles of white and colorful paper, a regular and patterns scissors.

The Cuban descendant knows that they need to make some kind of snowflake shape out of the papers but the problem is, Cash is bad at crafting and they did not want to mess up the shape. Cash averted their green eyes from the papers to Pea. "Do you by any chance know how to make this thing?"They inquired Pea, hopefully, the other girl know how to make it and can teach Cash how to do it.

Just a few more days before the end of her school terms at Hogwarts. She has done packing her stuff for the most part. Is she excited about going home? yes, but also no. The only thing that makes her miss home is her aunt, and that is pretty much it. She didn't miss her muggle house, her muggle neighbors, even her muggle butlers, basically all things muggles. Wait, do the Slytherins have successfully influenced her to hate muggles? She chuckles, well all muggle things are indeed boring. Except for the fashion, of course, she cannot lie that muggles have a better fashion sense than witches and wizards with their robes and armor. But magic just makes everything so easy for her. And she does also like sparkly things.

Pea sighed. She looks at the other girls in her dorms looking excited and cheerful this holiday season. Why are they so happy? she rolled her eyes. It sometimes annoyed her when people are being loud, but she hears something. A yule celebration?

Well couldn't hurt for her to join, isn't it? A celebration does sound like a party, and she loves parties. She's about to leave her dorm when she remembered something. She arrive in front of a door and smiled, "Good morning loves~" She greeted a green-eyed and her snake with a tease. "Have you heard of the Yuletide celebration thing? I heard something about snowflake making or whatever" She actually has no idea what it's about but doesn't care really, maybe she could just hang with Cash and make fun of the other students. She has grown quite close with the green-eyed third-year student. They have been hanging out around Hogwarts these pasts months. She likes Cash's company for some reason, which is rare for her to admit that she 'enjoyed someone company' ..but it's true. Cash is cool and Pea likes that she doesn't really give a hoot about anything.

"You in?" She lean on the door and smiled at them.

They both go into the muggle studies room where the celebration partakes. She actually never been here, well she basically grew up muggle so there is not much left to learn, isn't it? The room is decorated with Christmas decorations and stuff. It's very cheerful and a bit tacky if she's being honest. She went and saw the professor near the door and nodded at her without saying a word. It's only a Muggle studies professor, she thought.

The pair arrive at a table that is decorated with glitters. There are colorful papers and some scissors in front of them. "This looks stupid," She groans, but actually deep down she is sort of intrigued, whether she likes to admit it or not, she actually likes arts and crafts. "I have no idea what I'm doing, but I guess I'll try-" she said lazily at Cash and pick up the scissors. She starts cutting. After several minutes she looks very focused even though she mention originally that she didn't care about this.

Another minutes passed,

"Done." She pull out her perfectly cut snowflake with a very detailed pattern. She looks at Cash a little embarrassed that she actually put probably too much effort into this.

"What can I say, I'm good at all sorts of things." She coughed while darted her eyes a little.

Winne was unlikely to care about the glitter on her sleeve anyways, it was pretty common for her to get her clothing dirty in some matter, be it paints or grass stains. She used to roam the school with stained dresses, but after learning the cleaning spell she often looked more put together than she truly was. She flinched a bit at being called her last name, her nose wrinkled in distaste. "Please... Just call me Winnie." After her father had abandoned she and her mother, she had started to despise her surname. "I think we're on a first name basis anyways, I mean we shared chocolate frogs together!" If that wasn't the mark of true friendship, what was?

"You don't?" It didn't surprise her, as a first-year she remembered knowing a very limited amount of spells. "Don't worry, what are friends for?" She gave the boy a playful wink, before reaching up to grab the tip of her wand and sliding it out of her hair, where she had been using it as a hair pin, her fingers stroking over the white painted aspen wood. She was distracted for a moment by Cain's lovely gift, her eyes lighting up at the sight of it. "Oh wow... That's so beautiful, Cain. You're so talented!" How could he do that with just scissors? She had to give him an impressive spell in return. She gnawed at her bottom lip as she lost herself in thought. "Oh! I know." She pointed the tip of her wand in the direction of Cain's snowflake. "Colovaria!" She called out, hoping to change his snowflake to a shade of green.

MODERATION POST
Within just a little more time, more students began to trickle in. She would not dare to show it, but Maya was very excited to see the children experience this old tradition that was often done by muggles (aside from the spells, of course). There were some children who had done their spell and was off to carry on their day, which made room for the newcomers. Maya reintroduced the directions.

Maya was glad that she did not have to persuade the young student to come back and conduct a spell. She asked him once and he listened. Watching him sit back down, he decided to do the fire spell. She would have never guessed someone wanting to catch their snowflake on fire, but it was done. He had done the incantation and slowly, his snowflake caught on fire. The best part was that because of the slow burning of the snowflake, it began to dance on the table. It danced from the burn until all was gobbled up by flame and turned to ash.

"Beautiful job," Maya said to Cody. She then pointed to the door letting him know he could leave if he would like to.

Taking their time to cut as best as they can, Maya could tell it was probably their first time with scissors. Maya watched as the student took out their wand and placed it on the desk. They were thinking. Perhaps about what spell to use on their snowflake? Maya walked over to the young girl and listened. It seemed that she was casting the light charm, Lumos.

Maybe she had too many other spells to consider practicing that she forgot all about her first year spells. But it seemed that her wand only had a small spark of light before it disappeared. It was a nice try.

A very young girl who Maya guessed could be a first year had walked up to her. The girl, @LILY BRIDGES, mentioned that she did not even know the Levitation Charm. This was expected of those who were first years and were working on their basic charms and spells for the first time. Maya smiled at Lily and shrugged. "I guess you'd have to do this activity strictly like a muggle," she said, glad that there wasn't always magic involved.

It seemed that Lily was not alone. There was another student who looked to be frustrated completing the task. At least that's what Maya guessed when he had up and left the classroom after trying to figure out a spell. The boy, @ROBERT SHILLING, had already left the classroom when Maya tried to approach him. She could have made him stay, but alas, there were others she needed to supervise. She snapped out of thinking of the boy when @CASSANDRA IRONWOODS made her way into the classroom with her friend, @PEA ELENA FOWL. Maya moved away from the doorway and smiled at the girls walking in.

This one had taken her time cutting in comparison to the other students. She was spending her time meaningfully with a buddy, @CAIN CORVUS. Though, she seemed to be ready when her wand was out, pointing at the snowflake that seemed to belong to Cain himself.

"Colovaria!" she called out, and slowly the white snowflake began to shift in color. It moved from a light blue towards a teal, and ending in a faded teal-green. Maya went up to the two and crossed her arms. "Bravo for being the first to try a more advanced spell. Was that the color you were looking for?" she asked, wondering how far her determination of the spell was.

More crafting. What a girl didn't do to spread some holiday cheer, she supposed. At least this one wasn't difficult. Fold up a paper, cut out some pieces, unfold, tadah, you have made a thing that vaguely resembles a snowflake. She'd done those in kindergarten back home in Whitehaven, she should sure manage as a 13 1/2 year old in Hogwarts. Probably.

Snatching a sheet of paper and some scissors - the regular kind - Dee tried to find a spot with as little glitter as possible to sit down. Not that it would matter much in the long game of things, considering she would sprinkle herself - and a new acquaintance - with plenty of green glitter just two days later. However, Dee did not know that yet, and tried to avoid the glitter as best she could.

Squinting at the square paper, she folded it first in half, then in quarters, and then pent in one of the sticking out corners to fold across the rest. Next, the cutting step. Cutting out triangles from the edges usually looked nice. Or things vaguely shaped like half a raindrop. Or... who was she kidding, she was really just cutting out random shapes at this point, until there was almost nothing left of the paper. It didn't really matter, what made it look nice was the repeating pattern and symmetry, and that magic happened all by itself.

Setting down the scissors before the paper just decided to fall to pieces, Dee carefully unfolded the remains of her craft, and smoothed it out on the table. There. That looked pretty enough.

They'd been asked to cast a spell on the result of their artistic endeavours, so Dee reached for her wand, then cocked her head to one side. Hmm, which spell... If she'd wanted a colourful snowflake, she could have just picked colourful paper. Levitation was fun for the moment but would only last as long as she maintained the spell. A tiny snowflake would be cute but she'd lose it in a matter of seconds. So then, a big snowflake it was. "Engorgio," she muttered, the spell directed at the snowflake she'd cut.

Well, then. Cutting up a paper could be surprisingly cathartic, she supposed, but it was time to get to duelling practice. With a wave to the familiar faces around and a nod to Professor Galim, Dee skipped out of the room.
Casting Engorgio on the snowflake.
