Now, it is normal to be brain fried when you’re Hanako Tone. From his escape plans, to Enzo saying his tongue got lost- Hana was just there physically, but not mentally there. Like, really really there. Babble here babble there. All of them went in his right ear, and out the other. Soon enough, everything just clicked.
Roasting! That’s what Katherine said during one of their Wooing 101 classes! “ If you ever find yourself in a position when you and your date end up in an unwanted encounter with someone you had history with, roast them. Burn them no mercy. Your date will love that. “. Right then, next question. Who exactly was he supposed to roast? The date, or the pest? Logically, it should be the pest [Enzo] right? But what if Alec was the one he should’ve roasted. Hanako’s short history with the Gryffindor didn’t allow him to determine if that was Alec’s type. Then again, if Alec dated/ing(?) Wyatt, then obviously he liked those sorts of comments right? Right??? Also by ‘Roasting’ did Kath mean like… attack them verbally or, incendio duo? The remnants of Hanako’s priorly fried brain was still there, clear as day.
However, Hanako would soon learn he didn’t even need to lift a single pinky, as there was simply no room for his blabbing mouth. No. Absolutely not. Not with the thrown drink over Enzo and the back and forth friendly chit chat between the pest and his date. In fact, it was sort of good there was no room for Hana to jump in, because coherent words weren’t something Hanako could form at the moment. With the only understandable sentence in his head being ‘ H u h? ‘, on loop. He was, for the most part, dumbfounded. For the next few minutes, he was the human reincarnation of the standing emoji.
If you asked him what he’d like to be in the future, his answer would be ‘not the standing emoji’. Because the standing emoji could mean various things, apart from just standing. It was silent. It was boring. It was shock. It was fear. Hanako didn’t want to be associated with any of that. Alas, that was what he ended up being. Silent, boring, in shock and fear.
And in between those jumbled different emotions, there was that rare 1% of huzzah.
Reducio
That huzzah. Just 1%!
Hanako was a fighter in his own way. He didn’t need to be babied or protected when it came to verbal insults. And for the longest time, that strength was a double-edged sword. The thought that people needed to defend him, was like saying, ‘You’re too weak, let me handle this. Annoying. But he had come a long way since the fight club experience, witnessing and experiencing emotions he would’ve usually fought off. And for that 1% of huzzah, he allowed himself to be grateful to be defended by Alec.
But that gratefulness came with a surprise as well. The second Alec had talked back to Enzo and even threw a drink at him, Hanako asked himself if he had judged him too early on. Duckies don’t do that. They don’t throw drinks and insult people’s clothes (Although Not-Hot’s funeral outfit totally deserved it).
Suddenly a vague memory of the dueling championships came to mind. Hanako didn’t pay attention to much other than Dee. If not Dee, then anything else but the duel, as it gets a bit dull over time. However, it was hard to ignore a familiar-looking face when tension between the four duelists suddenly skyrocketed. At that time, Hana thought ‘huh, same cute face, same house, same height, same voice, but not the Duckie I know’, and thought no more of it. Because according to Hana, his duckie wasn’t capable of harsh words, much less ‘accidentally’ spilling drinks on some pesky jackass. The sudden shift in Hanako’s prior image of Duckie was a good reason for Hanako’s prolonged silence and ‘man standing emoji’ vibes.
“If you want to network and find and flirt with someone, find a real date for the next ball. Or don't, that's fine. I don't see Katherine so she's not around to hear either of those options.” Duckie said “Not him though Hana. You could do so much better than him, you deserve better then that. I lied. His face is fine. In fact, his only good quality is his semi-decent face, and with the way he's acting soon enough he won't have that either.”
Surely, Alec did not just get upgraded from Cutie to Hottie, right? No. If that’s the case, Hana’s taste in men would be messier than he initially thought. Be still heart, you aren’t allowed to be swooned by a taken man. Detach yourself from the hand that is intertwined with his. Thats an order from the logical side of your brain.
"I hope you were impressed monsieur, since that is what this is all about. I guess he is not all that different to you, both of you feel the need to attack someone to gain another's attention"
OK whoa there, Wednesday Adams. Don’t need to state the obvious. Hana’s attention issues were obvious enough, nothing needed to be said about it. The only problem with Enzo’s sentence was that he insinuated that Alec was the same as Hana. That- was an insult beyond measure. How dare he say Ducking was like Hana, when Enzo was the one with the most similar traits to Hana. Chatty, flirty, and attractive. Also known as annoying. Which is why they got along so well!
Sure Alec dunked a drink on him. So??? Hana had done that thrice! All on different people and with different beverages! No way Enzo never did it as well. Definitely hard to believe he was the bigger person here. Not when sir monsieur came here with an intention to spew nonsense in the first place. Hana supposed he would’ve been worse. This would’ve turned into a physical or magical fight. Should he thank him for his kindness? Hah! No. Not only did he not want to, but his hands were still in Alec’s. Therefore, there was no room for talking when he was too busy not thinking.
In fact, once again, Hanako found himself to be that cursed standing emoji. Silent. Boring. Shocked. Fearful. That was an overaggageration, but he did find it difficult to focus on events. His hand was no longer intertwined with Alec, but it definitely drifted there. Damn it, it’s the nail painting all over again! As a result, Hanako was unable to notice Alec’s sudden uneasiness. Disappointing. Is hana dumb: t!roll 1d20 1-10 = yes. 11=20 = no. End = 8 = yes
“What have I missed? Valentin Everbone. Beauxbatons," said the newcomer. ”Come on Enzo, introduce your friends. Or is ‘friends’ not the right word,"
And then another troublemaker made their way here, seemingly brave enough to face the drink dunker Alec. Even amused at the situation. Hanako could understand. If he were also a bystander of this whole thing, he would’ve let out a few giggles here and there. But the short laugh that escaped from Hana was not from the situation (well, not mainly) but more from Valentine’s last name. Everbone? Psdft. The long-living, anti- decomposing bone. His night was so messed up that that was made funny to him. Almost as bad as Tone being mispronounced as a specific mood or expression in a voice 99% of the time.
Perhaps Alec shared his sense of humor, because he started laughing as well. Louder and much longer than Hana. Once again,
Hanako glanced back to Enzo and his friend in case they laughed as well, and if Hana just zoned out so much that he missed an obvious joke.
“No, we're friends, this is bonding. Enzo is a pleasure, I was just saving him the repercussions of having to wear those shoes. You know, I'm a reasonable person mate, that obviously wasn't where I meant it to go. If I wanted to help out I had to start with the hair. Perhaps the universe intended it to be the shoes first, who I am to object to its wishes?”
Okay, Hanako had to give that a laugh.
“You two are dolls, It's been lovely, however, me and Hana have to get going.”
Heh? Come again? They were leaving? Wait- what about the roasting?! Hanako hasn’t said a word since Enzo’s puncha-bly attractive face came. He just stood there like a boring loser and laughed a bit. Absurd! Should they not attempt to throw another drink to his face and make a run for it? Why can’t they? Why not continue what you started, Duckie? Alas, perhaps Alec hoped for this sort of ending when he started it. One where none of them ended up injured or mentally traumatized. Fair enough.
While in the middle of being dragged away, Hanako took a quick glance at Enzo, trying to figure out if he wanted to tackle him or wink at him. He can’t deny that Enzo’s presence opened up a whole new side of Alec. Of course, it was still better if he had never appeared at all. But it was hard to hate the guy that brought good information to the table. Duckie was not as duckie as Hana thought. Valuable. Still hate his face and would 100% throw another drink on it if Hana had a chance, though.
In the end, with his free hand, he merely waved an oddly friendly goodbye at the pair. With hope, perhaps Enzo had enough brains to translate that to ‘ Screw you. You’re still not hot. I’ll beat you up in Chess Combat next time. If I wasn’t maintaining my image right now, I would’ve thrown another drink at you. Good Riddance, Not-Hot! ‘. That was a near-impossible hope, even with luck on his side. Enzo was no mind reader. But his understanding was the least important thing to Hanako right now. He had a situation to explain, a date to save, and hand-holding to forget.
.·:·.☽✧✧☾.·:·. Specific Place : Anywhere but the food tent .·:·.☽✧
✧☾.·:·.
With each step he took with Alec, the more Hanako’s sense of dread grew for a multitude of reasons. Has this date failed already? Was Alec angry in some way? Hana did nothing whatsoever to help him earlier. He never explained, never defended, hell the only time he opened his mouth was to laugh at the small things his circuit fried brain could register! Hanako foretold that Alec was starting to regret saying anything to defend him. Not to mention, when he was having his own verbal tussle with Not-Hot, Hana didn’t come to his aid. That was an unpleasant situation to bring in but Hana couldn’t help but think of ridiculous ways to save this.
Run back to throw another drink at Not-Hot. Jinx and run. Say more nice things about Alec’s nail polish. Talk shit about Enzo. Make a flower crown. The ridiculous ideas just kept coming in with no signs of stopping. To the point where it left a disgusting feeling in Hana’s stomach. More so than when Enzo jumped in and said hello. And it was understandable! He had a grade to save! And yet a nagging thought in his head was saying, ‘ehe, like you cared so much about this grade in the first place’.
But then there was the 2nd reason! To see what's so good about this Alec Mason that had Wyatt totally infatuated with him. ‘Ehe’ the nagging thought laughed. ‘ And you’ve found out enough haven’t you?’
Then there was the 3rd reason. An ugly, unwanted reason he wanted to shut up and pretend it never existed. Where Alec was someone Hana didn’t want to throw down the stairs. That Hana enjoyed his company, and would harbor regret if it was all over now.
And with that last reason, the nagging voice went silent.
While he still hasn’t come to full terms with it, it was getting harder to pretend the real reason wasn’t there. And it showed clearly in his tone when he mumbled all sorts of gibberish as if constantly double thinking on the right thing to say.
Once they were in the clear, Hanako huffed in a huge breath, eager to let out all the rambles and explanations his small brain could think of that moment. A last attempt to save this date that he obviously does not care about **wink wonk**. Alas, his date beat him to it.
“I hate them, I absolutely hate them. The comment about you deserving better still stands. Their like pieces of art, sure, nice to look at maybe. But dense, 2d.” Alec said simply, “I mean, you could date go on date from one of the frogs from the frog choir, and you'd be doing so much better. Frogs have more personality then them, frogs.”
This concerned look (that he failed to hide) was frozen for several seconds. Just as he found his voice, he said. “ I.. you.. You’re not mad?”
Alec would only get about 5 long seconds before Hanako’s frozen face turned to a laughing one. He looked like he wanted to hide it, but it was impossible to keep in. Here he was worrying so much, reluctantly accepting and ultimately resisting the fact that the time for Alec to hate him is now. The laugh was dedicated to Hana’s overthinking, Alec’s choice of priorities, and whatever fate, universe or god that made them go through such a ridiculous encounter.
“Psdfsdt- Gosh sorry I just- there's a lot to unpack. Ah, let’s start with thank you.” Thank you? Future Hana would not like how naturally that came out of his mouth nor the smile that graced his features. “ Can’t think of another reason why I should disagree with your hatred on them. They certainly came at the best time.” he felt himself chuckle again. “ Just as we cheered to a good date with no accidents as well, it’s scary. This doesn’t mean our whole date is cursed now is it? Also, ew don’t make it sound like I ever dated Sir Not-Hot. Like you said, nice to look at from afar. And only from afar. Especially after that stunt he pulled. I have much better taste. And his friend too. Jeez, they attract each other don’t they? Pest and pest, perfect couple. I’ll look out for them next time they’re attending balls. Maybe they’d like a visit from karma. ” Hanako quickly glanced at where they should’ve left Enzo and Everbone and sent a quick glare, as if that would help with anything.
“And you-” Hanako began to lose his words again. He wanted to remind him Enzo was an exceptional duelist. And not one with good morals. If something went differently, Alec could’ve gotten hurt. But sharing concern about someone other than him? Where did that urge even come from? A line needed to be between him and Alec. Showing concern verbally was basically like- asking them to marry you! So instead, he swallowed his prior words and said instead, “ I wish you told me what you planned.” Yes, this was better. “ In Chess combats, 3 of us shot him with the same spell at the same time. And he dodged all of them. I repeat, at the same time. Clearly, he’s a slippery slug. Therefore, I would’ve loved to spill another drink on him. Don’t mean to make your spill is less important, though. Maybe we would’ve gotten to his hair~” Oh the joy of imagination of what could’ve been.
Speaking of what could’ve been. Hanako’s smile faltered, remembering his lack of words when he probably needed them the most. Suddenly, he felt smaller. Well, he was always shorter than most of his peers. But with his obnoxious mouth and flamboyant personality, he never felt any smaller than. But this time it was different. At this moment, he knew if he didn’t address his tongue ‘getting lost', it might bite him back. The worst part of it all? He didn’t feel as sick about apologising as he should.
“ I was surprised” he started off “ You.. what you did and said back there was really unexpectedly… not ‘duckie’ of you. And as much as I’m ashamed to admit it- I was taken back. Not only you- well mostly you- but also Katherine, and the escape plans, and roasting that never happened- it’s really jumbled up. I’m not the best apologiser in the world. But uh, I’m sorry. I should’ve said more. Instead of focusing so much that the date might be over already. But uh- you were the only nice surprise among all the other jumbo whacky ones. Rather you leave all the drink spilling to me, but yeah. ” Was it possible to feel so light and be so nervous at the same time. Hanako blamed his sappyness on the weird weather. An oncoming rain? Really? Why not give him a napkin to dab away the tears while the universe is at it?
“ So, despite all that happened, is it a bad idea for me to hope for a nice date anyway? Now that i’ve jinxed the last time I did it. I just feel like I need to make it up to you. Night is still young-ish. A rain might come but should that stop the fun? Maybe Enzo and his buddy are still there. I could do a quick ‘spill drink and run’ maybe. Take revenge for you. Or any of your other enemies if you prefer? You're not gonna let some pompous emo-looking kid ruin our night, are you?” Hana grinned at him, hoping the loud wind and oncoming thunder could miraculously cover the sound of the rapid beating heart in his chest. It sounded like peer pressure, nice.
Just after Hana said his earlier apologies, something was made clear. That he enjoyed Alec’s presence. Probably not romantic, as that would be very distressing on so many levels. But at the very least, it wasn’t all about the grade anymore. Hana genuinely did not want to push Alec Mason down the stairs. And that says a lot.

Opeila was happy to be where she was right now- On her first seemingly not chaotic ball. With her friend. It was nice to actually dance at a ball, something she had rarely gotten the chance to do. Only few negative things were on her mind right now: What situation had Flash and her decided to leave Bridget alone in? Was she fine? Did anyone get hurt? Those questions repeated themselves over and over in Opeila's head as the two third years danced.
And the second thing was that Flash didn't seem happy. For a second Opeila felt ashamed when she realized that she couldn't remember what Flash was like when he was happy, but this was not it. Whenever the two had been in a situation where Flash hach likely been happy, Opeila had been distracted. By fear, tension, whatever had been on her mind then. Too distracted by her own problems to actually look at the ones she cared about. And now that she did, she wished she had done so earlier.
As the two of them were dancing, Opeila looked at him, his changed eyes and slowly her smile disappeared. She took her hand of his shoulder, let go of his hand and instead gently wrapped her arms around him. The Slytherin didn't say a word and just kept moving with the rythm of the music. She could tell that there was a lot on her friend's mind and she didn't pressure him to share it with her- After the last year Opeila had learned that people had reasons for not sharing und those reasons needed to be respected. For a while she had been wondering if that had been right of her or if it made her a bad friend, but now she was sure that it was right.
So she tried to be there for him, to give him something to hold on to without words.

Having the attention span of a toddler or a dog meant that the sparkling ribbon-clad floral arrangement she wore on her wrist had more than done its job. She was definitely no longer thinking of Flash. She watched Mathias intently as he opened her gift, a flush crossing her features as he pinned the boutonniere to his suit. Seeing him wear the piece made the time she had spent carefully arranging the flowers and flora well worth it. "I... Don't know about talented. Wildflowers have always been a favourite of mine." She admitted to the Slytherin, a hand reaching up to gingerly touch the boutonniere. She and her mother would often collect them during the warmer months. Her mother had always had a knack for visuals and knew just how to arrange them. Winnie had been simply emulating her, using the blossoms of vivid autumn colourings to craft the gift. "It doesn't matter if it was store-bought; you know me well enough to pick out the perfect corsage, Matt... I love it."
When he started to read her poem out loud, Winnie felt her heart leap in her throat, and as the Slytherin finished the first stanza, she was lulled by the lack of a mocking tone. In fact, judging by his facial expression, he seemed to like the piece she had written him. If he continued to make such cute expressions every time she presented him with a poem, it might start to be a daily occurrence. A small smile curved onto her lips, she would, if he allowed her to, grab him by the lapels once more and press a kiss to his lips, the comment having the desired effect. "Not true, I'm lucky to have you. Does that mean you like it?"
The moment did not last, however, the thunder persisting as she took shelter against his suit jacket. Everyone knew that plaid was thunder resistant. Her movements were stiff, and her grip on Mathias was likely too strong, given her farmgirl background. Hopefully, the boy wouldn't snap like a twig under that pressure. "Yes but... W-We'd have to go through the festival to leave..." She reminded him, her voice wavering. Which was more dangerous, a bunch of hags or the lightning storm? Although, who knew how much longer Matt would last if Winnie was clinging to him like a koala bear. "We could just hide under the table!" Yes, a perfectly reasonable request. "Y-Yes, it looks very nice under there, let's just..." Her face fell and she swallowed hard. "... If we go, we go fast, no stopping to talk, j-just... run right for the castle..." She was mostly saying that for her own sake too, otherwise she might try and help, might leave Matt vulnerable and without her protection. Why was she like this? It was an irrational fear, but one that would move them forward.

Nigel raised an eyebrow as he listened to Aurora's words. Nicholas might seem more reluctant to cooperate, but fortunately (or unfortunately?) for the professor, his Ravenclaw classmate was much more talkative and spilled the beans. Or to be precise, she was about to, before changing one of her word. It would have been perfect for her; all accusations could have been against the pupil with North American accent she described.
Except that it did not go as great as the teenager had planned.
Nigel did not have an IQ of 130+ for nothing; it took him less than three seconds to make a good guess. "I'll have a talk with you about punching, Mr Cowan. Not today though; tonight I'm letting you off with this short warning," he said sternly to the Gryffindor. "And to be fair, I will report the other student to their headmaster as well. It would be the headmaster of Ilvermony, I assume. I do hope you can describe this pupil to me, Miss Ranvier?"
It was when Kels and Orion tried to calm him down. The Defence Against the Dark Arts professor suggested him to enjoy the ball, whereas the school nurse seconded this and said they should dance instead. Nigel smiled at this, flushing slightly, colours rose to his throat and cheeks.
"I - I guess one dance wouldn't hurt. No, I mean, would be nice," the Astronomy teacher stammered a bit. He looked at Kels with his hopeful brown eyes. "What about cutting the rug and then visiting the Festival outside?"

Aaron realized a little too late that the subject matter he had raised actually was a sensitive topic, evidenced by Eun-ji's hesitation in answering. But he hoped that if she really didn't want to talk about it, she'd say as much and he would of course let the topic drop. It just seemed it was a bit more complicated than he had thought/hoped, and her answer did not set him at ease at all. He listened to her explain about meeting a side of her family she had never known before, and the arguments between her and her aunt. He vaguely recalled a mention of her aunt on the train ride a couple months ago, and how she was not very fond of muggles - a sentiment that had made Aaron a bit uncomfortable to hear. And now he was learning that she was not a fan of Eun-ji either.Regular Text - English | Bolded Text - Korean

Aaron focused very much on dancing as he listened, finding it hard to meet Eun-ji's eyes as she spoke of the situation. It all sounded very unhappy and he felt bad about bringing it up, but even moreso because he could not relate at all. His family was lovely, and yeah he fought with his parents sometimes, and his brother, but he loved them and never doubted that they loved him back. And his uncles liked him well enough, plus both sets of grandparents. There was no bad blood that he was aware of in his family. He finally raised his gaze when Eun-ji started talking about the light situation, and his eyes widened a bit when he realized what she was saying. Her aunt had made that light fall in an attempt to injure her?
Perhaps it was the fact that he was so stunned by this revelation, but Aaron promptly took a misstep in their dance. Thankfully he didn't step on any toes, but he did lead himself and Eun-ji directly into the path of another dancing couple, causing a slight collision between them all. No bodily harm aside from being bumped, but probably an unpleasant surprise for all involved.
"Ah, sorry, sorry," Aaron apologized, pulled from his thoughts and switching back to speaking English in his Welsh accent. He released Eun-ji in the process of apologizing to the other people they had bumped into, and now stood beside her rather than in a dancing position. Although they had stopped near the edge of the dance floor, a few people had to now dodge out of the way to avoid a pileup of dancers.
"I'm a bit of a beginner at dancing, really sorry about that," he said, offering an apologetic grin at the two they had collided with. Aaron was still a bit distracted, his mind on the conversation he had been having with Eun-ji. "We're on our way to the refreshment table, so you won't have to worry about my clumsiness again," Aaron joked, hoping they were not terribly upset about the situation. He cast a look at his date for the evening, hoping Eun-ji understood that he was saying they should head to the food and drinks table so that they could continue their conversation.
"Ready?"

#274782 Blue in English, #a62b2b Red in KoreanAaron couldn't look at her, she realized rather quickly. The witch didn't mind however, it was actually much easier to explain things that way. It wasn't until she got to the light incident that the boy finally lifted his eyes to meet hers. Unfortunately, it was not a good expression and neither was the misstep that followed. Eun-ji wasn't too surprised to be honest, she was keeping in mind that it could happen at some point but the couple next to them obviously didn't. She also knew this was mostly her fault. Aaron was still learning but he was doing great until she decided to dump her troubles on him. Sure, he asked but she didn't have to answer. So why did she?
The Ravenclaw let go of her dancing partner and bowed to the unfortunate couple. Later realizing the gesture would be lost on anybody unfamiliar with Asian culture, she decided to fix her mistake. "Sorry," she added, following her friend's example. He was far more charming about it than her for sure but Eun-ji couldn't bring herself to say anything else....too busy overthinking her previous actions. Perhaps it was selfish of her to tell him. Even if it was just a fraction of everything that happened. It wasn't a great conversation topic for this evening...or any other for that matter. Nevertheless, she understood the look Aaron gave her. "Ready." The girl nodded and swiftly followed him towards the refreshment table.
At first, she remained quiet. Not quite sure what to say. Admitting all those things brought her a momentary relief and for the first time in a long while, she felt like she could take a deep breath. As if she was slowly suffocating up until that point. Now however, after seeing her Aaron's reaction she wasn't so sure of her decision and felt kind of guilty about it. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything. We are supposed to have fun today," she said apologetically as she was looking for something to drink. Eventually settling on some kind of fruit juice she finally smiled at the boy. "It's really nothing I can't handle." Lie. At this point, it was absolutely something she could NOT handle but if she could convince herself, perhaps he would believe it too. Eun-ji was doing her best to hang in there but she had yet to fathom how to deal with the Hunts. She was not scared to fight her aunt anymore but she didn't dare to oppose her grandparents. Those two were truly intimidating people. Surely, she would be able to do it in the future though? She just had to figure out how. She could do it, she was good at that…figuring stuff out that is.

With a parting wave to the couple they had bumped into, Aaron turned away from the dance floor with Eun-ji and they headed to the tables. "No, no, I'm sorry," he said, feeling quite bad about how he had just reacted to her confiding in him. He hadn't meant to shut down so completely, it was just a big thing for the thirteen-year-old to process. But he really didn't mind her sharing, in fact he was honored that she had told him as much as she had. It couldn't have been easy for her to share all of that, and he had a feeling she wouldn't share it with just anyone. "I didn't mean to react like that - bumping into the others - it was just surprising," he continued apologetically, his eyes on her face to see how upset she was.
"I'm really sorry you've been having such a rough time with your family... I didn't know it was so bad," he continued, only looking away from Eun-ji so he could get a cup of juice as well. Seeing her grab one had made him realize how parched he was. He took a sip before continuing to speak, his brown eyes back on the Ravenclaw. "You should talk about things, don't feel bad for sharing when I'm the one who asked. I'm sorry to have brought up an uncomfortable subject, but I'm glad to understand your situation better. Your aunt sounds awful, and the fact that your mothers' side doesn't like you? That's so ridiculous - you're awesome!" Aaron was getting a bit impassioned at this point, feeling a little bubble of anger thinking about the situation again. Her aunt had really tried to hurt her, and her mum's side of the family didn't like her. What was not to like? Eun-ji was so nice and she was talented and probably got great grades! He could only imagine what it was like to have family not like you, and it seemed like it sucked.
When Eun-ji went on to say it was nothing she couldn't handle, Aaron's expression softened just a little bit. He offered a small genuine smile in response. "You're strong, to have all that going on and still be here at school and not being sad all the time. I think you can handle a lot! But it's also okay to say you need help with something, or just need someone to talk to. If you ever need a friend, I'll be just a phone call - or an owl - away," he promised.

It was merry within the tents, people dancing and grabbing refreshments as the wind picked up outdoors. The house elves had done a good job of stopping said wind while allowing people to exit, such as Howard White, into the stormy outdoors. The storm wouldn't put up with that however, intent on raining on this parade/ball. The winds kept howling, and to those very perceptive, they might have noticed more house elves around, bustling as they kept tent flaps closed against the strength of the storm outside.
Eventually, this would become a losing battle for the house elves. Chilled air rushed forth to push against anything that stood in their path. Lights flickered, drinks crashed to the ground, and the tent swayed- too much. Everyone would see that this was a bad situation to be in just as the tent came caving in.
That's A Lot of Evasion RollsWhile some noticed the quickly falling tent- along with the dangers of supports and lights- others did not. While some managed to duck out of the way without sustaining injury, others got bonked on the head by a metal pole or shattered lights. No matter who one was, however, they were all now trapped under the tent- bulky fabric smothering them from above and knocked over tables and supports blocking the sides. Still, the winds howled with victory, tumbling some glasses around the pitch as they could no longer hit the fallen tents.Evasion DC 16

[font=Monotype Corsiva]"Oh just the usual, a sappy lot of Hogwarts students. I was only trying to have a little fun, but apparently, they took what I said to heart."
Enzo complained as he turned to look at his friend who joined in on their lovely, not at all tense conversation. As Enzo was about to open his mouth and continue on with his incessant bothering, when the boy who had attempted to give him a sticky shower had suddenly burst out into laughter. Enzo's gaze slowly gravitated back onto the chap and he stared at him with an expression full of judgement as well as confusion. Not more than a few moments ago he had thrown an empty insult at the boy, calling him psychopathic, but he had not really meant it. It was something he had said to provoke the Hogwarts student into doing something he would regret, but after hearing this bout of laughter that seemed like it was not stopping anytime soon, perhaps Enzo was not too far off after all. This was the first moment in a good long while where the french boy had absolutely nothing to say. He was completely, and utterly baffled.
Enzo cleared his throat and then inhaled deeply, trying to contemplate what exactly was enfolding, but was unable to take his eyes off of the cackling wizard in front of him. Not that he would ever say it out loud, but he was slightly startled by this reaction. He was expecting a few tears, a few punches, maybe a couple of bruises, but certainly not this. Well, whatever little show was being put on, Enzo needed to gather his thoughts and fast, lest anyone notices his quiet state and takes his silence for standing down.
Once the wacko had composed himself, his following sentences were met with a mere scowl from Enzo, who no longer felt the need to reply at all. If psycho boy really wanted to have the last word to feel accomplished, he could have it. Whatever would make him shut his mouth.
Now, however, Enzo's disappointment was directed at wink boy, who was still exceptionally quiet. Merlin, had so much more been expected of him. A true pity this was...
Then the two boys attempted to suddenly make a daring escape, to which Enzo could not be bothered anymore, making no attempt at interfering but nevertheless gave a casual salute to wink boy as he was practically dragged away.
Once they had disappeared from his sight, Enzo could be heard muttering under his breath. "They'll get what is coming soon enough".
After a couple of moments, with a sigh that proved all his confidence that was nearly stripped away for a brief moment had returned and then a light-hearted chuckle to follow Enzo turned to Val and spoke up.
"Well that was a brilliant way to start the night. Apologies I've kept you waiting though, mate"
Just as Enzo was then about to ask Val a rather important question pertaining to whether or not anyone had caught his eye, while also reaching out for a drink, the lights suddenly flickered eerily and before he knew what was happening the whole tent began caving in. Enzo with his quick reflexes luckily evaded all the falling and breaking objects, but many people around him appeared to not be as fortunate. Without hesitation, Enzo hurriedly attempted to make his way closer to his friend while calling out to make sure he was okay.
"Val? Are you alright? Are you hurt?".

mentions André Alarie as Maximilien de Fostoncy
French | English | #586d9d
Needless to say, Mademoiselle Rose was truly distracting. His dark grey eyes timidly scanned around, while sensitive ears listened to the lovely young lady carefully - Hogwarts student, ignorant of his native language, he had expected it. It was to his delight that she was not turning him away - oh, he was indeed expecting that. This was an interesting feeling, rather different from what he had experienced before. Mademoiselle Rose had a wonderful voice (though with some accent he didn’t know) just like his mother, and that made Maxi take a favour on her. He began to feel at ease and less embarrassed. Like what he had done with André, a small forward step sometimes could mean a lot.
An orange cat by Rose’s feet sniffed his shoes and hissed at him, and Maxi stared back blankly, unsure of what to do to deal with it. But finally it sat down to his relief, making him free to reply to Rose. “That’s quite a lovely name.” he commented politely. “I am Maximilien, but Maxi would work. I’d prefer that, actually.” he expressed, not letting go of any little opportunity to introduce himself as his favourite nickname. Maxi knew that his family would frown upon this nickname made up by himself, but - but that was way too long and formal. Maxi was good and short, and that would be already enough for him.
Rose introduced the cat as her brother’s - good, not hers. Maxi was not ill to cats nor especially loved them, though considering how active his dear cousin Lindsey’s bengal was, he now preferred to avoid them. Loudness was never to his taste. And this cat - under a weird name he didn’t really understand - was offensive. Still he nodded to Rose. “It’s alright.”
He was hoping for a tete-a-tete, at least an one-on-one conversation, but someone jumped straight in. It was another girl, beautiful and dazzling in her own way, with a boy following. “Never mind, Mademoiselle.” he replied to Rose’s apology. Maxi had always been a patient person. He could wait, really, only if she wasn’t intending to abandon him.
Recognizing the boy as Monsieur Ye-jun Lee, a classmate with Asian roots in his year from Beauxbatons, Maxi gave him a friendly smile. “The same to you, Ye-jun.” he would reply pleasantly in his own language. Confused, he watched Rose starting exchanging words with the ebony-haired young lady. His sensitive ears caught something about dates and abandonment - what were all those? And seemingly they were about Rose’s brother and the other - it seemed that she was under the name of Lucia - girl’s sister or friend. Were Rose and her friends? Or no? He wasn’t sure. But whatever. Maxi wasn’t really interested in interfering. He knew none of the speakers or the ones being spoken well, and being an introverted person, Maxi tended to such talks with an unknown person. Even though, he still casted an inquisitive look to Rose as well as the cat - who started rubbing Lucia’s legs - while deciding that remaining quiet might be the best choice.
The thunder became more and more audible over the time, and the bad weather in Britain made Maxi frown. France was much warmer and sunnier than this awful place. At least it was comfortable inside the tent. But that was, until the tent fell. Somewhat delicate compared to the heavy storm outdoors, the poor ball attenders - including Maxi - were wrapped under the fallen tent. The decorations were falling. Terrified, Maxi was unable to escape. A shattered light hit him on the left shoulder, making his face twitched a bit in correspondence to the pain.
“Oh bother…” he groaned in his mother tongue under his breath. Even though feeling the pain greatly and actually panicking, Maxi tried to cool down. His calm face remained unchanged, but anxiety filled his heart. What if they couldn’t make it out here? What if they were trapped forever? What if…?
Yet something had to be done. Being close with each other was the first step. Managing to move closer to Rose and the other two students, he decided to check on with them. “Are you alright, Mademoiselle Rose? And you, Ye-jun? …Mademoiselle Lucia, if I haven’t mistaken?” The three wouldn’t see much anxiety on Maxi’s face, but maybe they would notice that he was a little paler because of the pain. Feeling the terror, Maxi knew that he must do something. Finding the entrance? Impossible. Yet he wished to find a way out. No. He would make a way himself. “We should at least get out from here…Let me try it.” he explained, voice shaking a little bit if you listen closely. “Diffindo.” Maxi whispered. If the spell succeeded, he would add an apologetic smile. “Don’t worry. I can try to mend it afterwards.”
Would this actually work? If not, what could he do? It was indeed very imprudent of the Hogwarts professors to let such dangerous things happen. Maybe he had to rethink now. Was the Hogwarts balls really that agreeable?
