Giddy was one of the earlier arrivals. He needed to be present for the sake of his dates -- a Miss Juniper and a Miss... well, he did not get her name but he did get a good look at her. Dressed in a texturized crushed velvet tunic and a pair of fitted trousers and a boots, Giddeon was dressed to impress. The crown which he donned, crafted from the finest gold-plated lead available, he looked the part of the prince and it was time to let his ladies feel like a princess. A satchel over his shoulder, a leather messenger bag was filled with his prize -- sugar-free treats. They paid well for this date and if nothing else he would be courteous enough as to be timely.
His short little legs would scurry after Serena. "Wait, wait!" Giddeon cried in pursuit of Serena. She was already entering the ball proper, or rather erm... something technically adjacent. "Ma'am," yes he called his date ma'am because she was really really old. "I need to at least escort you in," he insisted. He would attempt to grab Serena's hand.
Successful or not, he would do his job. Say a few lines about how pretty she is even if she looked like a wreck in that strange banana suit. She was a paying customer so therefore she was the prettiest banana there. "There is a garden in her face, Where roses and white lilies blow; A heavenly paradise is that place, Wherein all pleasant fruits do grow. There bananas grow that none may buy, Till banana ripe themselves do cry." The boy was trying, reciting poetry was about as good as he was going to get.Feel free to roll, I accept this being my action for the round
@Serena TowersACTION: Attempts to hold Serena's hand. If accepted then leaving Samhain Festival to go to the activities (Eel Thing) since that is where she is going. If not accepted, well she is trapped in my hand and has to carry me!

The night of the Fall Ball had finally arrived. After dinner, Aaron got ready while consulting with Jack in the Hufflepuff boys' dorms. Eun-ji said her dress was white with gold accents, so Aaron had told his mum that the theme was white and gold. No way was he going to tell his mother that he had a date. Even if it was just as friends, surely his mum would make a big deal out of nothing. So with only the information on a color scheme, his mum had sent him a white suit jacket with gold buttons and lines that sorta looked plaid. Aaron put it on top of a white dress shirt and actually felt quite good about the way it looked - he didn't dress up very often, but tonight he found himself looking in the mirror a couple extra times. To not seem too formal, he put on a pair of black jeans and dark shoes. The ball posters had suggested it might be a festival of sorts rather than just a ball, so he wanted to be prepared in case it was more casual.Interacting: @Jack Warren and @Eun-ji Lee Hunt

Something else his mother had included in the package she sent was a boutonniere and a corsage. Even though he had not told her about having a date, maybe she was hoping he had one? Or maybe she just knew. Either way, he attached the boutonniere to his jacket and tucked the packaged corsage into an inner pocket of the jacket so he could give it to Eun-ji. Most people liked flowers as far as he knew, so maybe she would appreciate it.
When both Aaron and Jack were ready, they headed out of the Hufflepuff common room together and followed a crowd of others towards the grounds. They argued what the correct pronunciation of the word boutonniere was, which devolved into a discussion of why it translated to buttonhole (haha, butthole). It was a ridiculous but serious conversation.
When they finally reached the edge of the festival, Aaron took in all the decorations. The grounds definitely looked different today, part of it looking like a mini farm and other areas covered in mud pits. Upon realizing that there was a path leading down towards the Quidditch Pitch - meaning the area that was meant for dancing was probably that way - Aaron felt a slight pang of nerves. The memory of the Secret Blossom Ball and the mosps came to mind, but he quickly shook away that thought. He and Jack agreed to split up and find their dates, then they could rejoin as a group in a bit.
Jack's date was Dealla, whom Aaron was of course familiar with, but he didn't see her as he walked along looking. After a few moments, however, he did spy his own date Eun-ji standing over by the entrance. He beelined through the crowd towards the dark-haired Ravenclaw, only stopping once he was standing in front of her. "Hey!" he greeted, taking in her outfit and relieved that he did seem to somewhat match. But wow, that was a fancy-looking dress she was wearing - not at all what he had been expecting... but in a good way! "You look great," Aaron said, his brown eyes seeking hers and a genuine smile on his lips.
Tl;DR: Aaron and Jack travelling out to the festival together, then split up briefly to look for their respective dates. Aaron locates his date Eun-ji.

Felix was not the type to enjoy dressing up and attending fancy parties, as much as his mother tried to plead with him or drag him off to pureblood events, he would much rather stay home and read. Actually, there were several unpleasant things he would rather subject himself to than attend a party. Despite this, there he stood, outside the large tent that hosted the festival, dressed in uncomfortable clothing and waiting... On a girl.
The outfit his mother sent him was a simple gray suit, perfect for any proper boy of his status, so his mother had told him, but Linnéa Kolbeck wasn't here to nag him as she had during the Summer Ball, so Felix had ditched the usual suit jacket in favour of one of his leather jackets. It was a bit beat up, but an old favourite of his. On his feet, he wore a pair of rather grubby-looking combat boots. Hopefully, Ret would be fine with him retaining some semblance of his usual style. He had tried to stay with the theme by selecting a plaid tie, it was yellow in colour so he could match his date. Perhaps what looked most out of place was the golden sunflower lapel pin he had fastened over the left side of his chest. It was a piece that matched the necklace he had sent Ret the month prior, but he had felt like a hell of a nerd pinning it to his jacket.
Ugh.
He wasn't sure what form his date would show up in, as she was apparently capable of changing her appearance. A metamorphmagus, as it were. A rare talent indeed, but Felix did not know it was one she did not possess. It was simply a trick played on him by none other than an American boy, who also happened to be a blonde Southern Belle named Rett.
To calm his nerves, his eyes scanned the area. He already saw a few faces he wasn't looking to interact with. There was the annoying little first year that had somehow known his name and what he looked like. There was also the boy he had kissed during spin the bottle who had pushed him to the ground, and quite hard admittedly. Alec was his name. Although his kissing partner had been taller than him during summer camp, Felix had shot up in height over the past few months and would now likely tower over the boy at 5'7". Not that he wanted to get close enough to find out.
Finally, his eyes landed on a familiar face; Serena Towers. She was related to the bane of Felix's existence, Arjan, but she was super cool and he enjoyed her company. How the hell the two of them were related, he'd never know. He stepped forward, ready to greet the girl, but he was not the first one to covet her attention. A boy (Gideon) called after her. He must have been a pureblood with the type of clothing he was wearing, but the golden crown placed on top of his head made the Durmstrang student want to roll his eyes. Once his date arrived, he'd have to check in on the Hufflepuff and make sure the twerp wasn't bugging her.

Serena made her way to the eel activity, mostly just because it looked like a fun thing to do and there was something about it that drew her towards it. She was not entirely sure why but something was playing on her mind time and time again, she needed to figure it out and for that curiosity, she was going to the eel activity. Maybe she would check out the other activities whilst she was waiting for her friends to show up.
The calmness and clarity that Serena had in her mind quickly dissipated as someone got close to her. She felt someone touch her fingers and almost screamed, jumping at the unexpected action. In a world of hags and concerns, touching people randomly was not a good idea! Of course, she probably would have been less jumpy and surprised if she realised that he was saying 'wait' to her and calling her ma'am - what was she, fifty?! Geesh, who said ma'am!
Turning to see who it was - regardless of whether he was successful or not in the attempt to grab her hand - Serena stared at the boy with a look of outrage. "What are you doing? Yo- You don't need to escort me! And don't touch me!" She responded, confused why he was talking about a garden in her face - did she have a leaf in her hair or some mud on her face or something? Why was he talking about bananas?
She sighed, slightly irritated by the fact that he was either touching her or attempting to because she did not want to be touched, "Look, kid, just go hang out somewhere, over there. Wait- didn't you already have a date? That other girl, go bother her," Serena asked, trying to just get him to stop with this nonsense already. She did not agree to this. She was just being nice when she left the candy there! It seemed like the right thing to do at the time, she did not think he would follow her out of the room and try and make her stick to some random invisible deal that she did not want to agree to.
Besides, she told him that she already had a date! And she did! He just happened to be... a small rat that was sitting on her shoulder at present. But Gideon did not know that! He did not even know her name! All he knew was that she had told him that she had a date - or maybe she said, she did not need a date. It was all kind of a blur, now that she thought about it, "I already have a date!" She announced in a raised volume, perhaps a bit too loud but she was really trying to back away from here.
If he had successfully held her hand, she would try to wrangle it free before turning to run to the eel thing. If he was still holding it after that, she could only hope that the eels would scare him off. He seemed a bit like someone who would not want to get muddy, based on his dressing.
If she had managed to avoid his hand grab, she would quickly run away with the hopes he was not following.
Either way, she was out of here. With or without him. But ideally, without him.

Roleplaying as iNPC Celeste LeblancIf Celeste Leblanc had dressed glamorously for the rest of this visit, that was nothing compared to how she was dressing now. Was this not the ball itself, the very purpose for which her mother had tiresomely forced her back over the English Channel to the increasingly drab scene that was the United Kingdom? Celeste might not have been happy to be there, but now that she was there, she was sure going to be there in style.
Not that she'd been around many people to whom she could show off her style - mostly, Celeste had kept herself totally secluded, living in an alternate plane of her own. There had probably been a few days where she hadn't spoken a word to anyone but herself, silently and softly, reaching out to the very depths of the intricacies of her inner mind. And Celeste liked to think her inner mind ran deeper than most. People had seen her, of course - no, unfortunately Celeste had not acquired the power to turn completely invisible - but they had always been met with a cold glimmer of the eye that quite clearly said I am not interested in talking to you, and, quite frankly, you are a nuisance in my life.
Celeste spent quite a while in her cabin, preparing for the ball - she had picked out a long peach ballgown with her mother in the summer particularly for this purpose, and she had never worn it before. It didn't particularly fit the brief of an 'autumnal' outfit, but Celeste disliked autumn intensely - vastly preferring winter or spring - and she felt that the atmosphere of winter didn't fit well with her identity, her soul, at all. This light peach wedding dress (for yes, she had bought it in a wedding shop, and had earned quite a few curious glances from harassed-looking shop attendants) was the closest she would get to embodying anything autumnal. However, Celeste reflected, as she stepped out onto the grounds, she thought she fitted relatively well with the theme. If she ever thought the diamond-glistening tiara was too much, she didn't do anything to rectify that.
Celeste had agreed to meet her only friend, Lena, in the entrance to the ball - the 'Samhain Festival', as they were calling it, although, Celeste thought, upon surveying the renovated Hogwarts grounds, the decorations they had chosen didn't really align with the ancient pagan festival of Samhain. This repulsed Celeste more than it might repulse the average person - if they are going to make a reference, they have to do it properly, the second-year thought crossly to herself, or the point is completely invalidated.
Even Celeste, however, had to admit that the scene was pretty. Sparkling pumpkin lanterns glistened in the sky, held up, presumably, by magic, and whimsical toadstools and wildflowers sprung up from the ground. Canvas tents were illuminated by eerie blue light which, Celeste noted to herself, she might look quite good under. One of them had the sign 'Matchmaking Booth' outside of it, to which the practical girl turned her nose up in revulsion. Matchmaking Booth. Now, that was only asking for trouble. What kind of children should be looking for relationships, anyway? Sure, maybe she could see the older years starting to engage in romance, but definitely nobody under the age of fifteen, in Celeste's opinion, and definitely not within anything as crass as a Matchmaking Booth. Celeste caught the eye of one small boy in particular (Gideon) scampering after a girl much older than him (Serena) and felt obligated to say something - while she generally did not speak unless totally necessary, Celeste felt that it was her duty as a fellow totally-uninterested-in-romance person to at least say something. Besides, perhaps the older girl would appreciate it. Celeste did tend to get along far better with people who were older than her. "Stop it," said Celeste, pertly, glaring at the boy. She glanced at the older girl. "Please show your elder some respect. She has no desire to be constantly attended to by anyone - especially you, you little toerag." Maybe not the politest way to go about it, but definitely a successful one, based on Celeste's previous experiences. She took one last look at the older girl then skulked back off into the shadows to wait for Lena.STATS

#274782 Blue in English, #a62b2b Red in KoreanEun-ji was patiently waiting by the entrance, not moving an inch. She didn’t want to wander off and get lost in the crowd. There was already plenty people in the room. Now that I think about it…wasn’t the Secret Blossom ball on the Quidditch pitch as well? The girl winced. What were the odds that Aaron’s first ball after that one would be held at the very same place. She hoped he would be okay. Before she she could dive into that any further however, she noticed a familiar face in the crowd. There he is!Jack was not with him. Did he go look for Dee? Most likely... she could ask Aaron later.
Eun-ji wanted to meet the boy in the middle but the Hufflepuff was way faster than her. Skilfully avoiding the crowd, he reached her in no time. We are matching… The witch noted with a smile on her face. “Hey Aaron,” she greeted the boy, already feeling much more comfortable with him here. The compliment slightly shook her usual calm demeanour. She still didn’t quite figure out how to deal with those. Looking at the ground for a moment to hide a blush, she made sure to compose herself first before meeting Aaron’s eyes. “Thank you, you look amazing as well,” she said with a smile of her own. It was strange to see him all dressed up. Not in a bad way of course, the witch was just not used to it. He looks handsome, she noted. The girl was already aware that he was but these things always became more apparent during these type of events. “Where are the others?”

It was Ari, calling out to him. "Hey! My day's been good so far, kinda." Cody was thinking whether he should yell out what he intended to do, with one other person in his eyes. He thought otherwise. "Why don't you come with me Ari?" If Ari was to come with him, he'd be side by side with Cody, as he mocked Felix.
A manical laughter left the boy's lips. He was going to do what he wanted to do, no matter what anyone else said. A familiar wretched male, several years above him, of course, was here, at the ball. IN A LEATHER JACKET.
"AHEM." The part goblin voiced out. Attempting to get Felix's attention. "Whats with the jacket?" Cody smirked, playing dumb, as his orange jacket laid on his shoulders. His tie was oversized, and had candy corn on it. He wore two necklaces. One from America, of his grandmother's, his normal staple. And the other, was black and seemed to have a witch's circle on it, but with seven points inside. He got this necklace when he moved from America to Plymouth England.
His pants, black dress pants. Not his favorite, but something he tore a bit. He tore at the right knee, sewing on the Hufflepuff crest. On his left leg, had a sunflower near his ankle. This was in honor of his best friend, and a hope to get her back. She may not call him Cody's best friend, and currently, she would be considered an enemy, that Cody wanted back on the friends list.
Looking back to Felix he exclaimed in a rather dramatic way of speaking, his hands flailed all over the place. "So, FELIX. Yer not her to bully me, are you?"
Cody was being rather sarcastic. He knew what he was to do. But Felix, well, that was up to him.
Cody left to look for Juniper, as he so desperately wanted to save his honor.
He grabbed out a quill, which had ink still on it, a little dry of course, and a piece of parchment. He began to write down the words he truly meant, as he was going to find Juniper later. One way or another. The note read;
Cody meant what he said, but of course, he never intended on behaving all too well, after all, Felix WAS his enemy. He had a long list of enemies, and some were at the Ball! Who could blame him for wanting to prank everyone, not that he was going to, or to incite a duel, or perhaps to drink his Pompion Potion. That was all he intended to do. But if he was going to do anything, he would have to try harder. After all, Juniper was at the Frog Choir at the time, and at the moment.Dear Juniper Kelly
Please allow me to apologize for what I said and done, since the beginning of the school year. My behavior was extremely inappropriate, immature, and lacked the respect you deserved. It was a disruption and distracted others from you enjoying Hogwarts.
It was embarrassing, but I learned that nobody appreciated my poor behavior. In the future, I have every intention of curbing my thoughtless actions and learn to adjust my behavior befitting the environment and situation.
Again, I am sorry for my actions and I hope that we can put this matter behind us. I look forward to being your best friend again soon. If you have any thoughts in this, please feel free to share. You may send an owl my way.
Sincerely,
Cody Stevenson, BOOM.
With that in mind, Cody began to walk towards one of the events at the festival that interested him. Picking the crops. Oh, it reminded him of home, so very much!

Flash was not going to go to the ball. In the past, he felt like he must, like he had to represent himself and his interests, keep up connections, and be around in case anything happened. Things did often happen at these balls after all. These days though, Flash could barely keep himself energized enough to get through the bare minimum of his daily routines. Staying fit, studying, socializing... they were the cornerstones of what kept Flash relevant, well-known, able to defend himself. What did it matter. Having a large connection of friends didn't make him immune to attack, not even his own strength could save him. Perhaps it was his relative exhaustion, but it almost felt like nothing mattered.
He tried not to let that pervade his thoughts though, he had been invited by a dear friend, Opeila. They had had occasion to become a bit closer, and he was happy to imagine spending the evening with people who cared about him. Willow, too, had expressed supreme excitement at the theme for the ball. If anything was going to ease the growing coldness in his heart, it would be his closest friends, so he went.
There was no need to dress up in a fancy suit, so he wore a warm cardigan and jeans. They had not discussed matching outfits, as they were not really a couple. They were trying to be low stress, supportive. As he walked into the festival, there was plenty to look at. The decorations were very earthy and quaint, he was certain Willow would approve. He was fairly sure he approved as well, though his mood still needed fixing. Tiredness became him, not only from sleepless nights, but the constant prodding he received for his odd eye. He wished it was gone, wished he could pluck it out-- well, no. He was a Seeker. He needed all the eyes he could get. He would just stew about it, then. It wasn't like being powerless was anything new.
At the entrance, he was glad to see two familiar faces, no doubt Winnie was waiting for 'Mattie', and Eun-ji was beside Aaron Jones, though they were stuck at the entrance, perhaps waiting on others.
"Good day, Miss Winnie." Flash would start, a small bow of his head before he turned to Eun-ji. "You as well, Aaron, Miss Eun-ji. You look stunning, I love the flowers."
Flash would do his best impression of a warm tone, he did not want to bring anyone down today. Everyone needed to be lifted up, everyone needed to be happy.

Mathias Pride was going to this ball with a date this time. A date that actually believed that they were dating. A date that would actually want to be kissed. A date that might want to be kissed a bit too much for comfort. Pride would dress the part, wearing his date's presumed favorite color - a shade of pink. Yes, he was playing to his audience, not out of sentiment or love but rather to earn hers. A lie, like most things that passed his lips, he wa playing a cruel game with the girl.
So wearing a pink plaid suit in theme with the harvest but also her preferred palate, a simple button-down grey shirt and garrish patent leather brown shoes. His hair was done neatly, the amount of hair product used likely created an environmental disaster but the side part was carefully combed into place in spite of his hair's greatest desire to be free. A pair of clear glasses, yes he was not one of those unfortunate muggle-borns or weak-gene'ed folk that required spectacles to see the world but he played the game of aesthetic.
He would find Winnie easily, she looked like spring in spite of the autumnal themed fette. He would approach from behind and attempt to wrap his arms around her waist and pull himself close. "Hey pretty lady," he would announce regardless of success as long as he was not swatted away. An attempt to kiss her on the top of his head, in truth he was using her as a source to survey this ball, the embrace to be seen together.
Flash Holwood was already there conversing with Winnie, he found the guy to be a bit uptight. Not quite as bad as Percival Gray, but a close second. "Evening Flash," Mathias commented with a smarmy smile that seemed to come with the package. He was not looking at his dormmate but rather through him, it would not be until he completed his silent survey -- he was looking for a quarry of another kind in an ill-timed but planned venture. It would not be until he asked or rather was about to ask --where is your date that he would have a look at the boy's face. There was something different about the teen, not that he was one to gaze longingly or lovingly in Holmwood's eyes but his eyes were a standout. His jaw would slacken sightly, his own, matching eyes would widen and the color would leave his face.
If his arms were around Winnie, his embrace would tighten. Not that he was in possession of the power necessary to entrap her, there might be some minor discomfort. "Winnie, you need, I mean WE need erm... to do things!"

The indignant Serena Towers would rush off, play hard to get. It was an unfortunate scene, for her mostly because Giddeon was not a quitter. He would pursue her loudly, "you paid for this and you're too fast!" His satchel would bounce on his side as he moved after her, a single hand holding onto his crown so that it does not fall off.
She would finally stop and rebuke him. Claim she already had a date, a look of doubt painted his angelic features. He did not believe her, oif that was the case she would not be paying for him but whatever delusion she needed to tell herself. Afterall, the customer was always right. "Shame," he announced as sweetly as the adorable youth could muster. No heart break, no embarrassment. But he was all-business. He would open the flap of his satchel and reveal the candy currency held within. The candy was unopened. "Well, do you want some candy at least? I was planning on sharing it with everyone here anyways," Giddeon claimed. The still packaged treats appeared unmolested and well cared for while in his possession.
"If I cannot make your dance nice, I can at least make you happy with candy." That was the stated claim at the very least.
