The Great Hall almost looked unrecognizable. Just outside the entrance Diana paused and her eyes were immediately drawn upward as she watched the magical snow drift down from the ceiling. It was strange seeing it fall so peacefully only for each little snow flake to disappear before it could even reach the floor. The scent of gingerbread made the whole room feel even more festive. As Skylar explained what everyone was supposed to do Diana quietly listened and watched with interest as the ornament floated toward the Christmas tree. Her gaze briefly shifted toward the cardboard cut out of Headmaster Lear that was dressed as Santa and she couldn't help but slightly smile at the sight.
Diana made her way over to the boxes of ornaments once Skylar finished speaking. She carefully looked through the different shapes and sizes before settling on a simple round one. After finding a comfortable spot at the table she picked up a pot of blue paint and began decorating. Across the ornament she painted a scattering of tiny stars and added silver dots between them to make it resemble a miniature night sky. It wasn't particularly complicated but Diana liked how it turned out. Once the paint had dried enough she carefully tied a piece of silver string around the top.
With her finished ornament in hand Diana approached Skylar and held it out. She watched as the ornament was levitated onto one of the tree's branches and joined the growing collection of decorations. Diana could've levitated the ornament herself as she knew the spell but she didn't want to mess up and had her breaking her own ornament. She'd need more practice before she used the spell especially on something as fragile as an ornament. Diana simply admired the tree for a moment. It was already beginning to feel a little more like Christmas even though it was only mid September.

Ornament Decorating Table
After she finished with her cookies, Aster headed to the ornament table, where a blue-haired Gryffindor prefect stood overseeing what appeared to be a mountain of ribbons, ink, glitter, and other crafting supplies. The Christmas tree was already beginning to sport a varied collection of handmade ornaments, and Aster was looking forward to adding her own.
She approached the table and started sorting through the blank ornaments, searching for the perfect one. She moved past a gnome, a broom, a star, a plain circle, and a witch's hat before settling on the crescent moon.
Aster grabbed a few supplies and made her way to an empty spot on the table before spreading out. She dipped a brush into the ink and started work, humming a carol under her breath.
By the time she'd made it to the fourth verse, the ornament was taking shape. She had created a silvery base layer and started to add hints of color, darker areas, and a bit of glitter on the top edge. It didn't look exactly like the moon, but she thought the flecks of blue and purple added a sense of mystique.
She quickly finished, tied a blue ribbon to the top, and carried it over to be hung. As it floated up to join the rest of the ornaments, Aster couldn't help but admire the creativity of Hogwarts students. The tree was looking beautiful, bright, and colorful, and Aster suspected that it would be even more so by the end of the day.

Ornament Decorating Table

LOCATION: The Great Hall (Ornament Station) |

INTERACTING: @Skylar Blue |
Walking away from the card-making table Bartholomew decided to take advantage of the unexpected holiday feelings. The Great Hall was completely transformed. Right in the middle there was a very big Christmas tree. Skylar Blue, a Gryffindor Prefect was in charge of the station with a lot of happy energy. Bartholomew adjusted the guitar on his back giving the Santa-hat-wearing cutout of Headmaster Lear another very judging look.
"This whole thing is totally crazy but the look is really good" he thought, watching the enchanted snow fall without touching the floor.
He slipped into a spot at the crafting table avoiding a group of loud first-years who were making a big mess with the glitter pots. He did not want to make something flashy. He just wanted to spend some time doing something. Reaching into one of the boxes he took out a round white ornament. He grabbed a paintbrush along with some dark brown and silver paint and started working.
Of the usual holiday drawings Bartholomew carefully painted a simple shape of an acoustic guitar next to a tree with tiny silver paw prints around the back—a quiet reminder of his Egyptian Mau, Pearl. It was not too much; just calm and peaceful.
Bartholomew tied a piece of string to the top of his finished piece. He waited for a moment when the crowd was not too busy before walking over to where Skylar was giving a friendly smile.
"Hey buddy, W on this station. It is a good setup honestly" he said smoothly handing the painted ornament to her. "Can you put this one there? Somewhere quiet, near the back is okay no problem."
He stepped back. Watched as Skylar happily waved her wand using Wingardium Leviosa to gently move his acoustic-themed ornament high onto a strong pine branch. Bartholomew gave a approving nod. It was a quiet mark left on a very busy afternoon.

Ornament Decorating Table
Decorations.
Aaron wasn't a big fan of decorations personally, but today he wanted to give a hand in helping decorating the castle for the festivities.
So, after consuming Gingerbread Lear, Aaron headed of towards the Decorations table, which he saw was being managed by the Second Year Gryffindor Prefect.
There it was told that they were going to decorate the ornaments in front of them to hang them on the huge Christmas tree in the Hall. Each person was allowed to design the ornaments however they wished to do so and include other things such as their name, a note or a doodle of sorts. Once done, the Prefect would levitate and hang them on the tree using the Levitation charm, Wingardium Leviosa.
Aaron hadn't learnt many spells yet but was excited to see more magic in action. He took one of the balls and began working on them.
As proven earlier with the hastily eaten Gingerbread Lear, Aaron wasn't known for his drawing skills, and even less for his creative skills, especially in the field of art. With this happy thought in mind, Aaron began to look around the Hall for an inspiration for the ball.
And then it clicked him. Why not just draw the huge Christmas Tree in front of him? Even better, why not make it so that inside his tree would be another ball with another tree on it. They would be relatively tinier, and harder to spot on the huge tree in front of him, but it would look good for an interesting Inception styled art.
With this in mind, Aaron began to draw a Christmas Tree on his ball. As he was drawing it, he began to realised he had started a bit too small for the inception drawing.
Discarding the original Christmas Ball, Aaron took a new one and began drawing on that. This time it came out larger, allowing him to draw a Christmas Ball in it. He tried to draw it in such a place where he could request it to be hung from, which was somewhere in the middle.
After drawing the ball inside, Aaron began drawing the final tree inside the ball. After finishing it and being happy with his work, Aaron signed it off with his name and walked towards the Gryffindor Prefect, ornament in hand.
After seeing his ball being hung, Aaron headed off towards the final table, the Card Making table."Hey Skylar. I've made this inception styled decoration on the Christmas Ball. Can you hang it at the same position as shown in the drawing? That would really sell the inception theme!"

Ornament Decorating Table
Finally, after Card Making with Jrue Peterson and Cookie Decorating with Ebony Vetra, I went to the Ornament table. Already sitting there was the Slytherin Prefect, Skylar Blue. There were so many different ornaments! White shapes of Thestrals, unicorns, crups, ferrets and even phoenixes were scattered across the table. But which one to pick? I mean, they were all so amazing.
For a while, I just stood there staring at the unpainted figures as I tried to decide which one to decorate. I do not know how long I was standing there for, but then my eyes fell on the badger.
Eventually, I sat down and selected an unpainted badger. This was what I was going to gift Mum this year for Christmas, as she loved craft and was a Hufflepuff herself. I carefully painted the badger Black and White, with little flecks of yellow throughout what was meant to be its fur. As it was supposed to be Christmas themed, I painted a tiny wreath of berries and holly around the fragile badger’s neck. Now I had finished all of the stalls and was satisfied with my Hufflepuff creations. I got up, smiling at Skylar Blue, and left the Great Hall with my belly full and my Christmas Card and Badger ornament in hand.

With a paper bag in one hand, a fresh mug of steaming hot cocoa in the other, and a Yule card in her pocket, Rosamund crossed the hall towards the station near the huge Christmas Tree in the center.
By now, she's starting to feel the Yuletide cheer that the staff clearly worked hard to invoke. She still thought that it was a small miracle that they pulled this off in September.
It was bonkers, especially considering that in a few days is Mabon, the Fall equinox, whose whole theme is balance, gratitude, and preparation.
But with a belly full of delicious, buttery cookies, the luscious taste of hot chocolate on her tongue, and a gag gift of a Yule card in her pocket, she was more than excited to check out what the last station offered.
Piles and piles of blank Yule ornaments in various shapes and sizes immediately told her that this must be the Ornament Decorating station.
She made space at the table, put down her paper bag of cookies and hot mug of cocoa, and picked some red, gold and green paint, the Yule colors, for herself. As she picked up some random, circular ornament, she briefly thought about the traditional Yule celebration.
Being a celebration centered on the hopeful coming of spring amidst the longest night of the year, Yule was full of symbolism of protection, hearth, warmth, and vitality. Growing up, her family had always celebrated the 12 days of Yule and burned Yule logs all throughout the celebration to honor the coming of the sun. Wreathes of evergreens, ivies, mistletoes and holly would adorn their doors and hallways for protection. They'd perform candle rituals with ringing bells marking each start and finish, on a small altar with a hand-made straw Yule goat and a magnificent pair of antlers. And then after they toast and do a traditional symbel or a Yule feast, she'd race to the evergreen tree, pick up her gifts, and open it by the hearth with a steaming mug of hot cocoa, while her mother would play softly on the piano and her father and her grandfather would silently play chess on one side.
As she turned the blank ornament over and over, she thought that it would be fitting to adorn them with these symbols of Yule that made her suddenly feel nostalgic and homesick.
On the first ornament, she drew a simple candle with a gleaming red and gold flame, flanked by a couple sprigs of green holly, expressing hope for a bountiful spring, as well as to celebrate life and vitality for the coming new year. She did consider drawing a Yule log instead, but thought that with her non-existent artistic skills, it would look really odd on the ornament.
On the next ornament, she drew a simple golden bell with a wreath of evergreen and ivy encompassing the ornament's circular center, invoking for protection, endurance and resilience on the longest night of the year.
On another ornament, she drew an approximation of a Yule goat held by red ribbons all over its straw body, a symbol of regeneration and gift-giving. With her non-existent artistic skills, it looked nothing like a goat; but it was a very prominent symbol of Yule at home, so she deemed it acceptable even if she alone would've known what it was.
On the last ornament, she drew a couple of golden stag antlers that invoked guidance and liminal insight as the year transitions into another.
She then gathered all her ornaments and considered each of them, satisfied by her artwork. She stuck her bag of cookies under her arm, picked up the mug of hot chocolate in one hand, and the ornaments on another, and joined the line to the prefect in-charge to have them adorn the Yule Tree.

Next on his list after making the card was ornament decorating at the ornament decorating table. Damien thought all of these ideas were so artistic and creative and he absolutely found them intriguing as he loved a chance to let his creativity flow through him and come up with new artworks. One issue he was facing tho was what exactly could he decorate the ornament with to give to Percy. It needs to be funny and humorous but also meaningful in a way but what could it possibly be. He decided on something he thought Percy would appreciate which was an ornament decorated in the image of the American flag with the back of it saying American Boy. Damien thought it was clever as he had heard a song on a radio whenever he was visiting his Uncles and Aunts this summer called American Boy, by a British woman named Estelle while also featuring an American rapper, Damien couldn’t remember the name tho but it was something like Kanye or Ye something like that. But she was talking about all these places she’d like to go visit in American with her American boy, it was quite interesting and Damien found it a fun catchy song which also made him wonder did Percy know the song too. He just laughed to himself quietly as he imagined Percy singing that song to himself. |

Ornament Decorating Table

100 DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS
──── ୨୧ ────
Ornament Decorating

Skylar smiles as she watches students from all years go out and about with their crafts. She chuckles to herself as a few first years walk into the Great Hall, eyes filled with wonder and awe. Even though she is in her second year now, Hogwarts still never fails to surprise her. However, a sense of melancholy settles within her as she realizes that she would never be as carefree as she used to be. She has responsibilities now, and though her first year was memorable, there were definitely moments that changed her life. With her new course load and duties, she has also spoken less to her friends. Her mind drifts as she wonders about her companions and how they must be doing.
However, she quickly snapped out of her musings to focus on the student approaching her. Skylar greets the young first year, @Xio Arcana, with her signature cheerful grin, preparing to hang the first ornament of the day.
"Please place low on the tree so other students can shake it if they want to, thank you!"
Skylar nods at the girl, taking her ornament with care. It was quite creative if she were being honest, impressed by the swirling glitter within the object. "This is lovely! Congratulations on making the first ornament to be hanged on the tree." With a playful wink, Skylar makes a show of casting the spell and hanging it on a lower branch. She could honestly hang it by hand, but where would the fun be in that? She bids the young girl farewell and continues observing her table. Students were slowly finishing up their ornaments and approaching her now, so she must be on top of it.
Time passes with a blur as she continues to hang ornaments, amazed by all the work everyone did. Ornaments in all shapes and designs decorate the tree as she continues to levitate them up, her grin never faltering. The festive spirit of Christmas was already getting to her, even though it is only September. Humming a classic tune, the Gryffindor Prefect wanders around the table, assisting those who need it. She smirks at a few students who looked like they would rather be anywhere else, knowing that they will warm up to the idea eventually. Some students seem to enjoy the presence of Santa Lear as well, making Skylar feel incredibly proud of herself.
"Uh, hi blueberry..." Skylar turns as she feels a tap on her shoulder, facing none other than her partner-in-crime, @Jay Valkyrie. A pang of regret immediately hits the girl as she notices how Jay's eyes quickly spotted her Prefect badge. Right. She had not told her yet. Or anyone for that matter, really — not even Mika. She had been swamped with so much work lately she just never reached out to her friends, and now guilt eats at her as hurt flashes in Jay's eyes. It was only for a second, but still there nonetheless.
"Jay —" Skylar starts, but she never got to finish her sentence as the Slytherin mutters a quick "congrats" and left, still holding her ornament. Something twists in her chest as she watches her friend's retreating figure, shame weighing down on her. She cannot chase after Jay now, but she will find a way to make up to her later.
Sighing with a shake of her head, Skylar pushes down her sour mood and plasters on another bright smile, greeting other students as she hangs their ornaments. The show must go on. She has a feeling she is going to have to get used to hiding her feelings often this year.
"Hey buddy, W on this station. It is a good setup honestly. Can you put this one there? Somewhere quiet, near the back is okay no problem." A boy, @Bartholomew Lindenmomo, comes up to Skylar. The older Gryffindor quirks her eyebrows, amused at his lingo. However, she still appreciated the sentiment and did as instructed, giving the First-year a friendly farewell as he departed. Maybe she will see him later in the common room.
"Hey Skylar. I've made this inception styled decoration on the Christmas Ball. Can you hang it at the same position as shown in the drawing? That would really sell the inception theme!" The girl quickly turns to see another boy, @Aaron Schwartz, holding up his ornament. Upon closer inspection, his ornament was of the very tree she was standing next to. "Well, isn't this an interesting design? I have no idea what you mean by "Inception", but I shall position it as you'd like."
Placing it so that the ornament was in the exact position it was drawn, Skylar steps back and hums appreciatively at the thought that went behind it. That kid definitely belonged in Ravenclaw to think of something like this. Waving the First-year goodbye, the prefect continues her work at the tree, levitating ornaments up the shining tree.
Their little event was really coming together now.

Ornament Decorating Table
The magic of the holiday sparkled in the Great Hall as magical snow showered down like an unspoken poem. At a table filled with supplies stood before Denisse, her fingers trailing across lines of bare ornaments; though the air hummed with the warmth and spice of gingerbread and cocoa, she remained locked in focus to the small, smooth, white ball she selected from the rest. She dipped her brush in paint the color of midnight, her fingers stilling as they brought into form a new image of a bright moon hanging on a pale face below it painted in a silhouette of the coiled and graceful form of Katya, the feline that padded in her shadows; it was rough, though full of all her feeling, the single ornament a fragment of her soul captured and placed there.
@stelle mims @ophelia vanderbilt .mentionsgreat hall .place9.16 .date284 .wc
Glitter adorned Denisse's table, sparkling under the light with every touch as tiny, silver marks she painted dotted around her moon like stars she could see across the ceiling, forever encircling her cat in its own constellation.
With silver cord she tied a loop in the top of it and laid her finished ornament on the table to rest for one moment longer; soon Skylar's spell would pull it into flight and rest it with streams and bright points of light on the grand Christmas tree. It settled comfortably in place as Denisse watched it with a subtle tenderness and pride that it became a piece of the scene. The Hall still boomed with noise and excitement, though Denisse melted into its flow at the thought of the small reflection of her heart that rested with her present on the tree so sparkling and bright that night.
