Magnus didn’t know how thrilled he was about this whole idea of summer camp, he had heard whispers about the magical carnival theme one from last year and that sounded much more interesting then the theme they went with this year. Not that it was bad more so Magnus did not really find this theme enjoyable because of his background. Magnus knew the ministry and their opinion on dhampirs and other magical creatures, they were views as dangerous and vile creatures who weren’t human. Sure not all of them thought that but most people did and he would not tolerate a whole summer camp dedicated to people who would put Magnus in a cage in a heartbeat. Even the themes of the cabins from what he read was heavily inspired by departments that they had, as long as the cabin he and Vasilius was in wasn’t one that talked about magical creatures in a disgusting and negative light as he would be destroying it.

As he steps into the room his fear was realized as they had gotten the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. His face frowned as he just look around the room. How the hell did the dhampir someone who would have been hunted by this department end up in a room based off of them. This felt like a trap as if someone was just waiting for Magnus to lash out or get aggressive then they’d kick down the door and cart him off before locking him up where they locked up dhampir’s at.

He let out a sigh before just going to the bunk that was closest to as darker corner and throwing his stuff onto it claiming it as his. He hopped Vasilius would be here soon as he didn’t want some random to be sleeping near him. Honestly he just truly wanted to make sure he was closest to Vasilius as much as he could be.

Theodore was glad that he was now in the Hogwarts Campgrounds, away from his family, away from his father. He couldn't stand being in the same room as him for so many days, and he was only tormenting Vincenzo for the sake of his mother, who, he'd later found out, was aware of what his father was capable of, and of who he actually was. He'd counted every second: 17 days, 408 hours, 24.480 minutes, 1.468.800 seconds. He knew that by heart already, because he'd counted the days until the first day of August, and, as bored as he was, calculated the hours and so on; until the day he'd be left alone.

Honestly, Theodore didn't want to come to the Summer Camp at all, it wasn't something of interest to him, but one place he wanted to not be at even more was any of the manors, so, the Ministry-themed summer camp it was. The boy was over-punctual, apparently, as the campgrounds weren't as full with people as he expected, and taking a look at the clock, he knew that he surely was punctual, just as he liked it.

His eyes scanned the board to see where he ought to go and in which unfortunate department he'd landed. That department being the Department of Control and Regulation of Magical Creatures. Definitely not something that piqued his interest, not even a bit, but it was better than nothing. He only hoped he'd be grouped with people who weren't... what's the word for it? Overly bubbly. He'd like to describe them that way. It wasn't like he'd take the time to see who he was in a cabin with, his time was more precious than that, he just scanned the grounds and found his way toward the green-and-brown-colored cabin.

Walking inside, he saw another boy already there. So he wasn't as punctual as he thought he was, huh? Desperately wanting to stay from people he didn't know or care to know, Theodore walked to the farthest bunk bed which was away from the other boy and from the entrance. The cabin gave fairytale vibes, but Theodore couldn't blame them for giving it that; although the thought of "not all magical creatures would have this vibe" occurred to him just then; some of them would be... darker, perhaps, than hanging plants, wouldn't they?

It was the first day of summer camp, and as usual, Astrid was only here for the Quidditch game. Let's be honest here, she despised any inter-school event for the simple reason that something always happened. Something bad. Like hag slugs. Or death. All that to say, if she could only come to Hogwarts the day of the game and leave in the evening, she would. Especially now that she had been promoted to co-captain, since Rome and Val had graduated. But this was her second to last summer camp before graduating so she would try — emphasis on try — to have fun.
Astrid made her way to her assigned cabin, trunk in hand and hair put up in a bun with her wand securing it. The cabin was cute, cosy. All earth tones, plants and sketches. A nice living room area. Three bedrooms. And two kids already in their self-assigned beds. A blond boy was in the darkest corner in the less luminous room — Astrid had seen him before... maybe on a sports team? A younger brunette was on the bedroom opposed to the first one. From what she could see of their faces, the didn't want to be here, probably even more so than her. So she moved to the room that was free of sulking tweens and put her trunk on one of the top bunks.

Summer camp. The words made him want to puke, just a little. Who would willingly want to go to one of those? Him, that’s who. Back when he was seven there had been a sign-up for a week long camp focused on astronomy. He had pleaded with his mom to let him go, but in the end they simply didn’t have the money. This camp was supposed to last the entire month. He had paid little attention to the info he had been sent, ending in his father signing him up for a cabin and a theme. Harvey was only told he would most probably share with other students from Durmstrang.

Taking a look at the list of where everyone would be staying he suppressed a humorless laugh. Since he was expelled from Ilvermorny his dad had talked of little else than how important it was to his rising political career that Harvey be on his best behavior. Going so far as to seek a favor in order to be relieved of the burden it would be to sponsor Harvey’s entrance to Durmstrang. The camp being themed after the ministry of magic was simply peak humor from someone who did not wish him well. But he kept silent, at least for now. Getting the cabin number he trudged across the campgrounds. Dressed to his preference in a tattered band tee and a thick flannel, jeans and shoes betraying just how much of a city child he was, he threw his bag over his shoulder and trudged along.

He entered right after an older blonde. The door had closed less than a minute before he flung it open. Not really relishing the fact that he might need to pull out his broken russian he remained silent and stepped inside. The first he noticed was the colors. It looked like an almond mom had thrown up in there. Yes beige, such a vivid color. Dumping his bag right inside the door for someone to stumble over, he took a few steps into the room and inspected it with a critical eye. He supposed the earth tones were not the worst when it was paired with this light. But he muttered a bit about it nonetheless. What caught his attention next was the creatures everywhere. Informational posters, paintings, even a mural on one of the walls. The colors of it made him miss his spray paint. He hadn’t touched it in almost a year, and now his fingers itched to add a touch of his own.

Moving his attention to the people present. The first bedroom containing a person he would have rather not seen again. Of course Prince Charming was in the same cabin… Why would his luck start changing now? He turned his back on that room and looked towards the one on the opposite end. A dark haired boy around his age. That piqued his interest more. Though he looked very clean. If this ended up being a prince charming in training he could swear he would lose it. Not a scratch on him either! Suddenly conscious of his own he tugged the collar of the flannel up a bit in an attempt to hide his neck.

That left the room the girl entered. Harvey was outspoken as few, but that much brawn was not in his possession. What would he even say anyways? ‘Hey blondie, wanna share a room?’ He would be pummeled before the last words left his mouth, he was sure of it. So he zeroed in on the couch in the opposite direction. Planting himself there it did not take long before he slung his legs up on the coffee table. Sitting there, leant back with his arm slung over the back, he finally felt confident enough to bring out the dreaded language. Letting a smirk appear on his face he spoke up. «So, are you guys as excited as I am? I bet this month is gonna be a-» He paused to take another critical look around the cabin before finishing «-beast of a time» His accent was prominent, featuring some of the drawl known from the southern US. He could hear it as he spoke, but did not inhabit the practice needed to conceal it.

When Felix had signed up for a cabin, the description of a magical creature theme had caught his eye. What he wasn't expecting, was just how cheerful the decor was. He'd grown used to the gloomy castle's dark interior, or at the very least how dark he kept his own room back home.

He didn't even want to be here. Why would he? Most of his friends had already graduated and he was left behind just because he had been born a fucking day too late to be admitted the year before. Still, it was his last school year, the last chance to go to something like this, and he had also agreed to take Valentin's place as the Quidditch team's captain so he really didn't have much of a choice.

Felix entered the cabin not draped in his usual leather jacket; it was too fucking hot for that. Instead he left his midsection was left bare aside from the black mesh from his undershirt. The overshirt he wore was more fitted, the sleeveless number clinging to the muscles he had gained from Quidditch practice and the training Yefim had put him through back in the day. Around his neck he wore several pieces of jewelry, a leather choker, a silver chain, and another shorter chain decorated with the name 'Greta'. On his bottom half he wore a pair of distressed cargo pants and combat boots.

His eyes scanned over his cabin mates. Babies. Fresh faced things who had barely started their time at Durmstrang or experienced the nightmares Hogwarts had to offer. At the very least he was rooming with Astrid, who was only a year younger and less likely to wet the bed at night.

It took all of his self control not to transform into his animagus form and hide. He would have to be... Social... For now. He dropped his suitcase on one of the top bunks, the furthest away that he could get.

'So, are you guys as excited as I am? I bet this month is gonna be a... beast of a time.' One of the kids quipped, causing Felix to snort in amusement. "Oh yeah, I'm absolutely fucking thrilled to have unicorns watching over me while I sleep."

Summer had arrived, and that was the first piece of bad news of the day. She hated the heat, the sweat, the long days. But at least her insect friends were flourishing like never before. She had spent the last few weeks counting down the days until she could leave Russia, though not because she needed to escape her mother or the house. Igna's company was one of the few things that had never exhausted her. It was the rest of the world that, with its unnecessary noise and endless conversations, seemed determined to show her that silence was a privilege, not an absence. Summer camp was, therefore, an experience that Bryndis had accepted with the same resignation with which she accepted many other things: without enthusiasm, but without resistance. Her mother had insisted that meeting people her own age could be good for her. Bry wasn't convinced. Insects didn't need her to speak to understand them; humans, on the other hand, seemed to demand explanations even for things that were obvious.

She had arrived at Hogwarts that morning with a small suitcase, a backpack, and a sketchbook full of creature drawings she had no intention of showing to anyone. The journey hadn't been unpleasant. Trains always had something calming about them. The stations, moreover, reminded her of her father, although she had stopped wondering years ago if he would ever appear in one of them again. She hadn't expected to find him. She searched for the name of his cabin with the excitement of a porcelain doll.

"The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures."

That did manage to stop her for a few seconds; perhaps her mother hadn't chosen as badly as she thought. Bryndis entered unhurriedly, pushing the door open with one hand as her eyes scanned the interior. The cabin was decorated in shades of green, brown, and cream. Plants hung on the walls, illustrations of magical creatures adorned the walls, and books and small objects were scattered throughout, all meant to convey a sense of refuge. It looked like a house built for someone who wanted to spend their entire life hidden away in the woods. Not bad. She approached one of the drawings and examined it silently. The creature depicted had slightly off proportions. Bry frowned slightly.

Several students were already settled in. Some were talking, others were occupying the beds, and one seemed to have decided the sofa was his territory. Bryndis observed them for a few seconds, with the same attention she would have given to studying a colony of unknown insects. She wasn't curious enough to approach. In fact, she had hoped to arrive early enough not to have to speak to anyone upon entering. But she didn't; she simply mentally categorized them. Noisy (probably sociable), quiet (possibly tolerable), and overly smiley (suspicious). In the end, she chose a bed in one of the more secluded rooms. She placed her suitcase on the mattress and took out her notebook, but before opening it, she looked around again. There were too many people. And yet, in some corner of that cabin, there were creatures drawn on the walls, plants that needed tending, and surely some small animal that would sooner or later end up hiding among the furniture. That was enough to keep the month from seeming completely lost. Bryndis sat on the edge of the bed and opened her notebook to a blank page. She wrote the date, but her mind went blank when she tried to add the first line.
