Family BiographyVivienne Thorne was born the first child to an eminent pure-blood family. From the moment she was born, Vivienne learned about the prestige of pure-blood families, the importance of preserving magical traditions, and the social hierarchy that many old wizarding families considered natural. Growing up, she saw a family built on public image and community prestige; thus never having a proper chance to go and explore beyond her four walls. Vivi was homeschooled before Hogwarts by a private tutor, alike to most children born of her descent. 'She is going to be great one day'; her teacher had declared long before her acceptance letter arrived.
Vivienne did not mind the pressure. In fact, she thrived under it. Her expectations from herself had always been much higher than her family's expectations from her.
Vivienne's parents, Artimus Thorne and Sylvia Grace-Thorne, were pure-blood parenting incarnate. Arthur, though not an unkind father, did not consider affection his first language. Pride, however, he did. He expected excellence from his children because he believed they were capable of nothing less. Her mother, on the other hand, was more vocal with her emotions, but her expressiveness was limited to anything that would be deemed acceptable. Sylvia was the source of Vivienne's core values; kindness and humility. She'd see her mother do small things for her and her siblings, take care of animals, and feed the homeless. Her mother had set the standard for basic human decency high.
Vivienne did not have to ask for much throughout her childhood. All her needs and wishes would be fulfilled before she even got the chance to put them into words. That was the love language she had learnt; actions instead of words. It was also something she would slowly start to unlearn as she grew up— who wouldn't want to tell the people they love that they loved them?
Although they tried the best not to show it, Vivienne noticed the tension between her parents sometimes. The way they would avoid eye contact with each other, the way their tones would be clipped sometimes. They loved their children; that bit was obvious; but they also unintentionally taught Vivienne what love was not supposed to look like between partners.
The silence in her household taught Vivi how to control her emotions, how to charm people, and how to say all the right things. It, however, also taught her how to conceal her emotions so well, no one would be able to take a peek inside her heart unless she allowed it. She was learning to allow it.
The best part about her life definitely had to be Vivienne's brothers, Atlas and Lucas. The twins were approximately 2 years younger than her, and the best brothers she could ask for. She often claimed they were impossible. They often claimed she loved them anyway. They would be absolutely correct.
Hogwarts was Vivienne's dream. She'd always known that she would, but something about the fact that she would finally be free to do whatever she wanted, made her yearn to go there.First Instance of MagicVivienne was eight, at a family gathering hosted at her grandmother's house, getting majorly ignored by the adults, who were busy in their own talks. Her cousins mocked her for being 'too young to matter'. Sitting at the dinner table, she did not realize when her little palms curled into fists and she began getting frustrated. Suddenly, while staring at the white flower vase sitting in the center of the dinner table, she noticed it starting to crack. Her family turned their attention toward it as it shattered into pieces.
Her grandmother was the first to smile. Vivienne had displayed her first instance of magic.
