2025/26 Stage 3 Hufflepuff vs Gryffindor: Match 4

Wow, that went to plan. This was better than expected, actually! Axyen was glad to have a strong advantage so early into the round, but he knew better than to get overconfident—the potential for an abrupt turning point screwing everything up was very much possible.

"Nec Divinos Crepitus!" That incantation caused crackers to burst out of Axyen's wand, and the spell was able to hit Siobhan. Furthermore, his teammates had. been able to do wonderfully as well. They both targeted a single Gryffindor, and now that Gryffindor was blindfolded and hit by a Flipendo.

Additionally, as a cherry on top, the targeted Ula attempted to cast back, she would find that her spell had backfired on her. Suddenly, Axyen noticed someone had cast a flying blindfold at him! That is very bad, if I get hit by that... Axyen was just barely able to avoid the spell, so that was good. His teammate Eugenia also was able to avoid the incoming attack sent from Siobhan.


Okay, that went wonderfully—I feel GREAT right now! At this success, Axyen really wanted to smile with glee. This was not the time to let his guard down, however. In fact, the next barrage of spells would be unleashed at any second...!

Axyen was ready for it, though. The things that had just happened gave him a boost of confidence and made him want to perform even better than before. That feeling and rush of dueling and spell casting was exactly what Axyen loved about the sport.

Axyen just wanted to know... did anyone else feel the same rush that he did? It didn't totally matter, but surely he couldn't be the only one, right? Questions don't matter right now, let's focus back on the duel! Axyen reminded himself now that he was even more fired up.

Ula did not know what had hit her. One moment, she stood with her wand raised and ready to cause some damage, the next she received a blow after a blow. Turns out the badgers they were up against this time were fast and relentless. They had some grit to them. Finally.

However, not everything was the yellow teams doing—a spell Ula was going to attack with, failed at the worst possible moment and sent her staggering a few steps back.

Still, the ravenette did not let the hits deter her. If anything, the smirk on her face only grew wider as she pulled through the aching pain and got into position. Every blow they landed only fueled the fire burning in her chest. She'd be damned before she let these weaklings win against her.

Hearing Violence call out that her spell had missed, surprised Siobhan enough that she missed her own chance to evade a Cracker Jinx thrown towards her. The sting of the spell was like someone snapping multiple rubber bands against your skin at once in rapid succession and it numbed your mind slightly as you could only register the sting anf the crack. It was no wonder thatit was a preferred favorite of lower year duelists.

She let out a strangled groan as she bent over against her thighs feeling the effects. She needed to pull it together and get her head back in the game. Her swimming, numb feeling head.

Sere closed her eyes and took a deep breath to maintain her calm. It's only the first round, she tried to reassure herself after her Obscuro missed her target.

Sere probably needed to take another deep breath when she saw that Siobhan's target had successfully evaded her Flipendo, and, oh my... Obscuro coincided with that critical fail on Ula's side.

What is happening here? Sere thought, frowning as she saw a Cracker Jinx heading straight towards her team. It was pretty easy to dodge its splinters.

She hoped her two teammates were okay.

With their opening moves out of the way, none of the duellists were slowing down, though Gryffindor did have to regroup. A blindfold was a dangerous hindrance; it made Ula something of a sitting duck, or the donkey on which to pin the tails that were offensive spells. Weird metaphor. The point was, the faster she could untie that knot, the better. She had Siobhan's support in the form of a timely Reparifors, soothing the aches of the previous jinxes.

Hufflepuff wasn't wasting the opportunity afforded by blindfolding an opponent. Eugenia and Reyna lined up another round of jinxes at her with mixed success: Eugenia's Cracker Jinx struck easily, while Reyna's Wind Jinx was thwarted by an impressive burst of speed from Ula. The crackers streaming from Eugenia's wand were truly a sight, pure entertainment for the audience as they crackled and burst with a bit of extra gusto. The radius of the spell caught Sere off balance, but Siobhan managed to just sneak away. She avoided Axyen's Ventus, too, ensuring that the badgers would catch no one in a vortex right now, only fan the audience with a briefly passing breeze.

Sere alone maintained Gryffindor's offensive and she did so well, making the crafting and aiming of a Mimblewimble look quite routine. Eugenia's tongue would curl up uncomfortably in her mouth, not quite painful but impossible to pronounce incantations around. Hufflepuff would be halfway down a player for the next few plays, so now it was Gryffindor's turn to try to push an advantage.

The next time, she went bigger. A cracker jinx carefully aimed at Ula, hitting her target and also Sere. Eugenia was honestly delighted, fur her first duel, this was going quite well! And that is when her hubeis began and she tempted the fates. Ula’s Mimblewimble hit her square in the chest and she felt her tongue tied hard. Well, there goes her pride in casting. She would have to find other options and fast. She made a mental note to practice more, if alive after this.

The Hufflepuffs weren't letting up, apparently determined to make up for their teammates' disastrous performance from the last match, where the lot of them absolutely sucked.

After removing her blindfold, the ravenette got hit with a Cracker Jinx—another blowback—and suddenly a gnawing thought formed at the back of her mind. Perhaps she had underestimated the badgers. Ha! No. No way. Ula quickly shoved the thought aside, taking a stance. It was time to tilt the odds back where they belonged—firmly into Gryffindor's hands.

Unfortunately, things didn't quite go to plan as Axyen would've preferred them to. Actually, this went way worse than expected... which is probably why one should always be prepared in a duel. They could spin in any direction at seemingly any moment, which could be good, and in this instance, bad.

"Ventus!" The spell had been aimed at Siobhan, but that didn't work out too well as the gust of wind unfortunately missed the designated target. His teammate, Reyna, also had similar luck with her own Wind Jinx except it had been directed at the formerly blindfolded Ula, who was no longer blindfolded. This is actually pretty bad!

However, his other teammate, Eugenia managed to fire off the Cracker Jinx which managed to hit both Ula and one of the other Gryffindors (Sere). A success, a victory! A victory that wouldn't last long, apparently.

One of the Gryffindors (Sere) that Eugenia managed to hit would fire off a Mimblewimble, and that spell unfortunately landed. Ah... no, I don't really... Axyen really didn't know what to think, but he would certainly need to think fast and assess the situation. Ula had obviously spent a few moments taking off her blindfold... Axyen knew that much.

However, Siobhan had used a Healing Spell on Ula, so Axyen could probably try to work out something with that information, right? He was sure he could, but it was still quite early in the duel and so this might've just been a small part in his overthinking. Either way, witha. determined expression... Axyen braced himself to continue dueling with everything he had!

He couldn't have himself or even his teammates start falling behind, they would give this everything they got!!

Well- That hadn’t gone exactly as planned but Sere had hit Eugenia it seemed and her own healing spell had somewhat worked for Ula. It warmed Siobhan’s heart to know that above all, she could always fall back on the healing position of a duelling team.

But her heart craved the action of spell casting. It was something she wished to grow more confident in and while she was never proficient, any practice would eventually make perfect! Right?

She collected herself and mulled over what to do. What would be less of a hinderance for her team? Would it be fair to leave the healing to her? The blind duellist pondered over the irony of the situation in front of her.
