Wonderland Waltz

The Ravenclaw has met many individuals, might not talk to them, but she surely has seen enough. She understood Arin when he said he did not enjoy public gatherings. She herself has a hard time interacting with people. She wishes she were a bit more extroverted, but whenever a time comes where she has to actually go up and talk to someone, suddenly she is at lose of words.
The food on the table looked so inviting. She grabbed a plate and just wanted to take everything on it, but she reminded herself to not forget her etiquette. She decided to grab a bowl of Caesar Salad, and the Seer noticed the Slytherin grab some too.
As she was deciding and grabbing, the Ravenclaw heard him ask her about her expectations regarding the ball. "Hmm. . . It's good, a bit boring. . . But I think that's because of us," she said thinking hard about it, looking at him who was busy looking at his surroundings.
The seer noticed he was looking at the games table, "You wanna play something?" She asked, while munching on her salad. She looked at the table to see what games there were, "How about cards? I can play Rummy," she said trying to get a look at what else they had, "Oooh, they even have UNO! You wanna play?" The Ravenclaw asked excitedly looking at Arin.

[quote]
Date? That was an interesting choice of words. Friend date (he didn’t have a better word. Just ‘hanging out’ sounded really casual for such a fancy event. He’d have to come up with a fancy word sometime).
It was a waltz, after all, so suppose there were implications there, even for the first years apparently. Who knew.
“Hey there, Zephyr.” Felix waved. He wasn’t sure about Zephyr. He was friendly enough, so that was good. Just a little odd. Maybe it was just because of the corsages.
Yeah, Zephyr also brought corsages. He was certainly prepared. Where did he even get flowers? The greenhouses or something? Didn’t think there were any (major) rules about that. As long as it wasn’t any of the magical ones, it was probably fine.
Zephyr had called Rosalyn a ‘social butterfly’. Felix considered that for a moment. Guess it was kind of true? He wouldn’t have said it himself, but it was fairly right. She did talk to people plenty. Sometimes it was because it was needed though, like with the girl earlier. Or she just wanted to go and do stuff.
Anyways, there were even more people now. That was good, right? He had been here to talk to people, hadn't he? Might as well start somewhere, and this made it easier, since apparently these folks knew each other. Zephyr and Rosalyn especially.
Felix waved at the two girls next. They seemed really nice!
"Hi Harumi, hi Skylar! It's nice to meet you guys. We haven’t been here too long yet, but it’s great so far. Beautiful decorations, right?”
Even though he’d only just walked in here a couple minutes ago, it was already far more exciting than any of his previous plans could’ve been.
He wondered where Harumi had gotten her earrings. They were quite pretty. Maybe he’d ask her later.
Would that be weird? Nah, it was basically a dress-up party, it was perfectly normal to ask people about their jewelry, wasn’t it?
Perhaps Felix should’ve put more effort into his outfit for today. He’d kinda just called it a day after putting on a slightly nicer shirt along with a random tie (one he’d found under his bed but had zero memory of ever owning) and a few more bracelets than usual.
Then Rosalyn had asked about food, and he was glad to go with her. He hadn’t eaten much today, and the stuff on the tables smelled incredible.
Of course, she was already walking off, so he would’ve followed her either way. He didn’t want to lose track of her, so Felix would probably stick close for now. He could branch off more later, once things were a little more settled down (and he’d gotten food).

Olivia saw Colin's eyes widen as he took in her outfit. She knew it, the dress had been a terrible idea. She still had time to turn around and go back to Gryffindor Tower. She could only tell Colin that she was feeling sick or something…
"Whoa! You look totally cute, mate!"
Her eyes flew up to Colin when he said that. "Really?" she asked in disbelief. Sure, she had thought she looked nice when she checked herself in the mirror, but she still hadn't expected that comment. She relaxed a little.
"Rowr!!" Colin then said in a teasing tone.
Of course, Olivia's face turned tomato red. "Colin, please," she muttered as she put her face in her hands, waiting for her to look normal again.
But when he continued talking, Olivia looked up. He mentioned chaos, Emmi, and a Muggle saying.
“I’m pretty sure it’s ‘when the cat is away, the mice will play’,” she corrected Colin automatically.
Then there was quite a commotion around them that Olivia couldn’t really pay attention to. So she turned to Greebo and scratched his head a little. Oh how she loved that cat.
She caught Colin’s eye roll and comment but she didn’t respond until she was pulled into a group hug by someone who had to be Emily. Olivia wasn’t prepared but smiled and patted her on the shoulder a little before she let them go.
Emily ruffled Colin’s hair and then turned to Olivia and said: “Colin here hasn’t stopped chitter-chattering about you all week. Finally, it’s a pleasure to get to know you, my young friend.”
“Really Colin,” Olivia muttered as she felt herself turn tomato red again. When the red subsided, she turned to Emily.
“Nice to meet you, Colin has been talking a lot about you too,” Olivia said and smiled broadly.
Then Emily leaned closer to Olivia and wondered if Colin had behaved so far.
“I would say so,” Olivia replied and nodded.
She looked out over the dance floor and silently wondered if anyone would ask her to dance. Sure, she hadn’t danced in years, but it would be a lot of fun. She was at a ball, after all.

✽Avery was very late to the ball thanks to her last minute preparations. She had been busy trying to find the necklace her grandmother had sent her from Wales for the special occasion that she had completely lost track of time. Thankfully, though, she hadn't missed the entire event. If she hadn't run barefoot across the halls with her red dress and curly hair flowing behind her, she probably would have missed the interesting bit of the ball. Dancing.
Avery would never forget her first ball. It was the first time anyone besides her father or Dylan had asked her to dance. That was where she met Mikey. Her now boyfriend. He was her confidant and someone Avery trusted greatly. Though she had yet to tell him what had happened over the summer in between letters. She hadn't told anyone the news she had heard. It was still too fresh in her mind to bear the thought of speaking aloud all over again.
That was why she kept her mouth shut about the issue. She would tell him. Eventually. When the time was right, that night was not the night. It was a night she was supposed to enjoy herself.
Avery leaned against the old doors that led out to the Courtyard. Strapping on the low red heels she had purchased to go with her dress. Though she was used to wearing higher heels, the lower dance heels sounded better. Especially considering she would most likely spend the rest of her night dancing with Mikey. Like at the last ball where they hadn't even made it past the front entrance.
Upon quick glance, she didn't see him yet. He was probably late as well. Or maybe he had left before she had even arrived? Avery shook that feeling away. No. He wouldn't leave her. Even if she was a little late.
Then she searched for her cousin, Dylan. Yet another person she did not find within the gathering crowd. Knowing him, Avery guessed he was doing something with his date or had disappeared into the shadows waiting and watching like he had as of late.
Avery brushed him off. If he wanted to be found, she would find him. Otherwise she would just leave him alone and allow him to enjoy his night. He deserved at least that. ✽

Wonderland Waltz

Mikey was late. Not fashionably late either. Not the sort of late where someone strolls in calm and collected like they meant to arrive after everyone else. This was the kind of late where he was halfway jogging through the corridors trying not to completely lose his balance on polished stone floors. In hindsight, he probably should’ve started getting ready earlier. The problem was that he had tried. He was just going to do a little studying. Next thing he know 2 hours had gone by and he’d realized he still hadn’t picked what he was wearing, panicked slightly, changed shirts twice, couldn’t figure out what to do with his hair, gave up on the hair entirely, and then spent another ten minutes trying to find one shoe that had somehow disappeared under his roommate’s bed.
By the time he finally got out of Ravenclaw Tower, he’d already been late. Which meant the entire walk down to the ball had mostly consisted of him mentally apologizing to Avery before he’d even seen her. Mikey slowed slightly as he reached the entrance leading toward the courtyard, one hand pushing back through his hair for what had to be the hundredth time that evening. He was a little out of breath, tie slightly crooked, and honestly looked like someone who had gotten dressed while under attack. But at least he’d made it.
Music drifted through the open entrance along with the sound of conversation and laughter, warm light spilling out across the stone walkway. The whole place looked brighter than he expected somehow, almost unreal compared to the quieter castle corridors he’d rushed through to get here. For a second, Mikey lingered near the doorway trying to pull himself together before stepping inside. He adjusted the sleeve of his jacket absentmindedly before finally making himself move forward, eyes immediately scanning through the crowd almost on instinct. The second he spotted Avery, the panic from running late faded almost immediately.

Michora Tosphell walks in looking gorgeous, she had on a dress symbolizing her rank in society (rich) and her house (slytherin). She wore only a quarter out of all her jewelery. she walked into the Courtyard. she was fashionably late of course. who wouldn't want to be? she handed her purse to a friend to watch. she walked and looked for anyone she knew and her smirk showed she meant to rule this dance. She walked up to the group and smiled politely. "Hello, I don't think we've met, I'm Michora Tosphell, you might have heard of me?" she said, expecting a reply. they've got to know the richest family in the whole wizard community, she thought. she looked at Tes. "I love your dress. where'd you get it?" she asked, she looked the dress up and down. "Really pretty. do you think they had one in green?" she asked, but then thought that was rude. "Not like I'll wear it if we go to another ball, you'd probably wear that dress again." she said quickly, She put her hand out for anyone to shake.
She noticed Mikey. "also fashionably late?" she asked. she smiled.

“I’m pretty sure it’s ‘when the cat is away, the mice will play’,” Olivia corrected him.
Dratted Muggle phrases. Even those turned out so queer! Colin couldn't help but tease the younger girl, whom he'd taken as yet another little sister. She had hidden her face as she tried to get the blush to go away. "Indeed, Olivia! I reckon ye'll have lads queuing up for a dance!" he said merrily. Clearly his responses hadn't been quite what she expected.
Colin shook his head slightly. "Girls are so weird, sometimes," Colin said thoughtfully. Olivia really had gotten quite beautiful even since last fall. Must be something in the wolfsbane. He lowered his voice to a mere whisper that only a fellow lycanthrope's sensitive ears could catch: "And ye might even get a snog or two later, eh Livia?" Colin laughed gaily. Whatever disaster awaited them all this evening, right now was a good time to laugh and enjoy the moment with his friends!
Even if that moment involved the ghastly stench of one Gideon Athanatos. Colin's nose wrinkled as he turned from Olivia over towards the scene not two yards away. Emily didn't say much about him, but Colin had pieced together enough to understand that Gideon was involved in that curse on her hand from the Forbidden Forest. The younger boy he'd talked to earlier was now deep in conversation with a girl. Foreign visitor most like. She sounded foreign anyway, and not foreign like Welsh either.
The drama seemed to come out of nowhere at all. Gideon just stood there, behind the first year boy and facing the foreign girl. What was he up to anyway? No good, that was for sure. His eyes flicked between the girl's face and the back of Gideon's head. Colin's wand fingers itched. Surely Olivia's quick eyes would catch the slight movement, the concentration. If Gideon tried to hurt either the boy or the girl, he'd end up with an ear full of fire!
And then the Hufflepuff boy did something not harmful at all --- but, was he trying to play a prank or something? That sounded more like Pi! He just poured his cup of juice out on the younger boy's shoulder! Colin relaxed. That wasn't worth setting the lad on fire. Colin's expression changed from concern to mirth, but it was the first year that set him back to laughing! Laddie literally just slipped out of his jacket and hooked it onto Gideon's hand, sopping wet and all! "There. You can figure out a way to clean it when me and my friend here, are on the dance floor," he said smiling.
Colin laughed and bapped Gideon's shoulder as the first year turned his back! "Ye heard the lad! Make sure ye get aa the bits out too! Heheh! I reckon those two'll be snogging by the end of this evening, right? I mean. She's really kind of ---"
"EEP!" Colin squeaked and drew a sudden breath as he felt Emily's arms surround him in her enthusiastic embrace! He would never tire of that feeling! Colin completely forgot about Gideon and his little drama. He laughed as happily as Emily ruffled his hair and he took her hands into his, bowing gracefully. As he straightened up again, his eyes found Emily's. Those gorgeous sunlight behind clouds hazel eyes. "Eyes of Sky," he said simply. He took in her red shirt and black dress. Practicality over aesthetics, yet simply elegant.
Colin's heart thumped and he could feel it was his own turn to blush! "There isn't a day in the year when you don't look beautiful, Emmi! But tonight under the stars ---" Colin recalled the night last year, under the same stars, when he had first looked upon his love with the eyes of the wolf "--- I do love you, Emily Shephard!"
Suddenly energised, Colin looked from Emily to Olivia and back. "So! Shall we enjoy the ball before someone blows the whole place up?" Colin gave both girls a wide, fangy grin. He slipped his wand from its sheath again. No fire erupted from it. "Orchideous!" he cried, showering his friend and his sweetheart with flowers!

English - Japanese - Thoughts April 19, 2026 @Hikari Fujimoto Wonderland Waltz-----The lights set in the chandeliers glimmered faintly above them, their illumination stretching over the entire Courtyard. The Wonderland Waltz was already in full swing, with students in every direction. Akari stepped into it alongside Hikari, absorbing every little detail he could see. The rose bushes shimmered in a metallic way, flashing between red and white, which perfectly complemented his outfit, for which he was thankful as protection from the cool spring air. The weather was by no means uncomfortable, but it was certainly cosier with than without. Beyond the stone detailings, the night sky stretched deep and blue across the Grounds.-----The decorations were even more intricate than upon first glance. The central feature was a white gazebo, adorned with weeping and blooming vines, and a giant clock lain on the ground. Akari stared it it for a good few moments, wondering what was going on with that, before realising its intended purpose: a dance floor. "Dancing on the face of a clock is certainly innovative," he commented thoughtfully. Some of the attendees were already making their way to the stage-like surface, opening the evening with an early dance. "That would feel a little strange, wouldn't it?"
-----"No, nothing in particular," Akari mused, turning his attention from the decor to the people standing amongst it. The night felt a bit more subdued than usual. "Time to go explore, right?" He flashed Hikari a signature smile, watching him adjust one of his cuffs. Akari thought their outfits contrasted nicely, green and red without looking like Christmas baubles.
-----His first venture didn't have much of a destination. He picked a curious pathway around the rose bushes, expecting Hikari to follow him. He wanted to look at everything first before finding somewhere to spend the rest of the evening. Last year, he might have bounded straight to peer at the offerings on the tables, but wasn't it better to weigh out all the options?- --

Wonderland Waltz
Interacting with: @Emiline Hunter Date: 4/19/2026, 7 pm Speech: #3CB371 | Thoughts: italics
Click. Click. Click.
As the young Slytherin trekked to the Wonderland Waltz, her heels tapped against the ground. The folds of her dress swayed with each movement. A happy smile graced her lips. While the Hogwarts balls were notorious for chaos, she was still quite happy to attend such an event. For the last few balls, she kept to herself in one of the escape or puzzle rooms the planning committees designed for the students to enjoy. If she had to be honest, she rather enjoyed those puzzles. They were, after all, a bunch of fun! Plus, she enjoyed the collaboration aspect.
This ball, however, Kaitlyn had a date with Miss Emiline Hunter, a Hufflepuff student in her year. While she was scared and nervous … and frankly, her shyness was still very present in her mind … that was not about to stop her from attending. Oh no. She made a commitment. Even though there could be plenty to say about her personality (or at times her lack thereof), she was not the type of girl to renegade against her word. If she said that she would attend, she would. The same applied to her prefect duties … which was why she was not a fan of running to dish out detentions.
Upon her arrival, Kaitlyn spotted the rather beautiful decorations littered around the courtyard. Just like for every event, the ball planning committee certainly outdid themselves on such exquisite detail! Alice in Wonderland had been such an amazing book … and to be fair, she certainly re-read that classic in the days leading up to this event … and an awesome film (and some nice video games, as well). Of course, there were plenty of snacks and drinks … likely laced.
It didn’t take her blue eyes long to zero in on a certain pretty Hufflepuff girl. The girl who asked her out by making her a cookie. And now, they were to attend this ball together, and Kaitlyn was ecstatic! As she moved closer to Emiline, Kaitlyn adjusted her careful movements to be far more graceful and elegant. Slow and careful.
“Hiya Emiline,” Kaitlyn greeted her with a bright smile, her words laced with her characteristic shyness. “I love your dress!” She held out a pink rose corsage, identical to the one that she was wearing.

Your hobbies are part of you, and if you want to show people who you are, you need quality hobbies. The familiar heavy, deep voice always reminded him of this. His father was very pecular on how everything around him represents him. And something as tiny as playing with sand would show disgrace to his image. Do not act like a child, Arin.
But the excitement in the girl's eyes restrained him from disapproving of her choice. "Alright," he said as he sighed, putting his plate down, taking a sip of the water he grabbed. He stood to look around while he waited for Ava to finish her meal. He looked around to see many familiar faces. He didn't have the energy to talk to others, as he was already forced enough to come here. He looked at her, "Do you want a drink?" He asked her, grabbed whatever she needed and grabbed a glass of lemonade.
Ava, once done with her meal, made their way to the game table. They found empty seats, grabbing a pack of UNO. Arin wasn't very familiar with UNO. It looked like a bunch of cards similar to a deck, just with different colours and symbols. "How do you play it?" He asked her, expecting a laugh from her.
