It’s fine! 9 is the WDC (wisdom check) for the spell Incendio. You can find this WDC next to the spell name in the dueling spells list.Julia Evans wrote: 1 Feb 2026, 16:56Forgive me if I missed something, but in the example, you show 13 > 9. What is the 9?Avery Gray wrote: 7 Jan 2026, 12:42If you are dueling officially, you write at least 50 words about what happened in the mod post such as your character’s reaction to getting hit by a spell. The same is for unofficial, but 200 word minimum word count.Alex Thompson wrote: 7 Jan 2026, 12:36 What exactly do we write in our post during the duel? I have read some of the duel and nothing about the spell is written. Also, what is WDC and how is it calculated?
As far as WDC, those are basically wisdom rolls (official name Wisdom Check). They are calculated by rolling a d20 die. Once you roll the die, you take that number it gives you and put it in the brackets. Then you take the person’s wisdom and add it to what you get from the die roll. These will be added together and if the number is greater than the WDC, the spell is a success. If it is less, the spell fails.
An example:
Avery casts Incendio:
WDC d20 [6] + 7 = 13
13 > 9 (success!)
After the spell is a success, then you have to do an accuracy roll to see if the spell hits. Hope this helps!![]()
Yes. Every time someone casts a spell you will do a different dice roll. You also will do a different dice roll for accuracy check. Feel free to check my newest duel mod (for A Duel, Perhaps?) and you can see how the mod works for different spells and other things like dodge.Julia Evans wrote: 1 Feb 2026, 17:05Ok... @Julia Evans basically, every time you cast a spell a roll is performed to calculate whether the cast is successful or not. Each duelling spell has its own WDC which determines the difficulty of the spell. For Incendio, that is 9. This means that you need to roll a dice (a d20) and add your wisdom stat and if the number that is rolled is higher than 9, the spell is cast successfully. The only exception to this is rolling a 1, which means you critically fail and the spell backfires.
I hope this makes sense!

Duelling Questions
Hi,
I have a quick question about the wandmaker special ability (as it would relate to me):
Thanks!
I have a quick question about the wandmaker special ability (as it would relate to me):
Could someone explain the last clause there where it says "Mostly Relevant for unofficial duels"? Does it not stack during like inner-house duels? Does it stack with more than one ally? Or would the person need to call which person the extra accuracy was coming from (like which person has lower than half their health).15. Snallygaster Heartstring: +1 Acc when ally's health is low
• When an ally is at < 50% of their maximum HP, the wand owner gains a stacking +1 to their Accuracy for spells cast with the wand.
• When one such ally is healed back to 50% or more of their maximum HP, the +1 buff is lost.
• You do not count as your own ally. Once you define someone as the target of a spell detrimental to them, they cannot count as your ally.
• Stacks to a maximum of +5 accuracy. (Mostly relevant for unofficial duels.)
Thanks!
Duelling Questions
As in an official duel you only really have 2 allies you can only have a max of +2 to your spells, this means that during something unofficial where you can have more allies you will be able to get up to a max of +5.Alina Carnell wrote: 11 Mar 2026, 15:48 Hi,

When you use a spell to nullify, does it nullify in the same round? For example if _____ spell removes whole effect and stat loss. So choosing that spell as my action will in the same round, for example, reverse the -3 EVA and -125 HP?
Duelling Questions
It will only nullify the effects of the spell such as stat loss or flaming effect of Incendio. As far as I know, it will not nullify damage.Julia Evans wrote: 16 Mar 2026, 11:45 When you use a spell to nullify, does it nullify in the same round? So, for example, if my EVA becomes 5 after being a 3 by using the spell, in the EVA roll for the opponent's spell, will the 5 apply or the 3?
