Hi Julia! There's no official club for duelling. You can search through the the Clans and Clubs forum to see if there are any student-run duelling clubs that suit your fancy.

However, if you would like to join your house duelling team and participate in the Duelling Championship, you can navigate to your house's Out of Character Room. There will be a thread near the top of the forum called 'Wanted: Duelists'. Make sure you meet the specified requirements and then fill out the form in the thread and you'll be added to the waitlist.

Do you need to know spells already to duel?

Yes! To be a part of the duelling team you need to have a minimum of 2 duelling spells, 1 being an attack spell, in your trunk. Here you can find the list of spells that are used in duelling!

OOC FAQ Duelling Questions
What exactly do we write in our post during the duel? I have read some of the duel and nothing about the spell is written. Also, what is WDC and how is it calculated?

If you are dueling officially, you write at least 50 words about what happened in the mod post such as your character’s reaction to getting hit by a spell. The same is for unofficial, but 200 word minimum word count.

As far as WDC, those are basically wisdom rolls (official name Wisdom Check). They are calculated by rolling a d20 die. Once you roll the die, you take that number it gives you and put it in the brackets. Then you take the person’s wisdom and add it to what you get from the die roll. These will be added together and if the number is greater than the WDC, the spell is a success. If it is less, the spell fails.

An example:

Avery casts Incendio:

WDC d20 [6] + 7 = 13
13 > 9 (success!)

After the spell is a success, then you have to do an accuracy roll to see if the spell hits. Hope this helps! :)

Be the change you wish to see
in the world.

Forgive me if I missed something, but in the example, you show 13 > 9. What is the 9?
