This event is part of the 2026 International Magical Olympic Games.
February 17th, 2026
Lake Bear (frozen), Russian Federation
The first day of the Games had come and gone, and now it was time for the second day of festivities and lighthearted competition: the Ice Hockey tournaments, taking place in the early evening. So as to avoid tiring out the student athletes, each team of four would only play one match, and the judges sitting on the sidelines of Lake Bear would judge based on points scored and showmanship who exactly would win the gold medal.

The judges were, as usual, made up of a panel of headmasters from the various international schools. @Aulis Vorozheykin, as the host of the Games, sat on one end; then down the line came @Alan Dolus from Ilvermorny, @Lawrence Maynard of Tenūsa, and finally Durmstrang's @Emery Albrecht. There were also (anonymous, undescribed, and unnamed) referees who would be up close and personal with each match, ensuring that no cheating would dare make it past their scrutinising eyes.

The match at present was the Rookies versus the Requested. The former team was entirely made up of Hogwarts first-years of varying houses, and the latter team had been cobbled together upon their arrival to Koldovstoretz, since Director Vorozheykin was loath to allow an odd number of hockey teams to play and needed one more to make it even: a requested quartet, two from Hogwarts, one from Ilvermorny, and one from Castelobruxo.

Let the games begin...

HOW TO PLAY
There will be three rounds, each requiring a post of 200+ words. Please make sure you include your character's stats and abilities in your post (NO broom stats; you are not riding brooms).

Each round, you must perform an action from the Hockey Actions List. These are similar to the Quidditch Actions, but not all actions from Quidditch can be utilised in Hockey. As such, please carefully consult the list before deciding what action to play.

Other than the changes of actions, all other Quidditch rules apply, including order of rolls and penalty laps.

The sport of ice hockey has also introduced something called a showmanship point. Note that showmanship points will only be gained if the action is successful, and some actions can lose you showmanship points even if successful. At the end of the matches, in case of a tie in goals, showmanship points will be used to break the tie - but if a team has more goals, they win, plain and simple. Your first objective should be to score goals, and showmanship points come secondary.

At least one member of the team must owl the entire teams' action list to Aulis Vorozheykin before the posting deadline.

This event is moderated and it was required to sign up for it ahead of time. Please do NOT post here if your character is not signed up.
Please do not godmod Aulis or any of the other judges.

Chaewon Lee wasn’t the person who was a fan of muggle sport. When Chaewon was younger, she always had a dream to be a broom racing champion or to be in a Quidditch team. She never thought that once in the future she would play Ice Hockey. Ice Hockey. Ice Hockey? The name of this sport was too muggle-ish for Chaewon.
I’m going to win this game, thought Chaewon. She didn’t think about her teammates because she never saw them in the past. Two girls from the Requested team didn’t learn at Hogwarts, and they seemed to be older than Chaewon. Another girl was from Hogwarts, but Chaewon hadn’t met her before.

Guess I’m going to be the youngest person on our team, thought the Korean girl. She didn’t like being the youngest girl, because that means Chaewon is not strong enough, and if she makes at least one mistake, others will hate her because of that. Her opponents were first-year students from Hogwarts. Chaewon didn't know them well, but she saw them once or twice in lessons.

"We're going to win," said Chaewon to the girl next to her. She had beautiful and curly hair. Chaewon didn't expect an answer, because that would lead into a conversation of which Chaewon was not a big fan.

Finally! Finally it was time for sports, and what better one than hockey? He had never really played the sport much but as he tied his skates he had to admit that every part of the game was familiar. Looking out on the sparkling ice, looking at his team mates, and of course their competition he finally stood up. Grabbed his stick before turning to his mates. Someone should say something, right? A pep talk of sorts. The quidditch players always did. If nobody else was going to, it might as well be him.

He leant down while supported by the hockey stick and put on as much of a serious expression as he could muster. «Alright, we all remember the plan right? Have fun and more importantly lets knock em flat!» He straightened with glee before adding «Now let’s play some hockey!» His voice rose as he spoke and the last word finished in quite a yell. He immediately felt a bit embarrassed, but before he could show it too much he nodded and stepped onto the ice.

He skated a bit. Almost as if to make sure he still inhabited the skill. After a moment he let his gaze turn to the filling benches of audience and supporters. He could do this, right? His stomach was all a mix of excitement and nerves. But he refused to show it. On the finishing stretch of his little loop his attention drifted to the opposing team. Only two of them from Hogwarts, and he did not know them well. After studying them for a moment he put up a partly fake mask of confidence. They would definitely beat them… Right?

The day Rose has awaited for had finally arrived. Today was the Ice Hockey game which came sooner and faster than expected but Rose couldn't be happier. At first she was worried and nervous and had no intention in participating in any sports but Max had somehow dragged her in. So there she was wearing the ice hockey outfit ice skates at feet and hockey stick in hands. Despite the small feeling of nervousness one may feel before any matches or performances Rose was more or less ready to play.

Her teammates and her were gathering outside as Max put on a serious expression Rose had never seen before and he did a small encouraging speech. Actually they probably needed it at least Rose did and she was glad Max took the initiative. Although he seemed quite confident she probably was not as much but she had to show otherwise. Rose smiled and nodded at his words before following him on the ice. She skated a bit drawing a small circle to accustomed herself to the ice. It was such a nice feeling to be on ice again. Rose let the fresh air brushing her face letting the sensation of the cold and skating going through her body easing her apprehension. Then she stopped and glanced at the spectators as she suddenly felt a bit anxious at the number of people going to watch them. She took a deep breath before looking at their opponents all from different schools including two from Hogwarts.

Rose quickly glanced at her teammates smiling to encourage them. They could win. She looked at Max once more and despite the confidence he showed she could tell deep down he was probably feeling a bit nervous. As they were probably all.

She positioned herself waiting for the game to begin.

Harumi felt anxious, that was her first time ever competing in something like that, she was confident her team is going to do well, they're the best team she could ask for, but she was worried she'd mess up something accidentally and cause them to lose, she didn't really care all that much about winning, she was here to gain experience and have fun, but she didn't want to let down her teammates.

----She looked at the opposing team, 2 of them were from Hogwarts but she didn't know them all that well, that team was made in a hast upon there arrival, because there was an odd number of teams, unlike her team they didn't know each other all that too well, she hoped that her team's familiarity with each other would help them win.

----She listened to Max as he suddenly became serious, he encouraged them, she's glad someone is being the brave one, and honestly, it was expected from Max, he's a Gryffindor after all, and in her opinion his Gryffindor qualities showed alot, especially in times like this, you don't have to fight a dragon to be brave, taking initiative is just as brave.

----She looked at her teammates, smiling reassuringly at Max, trying to not look anxious, he reassured them but no one reassured him, she hoped that her team are not as anxious as her, and then gathering all her courage, she held her Hockey stick and approached the goal to stand in her position.

----They can do this, everything will be alright, she took a deep breath and waited for the match to start.

Siobhan's face was numb. The Russian winter was not kind to the stretched skin across her face as she tried not to rub her nose for the millionth time. The more she did so, the more she would break the fragile skin and make it rawer and more susceptible to the cold weather. This cold was different from the Scottish cold, and she was not sure if she liked it.

There was a group of people around her weren't people that she recognized or knew. When she had signed up for the hockey games she had hoped in vain that there would be someone on the team who might have known her. Though it didn't seem to be the case and Siobhan had resigned herself to remaining respectful to those who she would be playing the game with.

She cracked her knuckles as she thought about the game that was fast approaching. Siobhan loved ice-hockey. She loved the feel of smacking the puck across the ice and playing keep away from her siblings whenever the Loch near their home was frozen enough. It had been some time since she had donned skates and with her newfound loss of sight, she wasn't sure how this would go if she wasn't in the right mindset to think about her actions. When she had heard about the hockey game there had been lots of allusions to Quidditch- a game she was woefully unfamiliar with. But everything seemed unfamiliar to her now.

Still, she couldn't help but rub her nose again and look up at the sky.

Now, Denise isn’t a seasoned expert in ice hockey. But hey, she learned how to ice skate, and well, she played lacrosse during the summer back in primary school, so technically she’s qualified, right?

Denise, who has never travelled outside of the UK or Scotland, excluding London, for a weird trip from the southern Highlands to London to Hogwarts. She was fascinated by Koldovstoretz, situated in the Ural Mountains, with the donut-shaped Lake Beak draining through the Yenisei River. Are all magical schools situated in the mountains with a lake… Denise had to wonder.

It was cold, well, Scotland is usually cold as well. Denise was happy to join Harumi Everdane, Max Kenneally Vidler, and Rose Pearce on The Rookies, well-suited them, classmates she barely knew, but hey, there’s a first for everything. “…lets knock 'em flat!” Max added some other words of encouragement, but Denise was more nervous about being knocked down by the other team, considering that she honestly wasn’t an expert in the sport.

She recognized two students from Hogwarts, and two others… she didn’t exactly recognize. She positioned herself, nervous but secretly excited, ready to give in to her all. Denise wondered, can we really win? Denise sniffed once more, trying to clear her nose stuffed from the cold air, positioning confidently despite her tumbling feelings inside her. Her hands trembled as she held her twig tight, staring ahead and preparing, while watching the judges and the spectators out of the corner of her eye.

───Ariana wasn't sure what made her go to Koldovstoretz in the first place. Perhaps it was merely because the idea of IMOG interested her, and actually competing even more so. She had attended the errand to cheer on the athletes from her school, but it would make no sense for there to be nobody holding up he own banners, or a stranger doing so. And after all, the sports themselves seemed intriguing. So why not come? The Tenūsa event had proved to be quite alright, and there was no harm in attending, it seemed.

However, Ariana soon realized that the expectations she would have for Koldovstoretz would undoubtedly change completely, the cold biting its way into her skin but also leaving unwanted thoughts to dissipate. She would not be competing with players from her house, but there would at least be less at stake. Not as much house pride that would both fuel her and bring her down if the stakes were too high. Especially if they lost.

When entering the rink, the huntress did not complain, though. She was here to play and to win; to do her best and nothing less both for her team and for herself. It was time to show her opponents what she was made of.

The second Devon saw the sign-ups for the International Magical Olympic Games, she knew that she had to jump on the Ice Hockey games. Sure, her favorite no-maj sport was soccer, but she wasn’t the type to discriminate. She was happy to try every sport possible. At Ilvermorny, she wasn’t shy about trying new things. It excited her. She loved to learn, and not just about magic. She was a Horned Serpent, after all!

When she did sign up, however, Devon didn’t try to form her own team. As such, she was teamed up with three other girls … none of whom she knew. One girl was a third year, like herself, from Hogwarts (and Devon had to wonder if that girl knew her best friend, Kaitlyn). There was a second year from Castelobruxo. Finally, there was a first year at Hogwarts. It was an interesting dynamic. Yet, she honestly didn’t mind it. After all, the whole point of these games was for international students to compete. If she had to be honest, she liked meeting other students outside of Ilvermorny. While she wanted Ilvermorny to score well in points, she wasn’t a competitive girl at all.

Regardless, Devon was happy to be playing. She gave the other girls on her team a bright and energetic smile (she normally had so much energy … she had to constantly stop herself from bouncing around the halls of Ilvermorny. Let’s be honest, she wasn’t successful at that venture). Despite not knowing the girls, she was going to try her best at this event. She skated to her position to wait for the puck to drop and for the game to officially begin.
