This errand is part of the 2026 International Magical Olympic Games.
January 25th, 2026
Beauxbâtons Academy of Magic
Several weeks before the students of Beauxbâtons were to leave for the International Magical Olympic Games (IMOG), which would this year be hosted at the Koldovstoretz Conservatory in wintry Russia, an anonymous professor decorated one empty classroom with plenty of sign-making materials. Everything from large poster boards and rolls of parchment to markers, paints, glitters, and, of course, quills and inks in varying colors and of varying enchantments could be found scattered around the desks and tables. A snack bar had also been set up at one end, boasting local delicacies - such as madeleines, macarons, and the standard baguette with cheeses - in case students got hungry while they were making posters.

Of course, the creation of posters was not just for fun. Different schools always took great pride in winning the IMOG, whensoever they were hosted at different times throughout the many years that they had existed alongside the Muggle version. To support other athletes from one's own school was considered just as much of an honour as was competing in one of the games. As such, the professor who had set up this errand had promised rich rewards to any who came to create a supportive banner, whether they were going to the games themselves or staying home. Of course, students could go to the Koldovstoretz visit and not compete; that was why an abundance of posters could be made, to be sent along with the school’s delegation.

A school with no supporters was certain to be a losing school! The audience is just as important as the athletes.
This errand is not moderated.
Aulis is not in attendance. Please do not godmod him or any other specific Heads or professors as being in attendance.
Only Beauxbâtons students should post in this thread. Check out the errand requirements here for links to the other schools' threads and the errand requirements.

Akerrah knew what the Olympics were, but she had never paid all that much attention to them. Television was for people with spare time. So, she certainly did not expect to participate in magical Olympics as a student. Did you have to be good to be in the Olympics? The best your country had to offer? A real superstar of athletic achievement? One Quidditch game that was build on beginner's luck surely would not count.

Despite this, she was excited to support whoever competed from Beauxbatons. There were wonderful and talented students at the school whom she passed everyday. Just because she didn't know them didn't mean they didn't have a fighting chance. And coming to support the school was a good way to meet people, right? Not that she was planning on staying away from the Abraxans anytime soon; they were the only thing in the school that actually made her feel comfortable.

With a breath, Akerrah arrived in the classroom to join in on making posters and other motivational items. And despite the fact that there were a variety of craft-making items, she found herself at a slight loss for ideas as she bit her lip. Praise was not something to which she was accustomed and not knowing many people was not helping. She'd have to write something general or vague—the sort of thing you wrote on holiday cards for people you didn't know very well. Grabbing a piece of the posterboard and a pen, she started:

Have courage and luck...

Be swift, and safe...

Good luck Beaux...

This was terrible. She didn't know how to be encouraging and make it sound real when it was so vague. Would anyone believe this sign? Would they see it and have the intended effect? Biting her lip, she began to doodle somewhat aimlessly, hoping it would give her fodder for something actually useful. There didn't seem to be many people here yet and even if there were, she didn't want to steal ideas from others.

Loop after loop she traced on the page. And with a squint, she realized it kind of looked like the florets on the Beauxbatons crest. She squinted. Yeah, yeah, it did, sort of. Flipping the poster board around so it was blank again, she tried to draw the florets. No matter what actually ended up on the poster, the school crest seemed a decent place to begin.

I picked up one of the massive poster boards, and got a selection of different colours of ink. I chose mostly blue pots, but, as the IMOG was being held in a snowy climate, I knew it might not stand out very well, so picked up some black ink, and a little bit of red.
I was almost certain that I wanted to go to the olymipcs, but I still needed to wait for my grandma to send me a letter saying that I could. I also had no idea what event I wanted to do, however I was determined to do something.
I stopped, just as I was dipping the quill into the lightest pot of blue, realising that I had absolutely no idea what to draw, as all I really knew how to do were dragon drawings.
After a few moments, I decided to do a massive blue “Fleur de Lis”, the national flower and symbol of France, mostly because I had no idea how to draw the Beauxbatons logo. I put down the light blue ink, instead picking up the black, to draw the outline before filling it in.
I looked up, and stretched out my neck, as it was getting sore, and, taking advantage of a break, I went over to the snacks table to pick up a madeleine, which I started to eat while walking back to where I was working.
On the way back to my banner, I passed another girl, who I thought I recognised slightly, but I didn’t know her name, and I’d never chatted to her, meaning I also didn’t know what language she spoke, so I decided to speak in French, due to the school being in France.
Bonjour.
I looked over at her banner, where she was drawing the school crest. Wow.
That drawing is really good!
As my eyepatch was itching slightly, I turned around to adjust it, before turning back to the girl.
Do you mind if I work next to you?
Not waiting for her to respond, I went back to my banner and inks, and brought it over closer to her, so we weren’t at opposite sides of the room, however, I made sure that I wasn’t so close that it would be creepy.
Focussing back on my banner, I picked up a quill dipped in black ink, and wrote:
Vas-y!
Then, just so people who didn’t speak French knew what was on my banner, I wrote:
Go for it!

The French? Ew. The cold? Double ew. But the cool thing about this trip was that it had sports! Rina had heard ice hockey and had decided to make it her objective to attend the trip – even if it meant cheering on those at Beauxbâtons. If she could figure something out, she'd love to compete, too.

So here she was, actually getting involved with school stuff. Disgusting. But the important thing was that there was food. After entering the room, Rina beelined for the snack bar, snatching up a baguette and promptly chomping on it with all the decorum of an elephant in ballet slippers. Her brown eyes widened upon seeing markers and glitter on the table. She hadn't realised magic people actually knew what those were! This was actually pretty neat!

At first, she didn't say anything to the students who were already present. After all, she wanted to make her own very unique design, and she couldn't have them getting in her way! However, she couldn't resist a little peek at one girl's drawing. It was the school crest, but seeing it on poster board instead of up high made it look nicer. Rina smiled. Because the artistic talent had garnered her favour, she would even greet the girl in very poor, Spanish-accented French. – Bonjour ! J'aime tu... tu poster. Hi! I like you poster!

She would crunch on her baguette some more as she picked up a bright, neon pink paint marker. Oh, yeah, this was it! It didn't take long for her enthusiasm to fade, though, as she realised she had no idea how to say 'Go!' in French. Well, there was that song, La Copa de la Vida, and she was sure it said it, but she couldn't spell it for the life of her. She gripped the marker tightly and decided she would do her best.

Alé ! A butchering of Allez, meaning 'go'.

She looked at the girls near her once again. It was times like this that she wished she spoke French – or, even better, that everyone else didn't. Seriously, why didn't they have a magic school in Spain? What was up with that? Rina huffed and drew a smiley face above her writing. She smiled back at her drawing. – Piensez que aller a avoir il football ? Butchering the French for 'do you think they'll have football?' Clearly, Rina could not – or did not care to – read. But seriously, if they were going to have ice hockey, they might as well have football! They were like, pretty much the same thing, just hockey was on ice and with a stick. And more punching people, which was fun.

She was doing the best she could—which was not particularly good—as the hall started to fill. A girl with bright ginger hair appeared beside her. "Bonjour," she returned her greeting with a quiet nod before going back to scribbling. But it was the girl's next comment that was deeply unsettling. The tops of a handful of florets were not 'really good.' You had to squint to make out a real recognizable shape. She was still processing this comment when the girl asked to be seated alongside her. "Eh—" but a response didn't even make it out of her mouth as the girl brought all her things over. "Eh, bien," she acquiesced.

Akerrah tried to move back to focusing on whatever this drawing was. She enjoyed quiet for working, especially when she didn't know what she was doing. Plus another person nearby would maybe convince her to not give up. But it was just then, another person approached them and complimented one of the posters. Not thinking it could be hers, she looked across at the ginger girl's. Hers had a Fleur-de-Lis that was wonderfully recognizable. "C'est joli," she agreed, complimenting the ginger girl with a nod, "Vous dessinez bien."

As the second girl came to sit with them, Akerrah again tried to focus on quietly making something decent. But this second girl seemed interested in small talk. It was not annoying or anything, but just kind of unexpected—and it wasn't the accent. All the time she'd been here hardly anyone had spoken to her. Her best friends were the Abraxans in the stables. Speaking of which, she recalled that conversation with Madame about, among other things, making friends. Perhaps she should try. "Peut être," she said, "Je ne sais pas ce que font les sorciers aux Jeux olympiques." On the other hand, perhaps that had been stupid to say for it gave her status as a muggleborn.

But then, there was nothing to give away because she'd never been accepted.

Wow, Rina felt like the only extrovert in the room! Maybe that was indeed the case. The entire room just felt quiet, like when you're watching a movie and the speakers break and you just have to sit there and watch people do things with no sound. So... not really a vibe Rina was into. She couldn't not fidget as she tried her hardest to brainstorm another way to make her poster actually decent. « Alé » just was not cutting it.

But when one of the other girls did talk, Rina nearly short-circuited. She strained her ears to listen and pick apart the foreign words, but despite her best efforts, she hadn't managed to uncover enough to make sense. Something something, I don't know, something something, wizards, something something, Olympic games. — ...Oui. Pues... ah, je ne sais pas, ce n'est pas les jeux de été. Je suppose que il football non existe pas en hivierno. a butchering of ...Yes. Well, I don't know, it's not the summer games. I guess football isn't a thing in winter. — Rina said, the words jumbling together. Although she didn't really care if her words were perfect (they wouldn't be), she still hoped she was somewhat intelligible.

Oh, oh, oh ! Ah. — Rina had to pause because she could not recall the word for 'maybe'. —Si ont il hockey, c'est similaire al football. J'espère que ont il hockey... butchering of If they have hockey, it is similar to football. I hope they have hockey. — She sighed dreamily at the idea. Wasn't hockey just football, on ice, with more aggression? And, well, a smaller ball thing.

Êtes impatientes de aller a les jeux ? butchering of — Are you excited to go to the games? she asked, unable to stay quiet as she began to draw polka dots on her poster.

I was quite shocked when someone new arrived, and I was even more shocked when I heard her speak. At first, I thought she was saying "I like you" to the girl I was next to, which would be a bit awkward. But then, I realised that I should be more understanding - the likelyhood was that French wasn't her first language, which I could sympathise with. But, I couldn't work out what language was her main one, so I decided speaking French would be the safest option.
"Bonjour. Ca va?" Hello. How are you.
Then, I heard the original girl speaking, and I looked up to see her complementing my poster.
"Merci. Mais, Je pense qu'elle te parlait." Thank you. But, I think she was speaking to you.
I didn't want that girl's artistic talents to go underestimated, as the drawing was extremely good, for something so ambitious.
I looked at the new arrival's poster, and felt quite sorry for her - she had definitely not learnt French, as her poster words were spelt wrong. However, I thought it would probably be better to just not mention it.
I turned back to my poster, and drew some more shapes on it. Then, I realised that I had been zoning out, as the other two were partway through a conversation, which I eventually realised was about what sports they would have at the olympics. The next words I heard were the younger girl asking whether we were excited to go to the event, so I nodded, and said,
"Oui. J'ai hâte! Mais, il fera froid." Yes. I can't wait! But, it'll be cold.
Then, I realised that I didn't know their names, so I said,
"Je m'appelle Cinder. Et toi? Je suis 13." I am called Cinder. What about you? I am 13.
I looked around the room - it was completely empty except for us three, making me feel quite self-conscious, but there was no better way to get over that then by talking. Actually, there were probably loads of better ways, but I couldn't be bothered to work out any other ways.
"Tu aime le Quidditch? Je suis un Chaser." Do you like Quidditch? I am a Chaser.
