Sprawling across the great mountains that towered over Tenūsa lay the most magical structures the isle had to offer. They were not just mere feats against gravity and physics but symbolic of the ever growing understanding of the island folk. They knew that tradition was important, and they would never forget, but acknowledging and respecting the past does not require binding yourself to it. No the Isle and its inhabitants were always looking to grow, to thrive. So while many of the older structures still sprawled across the jungle floor, these marvels carved into rock and crossed the expanses of the sky while never taking away from the natural beauty of the place.

One would think up so high that roots could not reach, that the rot that was beginning to engulf the jungle floor would be a distant problem. Such beliefs would be quickly realised as foolish. Everything in this island was connected. Being made out of magic itself many believed the island to be alive in a sense, and as such each and every part of it was one and the same. Much like a body, the infection could spread no matter the initial cut. This disease that was claiming the ancient haven seemed to be intelligent enough to use that magic, to guide it to where it wished to be. To guide it to the creatures it wished to take, and as such from the draping vines and tunnelled pockets their inky ichor appeared ready to strike.

Having almost completed their respective trainings at their respective schools one might think that there was nothing this pair had not seen. After all, having attended enough "trips" to Hogwarts would scar any student for a lifetime. Yet assumptions were never wise. Roll: 4 After all assumption had a tendency to make you let your guard down, a fools mistake. This particular strain of the plant entity was not a fan of simple tricks to smother in their sleep. It seemed to err on the side of aggressive and thus as Tone rested peacefully under the somewhat familiar climate, he would quite suddenly and frantically awake as he was dragged by the neck upwards from his sleep. Flinging him to the side he would crash violently against the stone wall letting out a cry of pain that would rise Ye-Jun with worry. With his ribs injured running did not seem wise, so the only way out was through, but was that the fool's errand or the saviours?
Moderation Note: Tone has been thrown against the stone walls of the internal cliff section and is injured and on the ground. They may use their action to get up despite the pain but they will require healing.

Ye-jun was a light sleeper. The tiniest sound usually rouse him from his sleep due to frequent nightmares. For all his personal growth and confidence, his memories still occasionally came to haunt him during his most unguarded moments. Today however, his rest seemed to be blissfully dreamless. Perhaps it was due to the knowledge that it was just him and Tone sharing the unfamiliar space that allowed him to relax. Apparently, it was easier to sleep around someone you trusted fully. Who knew?

That being said, no matter how well the Beauxbatons student slept, there was no way he would miss the harsh thud and the cry of pain that followed after. He jerked upright with a gasp, breath catching and eyes growing wide as he zeroed on Tone crumpled near the stone wall, clutching at his side. “Tone!” Ye-jun called out to him in horror. He wasn't oblivious to the ominous vines that were no doubt responsible for his friend’s injury but he couldn’t be bothered to deal with them right then. His instinct to help the other boy outweighed any other thought he might have had at that moment.

Acting quickly, Ye-jun grabbed their wands *OOC it was agreed that Ye-jun knew where Tone's wand is and it was easily accessible and immediately rushed to his roommate’s side. “Oh God, are you…” Stupid question. Of course he was not okay! “Fuck,” the curse tore out of him without care. “Why is there never peace on these trips?! I knew something would go to hell and I still let my guard down.” He groaned angrily, guilt already seeping deep into his bones. He had failed his friend; he should have protected him better.

“Here, let me see. We won’t get anywhere if we don’t help you first.” Usually, Ye-jun would wait for permission but now was no time for such consideration. Besides, his judgement was very much clouded with worry. Rolling up Tone’s shirt hastily he raised his wand and tapped it at the boy’s ribs, praying he wouldn’t mess this one up at least. “Ferula!” He enunciated the incantation clearly. Surprisingly clearly, considering the rage that shimmered under his skin. He had used the spell before and it always worked but Ye-jun was not cocky enough to believe he couldn’t ever fail. Magic was a fickle thing after all. “How are you doing with light and fire spells? I have a feeling we might need them if we want to get out of here.”

Tone had believed choosing a High House would have been a marvelous experience. One they couldn't get anywhere else. He'd never been afraid of heights, so it wasn't that bad for him. Far from it, Tone thought the view was priceless. It had taken him awhile to fall asleep because he'd been too excited to check out everything Tenusa had to offer its inhabitants. But eventually he was able to get a few winks of sleep, before everything started to unravel, targeting him. He gasped as vines curled around his neck and dragged him upward before the wizard could grab his wand by his side. As the vine violently threw him against the stone wall, Tone cried out. But the beater had a high tolerance for pain, considering his position in quidditch. Even though it hurt, he wouldn't scream as most would have. But it still hurt him.

Just because Tone didn't scream, didn't mean he hadn't gotten hurt... At least the vine had released him at that point and Tone crashed onto the ground rather hard, jarring his ribs again... "Jun." Tone groaned, unconsciously using a nickname for his friend and shook his head a little bit. "Don't freak out too much. I'm still alive." He reassured Ye-jun, not wanting him to lose his head about this now. "It's not your fault, the vines are at fault! You're not a vine, are you?" Tone tried to joke a little. He nodded as Ye-jun said they needed to heal him. Ye-jun went about drawing Tone's shirt up a little and tapped it against his ribs, eliciting a little wince. But he didn't make a sound. Tone struggled to get up a little to give Ye-jun a better chance at aiming the spell. He reached up to grasp Ye-jun's free hand.

"I'm pretty good at them. I once used it to make my way through a maze at one of Hogwarts's balls." Tone told him with a smile. "You?" He asked.

MODERATION
Thanks to the quick instincts of Jun, Tone managed to stand, his bruised appendages bandaged masterfully by the graceful magic of the Beauxbatons boy. Students from the French school were known for their poise and delicate spellwork and it was on full display as tight knitted sutures held the damage in place. Still, both boys knew that this battle was not over by a long shot. Whatever this plant was, it had proven itself to be violent and despite their skill and age they would not find it an easy fight.

As capable as they were the pair also became increasingly aware of a much more dangerous thought. For screams began to echo through the mountains around them like a wind tunnel crying out to the sky. They were older students who knew how to fend for themselves, who had battled at so many balls and events that it had become almost second nature, but not all who travelled to the Isle had such a vast experience. Not all knew to expect danger around every corner.

These boys may be able to handle the harsh difficulties of aggressive magic, but those younger than them would not be so lucky. Even still, to help those in need, they would first have to help themselves and turning towards the balcony where the screams echoed loudest they saw their path blocked by a rather sinister pair of vines who did not wish to give them passage. Readying their wands with fire and light in their minds they would have to decide what best to do, for their were more lives than their own at risk this day.

Bandaged and in fairly decent shape thanks to Ye-jun's spell, Tone smiled at him. He didn't want him to worry too much about him. But even though the vine had released him right now, it still hadn't been taken care of and could return with a vengeance. However, for now, they seemed to be able to take a breather. Tone gripped Ye-jun's hand, not wanting to let him go. Not unless they needed to avoid another set of vines coming at them. It might be better to deal with the vines separately in case history repeated itself... and they tried to ensnare them again. At least separate, it made it harder for the vines to grab both of them.

Screams began to echo in the distance from other students caught up with the vines.

But there wasn't much they could do from here and they still needed to get out of the place themselves. Tone glanced around as he looked over at the balcony, the only avenue of escape at the moment. Some sinister looking vines blocked their way and the beater narrowed his eyes at them. As much as he liked plantlife, these were preventing them from escaping the area. They needed to be taken care of. He didn't want to set the vines ablaze because that would hurt them and also might set the High House on fire too which would be bad. Tone was debating between using one of two spells, the Severing Charm and the Freezing Spell.

The former would hurt the vines but wouldn't damage the High House while the latter might not have any serious side effects for the vines or the High House. Despite the fact that the vine had been responsible for hurting him, Tone didn't hold it against them. Who knew why they were attacking the students? Maybe it wasn't their fault and someone was controlling them. Deciding on the Freezing Spell, Tone glanced over at Ye-jun. "I'll cast the Freezing Spell on the vines and see if I can freeze them in place. If it's successful we can just carefully step over or around them. It won't damage them but will make it so they can't hurt us when we escape." He told him. Tone didn't know what Ye-jun would try but he was free to do whatever he wanted to. Or let Tone take care of it for them.

"Glacius!" He incanted and pointed his wand at the sinister vines blocking their way.

FINAL MODERATION OF PART ONE
Standing in for Lawrence in this moderation round to end part 1 of the event!
After @Ye-jun Lee masterfully healed @Tone Bakugo with a spell, it seemed that both boys didn't know quite what to do next. They stood, frozen, mayhap concerned that any movement might spark the vines to grab them again... and luckily, that seemed to be the right move. By the time Tone meant to cast Glacius, it was already too late. Did mod rolls before your post, sorry.

Suddenly, the two were free to leave as they wished, because as if their interest had been piqued elsewhere, the vines shrunk back into nothingness and vanished seemingly into thin air. Perhaps the pair could proceed to part two and meet up with the other residents of the High Houses...

Tone wasn’t exactly wrong. Ye-jun didn't cause this and he sure as hell wasn’t a vine but that didn’t mean he didn’t fail. “Just because I’m not a vine doesn’t mean I’m blameless. I could have been more cautious. I told myself I would be.” The Korean boy refused the kindness given to him so readily. Didn’t know how to accept it. He was always far more familiar with critique than reassurances. Still, it would have been a lie to say he didn’t feel relieved to hear those words. Even if he didn’t fully believe them.

“Ferula.” The spell rolled off his tongue soon after, producing a set of magical bandages precisely where they were needed. Good, at least he didn’t fuck this one up. Now however, came the harder part, which was getting out of the hut before another attack came for them. Ye-jun didn’t let go of Tone’s hand as he helped him stand up and the other boy didn’t seem to intend doing so either. It helped to soothe some of the anxiety that settled in his stomach. At least if one of those roots attempted to drag his roommate again, he’d be right there with him. What were they anyway? Ye-jun’t working theory was a devil snare, though he wasn’t entirely sure. Didn’t the devil snare usually coil around their victims and squeeze rather than fling them across the room like some helpless ragdoll? Especially in their sleep when they weren’t moving.

“I’m decent at them. I was never natural at any type of magic but I studied hard.” An honest answer. The Beauxbatons wizard only had two other relatives capable of magic in his family. His cousin and his aunt. Both of them were hard workers as well, but he always felt magic came to them more instinctively than it ever did to him. The same way he seemed to take to almost any sport like he was built for it. Still, he tried his best to make his family proud, especially when it came to his studies. His spells were not effortless or impressive but his magic was steady. He couldn’t even remember the last time he failed to cast one. Although he still always seemed to expect it. That part never really changed.

Ye-jun was about to suggest incendio to see if his theory held water, only to have Tone beat him to it and suggest the exact opposite. “Alright, that might work.” He nodded. Right, I shouldn’t go for fire then. He thought to himself, trying to come up with the best possible help to compliment his friend’s planned spellwork. But then he heard the screams coming from outside. Multiple of them. Too many. It was enough that Ye-jun couldn’t help getting distracted. Or perhaps they both did because there was a brief moment of hesitation when neither of them moved. It was as if someone hit a momentary pause switch. Usually, hesitation in a fight would be a bad news but not this time. This time, it didn’t seem to matter because the plant suddenly lost interest in them. A pretty lucky outcome. Suspiciously lucky outcome actually. Alas, Ye-jun didn’t get to ponder about that as another set of screams echoed through the jungle.

“What do you wanna do? Go check it out? Find safety?” He asked, tugging at the white-haired boy’s hand. “I’m not exactly eager to search for danger, especially when you are already hurt, but it might be a good idea to see if anyone figured out what’s going on. It’s hard to fight when you don’t know what you are fighting…” A pause. “Might be able to help some of the younger students along the way.” He suggested cautiously, knowing Tone already carried plenty guilt due to the incident at Hogsmeade even though it was in no way his fault that he wasn’t able to help more. He was younger then and badly hurt. But Ye-jun knew logic was not always going to win, when it came to things like this. He was no different in that regard so if his friend wanted to go help others now, he wouldn’t dissuade him. He’d just make sure to have his back while he did so. He'd break his own hands if the wonderboy got hurt on his watch again.
