Devil's Whisper
"Avis!" Avis practically melted. From her stance back and to the side, she caught a glimpse of her friend out of the corner of her eye. Her friend, who when trapped by vines had the first though of Avis and her well being, meanwhile Avis' first thought had been... not that. She couldn't remember exactly. She was still barely awake. Nevertheless, all accounts seemed to point toward Avis being completely undeserving of a friend like Sabrina. But that was a thought for another day, when she was safe in her own dorm room.
As the light flared, Avis squinted into the brightness and attempted to bring her hand up to shield her eyes, only to realize she could not move her arms. The vines were no looser. The older students advice had been absolutely worthless, and the one girl who hadn't listened to him (really, did she ever listen?), seemed to have gotten out just fine. Whether it was the struggling or the cursing or just her sheer hostility, the plant found her unsuitable.
Was she moving?
WAS SHE MOVING????
Avis craned her neck around at an angle that would have been painful if she hadn't been so adrenaline chocked to see where she was being dragged. The balcony, obviously. Why kidnap someone out the front door when you could drop them off a cliff?
" IGNORE US EARLIER, START DANCING BEFORE I THINK ABOUT MAKING YOU! TARANTALLEGRA IS A LOOOOTT MORE EASIER THAN PETRIFICUS!" Emotions swirled around Avis mind to a point where she couldn't comprehend one from another. Terrified. Freaked out. Stressed. And the slightest bit of irritation toward the older student who thought he could boss her around that Avis latched on to. It was the simplest, easiest to sort out. "Really? You sure you can manage to not bungle up that one too?" Her voice cracked and her attention flicked to the main problem - vines.
In some various self-defense class she had taken as a child, they had learned how to escape a choke hold, and this felt like it was close enough. It had felt dumb a the time, slamming her back to the ground, but it was beginning to feel much more useful. Avis attempted to slid down the vines like a children's toy tunnels, working her arms under the vines.

Devil's Whisper
The Welsh teen didn't get it. Why hadn't the spell worked as well as it had been supposed to? The plant was still taking the younger students.
He was still trying to think when he felt a harsh tap on his shoulder and turned to notice his dormmate trying to get his attention. His eyes widened as he realized what plant Hanako had been attempting to recall. He snapped his fingers in understanding. "You think it's a Venomous Tentacula?"
If that was the case, then it made sense to use the severing charm as the other seventh year duelist had suggested. "Alright then; I'l try. I'm still working on my spell spread, though," he admitted a bit nervously, hoping he could manage to pull off rescuing the pair of targets Hanako had given him.
Before he attempted to perform the spell he'd been suggested, Jack reached over to grab his Bluebottle broom to keep in his free hand just in case they ended up needing to head outside. His broom wasn't very fast, but it was better than touching the ground if the plants were so dangerous there and it could also carry a better number of people more than the average broom. He hoped no one would end up at risk of falling over any cliffs, but one never knew.
Concentrating on the severing charm's wand movements and the pronunciation of the incantation, the redhead aimed his wand at the vines closest to him. "Diffindo!"

Devil's Whisper
As Oonagh struggled free of the plants that had been trying to carry and drag her along by her limbs, she felt quite self-satisfied and smug about her successful escape. "Well Ah am glad Ah didna listen tae a word ye said-" she muttered stubbornly, as she watched the other girls suffer for not fighting back against these vines.
She shielded her eyes from the bright light the other had summoned in the room. It felt akin to sitting in straight up darkness and accidentally turning on the flashlight while carrying it the wrong way around, causing it to directly shine into your eyes. Just that this light actually made the whole room feel like you were staring straight into the sun. The Scot grimaced as she held her hand across her forehead and delivered a prompt kick to the retreating vines, as she fully stepped out of the wrangling mess of botany.
As the two boys began taking out their sticks again, Oonagh promptly shook her head, knowing that their previous attempts had brought no favourable results and made her way toward one of the girls and began pulling at the vines that were keeping her trapped, to aid her in the escape attempt. "It would help tae escape, when ye start tae struggle, instead of laying aboot like aen dead fish at the market-" she instructed in a half shout, as her hands wrapped around the vines as she began to just *pull*.

Devil's Whisper
Sabrina could see the flash of light even through her eyelids, her world burning red for just a moment before falling back into darkness. Filled to a brim with anticipation she held her breath for a second, then two. If she and the older studenst were correct, the combination of their limp bodies and the dramatic illumination of their accommodation would result in the predator recoiling, realasing it's prey. When the only thing released was her own groan, Sabrina concluded two things: first, you couldn't trust people just because they were older and in theory should know better, and second, despite her good grades she really needed to up her game in Herbology, since the grip the vines had on her not only remained, but tightened.
Gray eyes now open and back to searching the room, their owner fought to make sense of her racing thoughts. A good portion of them tried to gather and sort through all the information on vine-like-plants she possesed, attempting to recognize their tormentor, a few wondered what the plant's motive even was and how it found it's way into their rooms which should've been safe, but the majority dropped all logic and panicked because Avis wasn't responding.
"Avis, I swear on Merlin's sweaty balls if you got yourself killed by vines of all things-" her words were cut short by the shouted ones of their older schoolmate, demanding they do the exact opposite of what they've been told seconds ago. "Bloody hell - your aim is so bad you couldn't if you tried!" came her opinion on his making them dance threat, her frustration short-lived as she recognized her friend's voice among the chaos, "Avis! Thank Helena you're alive - try and stay that way until I get to you!"
And 'get somewhere' she would, the vines rolling her body off the bed seconds after she spoke. "Crap," she swore under her breath, attempting to stay relatively calm as her hands patted the space around her, grabbing at whatever layed around. The pillows, a book, the duvet or hopefully, her wand. Before she knew it, the Firebolt girl appeared by her side, fighting the vines like a tigrress and uttering a few sentances the raven couldn't quite catch.

FINAL MODERATION OF PART ONEOne of the most interesting groups to come out of the event, all six of the roommates here had something to say about being attacked by vines. @Hanako Tone and @Jack Burnett weren't about to let their young charges get taken by the darkness, and aided the three girls in trying to wriggle free by casting twin Diffindos, one of which was spell spread. @Oonagh Brown also took to hitting the vines that were holding one of her friends, landing a few nice punches.
Standing in for Lawrence in this moderation round to end part 1 of the event!
However, most of it would be in vain. @Avis Marlong managed to struggle out of the vines' grasp, but @Livia Machavariani was gone in an instant, pulled out into the darkness. Similarly, despite the punching and slicing of the vines grabbing onto her, there was something that just critically failed about @Sabrina Lyons' attempt to free herself. Her wand gone from her hand, this young Ravenclaw was also yanked into the wilderness, following her younger Slytherin roommate.
The four survivors - Avis, Oonagh, and the two boys - were suddenly free to leave as they wished, because as if satisfied with their kidnapped charges, the vines shrunk back into nothingness and vanished seemingly into thin air. Perhaps those left standing could proceed to part two and meet up with the other residents of the Traveller Wagons and the Rumah Adat...

Devil's Whisper
Sabrina felt the vines twist and turn around her when they found themselves under attack, sliced and punched by her loyal or at the least arrogantly heroic roommates. Panic evaporated with the knowledge of her friends survival, and body practically imobile, the raven let her new acquaintances fight her battles for her while she pondered the origins and motives of their opponent. Certainly a predator in its region, the plant was inteligent enough to slither it's way inside, presumably protected, cabins without alarming their occupants. And yet it wasn't here to kill them. Or at least not in the spot.
The girl wasn't given any more respite to think as the object of her inner monologue moved, yanking her out of the scottish girl's grasp and earning a surprised yelp from it's small captive. Hands back to a frantic search of the now moving floor below her, her mind rapid fired various questions. Where were the vines taking her? To its web? Nest? Lair? Good Rowena - why? What even was this thing? A plant acting like an animal. The curious raven within Sabrina craved for the knowledge, maybe even more than her release. What if she let herself be dragged? What if she actively sought out the answers? Was she curious enough to risk her survival?
... well.
For better or for worse, her attacker turned kidnapper didn't give her a chance to decide, it's body tightening around hers with a bruising force and dragging her down and out of the cabin in jerky motion. Finally, the beds of her fingertips brushed against a small wooden stick. Pencil, wand, whatever it was she fought to get a hold of it. If she could get just an inch closer, just a little bit closer - the vines obliged her wishes for movement, their next violent jerk sending her a few feet in the opposite to her desired direction. Before she got the chance to curse the irony of universe, the vines seemed to remember how to navigate the space, their slithering picking up on both smoothness and speed.
"Avis!" was the last yelp Sabrina managed before her body slid off the edge, falling, falling, falling.
