Sprawling across the great mountains that towered over Tenūsa lay the most magical structures the isle had to offer. They were not just mere feats against gravity and physics but symbolic of the ever growing understanding of the island folk. They knew that tradition was important, and they would never forget, but acknowledging and respecting the past does not require binding yourself to it. No the Isle and its inhabitants were always looking to grow, to thrive. So while many of the older structures still sprawled across the jungle floor, these marvels carved into rock and crossed the expanses of the sky while never taking away from the natural beauty of the place.

One would think up so high that roots could not reach, that the rot that was beginning to engulf the jungle floor would be a distant problem. Such beliefs would be quickly realised as foolish. Everything in this island was connected. Being made out of magic itself many believed the island to be alive in a sense, and as such each and every part of it was one and the same. Much like a body, the infection could spread no matter the initial cut. This disease that was claiming the ancient haven seemed to be intelligent enough to use that magic, to guide it to where it wished to be. To guide it to the creatures it wished to take, and as such from the draping vines and tunnelled pockets their inky ichor appeared ready to strike.

Valentin could hardly rest with Nikolai so close yet so far, which likely only infuriated the infatuated Sato and Colin had only just returned from the Isle following his transformation. Thus to say that the vibe of the homestead was peaceful would be to call a rabid dog friendly, in Colin's case more than anyone. So instead of restful serenity this house soaring into the sky was more a ball of stress ready to burst and explode in any direction. It was that thinking that perhaps determined the aggressive nature of the battle. Roll: 9 As the tendrils wormed their way into the high house the group went ice cold in worry that the hag slugs had returned with a stronger vengeance. What were these devil creatures that burst from the ground gnawing at the wood and consuming in their path with deadly strength. Wrapping its constricting bind around Colins foot who was too groggy to evade it threw him into Valentin knocking them both to the ground as another reached up to bind Kim managing to catch his casting hand. Yet perhaps some release from what was pent up would do the group good, or perhaps it would simply make things worse. Only time could tell.
Moderation Note: Valentin and Colin require an action to get up or need to be helped as they are prone on the ground. Kim's hand is restrained and requires a strength check to break free or to find another solution.

Kim was NOT in a good mood at the moment. He hadn't been looking forward to going to their homestead, mainly because it was one of the High Houses. Kim was deathly afraid of heights and tended to avoid them. But with a skilled and famous seeker on Durmstrang's quidditch team and someone who thrived on adrenaline rushes from above who was also a good friend of his, Kim knew they would most likely choose this type over any other choice.

The duelist didn't want to hold either of them back from this experience so he'd agreed to this type of housing with them. But that didn't make it any less scary to him. Kim took a deep breath and let it out slowly as Kibō slithered all around the place, checking out every single corner. He was the first to realize something dangerous was intruding on their habitat and let out a hiss of warning to the others. But it was too late as the infestation had begun....

One tendril wrapped around Colin's ankle and threw him into Valentin while another curled around Kim's wrist and pinned him up against the wooden wall of their homestead house. Kibō hissed at the tendrils snaking all over the place, striking out when any tried to entangle him. "Val! Colin! You two alright?" He exclaimed while trying to fight back against the tendril gripping his wrist and keeping him against the wall. At least no one was too hurt yet.

Val grabbed his wand and pointed it at the slug around Kim's wrist, casting the Full Body Bind Curse on the tendril, attempting to free Kim so he could cast a spell to help them out.

"UFFF!"

The heat. The stickiness. Kim's weird emotional state. Colin thought Kim always got along with Valentin --- he himself certain did when their paths crossed! --- the post transformation bleughs. And now, high up in the forest canopy, something was trying to kill them. Lovely. As the damp and cool root like thing wrapped itself around his bare ankle, Colin found himself sprawling into Val, sending them both down! Out of the corner of his eye, he could see something had gotten hold of Kim's arm! A cold sensation in the pit of his stomach sent his mind back to all the disasters that had befallen him and his friends over the years. From hag dolls to hag slugs, illegal potions and dubiously legal alcohol. Oh, and also practically being murdered in his sleep along with his old mate Lucian! Twas almost funny, really!

Colin found himself sprawled on the floor. As he began to hoist himself up, he turned towards Val. He gave the older lad a full fanged smile. "Fancy meeting you down here on the floor, Val!" What could have been a moment of terror quickly evolved into an adrenaline rush that Colin desperately needed here in this tropical place. "What say we hop up and fight back old chap, eh, what!?" Colin drawled in his best imitation English accent.

Kim clearly had the best view of anyone in the house, for he was still upright. Kibō was hissing like an angry cat cornered by a sappy crup. Kim called over to them to see if they were okay. "Right as rain Kimmo! This place is trying to kill us! It's just like home!"

"Petrificus totalus!" called Val from his position on the floor next to Colin. Good. Once Kim was free, he could help with Colin's sluggy little problem! He wondered if it were, in fact, some kind of tropical hag slug. Normally he wouldn't mind chowing down a hag slug. Apart from the cure, having hag slugs was mostly that dreamy state of wanting to kiss anyone warm that had lips! Colin grunted a chuckle. The thought of his Emmi being infected by hag slugs put paid to that idea. Welp! Nothing for it but to get back up and fight on!

FINAL MODERATION OF PART ONE
Standing in for Lawrence in this moderation round to end part 1 of the event!
These three boys were not to be messed with. Even from his position laying on the ground, @Valentin Azat Schnell's well-placed Full Body-Bind sure did paralyse the "body" of the vines covering the hand of @Kim Sato, allowing the fifth-year to pull himself free. @Colin McCoire, on the other hand, chose to scramble to his feet... for nothing.

All three boys found themselves able to leave if they wished, because as if their interest had been piqued elsewhere, the vines shrunk back into nothingness and vanished seemingly into thin air. Perhaps the group could proceed to part two and meet up with the other residents of the High Houses...
