It hadn't been long since Nova had gotten that letter from her younger brother, and it plagued her mind with every step she took towards the Small Hall. The cold breeze made her shiver, despite wearing two thick layers and staying inside of Hogwarts. In her bag sat her Pygmy Puff and her own equipment for the event she was headed to. Trixie seemed to have noticed the rather low mood of her owner, and was unusually cuddly lately, even getting Nova to laugh once or twice at her antics.

It surprised Nova how caring the ball of fur could be. Glancing down into her bag, Trixie was slowly drifting off into a nap, tiny eyes dropping down. The poster she had seen made the event feel like a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect. She could use a bit of a break. Nova wondered if she would see Avery, the Gryffindor she had crocheted with early on in the year. If she was there, maybe Nova could strike a conversation with her. Her eyes flickered towards the doors of the Small Hall, and she carefully pushed them open and slipped inside.

She took a slow, deliberate step inside, taking in the room. It was already filled with about ten people, voices mingling together. She could vaguely recognize the majority of them, specifically an older Hufflepuff by the name of Emily. She was sweet as sugar, and could usually be seen with an older Slytherin called Colin. She remembered him from a different event he had hosted, and that he had gotten caught by two prefects. Her eyes swept over the rest of the group, lingering at the door as it opened and Avery walked in. Nova brightened slightly, raising her hand in a wave. Avery smiled, waving back, before talking to someone she didn't recognize.

Looking back at Emily, Nova made up her mind and began to walk towards her. Passing by a few of the other tables, Nova adjusted her bag’s strap, brushing a thumb against the soft curve of Trixie’s fur as the Pygmy Puff stirred faintly, letting out a little squeak before settling again. Nova glanced down at her, amused, before carefully dropping onto a nearby beanbag. Not too far away, Emily sat with her own chosen assortment of materials. She took out her own items, careful not to disturb her pet. The yarn was a pale shade of gold this time, and she immediately set out to make a mini version of the sun. Looking up at the older Hufflepuff, she asked lightly, "What are you making?"

"Alright, here we go. I get the feeling I have been trying lots of new things recently."
Maddy nodded to herself, fixing her shirt and messing her hair up once more as she debated on whether to go inside or not.

"I mean what harm can a little knitting do?" You knw what, she will do this, only for the daredevil inside of her telling her she cant.

As soon as she stepped inside the comforting and warm atmosphere made her grin. She definitely made the right decision. This place was definitely better than cheering over her brother as he practiced Quidditch or having to face Benny's lecture on everything she does.

As she looked inside maybe hoping to find someone, she noticed the whole place. The dim lighting and the warm atmosphere inside the place. It was enough to lessen her already freezing fingers.

She hoped that maybe she had somebody to accompany her and she might have learned something. She was whatsoever a girl who ran away from these stuff. Nonetheless, she was here, staring at the people present and how focused and calm they looked working with their yarn.

She felt a little put out, maybe she should go and give a call to Ryder to join her. He would; as much as Maddy knew her cousin, be probably sulking and avoiding people altogether. Typical Ryder. He was the exact polar opposite of Maddy and her brothers. When one was to look at them, they can know they are related, but if you judge by behavior, you would have never guessed. Her brothers were energetic, social, loud and extroverted, just like her. But Ryder would rather go sit alone than talk to people. WHAT A BORE!

Maddy went over to seat on one of the beanbags near the fire, taking a ball of yarn with her. What was she going to make. Who is she kidding, she wont be able to make anything seeing as she doesnt even know the basic.

The fire really cools down her frozen hands. She looked to her side to find some stuffed animals. This will do, they are my cuddle buddies for now.

Snuggling the stuffed bear in her arms, Maddy turned towards the yarn ball in her hands. Alright lets try to do something. It will lead to something right?

Better something than nothing.....

Ophelia's only real exposure to yarn crafts was, well, her love of sewing. It was a hobby she'd picked up from her mother, who'd taken time when they were younger to sew her daughter cute accessories like hats and socks. The young Northwell had taken this a step further, though, learning how to make patterns and follow through on her designs until she created masterpieces. Unfortunately for her, she was both a perfectionist and an overachiever, which meant that she never had enough time to complete these long projects. Still, every now and then she would choose some outlandish idea from the steady stream of them that were in her head, sketch it out, and then begin the not so glamorous process of creating. Thank goodness she had a sewing machine at home. If she'd had to rely on her hand-stitching technique for ball gowns, she'd never finish a single layer!

But other than that, she'd never truly attempted crafts that required solely the use of yarn with no fabric. Yet still, this particular errand hosted by her fellow prefect Alyss intrigued her. She was still quite the creative connoisseur, and would enjoy coming up with patterns. Her immediate reaction upon entering the scene of the errand, located in the Small Hall, was that it was cozy. The perfect atmosphere for snuggling up on a wintry day. An area where craft makers and those who just enjoyed the company of those craft makers could convene.

Ophelia already had plenty of ideas floating in her mind for what she could attempt to make. She'd made peace with the fact that whatever it was that she ended up creating wouldn't be as perfect as she'd want it to be-- not when she'd never given anything in this field a try before-- but she was ambitious nonetheless. Possible colours and patterns for scarves and little crocheted animals floated around in her head, but she decided that she would glance at the pattern books as well in case they had something she hadn't thought of.

A quick glance around the room revealed that Ophelia knew a few of the attendees. She smiled at anyone that looked her way-- an instinct now. She went over to some of the tables, perusing the selections of patterns and ideas, trying to get a feel for what she wanted to make. Eventually, she decided to go with one of the ones in a book-- a simple crocheted bookmark in varying shades of blue. It was easier a pattern than she'd anticipated, but that would mean she would finish faster, and she could attempt to make it much better quality.

Grabbing some skeins of blue yarn, the book of patterns, and, of course, some crocheting supplies, Ophelia looked around for a spot. There weren't too many students there yet-- she hoped to leave before then, escape most of the crowd-- so there was plenty of space. Beanbags and chairs that were waiting to be filled.

Eventually, Ophelia decided to do the one thing she loathed-- approach someone new. A girl was in a beanbag looking restless, and the Ravenclaw approached her carefully. She dropped the things she'd collected onto a nearby beanbag before sitting down. She cleared her throat, an awkward gesture, and then began to speak.

"Hi! Have you crocheted before? Knitted?" She winced at how the words sounded so... enthusiastic. Not the vibe she was going for, but they were out there now.

A quiet hum escaped Kaitlyn’s lips as she skipped into the Small Hall. Her eyes grew wide, and she giggled at the sight of crochet, knitting, and weaving. While she had heard of this being the case through the social grapevine … not like she was actively searching for it, but as a prefect, she tried her best to be partially social. To be fair, she was still pretty shy, even with her added responsibilities. If she were to be honest, she didn’t know if she even wanted to change her shyness. It didn’t seem to matter to most people that she talked to, anyway.

Kaitlyn skipped over to a section of crochet tools and yarn. Her eyes drifted over them, practically sizing up the different options. Truthfully, there was no one-size-fits-all model, anyway. Mostly, she was trying to consider what to make. While she was naturally a creative person with her art, she didn’t have as much experience with crochet. Thankfully, she knew enough about the basics. Sadly, that didn’t immediately give her a good idea to practice with. For that matter, there was also the time commitment to consider. Sure, she could make something amazing, but it would also likely take her a while to make, too. As it was, she was often pretty slow when it came to crocheting.

It took her a few moments to consider before deciding to make a scarf. They were always appreciated in colder weather! Kaitlyn slowly went through the different colors, selecting a few to work with, along with the different tools for crocheting. Taking a quick glance around, her shyness enveloped her spirit for the time being, so she decided just to work alone for now and see where that took her. After all, she didn’t think there was ever an expiration for social interaction.

As Kaitlyn sat on the floor, she gently smoothed out her skirt and arranged the supplies in a neat and organized fashion. Having a cluttered workspace was by far her worst nightmare. There were a few times at St. Ann’s when her art space was messy, and she practically shut down during those times. Her awesome muggle friend group helped her get back on track then, but as she was at Hogwarts, that wouldn’t happen now. Now was not the time for depressive thoughts, however. This was now a time to be creative, and this young snake intended to do so!

As she began to craft her scarf, Kaitlyn hummed a quiet, catchy tune. Her delicate fingers danced around as her scarf slowly started to take shape with each movement of the needle and yarn. Her needle slowed, and sometimes stopped, as she went to change the colors of the yarn. Pink. Green. Turquoise. Gray. So many wonderful options and colors to help form the intricate pattern of a personalized scarf. Each movement was slow, as she wasn’t experienced with making something like this. But, she found the process very meditative, just like when she would sketch.

The Small Hall felt a little cozier than the rest of Hogwarts. Possibly because of all the candles, stuffed animals and the gentle encouragement that students weave, knit or crochet something for themselves today; something that will protect their skin from the cold that winter would soon bring.
To Anna, winter meant some things. She'd go home to see her parents, her brother would show her some music he began to enjoy hearing, she'd get to see the new plant her mother mentioned she was going to get... And that she'd have to choose some outfits she'd use. Like every person SHOULD know (at least to the vain little Blackberry), every season has a small change of style, and you should change up a feeew things in your main wardrobe which WAS different from your "side" clothes. But season dress codes aren't that rigid, and they're not more important than not repeating clothes, certainly not more important than "occasion", and definitely not more important than "how you want to be seen". Even so, fitting the season should also be a factor in the balance of the chosen outfit.
That's what Anna thought about for two hours before picking a brown coat dress and leaving. She loved dressing up, but she'd go insane trying to choose the perfect dress if she stayed there. Besides, that dress was cute, cozy and the brown color fitted autumn well.
She went downstairs with her beloved penguin plushie, Aoibheann, who'd accompany her as she arrived to the Small Hall and its event of crocheting. She believed herself to be short on scarves, so an event like this was perfectly timed for Anna. Although she'd hardly ever need to make clothes by herself, seen as she had others who could do it for her, she had been taught to crochet and weave somewhat, in case she was feeling too perfectionist to leave it to somebody else, or maybe if she just to craft something for fun, or to give it as a gift to someone or herself. Gifts, of course, are far more emotionally valuable when handmade.
She entered the hall with some confidence. Some other people were already doing their work... Some looked quite good already. The hufflepuff hoped hers would turn out pretty, too. She took some weaving equipment and sitted on a chair somewhat close to the beanbags, with Aoibheann on her lap. While she'd love to sit on the beanbags themselves, it was difficult to weave with your equipment not on a rigid surface like a table; maybe she could crochet something later if she had time, and then she'd seat on the cute beanbags with plushies.
For now, she began weaving her scarf. It hadn't been much time, when she happened to look to her side a little bit, to see a girl on one of those beanbags near the fire, holding a stuffed bear and a yarn ball. She... Did not look like she knew what she was doing. Was she even holding a needle? What in the world was she doing? Anna leaned towards her from the chair, still with her hand on her weaving work.
"What are you doing?", she asked somewhere between bluntly and gently curious, without greeting. Her big blue eyes looked intently to that girl.

Anna walked into the small hall. She'd heard there was some kind of fun activity to be held there, something to do with crocheting or knitting something for the winter months. It was certainly not a new thing for Anna to knit, she was really good at it, but it would certainly be a different experience doing it in front of many other people.
When she entered the Small hall, it was unrecognisable. There was dim lighting, but there were loads of candles. There were pattern books here and there and so many hooks, needles and colours and types of yarn! This was a knitting and crochet paradise for sure!
What should I make?, thought Anna. There were so many options. A keychain? Nah, that would be too small and she had too many of them anyway, and almost no one used locks and keys in the wizarding world. A blanket? Too long. Finally, after a couple minutes of contemplation, she decided to make a sweater, wouldn't take too long, and she could make a really nice pattern on it.
For the materials, she chose a nice thick blue yarn, and picked up a couple knitting needles and a pair of scissors and seated herself at a table which was currently empty. After a few stitches, she decided to leave the table and seat herself on one of the more comfortable bean bags next to the fire, where there were also quite a few stuffed animals to snuggle up with. Anna looked round the room. There were quite a few people there. Alyss, the slytherin prefect was there of course, walking around and offering advice, a Ravenclaw girl who looked like a seventh year and another second year she thought was called...Maisie? There were also her prefects Mylo and Ophelia, another slytherin girl prefect she knew was called Kaitlyn, and a few other Hufflepuffs, Slytherins and Gryffindors she didn't recognise.
Enough distractions. Anna bent her head back over her knitting and continued. She didn't want her sweater to be all blue, she wanted a pattern with white and the word 'Anna' on it. It was more of a complicated pattern, she had to admit, but she'd had enough practice at home, this was one of the things she liked to do to wind down at the end of the day. This activity was really fun! She simply had to thank Alyss later for organizing this.

Damien was excited to say the least when he heard their would be an activity that allowed students to crochet or knit anything their imagination could think of, Damien especially enjoyed this as to him it was just another form of art plus he could make gifts for a few of his friends for Christmas and give them out to them all. As he walked down into the small hall he looked around before finding an empty spot at a table with not too many people sitting at it. He looked around at the different material and utensils available to him before he grabbed the colors of wool he wanted to use before he started his knitting.

He started out with this gorgeous royal blue wool along with some dark blue and white wool as he started to make a few sets beanies and gloves along with a matching scarf for his friends in Ravenclaw. One was made for his bunk mate Mikey Forville as he made sure to add his initial’s into the beanie so that way he would know what scarf and gloves were his. The next set would belong to his friend Leo Noxley as being an fellow artist himself Damien wanted to incorporate something special into his set so he knitted him a little pouch to store all of his art supplies like paint brushes pencils stuff like that in it while also adding his initials onto the pouch with some beautiful red color wool.

The next set was for Lorenzo Vincenti, he valued Lorenzo as a great friend but he also wanted this one to be extra special as he didn’t plan to wait till Christmas to give his to Lorenzo, as he still owed Lorenzo a birthday present especially letting him do work on his birthday even though he was excited about the work Damien still felt like he owed it to him. He decided to make him something special, as he set the other wool down to the side of him he grabbed a mix of light and dark brown wool along with yellow wool before picking up the crochet utensils and started to slowly crochet a small eagle plushie that he would give Lorenzo along with his gloves, his beanie and his scarf as a birthday present that he hopped the younger Ravenclaw would enjoy.

Next up on his list of gifts was Camille De Varenne he honestly wasn’t sure if he consider the two of them friends but he still wanted to include them as he felt like it was the right thing to do. He tried to figure out what was something he could add along with the set of accessories he was already getting that would feel meaningful in a way, he suddenly remembered hearing from someone that Camille does Ballet which gave him the perfect accessory to knit, he started with this beautiful light blue wool before mixing it with this darker color wool to make leg warmers for Camille to use for whenever he’s at a dance rehearsal or something.

Then he had the final Ravenclaw boy he was knitting things for and that was Giovanni De’Luca, Damien liked to believe from their First meeting as well as the letters they shared during the summer camp that they were becoming good acquaintances maybe even friends he wasn’t actually quite sure what Giovanni thoughts were on him however he knew he has to think of something clever enough to add to the others gifts he was going to give him. Suddenly a brilliant idea struck him as he thought about making him a small little bag that Damien would put some sweets from his mothers sweet shop in but would also allow Giovanni to put whatever he wanted to in the bag after all the sweets were gone.

Before he finished the bag he added one finally touch with some golden wool Giovanni’s initials on the bag which was G.D.L. Once that was done he set them down onto the side before he started to prepare himself to make a few more things for his other friends in other houses.

The second Avery had seen that there was a mass yarn creation event coming up November 15th, she jumped at the chance. Avery had always loved crocheting with her grandmother as a little girl. Her friend, Nova, had actually been the one to rekindle that fire. The two girls had spent a couple hours together one day crocheting stars in an empty classroom. Avery had loved every minute of it and the two had each given each other the star they'd created. Avery still kept that star nearby. Just looking at it brought a smile to her face and reminded her of her friend.

As Avery approached the small hall, chaos had already unfolded. Laughter filled the air as people worked on different knitting projects. Some were crocheting like Avery was going to, and others? Well others were using yarn techniques Avery had never seen before. She wanted to ask, but then again, she respected their conversations with others and passed by.

Avery picked up a random red ball of yarn she had found on the table along with a decently sized hook that should work with the yarn, then she walked to a more secluded corner of the room to get to work. She didn't know exactly what she wanted to do yet, but she knew the idea would come to her soon enough.

Avery just let her fingers work from muscle memory. She closed her eyes only for a moment. Remembering what her grandmother had taught her and remembering the good times they used to have together. The laughter, the joy, the fun, and even the chaos. All of it filled her as she worked. She would never forget those times.

That's when she knew what she wanted to crochet. A bird. Dylan had shown her a picture of what was called a cardinal. A red bird he had found while on a nature walk in America. It was a beautiful bird with a red crest and bright feathers. A perfect match for the red yarn she had chosen. She wasn't the best at making amigurumi, but it was always worth a try!

The question was where was she to start? The body? The head? The wings? Avery didn't know, but she just went with the flow. Seeing where she ended up instead of making a specific plan. It was always more fun in the surprise and going with the flow.

Ally Craig had arrived to the Small Hall ready for a challenge she had heard about the sewing and crocheting Errand and she had seen the fliers all around the school so when the day had finally arrived Ally was ready to start the day with a fun filled challenge.

Ally had walked into the Small Hall and saw a girl who she has seen around school but wasn't sure how to approach her until today. Today Ally was on a mission make the perfect blanket for whenever the occasion will arise and she gets her first crush or love she will have a gift to give them that will always remind them of her. Ally knew a little bit about sewing and crocheting so when she saw the girl sitting there all by herself Ally took that as a chance to introduce herself saying in a shy and timid voice Hello there, My name is Ally Craig and I was just wondering if I could sit with you and work on this project together that is if you don't already have a partner. Ally knew she had rushed the words out of her mouth so fast that she just hoped the girl would be able to understand her.

Ally had an idea of what she wanted to stitch and that was a beautiful swan in a pond surrounded by a field of roses she just hoped that this girl would be up to challenge with her and of course Ally would also help the girl with whatever project she had in mind as well.
Ally just loved the idea of stitching, and this was going to be her time to shine. She had sat down to begin with her project she started with a little sketch of the field of roses and then she would go to the pond and finally she would end with the beautiful swan.

Ally started tracing the outline of the Rose field with the sparkliest pink thread she had found and then moved on to the pond with a sparkly blue that would resemble the water and then she also added in some round green circles that would resemble Lily Pads finally it was the swans turn and she really wanted it to be the main attraction so she turned to the girl for some help saying in her most friendliest voice and smile she could muster up and asked Uhm, Excuse me, but would you mind helping me with my Swan you see I really want my bird to be the main attraction and I really don't want one wing bigger than the other?

Avis was at a complete loss. She blanched slightly at the abundance of yarn, sewing supplies and knitting needles available for the public, eyeing it all with a dubious expression. Creativity was a very foreign term to her and she couldn't help but feel a bit overwhelmed with all the crafting going on in the Small Hall that day.

Luckily for her, she had her own personal craft genius by the name of Margaret E. Gemmell not mention her handy sidekick Mylo, who was creative in their own right. Avis was just there to tag along and perhaps snoop around the snack table if the opportunity arose. Alas, to her intense disappointment, there did not seem to be any free food in the area. The Ravenclaw frowned and followed Maisie and Mylo to an available corner, resigned to her fate.

Her best friend immediately got to work, providing a bit more light with a Lumos spell and unboxing her own personal store. Avis nodded dumbly at her color logic, not quite sure exactly how that would affect a scarf but agreeing nonetheless. It was best to just go along with whatever she said. Avis held a certain awe for her best friend when it came to her projects, of which she had several. All of them seemed to turn out perfectly. The last time Avis had tried to create something, she'd ended up with a needle in her thumb.

She slumped to a seat next to her friends, watching Maisie start back up on a project she'd already been working on in their dorm room and listening to Mylo's quiet questions. Avis perked up, finally alighting on an idea that might actually make herself useful.

"I'll hold the light for you, Maisie. If you want," she mentioned, offering up her own wand with a sheepish expression. Anything to get out of crafting, truly. It wasn't that she disliked it. It was more-so that she didn't exactly love doing things she knew she was terrible at. Avis liked to be good at things and unfortunately creativity had never been one of them. She much rather preferred showing off her athletic skills or her ability to beat someone at Wizard's Chess. Competitiveness was her cup of tea and knitting didn't exactly warrant a competitive atmosphere.

Holding up her wand, the Ravenclaw whispered a quick Lumos and held it awkwardly over Maisie's shawl-in-progress.

"What do you suppose I could actually make without messing it all up?" she asked suddenly, watching her friends quick fingers fly over the yarn with practiced precision.
