"I am that merry wanderer of the night"
Carnival Games
Lucille was ecstatic to try the carnival games. She couldn't wait to try her luck and, let's be honest, earn some tickets on the side. As she entered the ground, the sun relentlessly shining in her face, she took a second to take it all in. Shading her eyes with her hand, she peered out, trying to make out the games between the throngs of students scrambling around, eager for a turn.
As she observed, one game certainly announced its presence, with a student being thrown in the air. With a start, Lucille tried to see what had caused such a dramatic outcome, only to see a basilisk. Not a real one, of course.
The basilisk was situated in what seemed like a dungeon, and from the color and aesthetic of the booth, she guessed it represented Slytherin. Certainly not her house, but it intrigued her nonetheless. As she began walking closer, she was soon able to see that the booth was labelled "Bucking Basilisk."
Lucille quickened, almost running towards the booth, wanting to be next in line. She guessed it was similar to a mechanical bull, and, although she liked to think she was good at those, a skill picked up from her experience on horseback, it usually turned out to be an all or nothing situation, quite like most things Lucille was part of. She usually ended up either doing terribly or doing amazing, no in-between.
But, of course, she figured the basilisk might feel different to ride and thwart her expectations, not to mention the wizard version was probably more difficult than the Muggle ones, or so she assumed. Either way, Lucille wanted a chance, and she quickly stepped up to the booth to take it.

Speech -- Thoughts
The carnival games was reminiscent of a muggle arcade. It reminded Pam of that one playzone her father would often take her to, during those five-or so years they had lived in India. The way the Carnival Games had been organised gave her a sense of serious deja vu.
She wondered through the throngs of people, scanning the games which had been set up. Some of them rang familiar to certain muggle games, like Whack-a-gnome, Pam guessed would be what was called Whack-a-mole.
Quite honestly, she was super excited. For starters, it had been, like, forever since she'd played any of those games, and she couldn't wait to try her luck at them. Admittedly luck was, very rarely on her side. Well, that wasn't going to bother her today.
She walked down the path, simultaneously scanning for familiar faces as well as a game which might interest her enough. Sure enough, one such game showed up in front of her in due time, "Chalice Choice" written across the top. Well, now we know my first game. What's the muggle equivalent of that though—?
The game seemed like seemed like something that would need a mix of smarts and pure instinct. Admittedly, Pam's instincts served her 50-50; it wasn't too bad. In most cases, the problem was that she couldn't tell when to listen to her instincts and when not to.
We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
As the crowd moved on, Pam stepped up quickly until it was her turn.

@Siobhan McCartyCARNIVAL GAMES
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Brightly colored pennants fluttered from enchanted poles, swaying slightly in the warm August breeze as if they were cheering on the passing children and campers darting between booths.
Prat, with sun catching his posh navy blue edge of his jacket, moved through the crowd beside Siobhan with a steady and observant gaze as they passed by several booths with a modest scoop of gelato is one of his hands.
This what the part where he would declare he was above al this, fair and carnival gimmicks, but he was actually curious. Even if every muggle fair his uncle’s ever ranted about was supposedly a scam. His tongue flicked across the spoon again. "Are muggle fairs actually scams like my uncle says, where the games are rigged?" He asked her, the only muggle in immediate proximity.
He kept his pace unrushed, letting Siobhan match or stray however she pleased, offering the occasional commentary about the booths they passed. There was one with flower crowns, another throwing your professors into a water tank, and more still. A bit chaotic. A bit ridiculous. But the event in it's entirety wasn’t unpleasant at all.
His stride slowed down when they turned a corner and came upon a booth draped in crimson and gold. Immediately, his attention was fixed on the prominent anvil centered within. It was theatrical, gleaming, heavy-looking, and embedded deeply with a replica of a sword. Something this extra was right up Prat's alley.
The name of the game read: Godric’s Might.
Now that, at least, looked simple enough.
"Hm." Prat finished the last of his gelato and discarded the paper cup in a nearby bin before stepping forward. "That one," he nodded, "looks tolerable."
The line wasn’t long, and Prat joined the queue with an idle posture. His arms were crossed in front of his chest, hands tucked neatly into his wrists, while his gaze remained locked on the setup. It reminded him of old tales.
His grandfather would often mock them as "propaganda," but Prat did find their underlying patterns of symbolism and hope oddly sweet. The idea that a relic might only respond to the 'worthy' was quaint, but theatrically satisfying for the boy who was born as the center of attention in his family.
When he neared the front, he glanced once toward Sio, a touch of dry amusement in his voice. "Any chance you’re the secret grandchild of Gryffindor himself? I could step aside."
He didn’t wait for a reply before moving into place. The booth volunteer gestured him forward with a practiced flourish. Prat stepped toward the anvil, rolling his shoulders and letting his palms press together with a slow, deliberate rub. He approached the sword without hesitation, rather he was filled with excitement.
The setup was not only beautiful but intricate, all unnecessary flair, really, but it did give the illusion weight and added a sense of realism.
Prat wrapped both hands around the grip, fingers curling into the hand. He stood silently for a moment, grounding himself. A deep exhale passed his lips as he angled his weight evenly.
He pulled.

xo Bea knew that today would be fun. Her and Agata had decided to attend the carnival games in all their glory. The day was hot, sunny and the heat bore down on the both of them. Sweat gathered at the back of her neck where her short red curls sat. Wiping them, she looked around at the games area entrance. There were so many to choose from.
Grabbing Agata's hand, she dragged the other girl over towards one of the first that caught her attention, no matter if she wanted to go somewhere else or not. "Let's play this one. Look! It has water." Cheekily, she quickly slapped a hand in the water and splashed it towards the Peruvian girl. Giggling she turned towards the stall attendant, and announced that they would play. "The two of us will play." After receiving the instructions from the attendant, Bea sat down. On the bench in front of her sat a delicate pink paper scoop. She picked it up, examining it closely. It seemed kind of too delicate for this sort of thing. How on earth were they meant to scoop out a lot of fish? Internally, Bea rolled her eyes at herself. That was the whole point. Of course they weren't meant to. Otherwise it would be too easy.
Turning to Agata, she raised an eyebrow. "Loser has to go in the dunking booth." Bea wasn't competitive at all. No way. Raising her scoop, eyes locked on the water, she waited for the whistle. When it blew, her wrist darted the scoop into the cool liquid, her magic channelled down into the net.xo

xo Agata hadn't expected when she had met the small Scottish redhead, that she would be dragged around the fairgrounds like some limp doll. Granted, Agata held her ground most days, steering the exuberant other girl towards some activity that they would both like. Like now for instance. Agata knew Bea would want to do carnival games, and Agata nodded along. What was the point of a carnival if you didn't try at least some of the games, right?
Rolling her eyes at Bea's excitement, she found that she had landed herself in front of a fishing game. The stall itself was average. One that gimicked and magicked up to the max, with cool water and little fish bobbing in the water. She smirked. This should be easy. What she wasn't expecting though was Beatrice splashing her in the face. "Arghh!" Scrunching her eyes shut, she wiped the water off her face, annoyance scrunching her features. "Really, Bea?" Rolling her eyes, she sat down, inspecting the water. She listened as the attendant told them the instructions, and then to Bea's proposal. She laughed.. "You're so on Forsyth!" It would be good to see the other girl dunked for her cockiness. Picking up her paper net, she waited for the whistle and then cast it deep into the water, hoping to nab some fish.xo

Carnival Games
Evony did a slow spin as she looked around at the huge Stadium around her. She wasn’t a big Quidditch fan, but even she had to admit that this was pretty cool. Her shoes sunk into the soft grass as she approached the area crowded with various carnival games. She kept her arms tucked into her sides as she dodged people (and their food, drinks, and oversized prizes) walking in all directions, all the while trying to take in and comprehend all the games.
There was one game in particular that caught her eye: a large mechanism with moving ladders and a large red button at the top. She watched as a student misstepped and fell from one of the moving ladders, just as they were about to reach the button. She wasn’t sure why she wanted to try this game… She wasn’t really a fan of heights, and honestly, the line looked a bit long, but something about it made her smile. Yes, it was the Slytherin in her, beckoning her toward a challenge. She approached and leaned over the railing as she waited in line, excited to see more participants attempt the game.
The next two students seemed to be racing against some invisible clock - it wasn’t until after they finished that she overheard that they were attempting to race and beat each other’s time. Okay, Evony loved a challenge, but she wasn’t that competitive. No, she had every intention of playing this game SAFE. She watched the moving ladders and tried to discern if there was any kind of pattern. When it was finally her turn, she gripped the first ladder tightly and took each step carefully and slowly. It probably wasn’t super exciting to watch, but it certainly still felt like a thrill to Evony as she transferred ladders and slowly climbed her way closer and closer to the big red button.

Pam skipped along the path, wondering where she was now supposed to go. The first game worked out pretty well for her, and it was a whole lot of fun. She wanted to try out something different this time though.
She scanned the games available, making a mental list of the games which drew her attention, even if a little. It wasn't like she had forever to spend here, so she needed to be smart with the games she picked out.
With that in mind, she wandered until she came across a closed space, 'Snitch Snatch' written across it in bold letters. The name drew her attention immediately, since she had spent way too long eyeing the seeker position in Quidditch. Not to mention she was probably not very good at it. Maybe this would get her some practice? Seems unlikely though, she mused, reading the description of the game, Catching one snitch should be harder than catching five of them, right? Probably.
She shrugged, heading for it anyway. She had given the previous one her all, this one, she would be more careful. Well, it would be fun, right? She stepped through the crowd towards the booth, stopping in her tracks as she stepped on someone's foot, "Oh, I'm sorry! I hope you're not hurt!"

Stella stared at the 20 tickets in her hand. Drat! She had been too confident. Her only saving grace was her complete certainty that Pyce likely didn't get more (or at the very least, not many more) tickets than her. She would have loved to try her hand at the Troll Hammer again, but-
Lilah had a schedule. Stella needed to stick to it. This one loss couldn't get her down! Stella stuffed her meager amount of tickets into her pocket and started looking for the Discombobuladder, her second game of the day. The sooner she got this one done, the sooner she could regroup with Ren and Lily to get a quick bite to eat. Stella's stomach rumbled. Snacks sounded really good right about now.
Stella found the booth easy enough. She watched a few other kids play it before stepping up. She could not be overconfident. Pyce was the observant type. She could be too, when the situation called for it. So she observed. The ladder part would be easy enough. Stella had been climbing all matter of things since she could walk. It was the moving that was going to be the tricky part. Her balance was alright, but it was the needing to climb and balance at the same time that might throw her off her game.
She took a deep breath. She could not afford to lose another game. Stella stepped up to the booth. She could do this. (She better do this. If she lost a 2-on-3 with Pyce and Hecate, she'd never live it down.)
