The Campgrounds
Whether arriving by Floo, train, portkey or apparition, attendees gradually reached the grounds of the London Quidditch Stadium. All were directed towards the chow hall tent. From the exterior, it looked like a circus big top, though the interior resembled a blend between Hogwarts' Great Hall and a chaotic buffet. Organizers at the door passed out itinerary maps while kitchen staff heaped trays with food for the growing lines. Once diners settled into their seats and the clock ticked down to five, the event team assembled on stage. "Welcome, everyone...." A young man's amplified voice rippled over the gathering, quieting the crowd. "....to the Magic Without Borders celebratory summer camp." The Ravenclaw representative smiled and spoke with the precise, measured articulation of one raised to recite dry speeches. "Hogwarts was once again honored with this opportunity to host our international peers. In an effort to make the summer of '25 especially grand, our committee contacted several sponsors, who generously pledged their time, labor, or finances for a fair all schools could share in. We look forward to showing you what we have in store. Should you lose your ticket, need a new itinerary map, or have questions regarding amenities and activities, any member of our team would be happy to help you. My name is Pericles." Pear's drowsy eyes swiveled to the next organizer on stage, prompting introductions before the feast resumed and students raced to claim tents.

@Dealla Prince: "Hi everyone, I'm Dee! Welcome to our summer camp. If you haven't found a tent yet, please come talk to me! Otherwise, I hope you all enjoy what we have in store for you, and I'm excited to see the booths you're going to offer at our Arts & Booths Expo next week. Enjoy the food!"

@Evelynn Decipio: "Good afternoon and welcome. My name is Evelynn. As mentioned, there are many events and activities planned for your entertainment. I am particularly pleased to announce that P.E.G.A.S.U.S., the Preternatural Equestrian Games And Sports Uniformity Society for those unfamiliar with the name, has agreed to host one of their Regional Granian Derby Qualifiers here at the London Stadium next week. Rest assured, there are plenty of Prize Tickets for any brave enough to make a fashion statement with their most fantastical Derby hats. For those who would like to learn more about the Derby or any of the other activities, you will be able to find me by the Bulletin Board where I will be assisting camp attendees to Sign-Up for the various events and navigate their Itineraries."

@Damien Dragonclaw: “Hi I’m Damien and I’m so excited to see how much you all like the summer camp! And can’t wait to see y'all at the carnival games!”

@Phoenix Zhang: "Hey, I’m Phoenix. Welcome to summer camp. I hope the next few weeks will bring you something good—whether it’s a new friend, a quiet moment, or something unexpected that will stick with you. And when the Amortunnel opens soon, you should check it out. It’s... different. In a way that kind of stays with you. I'll be around so don't be afraid to stop and say hi."
(Not a moderated event. Students are welcome to mingle and react to the start of camp)

Amina jumped rather than ran into the big tent, beaming with delight. This whole summer event was exactly her vibe. It reminded her of the big funfairs her family had taken her to when she was younger. Bright colors, lights, booths and fun games - magical! Furthermore, just the smell of all the food gave her an anticipated sugar high. Looking around in awe, her cheeks were slightly reddened and her green eyes sparkled with excitement.
The Durmstrang girl had wasted no time to get to the chow hall event. Her family had sent her here via Floo a little bit earlier that day. After that, she only had taken some time to find out which was their tent for this camp and dumped her bag near the entrance without bothering to find a bed. She even still had a bit of soot on her cheekbone and her chin-long red-dyed hair was a bit dishevelled. But Amina didn’t care. There was enough time for all of that later!

Maybe those small imperfections added to her overall look, though. With her tight-fitting black jeans and the equally black, tight and short-cut tank top, which showed off her trained core and emphasised her shoulders, she already looked like she would fit in well in a Lara Croft movie.
Furthermore, her outfit put her new acquired heartbeat tattoo on display perfectly. She could almost feel the ink bracing her arm right under her shoulder. Speaking of heartbeat: Hers was fairly fast, as she pushed through the crowd that already had lined up for food. Quickly scanning the lines (unsuccessfully, though) for any of her Durmstrang team mates, she waved here and there, exchanging short words of greetings with people she had met in the past, but her mind and attention was somewhere else and she didn’t let anyone keep her.
She had waited months to finally see him again and was done doing that. Their reunion was overdue! Letters simply weren’t the same. Why did he have to go to Hogwarts anyway? They would be so much happier in Durmstrang, away from all of his girl drama. Although no one knew her thoughts, she snorted loudly at the thought of his ex-girlfriends. That was one of the many reasons one shouldn’t engage in a relationship, in her opinion. Not only did you have a clingy partner that wanted you to stop everything that is risky and fun, but after that, you had a spiteful ex or at least a tense and tricky situation with someone that was visiting the same school. No, thank you very much.

Regaining her focus after the short mental rant, Amina got up to her tiptoes, looking out for the familiar figure of Aaron. As soon as she saw him, he would receive a tackle hug al Amina. To make sure she had it with her, she fumbled for the parcel she had brought for him, which was safely stored in her right trouser pocket. A warm and soft smile spread over her face at the thought of seeing her best friend again. It was about time.

Aaron was having a lot of fun watching his little sister's eyes light up as they entered this year's summer camp. The organizers had managed to get an actual carnival, which was impressive in itself, but for children coming from the muggle world? Well, this carnival was on a completely different scale. And hearing her excitedly read through the different rides and activities on the itinerary was becoming a highlight of the day. The goodbye with their parents hadn't gone all that well, so it was good that Gemma wasn't letting that faze her. Or maybe camp was just a really good distraction from all that.

After the introductions from the camp organizers, Aaron helped his sister signup for a tent and locate where it was. He wasn't going to bother with finding his own tent yet - he would leave his luggage at her tent for now - because the feast was calling for him. Gemma said she was going to take some time to unpack and settle before joining him, so for now the siblings went their separate ways.

Aaron had a pep in his step as he rejoined the feasting area. Finally, food. The athlete in him was starving for some protein to fuel the flying he was sure to do within the next hour or two. Maybe he should've worn something looser than dark jeans to allow for more food, but it was too late for all that. There was really only one thing that could distract him from beelining to one of the food-stacked tables, and in that moment he spotted that one thing dressed in all black, making her red hair stand out.

"Amina-" he barely had time to call her name, because it seemed like she had seen him in the same moment and was suddenly running at him full speed. His eyes widened a bit, but he was smiling from ear-to-ear as he returned the absolute bear hug that she launched at him. "What kind of workouts is your Quidditch team putting you through? Your grip is insane," he joked, his own buffed arms on display thanks to the plain white T-shirt he was wearing. He lifted her off the ground briefly in a display of his own strength, squeezing her tightly, and only letting her feet touch the ground again after some pestering.

Grinning now with a boosted mood from reuniting with his best friend, Aaron took a good look at her. And of course the tattoo on her arm stood out. "Holy shit, when did that happen? Keeping secrets from me, Petrovic?" he said, half-joking as his dark eyes traced the line and heartbeat of the tattoo. "It looks wicked," he complimented, his eyes meeting hers with a smile as he awaited the inevitable explanation.
Aaron has a Calming Presence.
Your presence simply puts others at ease, if it is your carefree personality or the trust others have in you, the result is still the same. With you there, perhaps through your encouragement, your allies are able to better focus.
Aaron is a Lovely Creature.
You are so incredibly beautiful, it is hard to take ones eyes off of you.

The welcome feast. Avery couldn’t believe that she had made it this far. So much had happened over her summer causing many hurdles in her path to coming to summer camp. One of them bei her father. A well known auror in the ministry. He loved his daughter, but his last interaction with Avery left her even more confused. He had nearly done something he couldn’t take back. Ever. Something he had never done before. It had scared Avery and her father enough that neither of them had seen or spoken a word to each other since the incident.

The only reason she was there that night surrounded by people her age was because of her aunt. Her aunt had been more of a mother to Avery than her real mother ever had. Avery hadn’t even seen her mother in over a year. She had claimed she was “too busy with work” to wish her one and only daughter farewell on her birthday at the station.

The scent of delicious food snapped Avery out of her thoughts. It was then that she had realized all she’d had to eat that day was some toast for breakfast. And that was a while ago.

Before Avery went to eat, she walked over to a more secluded area so she could watch the event fold out. Even though her stomach grumbled in protest for not eating yet, she wanted to take note of everything and everyone. Maybe she would even find someone to hang out with at the feast. Only time and patient waiting would tell.

Dylan couldn’t believe that he was actually heading to the welcome feast. Normally, he liked to spend his time away from the hustle and bustle of welcoming events, but Avery had all but dragged him out of the tent just so he would come. He had laughed at the time in amusement, but now he was here and unsure of what to do.

He walked in to find a joyful crowd reuniting with each other after what was probably a long time apart. Dylan smiled at that. It really was nice to see old friends again after a long time of being apart. He knew that from experience.

Dylan knew Avery had already arrived. She had walked away from him once she had made sure he was coming.

He noticed her watching the crowd in a more secluded area. He walked over to her. Not having to say anything since they both knew what the other was thinking. What should we do first?

That was a perk of growing up so close to his cousin that was basically a sister to him. They both understood each other on a level that no one else could. It came in handy in situations like these where neither one of them wanted to speak words out loud.

Mikey had never seen that many tents all at once in his life.

Mikey was practically bouncing on his heels as he stepped towards the entrance of the chow hall tent, eyes wide and mouth slightly open. The sheer scale of it all made him feel like he’d accidentally walked into some wizarding version of a dream sequence. There was a sea of students from all the schools he'd ever known of (and a few he hadn't), he didn't know where to start. His backpack rode on one shoulder, a map bunched tightly in his hand and already somewhat creased with enthusiasm.

“This is wonderful," he said to himself, looking up at the magic roof of the chow hall tent. There was a soft thrum of magic in the air, something charged that made the hair on the back of his arm stand on end. He didn't know if it was the camp's magic itself, or if already he could catch the scent of roast vegetables, the buttered bread, and something which might have been cherry tart.

His belly growled loudly in protest. Loud enough for the boy beside him to shoot him a strange look. Mikey flashed them a grin and attempted to hurry down to the tables, with the intent of filling a plate or perhaps three. That's when he saw Avery. standing just off to the side of them, lingering on the fringe. She wasn't staring at anyone specifically, but whatever was going on made Mikey freeze in place. She looked. thoughtful. Perhaps even a little bit lost in thought.

He staggered. They hadn't spoken much earlier in the tent. And Mikey wasn’t sure where they stood in their friendship or whatever you would call their relationship. Mikey tightened the strap that dangled from his shoulder and took a step towards her with a big breath and then stopped again. He did not want to frighten her off. Maybe he could find something to eat first. Maybe she wanted to be left alone for a little bit. He lifted his hand in a half salute, half wave, unsure if she'd even noticed him at all. If she looked up, he'd wait. And if not… well, he could always try again after dessert.

Just before he turned to walk away, he noticed Dylan walking over to her. Maybe he could find them later and they could all hang out together. It was strange how when Mikey was alone, he had all these thoughts and ideas of the perfect thing to say to her and images of them laughing about the silliest things. Then when he was with her in person he would get all choked up and weird. He decided to head into the tent to grab some food and build up some courage. It was summer camp, and he should be focused on having a good time not stressing about… whatever.

”Aaron!” she whooped, throwing herself into his arms with full momentum. Pure excitement vibrated from every cell of her body as she wrapped her arms around him and gave him an overeager squeeze and kiss on the cheek if he allowed it. As he returned the embrace in kind and even lifted her up, she giggled joyfully and buried her face on his neck.
His familiar faint scent of soft leather and this special note that was very individual to everyone gave her the feeling of finally being in the right spot again. Man, she had missed this boy so much! ”The quidditch team is way behind my exercise plan!” she announced, her voice muffled at his shoulder and still accompanied by a giggle that made her vibrate on his chest. Being so close to him, she also detected a new scent on him that she didn’t notice before. Something citrusy and slightly smoky. She would have to inquire in a second.
When he placed her back down, she retreated on arm's length to beam up at him, her hands still on his shoulders. ”Also, I could ask the same thing.” She jokefully reached for his biceps and then playfully bapped him against his sixpack. ”Trying to impress a girl? Or is that for me? Also, are you wearing cologne? Going all out in your last summer camp, huh?” Her green eyes sparkled, as she teasingly winked at him and wiggled her eyebrows. He really was looking handsome.

But now, it was her time to show off. Grinning broadly, she followed his gaze to her new earned tattoo and proudly flexed the left arm. ”Cool, right? Getting a tattoo before our 17th birthday is kind of a family thing - No secret, but a surprise. It reminds me of my greatest love together with you, naturally - adrenaline!” Fumbling the present from her pocket, she reached out and simply put it in his hand. ”It’s kind of a reminder of our first bet. Also, I brought you something!”
If he unwrapped it, he would find a handmade bracelet in gold and black, displaying the same symbol between wings and with a small metal heart attached to the fabric.

Unable to contain the burst of energy and excitement that the reunion with Aaron released in her, Amina was bounding up and down on the balls of her feet. ”Oh my god, it’s so good to finally see you again! Tell me everything! How are you? What’s new? Also, didn’t your little sister also come this year? Where is she?” Rambling non stop, the words just came out of her mouth - unstoppable and chaotic. Just like herself. Overwhelmed by joy, she once more wrapped her arms around him and buried her face on the white shirt in his chest.

The crowd was picking up as people slowly made their way into the dining area where she could still smell delicious food and hear the joyful chatter and laughter. She was nearly ready to go in and eat, but unsure of what she would actually get first.

That’s when she saw Mikey. Her. . . well, she didn’t know what they were. Things had been awkward between them lately and she knew they were friends, but something was standing between them and she couldn’t quite put a finger on it. It was like their once easy and immediate friendship had evolved into something she had never experienced before. On her side of their ‘friendship’, anyway.

She watched as he waved in her direction. A smile that lit up a room on his face. She felt bad for not spending more time catching up with him in the tent. She had so much to tell him that she hadn’t been able to write down in their letters. She raised a hand and waved back. A bright smile lighting her face.

All she wanted was to spend the rest of the night with him. To finally catch up on everything that had happened over the summer and finally tell him what she had learned about her mother.

Her mother. The thought of the woman still made Avery’s walls rise. She still couldn’t believe that the woman was even her mother. The only thing they had in common was looks. Everything else was completely opposite. Especially as far as personality. Where Avery was friendly and willing to meet more people, her mother was secluded and didn’t like talking to people. She hadn’t used to always be that way, but ever since that day when Avery was eight, it was as if she had a new mother.

Avery eventually snapped out of her thoughts as she watched Mikey walk into the tent. Only hesitating for a moment as if he was undecided to leave without talking to her first.

“See you in a bit. I’m going to go and see if Mikey’s okay.” Avery whispered to Dylan who nodded in agreement.

Dylan had always been a big fan of Avery and Mikey together and had even said some very awkward things in front of both of them before. Avery had been lucky that Dylan was smart enough to say it in Welsh because she didn’t think she could even show herself in public anymore if everyone had understood what he had said.

Avery began walking to where she had seen Mikey go in. Hoping that she wouldn’t lose him in the crowd.

She was lucky. Avery had managed to find him right as he walked in. “Hey.” Avery said to him. Gauging whether or not he wanted to talk or even see her at the moment.

Stella had been to the London Quidditch Stadium more than a few times. Her mother was very invested in some of the teams. (Teams that Stella could never quite remember herself.) She knew it was big, she had seen the stands completely crowded. But what she hadn't seen before was so many people in the stadium. There was so much hustle and bustle and noise! Stella loved it!

She would have raced right into the massive tent, but alas, her sisters were taking their sweet time. Just chattering away like there wasn't a whole summer camp in front of them! Something about "London tours" and "waiting till summer's over." Boring talk. Stella would have gone off on her own, but she had promised basically everyone in her family that she would stick with people she was familiar with. At least she wouldn't have to share a tent with them. Or- she hoped she wouldn't. Stella had her fingers crossed that at least someone from her old neighborhood would be around.

Stella watched as more and more people entered the tent. Every group that entered made Stella equally more nervous and excited. It was the first time she had been back to the UK since the move. If her sisters would just hurry up already, she could at least get something to eat.

As if noticing Stella's growing distress, Ren ruffled her hair.

"Don't worry ya impatient imp. We'll be in there soon enough." Stella shot her sister an annoyed glare. "If ya want ta get a bite to eat and come back out, I wouldn't mind it. Just- Stay where I can see ya."

"You can't see me unless you're in the tent!" Stella threw her arms up in exasperation. "Why are we even still outside! You two can talk in the tent!" Ren only laughed. "That's it! In the tent we go." Stella walked behind Ren and pushed her towards the tent. There was the sound of an aborted laugh nearby, likely from Lilah.

Stella managed to push her uncooperative older sister into the crowd, where there wasn't any space to advance further. She couldn't exactly do anything about that, so she just shuffled along with the rest of the crowd. Lilah was somewhere behind them, a few people separating them.

Stella didn't say anything when Ren set a firm hand atop her head. She should have. She could have. But Stella didn't really mind Ren being subtly protective. It was nice. Not that she'd tell her.

First Year | Pre-Hogwarts Sorting

Majata glanced around the fairgrounds with wide, curious eyes, her steps slowing as the crowd thickened. Her parents had sent her off to camp by Floo, and she’d barely had time to drop her bag near the group tent before rushing toward the towering big top. The last thing she wanted was to be late.

At the entrance, she quietly accepted a stack of pamphlets and papers from the organizers, murmuring a soft “thank you” before slipping them into the cross-body bag slung across her chest. Her brown, purple, and blue curls bounced with each movement, strands slipping loose as she tried not to get in anyone’s way. She stepped aside quickly, out of the traffic of students and staff, and took her first real look at the chaos unfolding inside.

The interior of the tent was massive, loud, and full of life — laughter, voices, and the clatter of plates filled the air, mingling with the smells of warm food. The scent alone made her nervous stomach twist. She wasn’t sure she could manage more than a few bites; it was her first time being truly alone, away from her parents, Luna, and the quiet comfort of home.

Still, she reminded herself this camp was a chance — a way to meet new people, magical peers beyond the owl-written letters she exchanged with the few wizarding children who passed through her parents’ shop in Durham. Even so, the thought of diving into the crowd felt like trying to breathe underwater.

Careful not to draw attention, Majata slipped toward a quieter corner, where a few empty chairs sat near the edge of the tent. She settled into one, grateful for the semi-isolation, and reached into her bag for her well-worn sketchbook and a set of muggle drawing pencils.

Within moments, the noise of the hall faded into the background as she opened the sketchbook across her knees. Her fingers moved automatically, the chaos around her becoming lines and shading. Inspired by the carnival atmosphere, she began sketching tall tents, swirling lights, and exaggerated silhouettes. Her hair fell forward like a curtain, shielding her from the world, and she didn’t mind when her fingertips darkened with graphite. Normally she avoided smudging — oil from her skin could ruin the page — but space was tight and this was worth it. Drawing gave her focus. Gave her calm.

Let everyone else chatter and celebrate — for now, she had her pencils, her paper, and a quiet corner in the middle of magic.
