Amina looked at her gathered family and raised an eyebrow, trying to play cool while internally she was almost bursting with excitement. ”Did you really all needed to come?” All of her three brothers crossed their arms in front of their chests unisono and scoffed. It was almost like they were doing a play.
Amina’s eyes lingered on their features and she felt the tenderness creeping into her heart. Honestly, deep down, she highly appreciated them all being here. Miro and Georgi had come from the US and Nikolai also had cleared his schedule to be here with her. The young girl took the scene in - it was so rare that the Petrovics were gathered like that. It was special. And they were all here because of her. As they stood there shoulder to shoulder and the muscles on their arms stood out clearly, Amina realized once again how huge her brothers were. She herself wasn't that small either, but next to them she always felt like a dwarf.
”Don’t be too grateful. We are just here for the show!” Miro’s grin showed that there was more than a grain of truth in his words and his blue eyes sparkled with amusement.
”Yeah, we can’t miss the adulthood stamp and tease you for your choice.” Nikolai made sure to add quickly to his older brother and gave his little sister a meaningful wink. ”So what are you gonna get? The name of a boy?! You’re sweetheart? Be careful, that will be there forever and what if you break up...?” He probably looked the most like Amina with his dark blonde hair and his green eyes. Also, her facial expression normally was very similar to his mocking one at that very moment. But his comment was met with an indigenous frown. ”Pff. Please. They all knew she didn’t believe in love. Yet.
Georgi, the oldest one, just chuckled softly and ran one hair through his dark curls, creating an even bigger mess on his head. Then he nudged her on the shoulder and nodded into the shop.
At this very moment, her father came up to them. He had just parked the car and scrambled to put the key into his jeans pocket while walking. He clearly was not used to either driving nor the muggle clothing.
Completely ignoring the curious and teasing tension, he gave his daughter a broad smile. ”Ready, Pumpkin?”
With withheld relief, Amina rolled her eyes and then grinned. ”Ready to get away from this unqualified background commentary? Naturally!" She stuck her tongue out at her brothers and followed her dad into the tattoo studio.

While a lot of wizards got their first watch for their 17th birthday, the Petrovic family had a slightly different tradition that developed with Georgi’s 16th birthday, probably even before with her own father. Ioan had convinced his parents on his 17th birthday to approve of him getting a tattoo. A letter of agreement was required at that age to make that happen. He had been so in love with his school and the quidditch team and the thought of graduation made him want to keep a memory for his whole life of this time. So, he got a dragon tattoo. A dragon that curled around his upper left arm right under the shoulder muscle, like an arm bracelet.
The kids had seen this tattoo many times and he told them the story behind it - and so it happened that all of them wanted one as well. At first, the parents tried to talk them out of it, made them reflect what that meant and so on and so on. But all of the kids didn’t give in. They were sure, they wanted that, too.
So, rules were made: They would do it in the summer before they turned 17 (since they all would be in school during their birthdays) and they needed to do it the muggle way. Probably the parents hoped that the prospect of pain would make them rethink, but they all went through with it. To this day, they wore their tattoo on the left shoulder, full of pride and without regret. And so, it became a tradition.

Georgi had the chinese symbol for stubbornness, Miro also had a dragon and Nikolai
had a Phoenix. And today was her day. She was allowed to pick what she would wear as a symbol for the rest of her life.
Ioan turned to her as she arrived next to him at the counter. When he put a hand on his shoulder, hsi eyes were misty with proudness and sentimentality. ”Do you already know what you want?”
Aminas heart pounded, not with anxiety but with anticipation. Her cheeks were red and her pale green eyes full of determination. ”Yes, I know exactly what I want.”

A while later, she was leaving the saloon, her father by her side and a big fat smile on her face. Although her arm was very sore and she needed to be careful for the next few days, she couldn’t be happier. She would go to the Hogwarts summer camp with her new badge of honour. For her, it was a thin circle around her arm, a straight line just interrupted by a heartbeat.

It reminded her of a very important situation, a moment where she met her best friend and probably soulmate, @Aaron Jones. Over adrenaline, you just bond with the best people. She couldn’t wait to tell him about it.
