@Avery Gray @Ellie Randensmith @Eonaria KabukimonoKorinna whisked down the corridor and opened the door to the Rehearsal Room just a crack, making sure nobody was inside before tentatively stepping in. She blinked. The lights in the room were much too bright.. ugh.. who could concentrate on music while they were being blinded? It reminded her of those scary honor orchestra audition rooms with the.. oh /right/.
They strode to the center of the room and leaned against a music stand, slumping down to a sitting position, cross legged. Their heart brimming with excitement and anticipation, they pulled out a bit of parchment. The piece of parchment.
For a while now, they'd had an idea of starting an orchestra at hogwarts -- of course, while they had grown up watching orchestras and doing.. auditions, they'd never really played in one themselves. And sure, the second year ravenclaw was probably not qualified to do anything of the sort. But after awkwardly avoiding everyone their first year, they felt the need to bring people together.. it was for her, too.
Genuinely, they didn't expect student orchestra auditions to garner so much instrument - what the heck, interest! Wow, their thoughts were really jumbled today. But here they were.
They gently traced the curved letters on the piece of parchment and smiled faintly. The Obscuro Orchestra.
Korinna stood up gently and surveyed the room, pursing her lips and moving a few stands and chairs around to accommodate the needs of different musicians. After all, it was.. a low stress 'audition' -- strings would go first.. then winds.. brass.. percussion.. gosh, they didn't even remember any of the other sections, they were so confusing -- and then the singers, of course.
Auditions should not take that long, they didn't think they /wouldn't/ take anyone because they were mainly looking for.. interest. Of course, they had still asked for two scales and one solo piece or song just to decide on seating, so they hoped they had made a good point of that.. or else this would all be fruitless.
Satisfied with the setup, they hitched up their flowing purple skirt and stood absentmindedly on a makeshift podium of chairs, twirling their wand absentmindedly as they waited for the arrival of their fellow students.

The Obscuro Orchestra English - Japanese - Thoughts September 8, 2025 Rehearsal RoomXXXThe Obscuro Orchestra.
XXXIt sounded like a creepy underground orchestra that orchestrated— pun unintended— morally grey activist movements. In fact, it rather reminded her of the Phantom of the Opera from… well… The Phantom of the Opera. But no worries, it was just music. Regular, unhaunted music. Unless the ghosts decide to pop in. Eonaria was very familiar with music, and this was something she could handle. It was already her second year at Hogwarts, she couldn’t spend any time running in circles doubting herself. Whether the outcome was good or bad, at least she did something. Thus, she signed up.
XXXThat Monday, Eonaria headed up to the Rehearsal Room, as she did quite frequently last year. This could be the same as any other practice session, just with other people around. Eonaria was relieved that the thought didn’t quite scare her as much as it would have last year. After all, her fellow musicians were probably around the same age as her. There was no need to be afraid.
XXXEonaria pushed open the familiar heavy doors, greeted with rather blinding lights. It had been months since the last time she was in here… “Hello,” she greeted the Ravenclaw who was… er… standing on chairs. Eonaria was determined to face everything smoothly, head-on this year. She’d probably fail soon, but… eh. She vaguely remembered seeing this student around the halls and classrooms last year, but had never actually had a conversation. Be calm, stay calm.
XXXShe had already warmed up earlier that day, hiding in the bathroom to do so. Eonaria definitely wasn’t going to do it in the common room where her fellow Gryffindors would hear her, but there was an added bonus of anxiety in the lavatory, standing in one of the stalls awkwardly singing and desperately hoping no one would walk in on you.
XXXIt seemed that she was the first one here, so Eonaria, being a singer— the last section to audition— sat down on one of the chairs that had no music stand. She hadn’t brought her sheet music, as there was probably no accompanist and she had memorized most of her songs a long time ago. Now, to make a decision… what type of song should she sing? A tongue-twister, that thought is. Eonaria waited patiently for the other participants to arrive..・-: ✧☾♩♪♩♬ . 。・゜✭・.・✫゜・。. ♬♩♪♩☽✧ :-・.

Both things I know how to play and both I used in a audition too!OOC Notes: Eeeee
When Ellie saw the poster for the Hogwarts music club she was overjoyed, no, that was an understatement, she was ecstatic, she almost screamed, it had been awhile since she had felt this happy, this summer had been a lot. Ever since coming to Hogwarts last year, she had been looking for a place to play her instrument, and not by herself, with others.
That had been a week or so ago and now, it was the day of the auditions. Ellie, instrument and music folder in hand, skipped up to the fourth floors rehearsal room. Pulling open the door to the room, she walked in to the bright room and instantly shielded her eyes. The light was so bright! Quickly, as to get the most practice time, Ellie grabbed a stand and positioned herself to where her back for to the window, blocking to light but still letting it shine on her paper so she could read the all to familiar notes. She smiled at the paper she had. She only had prepared to play a part of it, but she remembered when she first got it, it took her forever to be able to play it
Once she was all set up, she looked around the room at the other people. There was two girls there, one a Ravenclaw, in her Ravenclaw robes and the other a Gryffindor, in her Gryffindor robes. Ellie said a quick, "Hello" to them and gently pick her instrument out of it's case to start playing.
Taking her bow out, she smiled. It felt good to be playing with a group of people. Playing her instrument always took the stress off her. Ellie lifted the viola to her chin and began practicing the song she had been working so hard on.

This is a club event -- please do not post in this thread unless you are already member of The Obscuro Orchestra@Avery Gray @Ellie Randensmith @Eonaria KabukimonoShe really hadn't expected them to arrive so quickly -
Korinna blinked as someone walked in - yes - she must be the singer, of course -- since she hadn't brought an instrument with her. From experience, Korinna knew that some people forgot their instruments (personally she didn't get the struggle, since she was a cellist and it was really /really/ hard to forget an instrument that big), but like... not for an audition? that was a no brainer.
"Hello!" they blushed, stepping down from the chairs in embarrassment. That must've looked so stupid. Scanning the list, their eyes quickly caught on a name and they waved at the girl shyly. "I-i'm Korinna.. and you must be.. Eonaria?"
They didn't really get a chance to hear Eonaria's response before another member came walking in, a bright smile on her face. She shielded her eyes as well - oof, the light really must be bright for them too.. perhaps the group would meet in the room of requisite next time, at least it was more remote and had more resources..
Actually, the idea wasn't half bad.
Korinna waved to Ellie as well, nodding and smiling as she began to practice. A violist. Thank goodness, at least they'd have a violist before all the violinists came pouring in. Perfect.
She smiled, turning back towards Eonaria. "It's nice to meet you! I uh.. I assume you're a singer? I'm so happy we have such a diverse group of musicians.."

The Obscuro Orchestra, is it? Might be a way to make some new friends. Get my mind off... everythin'... Assumin' I don't make a fool o' myself, that is. the first year Hufflepuff reasons as he looks at the poster. He wasn't sure what to expect, really. Hogwarts was new, in a lot of good and scary ways. He'd heard stories, of course, from his family who'd gone. But... this being his first time out of Ireland at all, let alone his first time away from his family, and his first time at a school with students who weren't related to him... it was all a bit much. And his twin wasn't even here to help him through it. Still, that message on the plaque hanging in the common room about how worrying means suffering twice scrolls through his mind. No point in assuming this would be a disaster.
He spent a lot of his free time the next few days trying to figure out where the Rehearsal Room even was, all the while trying to figure out what song he'd end up playing. When he wasn't cursing the school for these dreaded moving staircases. But eventually he found it. The day before the auditions, but it was better now than afterwards. He'd spent an hour last night practicing yesterday, before it was time to go back to the common room. Now it was time for the moment of truth. After classes, he swung by the Hufflepuff Common Room to pick up his flute case and tuck his bowtruckle plushie into his pocket for good luck, before he started the unnerving task of navigating the ever changing staircase.
"Is tromluí é seo..." "This is a nightmare..." he muttered to himself as he finally maneuvered to the 4th floor and then made his way to the Rehearsal Room. He could already hear talking inside. I hope I'm not late... He thought, before reminded himself about his new mantra about not worrying as much. He pushed the door open and made his way inside to see the trio of girls that are already there and gives them a nervous smile. One Ravenclaw, one Gryffindor, and a fellow Hufflepuff. He thinks her name's Ellie? They haven't really spoken yet, but he heard the name directed at her at the Hufflepuff Table.
He wheels his chair into the room and sets up near one of the stands, lowering it to make it easier for himself. "Name's Malcolm. I'm here fer the auditions, if it's no trouble." He says in his lilting accent.

Reducio
Malcolm is currently wheelchair bound because that's my intention for him. It hasn't technically been okayed yet, so there's a possibility this detail might change, but the prefect in my owls made it sound like they could find a way to help me have that be the case. But I'll edit my post if that's a detail I have to remove.

This is a club event -- please do not post in this thread unless you are already member of The Obscuro Orchestra@Avery Gray @Ellie Randensmith @Eonaria Kabukimono @Charlotte Evergreen @Malcom McGregorKorinna perked at the sudden arrival of another student, standing up from where they had been sitting to smile and wave at them. "Hi! Welcome!"
This was someone new, someone they hadn't seen at school before -- a first year, they presumed? Aw, if only they were better with names...
"I believe almost everyone is here, so uh.. uhm.. we'll start with strings?".. they paused. It didn't sound confident enough. What had their mother always said about sounding confident?
"W-we're still waiting on a few, but I believe we are ready to begin. That is, if everyone else is ready. Thank you all for coming."
They walked to the center of the room, squinting at their list uncertainly. "So.. going off of who's currently here.. I suppose we'll start with.. Ellie? Ellie Randensmith?" they gestured towards a door on the left, a small soundproof room within the rehearsal room. Auditions were scary if everyone could hear you....
Her eyes flickered across the room as she quickly spotted the violist who had been practicing earlier. They were fairly sure that was Ellie.. unless.. nope, that wasn't a violin. was it? ugh, even after playing a few years, they could hardly tell the difference. oops.

✽Avery was late to her first meeting. Of course it had happened on that day of all days. She had been so focused on finishing her homework that she hadn’t even realized how late it was.
Avery stood up and grabbed her saxophone before running out of the Common Room. She couldn’t be later than she already was. It would be too embarrassing.
Avery burst into the Rehearsal Room. She had probably shocked everyone with her extravagant entrance. “Sorry I’m late. Did I miss anything?”
Avery to a corner of the room. Attempting to calm her quickly beating heart without much luck. She gulped in a couple deep breaths. It had been awhile since she had last had an audience while playing her saxophone, so she was nervous.
Avery gently pulled her saxophone out of its case. That action alone was contradictory compared to her bursting recklessly through the door. She had always been very gentle with. It was her most prized possession that she had treasured ever since she had first gotten it.
Once her saxophone was put together she played a quick warm up scale. Getting her fingers and air flowing and ready for auditions. Then she was ready to join the group.
Avery stood a little back as she listened and waited for everyone to introduce themselves. She had already interrupted enough, so she would just have to figure out what was going on by observing. ✽

Charlotte Evergreen looked at the poster. The Obscuro Orchestra. Charlotte was thrilled to see the poster! But. . she didn't know whether to join. Yes, Charlotte played violin. But how could she overcome her fear of playing in front of other people? By herself? The last time she'd play in front of people. . .
Charlotte tried not to think about it. Maybe next time. When she was ready. But she also wanted to join now. She wanted to make new friends and have fun playing her violin. Charlotte took a deep breath.
At the end, Charlotte decided to join. In her room, she took her violin out of its case. Charlotte practiced over and over, to make sure she didn't sound like a dying duck. She sat on her bed nervously. She walked to the rehearsal room. Charlotte bit her lip.
Was she sure she wanted to do this? What if she messed up while playing her instrument? What if she said something wrong? She tried not to think of those things. Her heart beating furiously, she opened the door to the room. There were other people already there. Oh no, am I late? she thought nervously.
But once she was in the room, she seemed to be more relaxed. Everything was gonna be alright. She smiled shyly, happy that she had decided to join.

Roman wasn't really the type to join a club. They always struck him as silly and useless, and besides, he'd rather be by himself, doing what he wanted, without any distraction. But, he had to admit, when he saw the poster for The Obscuro Orchestra, it caught his attention.
Music (and reading, sometimes) had always been his outlet, to get away from the constant pressure and expectations of his stifling parents. Since he was 5 years old he's played the piano and hasn't missed a day since. There's something about pressing down on the keys, the fact he can play any style of music from classical to jazz to pop, that pulls him in. And ever since being sorted into Hufflepuff (read: not Slytherin), he'd desperately needed an outlet. To forget. And this seemed like the perfect opportunity.
So, Roman found himself standing inside the Rehearsel Room with five other kids (four girls and a boy), wondering why they were all just... waiting. After a few minutes of meaningless chitchat that Roman did not take part in, he cleared his throat and asked the conductor, "So, when is this going to start? Or all we all just going to stand around like a bunch of idiots who can't play music?"
Roman realized it sounded a bit harsh. He tended to get frustrated when small talk arose. What was the point? "Uh... I'm Roman, by the way."

Maisie opened the big creaking doors and went inside. She had her flute in the sleeve of the robe, a place she found handy when it came to concealing things. She had debated whether to bring her violin, too, but she decided against it. Someone else played it, and she wasn't too good, she only learnt it for about seven years, whereas she learnt the flute, which she loved, since 3 years old. Even though it's just a one year difference, it was all the difference since she put her time and effort into the flute. Hence she could play it even in her dreams.
So when the flyer, stamped on the billboard top, said in bold letters The Obscuro Orchestra , she had decided to join instantly. This was going to be a few hours every week where she could play the flute and even get to talk with others mad about music, like she was.
She wasn't the last person to come in, she hoped, because there were already six others, two of which she'd already talked, too, thankfully all in her year and house. She had dreaded being the only first year Hufflepuff, as she had thought. But she was glad to see a few familiar faces.
"I'd do okay." She thought.
