Despite his young age, Aleks has a sardonic worldview. It seeps into his approach to education through subversive humor and quiet defiance. Even in moments of peaceful aloofness, it seems to always be in the back of his mind. The notion that authority figures must be respected without exception is something he instinctively rejects. To him, it reeks of ignorance and the inability to look beyond oneโ€˜s own doorsteps. One can say moral positioning matters more to him than guidelines and privilege ever could. At his very core, heโ€™s a friendship-driven student, who tries to give everyone a fair chance. He tends to fancy the company of outsiders, who donโ€˜t quite fit their supposed mold

Aleks is of average to slightly above the average height. Overall, he looks lean and fit, with a neutral skin tone that taps into pale, and freckles across his nose, neck, and forehead. How much detail you want to go into depends on your prose style, reallyโ€”if you lean toward something flowery, you could certainly steal a few elegant adjectives from websites describing a prince having had a baby with pippi longstocking. In a more neutral text, the sort that goes heads-on with the descriptions, he might appear rather unremarkable among a crowd of students. Especially when half of them dominate the room.
Besides his body, he also has a face, two ears, hair, andโ€”like any true winner in lifeโ€”two nostrils right beneath a straight nose! And yes, he even has two eyes, with which he can, quite helpfully, see. If that isnโ€˜t an indicator for success in life, I donโ€˜t know what is.

Aleks has bright eyes, though in truth they are the product of color blending and light reflection. His actual neutral eye color is blue, with a brown central heterochromia circling the pupil. Depending on the tension in his face and the shift of his expressionโ€”his eye shape is either hunterโ€™s, or softened into hooded lids.

As mentioned, Aleksโ€™s skin tends toward the lighter side. In fact, he struggles to tan at all. Instead of turning a darker shade, his skin prefers to flare up traffic-light red and burn like a thousand torments of hell. His freckles stretch from his face all the way down to his shins. Most of them gather across his shoulders, neck, face, elbows, and knees. Heโ€™s not proud of them. To him, they feel more like speckles of fateโ€”marks that had already branded him as dirty before life even began. This view comes from the way classic books always seemed to portray brown-haired boys with freckles: anything but romantic.

Simply put, the brown hair is worn however the scissors happened to cut it, whatever shape it became as it decided to wave or the wind happened to blow it. Aleks cuts it almost exclusively himself whenever a strand bothers him. Only to keep the lower partโ€”at the nape and behind the earsโ€”shorter, his mother is regularly conscripted as a makeshift hairdresser. She hates being employed for his unbothered yet bothered attitude about hairstyles, but does it anyway since money is tight.

The process of choosing clothes is far less straightforward than Aleks himself. Whatever feels comfortable and looks more or less fine together gets worn. Alongside old Converse with scratched notes carved into the soles, shirts with loose buttons that have seen better days, and worn-out scarves, itโ€™s obvious he isnโ€™t picky. The only thing keeping him from looking like a homeless person is that he refuses to wear anything dirty. There are limits, after allโ€”and his mum raised him at least well enough not to walk through Hogwarts like a dumpster-diving squirrel.

First Instance of Magic:
Aleksโ€™s first instance of his magic came when he was five years old and alone in the kitchen. His mother had promised to share the rests of the half-eaten chocolate cake with him. But as she was busy in the living room next to the kitchen, Aleks had climbed up onto a kitchen chair to check on the waiting cake; only to discover the empty packaging and missing remains inside.
Horrified, he dropped the box. In this moment, every door of the nearby fridge burst open, and its entire contents exploded outward, emptying every shelf in what could only be described as a โ€šmagically visible tantrumโ€˜.

Aleks was born in the North of Serbia. His father had no interest in starting a family with his mother, nor acknowledging what he nowadays must consider a โ€šrandom business-tripโ€˜. He thus kept his distance from Aleks. He never met him and barely knows anything about him either, but his mother always claimed that the man held political influence and had more money than he could ever need. How much of this is true, is debatable. All of her letters and requests for financial support remained unanswered.
His Mother herself had no money and due to a lack of education she had barely any prospects in her home country (Serbia). When Aleks was two years old, she thus immigrated with him to England. Even with the language barrier, the woman managed to find a small low-income job in a magical shop in the city Portsmouth. Aleks has lived in England ever since, and learned the English language in the years that followed. Still, at home, he and his mother speak only Serbian with each other.

Despite hardships, which made only the emotional bond a steady constant, Aleks was never able to build a strong relationship with his mother. He blames stress, the hardships of immigration and financial problems for that distance. But he knows she still provided as much care as she could.
His early education consisted of sparse primary teachings by a neighboring old lady, who looked after him while his mother was at worked. His basic magical foundation came later, through a local preparatory school. Aleks chose to attend it out of his own curiosity and initiative, trying to get out of the dirty apartment once in a while.
