Quidditch Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff - Spring 2025

Still muttering under her breath aqbout being punished when she hadn't even done anything and the clearly biased referee call, Camilla still put herself into zooming around the pitch for a penalty lap. Hufflepuff couldn't afford to be down a player to penalty laps with the kind of upperclassmen they were facing down in the Ravenclaws.

Damn, how had she only managed to score 20 points? Sure, the hoops weren't open like they sometimes were, but that was definitely a bit of a blow to the old ego when some kid actually managed to grab the Quaffle from her. Shout out to the youngin', but Winnie mentally reminded herself to practice a bit more after this match.

Quinn was kind enough to fly Jorah back to his broom. Jorah was usually the one knocking other people off their brooms. It was embarrassing enough that he got knocked off in the first place, but now he had to get escorted to his broom while the rest of the team fought on. He wasn't about to let this save go to waste. Once they arrived at their destination, Jorah hopped off Quinn's broom and took to the air once again. "Thanks again Quinn, next round of Butter beers are on me!"

In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).
In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

Note: For the rules lawyers out there: you are not considered your own ally.
In the role of Beater, if you critically hit with a bludger, instead of doing double-damage you do 2.5x damage. If you critically fail with your bludger attempt to hit, rather than having your bludger randomly target another user (including yourself or an ally) the bludger cannot target you on a critical fail (but it can still target your allies). On a re-target, there is a random roll for target and then a fresh accuracy roll.

Blatching was one of Lavinia’s favorite moves. Besides getting the glory of throwing the quaffle into the hoops, she loved knocking opponents off their brooms. Most of the time her blatches went unseen and she was able to get away with the illegal move without having to take a penalty lap which was always great. For right now, Lavinia targeted Hufflepuff’s keeper and went for the blatch, knocking her swiftly off her broom. Waiting for the whistle alerting her of being seen, Lavinia sent a wink to the crowds and flew away from the incident. Unfortunately, Atlas found another broom to hop onto so Lavinia was stuck seeing her not so hard work have diminishing returns.

Shrugging off her last easy cheating move, Lavinia threw away the thought of cheating again, she did not want a penalty lap in her last game. Scanning the rest of her team, Lavinia felt encouraged and defeated, hopefully they could pick it up quick and increase their lead!

An annoyed look remained on Daphne’s face, she was growing frustrated-first she couldn’t get the ball and when she did she was blocked. She was trying her best not to get angry seeing Ravenclaw score, but she supposed it was better than being knocked out. She would fly beside Avery while narrowing her eyes, trying her best to keep a cool head and not lose hope.

Abilities: Alluring: A Part-Veela is incredibly beautiful, the magic creates an "entranced" effect, wherein those that would be an attraction where they lose sight of their surroundings and focus more than necessary on the Part-Veela's movements or appearance. Viewers are also prone to experiencing thoughts of a strong desire to impress or be with the Part-Veela in question, some are strongly attracted romantically.

Prodigal DADA Learner: Able to learn Defense Against the Dark Arts 1 year ahead of their actual school year. You may only choose a spell taught in DADA classes. At end game they learn 1 restricted spell. This can also serve as an alternative means to learning spells besides earning them through DADA class.

Scream: The scream can be disorienting (-1 accuracy and -1 evasion), requiring a full action to perform but does not require a wand. This can stack indefinitely and persist until the end of the encounter. This scream can target a single user or it can target up to five users (as an AOE attack). Alternatively, this spell can be used to temporarily deafen an opponent. So rather than cause the player to become disoriented, they would become deafened (unable to hear) for the next 5 rounds.

Teammates and opponents buzzed past overhead as Avis fiddled with her jersey sleeve anxiously.

Her eyes flicked back and forth between the chasers and Aly, and she absentmindedly rose to her feet for a second at Winnie’s easy shot.

She sat back down slowly and clasped her sweaty palms together. 60-10. Now all they had to do was find the snitch to secure another win this year. But that was much easier said than done.

It happened in a split second.

Jess was gliding along, preoccupied by the roars from the crowd, when she caught sight of a Bludger heading straight for Atlas. There was no way of preventing it from making contact, so Jess did the only thing she could think of - she leaned forward, speeding towards the ground, determined to be beneath Atlas so that she could catch her.

I was a race against time. Jess willed her Silver Arrow to reach its fastest pace, and she could only hope that she would make it as she watched Atlas tumble towards the ground…

Not a moment too soon, Jess soared through, grabbing Atlas while clinging to her broom with all her might. I did it! Jess laughed out loud as she made sure Atlas was safe. She heard Koko Riddle say “kudos to McLeod” and couldn’t help but blush. What a thrill!

The Bench

Sometimes, it was just difficult to put ideas into words, or something to that end. Sage and Landon would certainly learn to understand this as they discussed whichever way the game might go, but to little productive avail.

Only one other person would have a similar issue, this time with cheering, but Avis would be unable to say exactly what caused it. All she would know was that there was a sense of unease pervading her, what she might call 'bad juju' if she weren't in the middle of a Quidditch match. Whatever it was, her cheers faltered, and she would have the strange sensation that she was being watched.

Yet for the others, it was smooth swimming. Tesla would be able to hear Mamori and Callum cheering with ease. The same went for Jorah, who could easily pick Ophelia's voice out in a crowd. Although, perhaps to Daphne's disdain, she would very well be affected by Andy's booing.

The Quaffle

'Oh, what's this we have here? Young Daphne Sapphirus contesting the Quaffle with... oh, goodness, Hufflepuff, it might be time to pull out your handkerchiefs. That right there is Lavinia Cloven, Chaser supreme.' A pause for suspense. 'Best of luck, Sapphirus! Come on, let's hear some noise!'

Try as Daphne might, Lavinia was just... seasoned. She'd probably been Chasing since she was a toddler, at any rate. 'Oh, that's... ten points, twenty, thirty, oh goodness... forty, and FIFTY for Ravenclaw! Tough run of it, puffs!'

The Snitch

For once, the bad vibes seemed to have permeated a different part of the field than wherever Aly Salinger was at. She would gaze at the sky, and within just a few seconds, the Snitch would make itself visible. Perhaps it was a relief! It certainly would be for some of the more-perceptive onlookers.

But that wasn't all. A few others on the Ravenclaw team, namely Aston and Quinn, would set their sights on two Hufflepuffs — Atlas and Daphne respectively.

'I'm sorry? What did Reid do to you, Beckett!? Erm, okay.'

The announcer was at a loss as to what Mr Beckett was attempting to do. It really looked like he was just flying over to Atlas to mess with her. Which, weird flex, but okay.

Quinn swiftly locked broom handles with Daphne's, steering her wildly off course. This happened to be more obvious than whatever it was Aston was trying to do. 'Hey, HEY, that's illegal, for Merlin's sake, that is a PENALTY LAP for Miss Brook! If you're going to cheat, at least try not to get caught. I have eyes!'

The Big, Bad Beaters

'Finally, some good entertainment!'

With Jorah back in action, it seemed that all of the previous ignoring of the bludgers would not happen again. Not on his watch. He took up one bat in each hand and decided he might as well wreak havoc.

'Oooooh, a bludger right at Sapphirus! But WAIT! Not on McCall's watch! She flies in, and... ohhh, that's got to hurt! And that lovely broom... Oh, but there's more!'

After being momentarily out of commission while being returned to his broom, it seemed Jorah had to make up for all the bludgering he had missed out on. The shot ricocheted, but it likely did not go wherever Jorah was aiming it.

'Seriously? At Jacobsen? Isn't she one of your teammates?'

Well, at least Jacobsen remained on her broom, even if she'd definitely taken a beating. 'Ouch. Someone really ought to get that girl some ice.'

He wasn't done. The older Ravenclaw thwacked yet another bludger, this time in the way of Tesla, who had very little hope of evading. 'And Moussa shatters Stone's broom, too! Wow!'

The bludger ricocheted again, this time more noticeably towards Daphne, but the Seeker evaded without any trouble. 'And Sapphirus is safe! For now.'

This time, it was Tesla who wasn't done. She aimed, and she struck, and... 'Ooooooh, is that— oh, that is! Jorah Moussa, knocked out! Wow, that's a surprise! But wait, there's more! At... Miss Brook!? Interesting, not a hard shot at all. Miss Brook's still up and flying!'




Although both Winnie and Camilla scoured the sky for falling teammates, none of the teammates that fell were able to be saved. 'Maybe get some ice for them, yeah? But after the game!'

Meanwhile, Jess managed to return Atlas to her broom. 'And McLeod and Reid are back to their full power! This will be exciting. Stay tuned, grab some concessions if you must, but whatever you do, don't tear your gaze from the game!'

Dang it. Both of the first string beaters out, and Sage stood up to take her spot up in the air. The odds were still fairly even on both teams- except for the point amount- in Sage's opinion. They both had two strong players out on both teams. Her fingers curved around her broom handle as she took to the sky and gripped her bat tightly.

Ophelia's eyes roamed the stadium, taking in all the action. If the first two rounds of the match had been relatively quiet, this round had bursted to the seams with action. There were people flying left and right, being returned to brooms, hit by bludgers, or getting crashed into. But in the middle of it all, Ophelia caught a bit of motion from the Ravenclaw seeker. Aha! It seemed that this snitch was about to be caught and this game was about to become another win for Ravenclaw.
