8 February 2025 -- Discussions

The sight of her literally caused Simon to jump, and not in a good way. She rolled her eyes at her forgetfulness and quickly cast a Reducio on herself to get back to normal. "Sorry. Mind is on other things and I forgot." She watched as Pamela reluctantly went back over to the patients, and AngelFyre frowned, not at the girl, but at her herself. Being "voluntold" to go do something was never a fun thing, and it never made the one requesting it popular, but what else were they left to do? Something clearly had to be done?

She had a thought to talk over with Simon, but he himself was facing his own heavy burdens in the moment, more than any of them. He was the only one here who knew squat about how this place worked and what might or might not be good to attempt here. Even he was looking for help, and that was just another layer of worry and concern for the moment.

When she heard him mention the Antidotes for Poisons, her heart beat a little faster. That was a good thought. Better than hers certainly. She had been thinking about how the potion had made her feel, and by the looks of those who appeared to have had more than she had, but not quite as much as those in the beds, her best guess had led her to the Calming Draught. Simon was looking to treat more critically pressing symptoms, but she felt this was still worth a mention.

When he returned after looking for the Nurse, she brought it up to him quickly "I suppose you know, but just in case not, all three of the boys are burning up. I have the girls applying cool compresses, but if you know something else we can be doing, we will. Also, your potions ideas are great. What would you think about also administering the calming draught? The potion, at least for me, had me feeling euphoric but when it went away, I was devastated. I still am. I, even at this moment, feel shaky and sick, my head is killing me, and Simon, all I want is more of that potion to feel better. If I did not have all of this to concentrate on, I would go mad."

"I think Mamori had been dosing himself with quite a bit. There were 4-5 bottles found in his hand before you carried him up here. The Calming Draught might be helpful for the rest of the folks here who did not necessarily overdose. What do you think? I am thinking right now of Ruth. And Emily, if she were here."
AngelFyre whispered the last with a good deal of worry.

"And me." Her eyes darted towards his, feeling the shame behind her request, but she was not so full of pride as to be stupid about not seeking help. She could be of no use to others, or him, if she was not functioning to the best of her abilities.

"I know you are alone and doing what you can, I just wanted to put it out on the table. I will be back over with the patients. Let us know if there is something else we all should.. or should not... be doing." When she turned, she gave him a silent "You are doing great, love."

As she made her way back over to the patients' beds, the smell was more than a little overwhelming. She drew Godshall and cast Orchideous a number of times, and filled the area with fragrant bouquets of night jasmine, lilacs, and roses, all in the hopes of making things a little more pleasant for everyone. "I am taking requests," she chirped as cheerfully as she could and smiled at Ruth, Pamela, and Aurelia. "Let me know your favorite flowers and I will add them to the mix."

She walked over and grabbed a cloth, dipping it into the basin and then placed it on Pettely's head. It took almost no time at all for the cloth to feel warm in her hand, but she kept dipping. As she did so, she cleared her throat before addressing the girls. "First thing I want to tell you three is thank you so much for all of your help. I know this is not fun and I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate you not only stepping up, but giving neither me nor Simon any guff along the way. That means a lot right now. And I am fairly certain if these three could talk, they would tell you the same."

She removed the cloth from Pettely's forehead and dipped it once again into the basin, bringing it back up to his forehead. Keep the focus there. Dear God, keep his brain from overheating if possible.

"S0, a few things. First. None of you are in trouble, but we do need some answers. I am pretty certain Ruth has had some of the potion, but I need to know about you two?" and she raised her eyes to look over at Pamela and Aurelia. "If you have had some, how much? Where did you get it? And most importantly, do you know others who have ingested it that we need to check up on? Not everyone may have been as lucky as these three to get help, so your truthful response will be critical to maybe saving some lives."

If there is something Aurelia wishes to be blessed in these trying times, it would be when someone knowing—or aware—of what to do would give her orders in order to help. Her deep brown eyes shifted towards both AngelFyre and Simon, her eyes giving off an expression that is something akin to begging and helplessness. Both former prefects run around the Hospital Wing as though searching for something inexplicable to the useless First Years; it frustrated her to no end, it somehow felt like she was being underestimated. She will not mess up, she wholeheartedly swears to the gods and goddesses alike who hears all her internal prayers despite the fact that she did not believe into such beings. Desperate times does call for desperate measures. Such thwarting and defeating quote—it does turned down all possible logical decisions to do. Whatever the easiest, it is most probable to grab.

This is why she suggested cooling down the patients to Ruth. She figured she did not prefer to stand idly by while they are stepped aside as though they are not willing to help and would pose as a nuisance instead. However, the gods and goddesses she initially did not believe in must have decided that they are being the most unfair and have opened their hands to her marginally by, of course, making AngelFyre hear her offer and decided to take upon it by preparing water basins and cloths. Cinderella would have been horrified to see such spectacle—Aurelia, sighing in relief as soon as the older girl kindly ordered them to attend to the patients while the Hospital Nurse is nowhere to be found.

She eyed Ruth, since the older girl had ordered her to sit instead to assist the former prefects. It was like seeing the Sun dim, like it was already dying star. The girl beside her looks dispirited, a sight she had never seen before. The young badger thought none of it, as she only regarded it as a weakness to the sight of people coming down to illnesses. This is no place for the weak, and the raven-haired badger will prove that.

Are you tired?

I am beyond exhausted.

The young Hufflepuff witch chose to ignore such ruminations currently lurking in the back of her mind. Again, this is no place for the weak—one should leave if one could not bear these type of situations. With an eagerness on her delicate face rivaling a niffler seeing a sparkling, valuable object—she sat on the hospital bed, her deep brown eyes assessing. “You must be Clark,” she softly wondered, dipping the cloth in the basin before wringing it. To release the heat, she first rolled the sleeves of his robes up to his forearms, then untying his Hufflepuff tie and unbuttoning the top part of his robes. She then wiped the damp cloth on his face, neck, and arms, dipping the cloth in the basin several times in order to keep it damp. Many times, of course, she winced; as Clark emitted more abnormal heat than Mamori. She brushed away the thought, like flies, that his situation must be more severe compared to that of the pink-haired badger.

Is your soul burning too?

Simon called out near the Nurse's Office, even stretching it to the corridors, which she knew reverberated and bounced against the stony, moonlit walls—searching for the Nurse or even an adult who would rush to the scene upon hearing the gossips from the half-witted ghosts... contrast to the temperature the patients are being tortured with, the cold had gripped her very core, her hand holding the cloth suspended in the air. It is in that moment Aurelia realised that they are terribly alone, that the feeling of being abandoned by the adults who are supposed to care for the aforementioned patients had felt similarly, perhaps, what Cain felt when he was banished by God, the being he very much did what he could to impress. It was somewhat funny—if it didn't feel so harrowing at the same time, she would have laughed terribly and be diminished for it.

Wringing the cloth once again, she folded it carefully before placing it on Clark's forehead, pressing the cloth down in order for the dampness to seep into his skin. He is still burning—it was not a fever at all that was associated with the unlabelled potion. Relief surged her entire being when she aimed her index finger under Clark's nostrils again to feel if he is still breathing and of course, he is. No corpse will be able to emit this much heat, naturally. However, she knew nothing about brain-dead people, as this type of temperature surely burns something internally. They need the Hospital Wing nurse for this, they all did what they could. While observing if she should wipe him again in later hours if, for instance, his temperature would not change at all, AngelFyre came back to cast a spell, bouquets of assorted flowers popping in the said room with their fragrant scents, overturning the smell of vomit which dominated the area.

"I like the smell of lilies," Aurelia replied, nodding to herself as her eyes give off a thoughtful expression. "Any flower which smells citrusy would be very nice. The smell would help alleviate the nausea and vomiting, I believe—hoping the patients would smell them all while currently... unconscious. They might vomit again in this state; the probability of being choked because of it is very high." How did she know this? Aurelia was a very sickly girl when she was a child, she always gripped orange and lemon peels in her little hands when her and her Mum were traveling around London. Cold compress is for fever to reduce abnormal heat. Choking in vomit does happen too. Aurelia brushed Clark's hair from his forehead—which is matted with sweat—before replacing the cloth.

AngelFyre cleared her throat, successfully snatching Aurelia's attention from Clark. The older girl is tending to a First Year that is not familiar with her. She let out a sigh as soon as she made her opening spiel, as though the reminder of them working and tending to the patients instead of resting in their dormitories relaxed her muscles, the exhaustion running up in front in order to be emphasised. She slouched. The call of her bed did resounded in the back of her mind. In the continuation of the older girl's speech, she let out a laugh. "Ruth could have not," the raven-haired badger started, shaking her head, disbelieving. "Pamela is the only one between us who consumed the unlabelled potion."

After drinking the potion, Lyanna stumbled out of the common room, feeling...strong? Happy? Calm? She wasn't really sure. Everything seemed a bit blurry, a little too unreal. As if she should've known that this wouldn't be the only effect that the mysterious drink would give her. But at the time, she was unaware of anything except the brief blissful state that she had landed herself in. Walking up the steps, Lyanna felt bursts of energy and happiness go through her body. As she kept going, she even started giggling randomly, without any real reason to do so.

And then she saw it.

The body of her friend Joseph Sims was sprawled on the ground, unconscious. A few glass phials of the mysterious potion lay shattered beside him, others sticking out of his pocket, and more still on the floor of the corridor; there was so much glass that it was hard to count how many of the small bottles there were. Lyanna walked closer, her senses slowly coming back to her as the potion was starting to gradually wear off. Before seeing what state Joseph was in, she thought it was a nightmare. There wasn't much that could surprise her after having taken the potion, right?
But what she saw next was more than just a nightmare, more than a nasty surprise. Joseph's eyes were pure black. There was inky black vomit everywhere. The boy looked dreadful, in a state somewhere between alive and dead. Terror swept over Lyanna, more powerful than any potion. The potion's effects on her ended, leaving her alone in the reality of an empty corridor, night drawing nearer and her friend looking nothing short of awful, and even that was an understatement.

Thinking as quickly as she could, trying to ignore her thirst for more of the potion, Lyanna decided that the first thing she could do was check if he was alive. Listening to see if she heard his heart beating, she exhaled, relieved. He was not dead. The only other thing she could do was bring him to the Hospital Wing. Carefully dragging him with her, she was relieved when she realized that the Hospital Wing was only a three corridors away. After a few steps though, she noticed that he was starting to become really heavy. Heavier than he should've been. It was the potion. Not only did it give her strength and happiness in the time that its effects lasted, it also took strength away for the same amount of time after that. Not only strength, but also happiness, because after the potion stopped effecting her, Lyanna couldn't stop her craving from growing every second that passed.

There was still another potion in her pocket. Would she take it? Trying to fight the urge, Lyanna kept trying to drag Joseph closer to Hospital Wing. Only two corridors left. The temptation to take it became stronger, harder to resist. But she couldn't yet. She needed to help her friend. One corridor away and Lyanna was desperate. She could hardly walk, let alone drag Joseph. Her strength had still not returned, but rather diminished. There was no way she would make it. But with the potion she would at least make it to the Hospital Wing. And even though she knew that she would feel even worse if she took more, she needed to help her friend, and couldn't resist anymore.

And so, for the second time that evening, Lyanna uncorked her second phial of mysterious potion and downed it.

The effects were instantaneous. Strength and happiness were overwhelming her, but this time Lyanna kept her mind. She dragged Joseph through the final corridor and arrived at the Hospital Wing. She'd used up her extra dose of strength quicker this time, so the potion was already starting to wear off. Only after sitting down on one of the beds, she noticed there were others in the room too, and said: "Oh, hello... Joseph seems to be feeling quite ill..." and quieter she mumbled, "potion..." At the time, Lyanna was still recovering physically from the potion, but about five minutes later she would look rather normal again and would be able to recite what had happened.

Speech -- Thoughts

Pam had seen the questions coming, however she had not been prepared with a decent answer to give to the older girl.

What was she supposed to say? That she had downed an entire phial of the potion during a momentary lapse of judgement and had then taken to become a chocolate-addicted maniac? Yeah that did not sound good. She hoped she'd be able to convince Angelfyre about the fact that she was alright now; she did not have any desire whatsoever to have those medicines with tastes to rival all kinds of pumpkin foods. Pam hated pumpkins. She hated the medicines even more.

However, she was definitely not prepared for Aurelia to give away her earlier escapade, and she found herself gaping at the fellow Hufflepuff, torn between surprise and betrayal. Wow, I'm hurt. She glanced at the older girl, temporarily debating screaming and fleeing, before reminding herself that it was just a potion and she was totally alright. Yeah, it's not like I've killed anyone. Okay, that's not very reassuring. She flashed Angelfyre a sheepish smile and began saying nervously, "Uh haha, yeah that was a while back.... I'm okay now though--"

Pamela Graham, get a grip. This is not the time for nervous giggling.

She quickly fixed her posture before continuing, "Well, I did have one before....probably around 5th of February? It had taken a little while for the effects to properly set in." She considered for a second before correcting herself, "Actually not that long, 10 minutes tops, I'd say. The next two days had been amazing, like literally amazing. I totally sailed through Herbology and History of Magic, not to mention I didn't fall of my broom or make a complete fool of myself during flying."

As she realised that she was getting sidetracked, Pam found herself smiling at the memories and quickly recovered her posture, although she sobered up quickly at the thought of what happened after, "Getting down from the high was what had been....painful." The line sounded totally lame to her ears but Pam could not really bring herself to elaborate on that specific low of her life. I can wait to see if she prods more, right? So she moved on to the last part of the question, glancing subconsiously at Ruth as she answered, "As for someone else who's had, I don't think I really-"

Her attention was snatched away as the door to the Hospital Wing opened again and a girl walked in, carrying (or dragging) yet another passed out boy with her. The boy did not seem to be moving at all, and as Pam's eyes fell on his face, her brain short-circuited for a second, startled by yet another familiar face. Oh, hey, that's Astronomy Tower boy-- wait, that wasn't his name. Pam glanced at the girl who had also just come in, vaguely recognising her from somewhere. "You should probably give him a cold compress too..." she looked at Angelfyre as her voice trailed off, "...no?"

Distributing and administering potions in an attempt to help. Open to any and all interactions.

Well, he tried.

Simon stood there in the doorway for a few moments more and waited, hoping that perhaps the headmaster, the nurse, or another staff member heard out the calls but it wasn't worth waiting any longer. The longer he waited and did nothing meant these others were headed toward their end. This wasn't just a situation where one waited for someone to come anymore, no, not when no one was coming. This was a time to act because these students were burning up with dangerously high temperatures and the convulsions and unresponsiveness could lead to various complications.

So Simon came back into the Hospital Wing and went to the storeroom, grabbing a box and filling it with many, many little bottles.

"I'm going to give them all some potions that will hopefully help and then we're all taking a calming draught," he called out from in there, hoping they knew he wasn't abandoning them in a time of need. He would never. He could never.

When he came back out into the main area, he hurried over to the most severe of their cases and give them all a dose of three separate potions: the antidote for common poisons, the antidote for uncommon poisons, and a calming draught. He was careful to hold their head up each time so that they didn't choke on any of them.

He then handed out the blue colored calming draught to every single person in the room. "Drink it. Drink it so you feel better. Drink it so we can focus a little more on the task at hand. Drink it so we can figure this all out," because maybe, just maybe, it was up to the Puffs.

8 February 2025 -- Discussions

"Lilies and citrus, eh? Then lilies and citrus you shall have," and AngelFyre cast another few "Orchideous" spells, as bouquets of lilies and orange blossoms mixed with the other arrangements already in the room. As the fragrances began to waft in their general vicinity, AngelFyre began to feel a little better and more clear-headed..

Sadly, there had been no changes in the patients' conditions, even with the cool compresses. Then she caught herself from going down into a spiral of doom and negativity. They were all three still alive. Perhaps they might not be without the cool compresses, so she continued making the applications to Pettely's head, while waiting for one of girls to speak up.

It somehow did not surprise AngelFyre in any way that Aurelia would be the first to reply to her questions, but what did stick with her was the brass behind her tone. She did not know the girl at all, so she had no way of judging, especially under these extraordinary circumstances, whether there were targeted bites behind her bark or just exhaustion. Perhaps there was more than a little compensation for fear of the uncertainty surrounding everything going on in the moment, and who could blame her? AngelFyre was not generally a person to take offense easily, so the condescension ribboned within Aurelia's laugh and cock-sure reply definitely got her attention, but not a rise.

Well, it did merit a raised eyebrow.

It was clear as day to AngelFyre that Aurelia could not be more wrong about Ruth's ingestion of a potion. Were the two girls friends? Perhaps Aurelia was simply going off what she knew of her friend's peersonality as opposed to the actual facts. But Aurelia did not stop at correcting AngelFyre about Ruth. She actually outed Pamela by mentioning she was the only amongst them who had "consumed the unlabelled potion." She had only spoken two short sentences, but they were packed with all kinds of information.

Well, now they were getting somewhere. A mental note was made that Aurelia neither confirmed nor denied swigging any of the potion herself, but AngelFyre would circle back around to that in a due course. Before she even had a chance to question Pamela, she caught sight of Pamela's obvious displeasure at being mentioned by name. AngelFyre had to admit she would have been annoyed as well. With them both there, one should expect that they could each speak for themselves, and should at least be granted the opportunity to do so before being outed. In this instance, that would have seemed like a more productive, and friendship saving move, but AngelFyre knew there was likely more to it.

Pamela sheepishly admitted to drinking some of the potion way back on the 5th. The 5th?!? That was nearly three days ago. How long had this stuff been around? Is that how long these three had been consuming it? But then she told AngelFyre that the effects were quite quick and lasted for about two days. She was enthusiastic at the memory of her two days and the feelings of accomplishment and no struggle to get through two classes in particular. It was the coming off the potion where Pamela found her troubles to begin, but she said no more at that point. Like Aurelia before her, Pamela was now trafficking in evasion and cherry-picking questions she wanted to answer while leaving others in the dust.

AngelFyre was most curious about Pamela's experience with coming off the potion as she was experiencing a little of that herself. She was not planning on asking for private details, and was about to say as much, but then another Hufflepuff, another younger girl, entered the Hospital Wing, dragging a boy behind her.

AngelFyre rushed over to check on him, and her heart dropped to her stomach as she noticed immediately he was in the same catatonic state as the other three, and he, too, was a Hufflepuff. He was breathing, covered in his own vomit, and also very hot. She also noticed, after scourgifying him, that he was one of the kids that had joined the Hufflepuff tour she and Simon had conducted the first night of school. He kept calling Simon Mr. Kingcard. She looked at the bright-eyed girl who had dragged him here and asked her to continue to help just a little longer by working with AngelFyre to get the kid over to a free bed.

Four. Now there were 4 catatonic patients. What the bloody blazes was going on here anyway? AngelFyre asked the girl her name, and before she could say more, Pamela mentioned it might be a good idea to start cooling him off as well with a compress.

"Agreed," she stated, and smile nodded at Pamela. AngelFyre quickly took a few seconds to communicate with Simon, letting him know as he got the antidotes ready that he had another catatonic patient on his hands and another girl under the milder influence of the potion.

She was about to followup on the answers the girls had provided, but Simon came to the rescue. She watched her fellow, in gobsmacked awe and pride, as he tended to the catatonic patients with three potions each. Then he even gave the rest of them, himself included, a dose of the Calming Draught. She loved that he he had listened to her and thought enough of the idea to follow through on it. His forcefulness in tone was impressive, leaving no wiggle room for any of them to do anything but take it.

She accepted the dose of Calming Draught he dispensed, and drank it with no hesitation. Then she just momentarily hung onto his hand, rubbing her thumb on the back of his knuckles before releasing him as a mild form of encouragement. "You are doing great, Simon. How long before you think we might see any improvement in these four?" she asked him silently?

In less than a few seconds, AngelFyre was already feeling less tense and more able to concentrate; bypassing the doubts and fatigue of just a minute beforehand.

"Thank you, Simon. I can already feel the difference. Tell me what you most need help with and I will get right to it. I have been trying to get a history of who has had some of this stuff and who may have had some that is not yet here, but if you need extra hands as opposed to a gabby, amateur detective, just say the word."

𝕽uth had not been expecting to get called out by AngelFyre. She had merely been sitting as instructed, watching Aurelia repeatedly dip the towel into the basin and cool Clark. It was a rather calming process and it almost sent Ruth into sleep as her eyes traversed back and forth from Clark's face to the basin, following the damp cloth. If only she hadn't looked so exhausted, she could have helped. However, she couldn't help it. The exhaustion weighed down on every inch of her body, her limbs sluggish, her mind dulled.

"I am pretty certain Ruth has had some of the potion--" Ruth snapped up from her drowsy state, her breath caught in her throat. She stared at AngelFyre, stunned. How had she known? She hadn’t said a word about taking the potion—had been sure she had hidden the effects well enough. But AngelFyre didn't even question it; she had simply stated it as fact. A cold trickle of anxiety ran down Ruth’s spine. Had she been that obvious?

Instinctively, she flicked her gaze toward Aurelia, fear creeping up her chest. If AngelFyre had noticed, then surely Aurelia—who knew her far better—would pick up on it too. What would she say? Would she be angry? Would she demand answers? The thought of facing Aurelia’s scrutiny made her stomach twist. Losing Aurelia's trust--the thought was unbearable.

But before Ruth could brace for the inevitable interrogation, Aurelia let out a laugh, her reply sending relief crashing over the girl like a wave. She didn't believe their senior. Her secret was safe.

She cast a look back at AngelFyre, the raised eyebrow signifying that she wasn't budging from what she had said. Ruth licked her dry lips and glanced over to Pam, who had begun her inevitable confession. Saved, for now. Ruth made a mental note to tell AngelFyre later.

She listened to Pam attentively, absorbing her words. And as Pam spoke of the high, the way everything had seemed so easy, so natural, Ruth couldn’t help but relate. She had been incredible on her broom. Not just good—breathtaking. Racing, weaving, even pulling off tricks she had only ever imagined before, all in one seamless go.

And now? Now, the broom felt almost foreign, her body uncoordinated, as if the potion had taken something from her along with the high. The thought made her stomach churn. Fists clenched against her robes, she gritted her teeth as guilt shoved at her skin. Regret.

Her self-pity was interrupted by another entry through the double doors of the infirmary, her eyes latched onto the brown waves. Oh. My. Goodness.

Ruth bolted out of her seat, horrified. The ink dripped from Joseph's gaping mouth, running over his cheeks and into his hair from the position he had been dragged into the hospital wing by a girl Ruth wasn't sure she had seen around. Ruth couldn't bring herself to rush over to the lad's body, frigid. Frozen as thoughts of their single encounter flashed before her eyes. His smile, his ease as he willingly let her handle Astra.

Something clicked within her. Crushed the final straw. "Jos--"she choked out, then turned to cast a look towards Mamori, then Clark, then Pettley. Her breath grew ragged, hands grasping the crown of her hair as she stared down at the ground, speechless. What was happening to them? What was happening to her? She squeezed her eyes shut, lips trembling as her fingers laced into her strands, clenching them and shooting pain through her scalp. Calm down, calm down calm down-- The niggling feeling of a presence forced her to look up, only to see Simon handing her a potion.

Calming Draught, was what the boy had said. Calming... The last time she had willingly consumed a potion, it had left her drained and hollow. She eyed it nervously, then found everyone else downing it down, including AngelFyre herself. The hesitation and fear was lightened slightly and she reluctantly brought the potion to her lips, drinking it. Its underlying floral bitterness made her grimace slightly, but as she stood a slow warmth spread through her chest.

The tension gripping her muscles eased, the dull ache in her head fading into the background. Her racing thoughts, which had been tangled in a frantic web of fear and overanalysis, slowed to a manageable hum. The anxiety clenching her ribs loosened, and though exhaustion still weighed her down, it no longer felt suffocating. This was nice. Peaceful.

The moment the Greek saw AngelFyre coming to help, she tried to help her silently. And silent because she was calculating all kinds of possible situations. When AngelFyre, now a giant with a bit of help from magic, lifted Pettely, a bottle or two of an unlabeled potion fell out. Using a piece of cloth she found who knows where, Eugenia picked it up and showed it to AngelFyre. He drank from that mysterious potion. Possibly, he got overdosed. She thought for a bit before continuing. I think his name is Pettely. I vaguely remember him from the sorting ceremony.

It took Eugenia a few moments to digest the senior’s question. How many people had actually drank a potion with no label? Certainly not. I haven’t drank even a sip of this thing. If it is unlabeled, then it is probably also dangerous. She obliged to AngelFyre’s order, along with Ruth. Mechanically, she opened the way so that the group could get to the Hospital Wing. Don’t you dare get in our way I’ll hex you. OPEN UP! Her voice changed all kinds of tones and colours. It was hard not to get angry at the world. Who let mysterious potions just appear in Hogwarts like this?

When they arrived, she let AngelFyre and Simon do their job. They knew far more than she did, at least in healing, that is, so she let them be. Some of the others tried to help their seniors, but she, in he absence of nurse Barnes, had other plans. Looking around the room, she noticed a half goblin (of course Clark would have to be here). Three catatonic kids. More like corpses than alive.

Eugenia quickly walked over to the nurse’s desk and began searching all around for some parchment. Once she found some, she also grabbed a nearby quill and started writing. She wrote down every single thing she knew about this odd mysterious potion: what it’s effects were, what happened with overdoses (well, she wasn’t blind so she could easily see) etc.

The fact that she was writing in total silence from her part could have been worrying. But she was listening, even writing down snippets of the conversation. She was laying her plan down to help her fellow badgers. She snapped out of her thoughts when she saw another boy being dragged through the entrance by a fellow first year girl. Oh dear. There was a fourth. A fourth catatonic child. Now they could easily be screwed. She took a deep breath and cast Scourgify on this boy, the vomit around him slowly clearing.

But then, this made it even more important she should go. She was hearing confessions of drinking the potion left and right. It had been in the common room for days, but no one had even cared to say anything. She hadn’t either. Even though the damage had been done, there were still some bottles. The supplier was still among them. Better late than no mention of them to their head of house at all.

For now though, that would wait. She would finally do something about this issue and see the elephant in the room for itself. She was going to help.

Looking from the new catatonic to the girl who brought him there, Eugenia noticed she looked hazed. As if she had drunk something that was controlling her. She was a first year, no doubt. Memories from this year’s sorting ceremony were being prodded through to find the name… Ah yes. Lyanna. The other should have been a second year, she remembered him vaguely, but he had probably done a terrible job passing his exams.

She walked over to Lyanna. Hey, you are Lyanna, no? Sit down, you look exhausted. Simon was handing out calming draughts, so she took one, but didn’t drink it for now. It could come in handy later. She gave one to Lyanna nd turned to her seniors. If you want me to do anything, please tell me. I was just writing some stuff down, I think at least one or two of us should go to Doc and tell him about this- catastrophe and appear of potions.

On the other side, the girl whose name was Ruth also drank the potion, Eugenia was sure, judging by the fact that students she saw around drank it, felt happy, and then fell down in exhaustion and pain. And then was Pamela, who seemed not to have done so. If she took this thing down to the effects, Ruth seemed to be under the influence of something. Before the calming draught, that is.

Ruth seemed to be under the influence of something. Pamela and AngelFyre have also drank it, Simon did you? Aurelia looks sober, I am sober as well. Haven’t touched that thing. Lyanna, did you drink any of the potions? She probably had. Making notes aloud, sounded odd. Well, she had to be useful somehow.

And she would make sure she would be.

Sorry for being so late to post, life got to me in a very odd way. Also, I’m not talking to Doc in the future; this is just some little character development~

A CASE ONLY BADGERS COULD SOLVE

??????????
Lilies and the strong citrus smell of oranges wafted through the air, reminding her of childhood that is long gone. A cold hand gripped her tiny heart, forcing her to experience the nostalgia in all of its entirety. Aurelia shot up from her seat on Clark's hospital cot; the urge to run away almost influenced her to bolt and leave everything behind. Being plagued by these emotions is kind of pestering her whole being; her deep brown eyes appear lost, her mouth slightly agape as though surprised that she was enraptured by the said thoughts. Homesickness. A craving for the usual routine and familiarity, the toxic smell of busy London, and the apple cobblers of her mother. Making a pretence of reaching for the water basin in order to wipe Clark again, in hopes of alleviating the heat he is currently emitting, her nimble fingers shook before clearing her throat.

This is not the time.

In the moment of urgency and uncertainty, accumulating information, no matter how invaluable or little it would be, is incredibly and inevitably important. Even if it is in a sense of betrayal or ratting someone out, Aurelia believes no one is going to be in trouble for exhibiting honesty in these times. If one is enamoured by the potions' promises and is seduced to consume them, then one should report the condition to authorities that are clearly knowledgeable in this category. The one who consumed it is not at fault; the foolish can never be blamed in this case. It is the person who left the potions there in the Hufflepuff Common Room. So when Pamela Graham turned to her with an expression of evident betrayal, the young badger gave her a questioning look in return. What did she do? As far as she is concerned, there is no use lying about it. One should not underestimate the pace of the Wizarding World; the possibility of tracing the consumed potion inside a body is not at all improbable.

Pondering on the description Pamela provided, the experience made Aurelia think that the unlabelled potion is not at all a fraud with its promised effects. The results it bestowed upon the consumer are inevitably effective; the fact that the blonde breezed through Herbology and History of Magic, and she felt amazing riding her broom, had been the proof of it. Aurelia sniffed when the badger described the feeling of the dispersing effects of the potion later on, describing it as painful, which earned a furrowed eyebrow from the young Hufflepuff witch. Painful? How painful, painful to the point some of them consumed it more? That is incredibly sadistic. Her deep brown eyes focused on Clark Baird, her look also questioning him, the expression expectant, as though his catatonic state is all a ruse and he would be able to answer her questions.

Did you crave the pain, or the potion also provided relief?

"Well, I know you would not be able to answer," the raven-haired badger wondered aloud. She wrung the wet cloth once again, submerging it in another batch of water, before wiping his face again and folding it, and lastly, placing it on his forehead. He is as stiff as a board as though he had a stroke, and that is not a good sign. Her vision shifted towards the nurse's office, helpless, imagining it to be kicked open by the nurse herself and helping them. To no avail, of course. They are not lucky like that; up to this very moment, it had been a chain and series of unlucky events that she lost count. She hoped it was all even, as structure, for her, would make a good compensation for all the worse things that eventually happened in sequence. It is a terrible thought... However, she half-heartedly wished she had been foolish enough to drink and overdose herself with these potions just so she would not deal with all this. It's Saturday; they should be resting. Not worrying about life and death situations of other people they are not even acquainted with.

Ruth Fairchild looked particularly disheartened. Who would not be, when everyone around you, even the upperclassmen, accuse you of downing the unlabelled potion although you did not? She stared at the girl sitting opposite of her. With her ever observant eyes, she noticed the guilt and fearful expression on Ruth's face, even in her emerald eyes. They are quite expressive since Aurelia had first met her; this helped her collect a summation of her inner feelings. Of course, Fairchild seemed out of it these days, even after the disaster in her birthday. However, the young badger supposed it as disappointment and self-deprecation after her Broom Racing match last January against Ravenclaws. She understands, of course, as she, too, is a competitive person. The feelings should marinate first in order to feel motivated in the next match, that is why Aurelia did not approach her much.

Of course, everything did not end there. It is only the calm before the storm, as another unfamiliar badger barged in in the Hospital Wing, who appeared particularly disconcerted, dragging a boy—also in catatonic state. As if on cue, everyone became alarmed, taking the information slightly different to each of them. Her mouth is agape, a palm immediately flying on her lips in order to prevent letting out an audible gasp. A fourth badger that is reportedly in a vegetative state. A Badger, a Hufflepuff. No another victim from another house; which confirmed the theory that the poisoning only befalls exclusively on Hufflepuff students. Something twisted her heart as this could be considered assault; the state the four badgers are in are not something to be taken lightly—if someone is caught and is proven to be guilty, surely expulsion is a probable punishment for the responsible.

Whoever it is should rot in wizarding prison for all she cared.

Only noticing that her hands are shaking, Aurelia absent-mindedly plucked an orange blossom nearby and waved it on Clark's nostrils, in hopes that he would be reminded that the world produces different types of oranges and he would not be able to taste them all if he bridged towards the other side. She does not even know if the half-goblin preferred eating oranges. Perhaps, lemons... Does anyone dislike lemons? What a silly thought, she realised, as her deep brown eyes shifted towards AngelFyre and the girl who recently came in, watching them haul the boy up the hospital cot. They are all boys; the pattern did not elude her mind. No offence to anyone at all, of course, but that is something she somehow expected. Boys tend to bite more and more than they could ever chew with their small, little mouths. They are all like dogs chewing a bone off, with their ever-fragile set of teeth, an action they do without ever so much as thinking about it.

Oh, boys.

An evident expression of utter disbelief and disdain is cast towards Simon Kincaid—bless his soul—as soon as he administered Calming Draughts to them all, pushing a phial of it in her hands. Aurelia could not help but feel a slight sense of trepidation and apprehension, watching the dhampir pour all three sets of potions in Clark's mouth; the familiarity with Magical Drafts and Potions made her automatically acknowledge that he administered Antidote of Common Poisons, Antidote of Uncommon Poisons, and Calming Draught on the catatonic patients; the swirl of assorted colours in their respective phials and vials is very much familiar to her, having brewed all of them in one of their Potions classes. The young badger decided right then that she should trust her upperclassmen, brushing away all the awful, awful thoughts that if potions in the Hufflepuff Common Room are all dangerous, then the Hospital Wing must be fixed into the culprits' liking too. The culprit must not have thought that far, supposing that they are a student, not a criminal mastermind.

They are not William James Moriarty, for Helga's sake.

The decision of not downing the Calming Draught is a precautionary measure; let this young, raven-haired badger stress with the details. Pocketing the potion in her jeans, the bluish substance swirling inside the vial as though in protest, she decided it would be necessary for later. Hyperventilation, panic attack, anxiety attack; if she is on the verge of all of them, then she would consume it, most definitely. A clear mind is, of course, tempting, but sometimes being cautious is somewhat rewarded, just like now. She was not fooled into drinking those mysterious potions scattered all over their Common Room—she will not be fooled now. Not that she does not trust Kincaid—let her rephrase that—she is distrustful; she does not trust them at all.

As one of them, in the vicinity, could be a wolf in a sheep's clothing.

Another victim of her utter disdain was chosen, and that is none other than that bespectacled girl, whom she noticed only scribbled the whole time they were there in the Hospital Wing. Her deep brown eyes flashed with irritation, only focused on the said badger. Ruth seemed to be under the influence of something.  Wow, she only supposed it like that just because of the current situation at hand she did not even regard the fact that the girl must only be under the weather, given the situation, of course. Her eyes searched for Ruth, an inquisitive one, hoping to meet hers and all her inquisitions to be answered, as she does not have the energy to snap at someone in particular at the moment. Some part of her subconscious mind must have noticed something strange with Ruth, but her disillusioned perception of her magnanimously brushed aside all the forming theories. She let out an exhausted sigh before focusing on Clark Baird, waving the orange blossom again near his nostrils.

Speech -- Thoughts

The all too familiar smell of lilies filled the room, and as Aurelia returned her reproachful look with a questioning look of her own, Pam shook her head at her, smiling at the memories the sight of the lilies brought back. Those, along with tulips, had been her favorite flowers before she discovered cherry blossoms. Everything about those flowers, from the smell to the reddish-white hue, reminded her of her mother. She had purposely refrained from mentioning her own favorite flower to Angelfyre; too many sensitive memories were associated with it.

And she would start bawling if she thought of her mother in that specific situation. Even the very thought of her mom made her sad.

Focus.

Accepting the potion from Simon, (was it a Calming Drought?) she chugged it down quickly. As Angelfyre went to tend to Joseph, Pam turned to Ruth, lowering her voice as she asked her, "Ruth, how many of those potions did you have?" Later on, she wondered if she should have started with asking her if she had had the potion in the first place. Had she been a bit insensitive? Ruth had seemed a bit off all evening.

Then again, she was about.... 89% sure the girl had definitely had atleast one. She hoped her friend had not had too many. If she ended up in the same situation as the boys....she shivered at the thought.

No, it'll be fine. She's fine.
