Avery nodded at his comment about his dad. She agreed. Avery could barely stand the constant chatter of adults. She didn't know how they could all handle it. "Actually, this is my first real ball that I can remember. My mom is always so busy, so my dad and I never go. We usually go on camping trips or go fishing. My mom kinda forced us to come this time though." Avery laughed lightly.

What about you? Does your dad make you come to these events?" Avery asked. She was curious to know what he thought of the event. She was also curious to get to know him better. She glanced over at where she heard her father laughing. She was surprised to see him so joyful. He seemed so sad on her birthday when her mom was unable to attend, and he had to say goodbye.

Avery quickly threw the thought from her mind. Now was not the time to dwell on the past. Now it was the time to reflect on the present and future. And what would happen between her, Hacue, and Poppy.

She was surprised to see Poppy so quiet. She seemed like a very sweet and bubbly person that anyone would love to get to know. Avery was curious about her story and wondered what family she was from. She was obviously from a famous family since she proudly wore it on her dress.

Poppy was glad to be able to take a moment to gather information before she spoke. It was far safer that way.

Learning the young boy was a Salt brought forth quite a bit of information. The Salt's have lost their former relevance so she had a feeling the young boy was likely here as a way to form an alliance and bring his family back into the spotlight. The way the boy talked about his dad only confirmed her suspicions. Thankfully, he didn't seem to interested in his family, however one could never really tell. Especially his use of mud-blood drew her attention. She figured he must not be to fond on muggles and their more magical children even if he tried to seem somewhat impartial.

As for Avery, she seemed to be form a pureblood family that didn't care for formalities. Her family probably was only here to show some face while it was a good time for them to. She was slightly unsure of this though, and Avery did seem to be asking regular questions. Maybe she was just genuinely trying to get to know the Griffindor boy and her?

"My name is Poppy, Poppy Lytle. I go to these regularly," she said with a bright smile. "My parents are over there," she gestured to where her parents where her parents where once more for the new arrival.

As Hacue is nodding listening to his fellow Gryffindor ask him questions “Well, normally he just brought my brothers but ever since I got my letter has been more proactive on me meeting other pure-bloods.” As Avery's eyes shifted to the other side of the room at an older man loudly laughing “I take it you know him?" Hacue asked.

Suddenly The other girl in the green dress with silver spoke nearly catching Hacue by surprise. “oh, Hello Poppy I was starting to think someone did some kind of Silencing Charm on you.” He said jokingly. As Hacue thought for a second he couldn’t place the accent that poppy had which was odd because his family has moved and traveled for what seemed like his whole life. “Poppy, you’re not from here, are you?” asked Hacue.

He took a long drink of his pomegranate pumpkin Juice nearly finishing the glass before looking over at his father still having what seemed like the same conversation. Almost as soon as he looks at his father Charles looked back noticing his lack of presence gave him a subtle nod and walked away with a group of other adults “now where are they off to?” thought Hacue. As he takes a moment he decides “that’s not really my problem right now” looks back at the two girls to continue their conversation.

"Yeah. He's my dad. We don't come to very many of these events since my mom is so busy. She works for the Department of Mysteries, so I really don't see her much anymore. She's the one that forced us to come tonight." Avery responded to Hacue.

Avery was also surprised when Poppy began talking. She had been so quiet as Hacue and her were talking that she didn't;t realize the girl was still listening. As she listened to Poppy talk, she began to recognize her accent.

"Your accent sounds familiar. Are you from the actual Lytle line?" Avery asked. If Poppy was actually part of that line, that would be interesting. Avery hadn't really met any other Purebloods her age until she came to Hogwarts. She was curious though to meet other people. Even if they weren't Purebloods.

She glanced back at her father when she heard her name. He must have been telling them a story about when she was little because that seemed to be his favorite thing to do. Especially when his old friends are around.

She though it was sweet. Especially when he was finally hanging out with his friends again instead of swamping himself in work. It meant that he might finally change back to the way he used to be.

She gave a small laugh at the comment about a silencing charm being placed upon her. Oh how she wished she could excuse her too long of a silence by that. “I think it would be a little more obvious if someone had decided to place a charm on me”

Poppy didn’t get comments of her accent too much. She stopped getting to visit her Canadian half of her family around the time when her first sign of magic was probably going to happen. Her parents wanted nothing but to guarantee her a spot at Hogwarts. She did get to start visiting them again once she got her acceptance letter, which might’ve resharped her slight Canadian accent to the point where a keen ear could pick up on it. “Partly raised in Canada, but I was born in Wales, and it is my main home. My mom works for the ministry of magic, she’s an auror.” Her mom usually joked how if she didn’t show face at one of these events for too long people would assumed she died in service.

She took a moment to process the question form the griffindor girl. “Yes, I am truely from the Lytle line.” She was wearing the crest on the sleeve of her dress, so she was surprised the other girl didn’t recognize it if she knew of the name.

As Hacue turned to poppy thinking he was clever with his joke about the silencing charm he responded with a smirking grin. “oh, really now? Mabey we will get to see one day.” Hacue listened as poppy responded to the questions about her nationally and family thinking to himself “man, I wish I paid attention to when my father ranted about these things.

Listening to the two girls he began thinking “it seems my father was right about one thing; everyone seems to work for the ministry around here.” Starting to realize what his father was meaning about being on his best behavior and first impressions he sat down his glass of pomegranate pumpkin, Juice straightened his tie and ran his fingers through his hair to ensure that it remained neat, or at least as neat as he could.

He turned to his attention to Avery “you and your dad seem close but if you don’t mind me asking what does your mother do again, I remember you saying she was constantly busy.” He is hoping not to cross any boundaries and tries to remember the topics he and his father have talked about with it comes to status symbols.

Avery cringed slightly at Hacue's comment about her mom. She hoped it wasn't obvious since it was slightly awkward to talk about. "She works for the Department of Mysteries, and she is always busy. I haven't seen her since before I left for Hogwarts."

Avery thought back to the times she could remember about spending time with her mom when they lived in Wales. She missed it since it was her home. She wished someday she could go back. If only for a short time. Just to see it again.

When Avery heard Poppy's comment about living and growing up in Wales, she got excited. "You live in Wales? What city? I grew up in Swansea before my family had to move because of my mom's work. I miss it so much!"

Avery was enjoying their conversation. It was the first time in a while that she got to talk to a group of people that were like her. She was so used to being stuck with muggles, and worrying about giving away her identity that she forgot how fun it was to talk about magic.

Avery glanced at Hacue and Poppy thinking about how much they were already learning about each other in such a short time they had already spent together. Avery hoped that when they all got to Hogwarts they would continue to be friendly towards each other, and not act as total strangers. She really enjoyed hanging out with them.

Poppy almost got visibly overly excited about hearing someone was from her home town. Thankfully she was able to keep it all in and not make a fool out of herself here. Extreme emotions, at least she found, got looked down upon. She addressed Hacue’s comment about every working for the ministry first, so she wouldn’t seem like she was simply jumping to whatever she wanted to talk about.

“It is common for well established wizarding families to work for the ministry. There’s a good amount of respectable jobs there. The department of mysteries does quite important work.” It also helped that the networking opportunities allowed for ins with higher ups within the government. Poppy had heard what she considered horror stories about some purebreds getting away with the abuse of house elves, among other things.

“I live in Swansea, my mom handled the larger domestic cases of Wales when I was younger.” Now she was handling even larger cases, including the Hogesmade incident from when the international students arrived back in October. She wished her mom would just tell her something about their leads, but all she gave instead of comforting phrases like: the ministry is taking care of it, or: I promise you’ll be safe in the castle. If anything the avoidance only made her feel worse about the situation.

Listening to both poppy and Avery he took a moment as to best understand Averys situation he imagined how important that her mom is to her. “I’m sure whatever must be keeping her away from you must be of grave importance. Once she saves the world from an evil cult, she will be walking you into the next ball.” Hacue said with a smile.

At that moment Charles and his friends return to the ballroom with a somewhat serious face. “I wonder who spilled their butterbeer” he thought to himself. At this moment Charles looked over at Hacue and with two fingers motioned him to come over. “Well ladies, it looks like my fun is done. I’m sure ill see you two at Hogwarts please feel free to stop me anytime possibly at the library?” He said reluctantly. Hacue picked up his nearly empty glass, placed it with some other dirty dishes, and returned to his father. “I take it you had fun,” said Charles. “Looks like more fun than you” replied Hacue. Charles didn’t seem too impressed with His sons reply. Hacue took one last look at the girls, did a slight wave and exited out the front door.

XXXEonaria hurried after her brother, who was practically freaking out about being late. She had never seen him lose his composure over something like this. The Kabukimono family arrived at the lavish hotel a little more than fashionably late, but it was much better than missing it all together. As Eonaria approached the grand double doors to the opulent ballroom, she was surprised to see a few people leaving already. She was fairly sure she recognized one of them as a Gryffindor, though she didn't know him. Beside her, Eonaria's brother had already regained his composed mask of elegant indifference as he slipped easily into the background to start a conversation with his, er.. acquaintances? She felt like 'friends' was a bit much.

XXXHer parents begun conversing with a few of the other families as she looked around, leaving Eonaria by herself. Just then, she spotted a familiar face with a rush of relief: Poppy Lytle, a Ravenclaw first year she had met a little less than a week ago in the Owlery. The encounter had been a bit strange, but now they were meeting again. Poppy seemed to be having an enthusiastic conversation with another first year Gryffindor. Eonaria had seen her around a few times... Avery Gray, wasn't it? She approached them with a smile. "Hello, there. It's good to see people I recognize. Mind if I join in on the conversation?"
