Emma tightened her grip on her wand, preparing to send her spell flying. It seemed almost a relief when she cast it. However the relief was short lived when the same spell she had just cast was cast at her. Jumping slightly, she cringed at the noise.
And then to make things even worse, Emma heard Jessamine yell, and she looked over to see her partners both knocked out. Eyes widening, she knew she was likely in trouble but she wanted to at least try to keep going.

The removal of two duellists from the piste seemingly caused a shift in the air as those left standing underwent a reset of their plans and abilities. Regrouping was always a helpful tactic when things became too chaotic, but sometimes it resulted in the most boring of rounds. Jessamine had to restrain herself from booing in an effort to not appear unsportsmanlike, though she may have been too far gone at that point.
As the last duellist left on the Hufflepuff team, Emma didn’t change up her playbook. It was the best she could do at the moment as those devilish wizard crackers fell in a radius wide enough to capture three opponents. So the badger gambled and pleasantly, she came out on top. This time, her wand shifted its aim to Hanako and the crackers dropped right in front of his feet. As hard has he would try to jump away from them, Emma’s precision was simply too perfect. The same could be said for Ara and Mahlioz who were not able to avoid the side effects of the crackers either.
Expectedly, all three snakes sent something Emma’s way. Switching up their foolproof plan, Ara matched with Hanako this time. The sixth year snake showed his prowess while still producing more mucus than Jessamine ever needed to see. Emma had no chance of avoiding his Knockback Jinx, but she easily dodged Ara’s. Perhaps the badger already knew that twin jinxes were coming her way. The snakes didn’t showcase much diversity with their spells after all, but then again, neither did Emma. Mahlioz, in an effort to shake things up, spoke the incantation Obscuro. However, Emma would dodge that as well.
Keeping her commentary to a minimum for this round, the only thing that left Jessamine’s lips was a yawn.

If Mahlioz had been overwhelmed last round, this one was a lot easier to understand. What happened? Not much. Four people shot their spells and only two landed. Unfortunately, the remaining Hufflepuff was rather good at dodging, and Mahlioz's obscuro did nothing to stop her. Villa didn't seem to be having any more luck, though Tone's flipendo was a square hit. Of course it was, he had more experience.
Same with Wynn, the Hufflepuff, whose crackers spell (they really seemed to like that one, huh) hurt all three Slytherins. Mahlioz cursed under her breath but tried not to get distracted. There was always a chance this 3v1 could turn around completely and destroy them. She needed to keep her head in the game.

Well…it seemed the lone hufflepuff didn’t know when to quit. It’s her lost. If she misses the hospital wing that much so be it. He felt the curse really starting to get to him, his vision slightly blurry, feeling his body ache and tense. This does not help the grandpa allegations. Yet, it was his spell was able to hit, before they were hit with another wave of crackers jinx. That was her best bet at beating 3 slytherins after all. A little pathetic, but not as pathetic as his teammates. Which was conveyed enough by the side eye he gave both of them. “ Making me do all the heavy work?”

November 10, 2024 (21:46 pm)She sighed as her and Evethisawe's spells both missed the lone badger. Though as expected, the spells of the older two (grandpa and wynn) both hit. The oldest of the 3 Slytherins then spoke, side-eyeing as he did so. Ara sighed yet again, "Sorry about the missed spell but she's a year older than us so of course she's better at this than us." she was too occupied thinking of another strategy to come up with an insult.RP Word Count: 78/50

Emma really was not looking forward to being the sole duellist left standing for the Hufflepuff Team. And yes, she felt bad for her fellow teammates, but also now she would be the sole target. And that was never a comfortable place to me. She had little hope that she would last more than one round.
So she was pleasantly surprised when she was still standing, though sore, and a little breathless from Hanako’s Flipendo. She managed to dodge the other spells, and still land her own. It was something at least.

Mahlioz, appointed the sole damage-dealer of the snakes for this round, aimed her fool-proof Knockback Jinx at the badger, striking Emma on the shoulder. In retaliation, Emma would do what she did best and conjured another set of those annoying crackers. The snakes were more prepared this time. Mahlioz stepped out of the radius with ease and Ara shielded herself quite well despite being close to the drop point. Hanako, however, did find himself taking the brunt of the damage again as the crackers stung his skin.
“Need to work on those reflexes, Gramps!”
Seemingly desperate to incapacitate the lone Hufflepuff, Hanako and Ara both took it upon themselves to sacrifice damage in favor of a good ol’ blindfold. As evidenced by the previous round, things tended to not line up when Ara went twinsies with the sixth year snake. Her aim wasn’t off by much, but Emma moved her head out of the way. Fortunately for the snakes, her face swung straight into the pathway of their precise contingency plan. The badger would suddenly lose her vision as a dark cloth was conjured over her eyes, tied loosely to the back of her head.

Slytherin vs Hufflepuff: Match 4

At Ara’s response to his snark, he let out a sigh, scratching the back of his neck slightly at her unexpected response. “ Please. You’ve been in dueling as long as I have and you’ll know a year difference doesn’t always make sense”. There was his usual haughtiness to his tone that he had been using since the duel started. Accompanied by the raspiness from the curse affecting him. But if Ara hadn’t been that tired, perhaps she could sense just a tid bit of unusual softness.
She was getting tired, Hanako understood that enough. He was sick, he wasn’t blind. She looked far worse than anyone else on the piste. And from one snarky person to another, he knew it was serious when they don’t have the mood to jest back. Hell, he sort of missed her fiery response. Not that he would ever admit it. His earlier comment may look harsh initially. It doesn’t have to only apply to her failed aims. He hoped at least that it would remind her of the spells that she actually managed to hit. Even against the Hufflepuffs, who (In his experience), tended to be fast on their feet. Hell, he knew he must’ve had worse aim than she did when he started. But will he tell her that? No. She could sulk and whine about being younger for all he cared.
Which led to the quick decision to change tactics last minute to use the blindfolding spell instead. He had been using dmg spells throughout the whole duel. This time he didn’t even snark at her for missing again. Instead letting out an annoyed groan, “ Finally-”, a sigh of relief following it. In the end it should be a silent rule that it didn’t matter who hit or missed. They were (as embarrassing as it was) a team. He didn’t say it to any of the brats. But he had their backs. Even if they disrespected him and called him grandpa. He could brag about it after the curse left his body.
He did however manage to let out a dry laugh at the moderator's joke. “ How about focusing on the fact I’m still standing and casting even with my weaknesses and debuffs against me, huh kid?” He somehow managed to cough out with an attempt at a smile. But gosh- this curse was really getting to him.

Emma gasped as the Flipendo hit her shoulder, moving backward slightly from the action. Cringing at the soreness, she rushed to get off her cracker jinx. It seemed the best option to at least attempt to damage all 3 since she was the only one standing for the Hufflepuff team. Sadly, it only hit Hanako, but still, even if she could manage to take even one of their duellists out, she would be happy.
Seeing the blindfold coming at her, Emma moved her head slightly, grinning at the miss, only to be surprised when the world went dark. Groaning internally, she gripped her wand tightly. With her vision lost, she didn't also want to lose her wand.

Finally, a hit spell! And a good old Flipendo, too. Mahlioz had to say she was rather proud of that one. Though of course it was ever so slightly bittersweet, because poor Wynn was stuck in a 3v1. It almost felt unfair. Then again, she'd had the chance to surrender, hadn't she? They could admire her determination. And her very nice cracker spells.
Tone and Villa seemed to like Mahlioz's idea from last round, and both sent an Obscuro Wynn's way. Villa's missed, but Tone's hit, so all was fine. Though he wasn't looking so good - he was rather sickly from that spell at the beginning, and having a hard time dodging Wynn's crackers. As Hemlock, the moderator, was keen to point out, sensing another opportunity to call him a grandfather.
Poor guy. "Nice hit. You going to be alright?" Mahlioz asked. It was enough being all sickly and taking the brunt of most spells, insulting him felt cruel to them.
