Slytherin vs Ravenclaw - Fall 2024
SPECTATOR THREAD FOR QUIDDITCH
SLYTHERIN vs RAVENCLAW - FALL 2024
Date: October 12th 2024
Time: 10:30 am
Weather: Grey skies with rain
The stereotypical grey miserable weather had been non-stop for the last few days, and unfortunately, on the Saturday morning, it showed no signs of slowing down. The sky was thick with grey clouds, and the rain only seemed to be getting heavier - there had even been rumours of a storm. Both teams, complete with new rosters, would have to brave the less than ideal conditions alongside their supporting fans, who had braved the weather with them, ready for the first game of the new season.
Dressed in a waterproof poncho, the announcer would clear their throat before speaking. "Attention, and welcome back! Are you guys ready for this new quidditch season?"
A loud roar of cheers would answer their question.
"Wonderful! Now, let's welcome the teams: Slytherin and Ravenclaw!"
Both teams would emerge, welcomed by the almost deafening applause and the sight of emerald and silver and navy and bronze. As the announcer introduced each player, the teams would huddle together and prepare, no doubt having to adjust to the torrential rain that may have disrupted their original strategy.
A loud cough would catch everyone's attention, quietening the crowd. "If everybody's ready... we can let the first game of the season commence!"
This is a spectator thread for the Quidditch Game. 200 words is still the requirement for all threads. Please remember that you are not able to interface with the players on the pitch from a spectator thread.

Slytherin vs Ravenclaw - Fall 2024
The first match of the season was supposed to be exciting, and yet with this dreadful weather– all Iris could think about was how uncomfortable she was. Seated quietly amongst the stands, her arms crossed tightly as she tried – and failed – to stay dry. Glancing down toward the scarf fastened loosely around her neck, a frown swept across. It seemed like a good idea when she’d left her commons, something to show a bit of house pride— now not so much. The wool was getting soggy, and the cold rain had already managed to seep through. Her nose wrinkled, yet the Ravenclaw made no move to take it off.
Instead, dark eyes flicked downward, the sound of cheers emerging as respective teams took to the pitch. Familiar faces stood out— some more than others, but all vaguely discernible through the mist of rain. Attending school wide events wasn't something Iris did often, if at all her during previous years, but something had changed. Maybe the desire to branch out, maybe just the thrill of the game. Likely the latter, sports were a hell of a watch.
A gust of wind blew through the stands and Iris shivered, pulling her cloak tighter in response. The game would soon begin, and despite the downpour— despite her now thoroughly wet ensemble— she still couldn’t wait to watch.INTERACTIONS: Open.

Aria stopped to take her poncho out of her backpack. She was quite annoyed that it happened to be a rainy day on the day of her first Hogwarts Quidditch match. While Aria wasn't on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, and barely knew how quidditch worked, she was still excited to go to the quidditch stadium and support her fellow eagles.
As soon as Aria stepped outside of the castle, she heard a patter of rain drops on her head. She followed the crowd of students to the quidditch stadium. It was such a gloomy day, but there was a buzz of excitement in the air anyways. Today Ravenclaw would be playing Slytherin. While Aria had met some very nice Slytherins at her time at Hogwarts, she still knew the fact that most dark wizards come from Slytherin, and she hopes that Ravenclaw beats those snakes!
Once Aria reached the stadium, she made her way through the seats and up the stairs in the Ravenclaw section until she found another girl sitting by herself.
Hello! My name is Aria Wright. Are you excited for the Quidditch match? Could I sit here?
Aria looked around at all the Hogwarts students and smiled. It was her first Hogwarts Quidditch match. Her little brother would be so jealous!✧

There was only one word for this weather: dreich. But there was no way that was stopping Maisie from heading out today for her very first Quidditch game here at Hogwarts. Tales of the game ran through the school's halls and even before that stories from her mother's side of the family were often retold at meals or during shopping trips.
When Maisie arrived on the pitch, under a lavender raincoat she'd brought from home, it seemed like things were already shaping up. But she'd come alone. Pulling her Ravenclaw scarf tighter around her neck, Maisie scanned the crowd until she spotted another Ravenclaw scarf.
There were two girls who looked about her age and, if the scarf was any indication, they were all on the same team. Walking up to them, she overheard one introduce herself and ask if the seat was free. Seemed as good a time as any to join in. "Hi, I'm Maisie. We must have passed each other in the common room at some point." That is, a point when she wasn't off exploring the castle, or reading, or dreaming up dresses.
"I brought some chocolates," she said, holding out a couple of small wrapped chocolates as a way of negotiating the chance to sit with them. Besides, it would a long match, probably, and they'd get hungry. The rain, chocolate, magical sport—it all seemed like some romantic fantasy.
Maisie took a seat near them as the announcer's voice boomed. She squinted as the players few out and the rain pelted their uniforms. "Is there anyone we should be watching for? Any plays we do really well?" She might not know exactly what a good play was in Quidditch, but she was here to learn.

Today was a very big day. Not for Cass specifically, but for the whole house in general. Quidditch season was finally upon them! The second year didn't play (on a house team at least), but that didn't mean that they couldn't be out in the stands screaming and cheering for their team. And probably the other team as well. Just cheering in general was great. Even the terrible weather didn't put them off. They hadn't exactly come prepared for it, but that was fine. It was still going to be awesome! Not being the artistic type, Cass hadn't managed to get a massive banner made for their team. They got bored halfway through, and ran off to fly around on their broomstick. That didn't matter though. They would just have to cheer extra loud!
About twenty minutes before the match even started, Cass had turned up in the stands to claim a good seat. The ones down by the front were fine, but the real place to be was up at the back. Quidditch didn't take place on the ground after all. Shifting around on the hard bench, they couldn't wait for the game to start. The rain was no dampener on their enthusiasm. When the first members of team Slytherin came out onto the pitch, they threw their hands into the air and gave an extremely loud cheer. There was that boy @Avery Chen from the midnight game of Creaothceann, who apparently played quidditch as well. That was awesome! There was also that girl from the train @ophelia northwell although she was on the opposite team. That didn't matter though! They cheered her name all the same.
Hopefully she would do well, but not too well. Slytherin still had to win the game after all. Next to catch their eye was the absolutely awesome Koko @Koko riddle, who they remembered from that one duel that they had moderated once. And the time she had given them a detention, but they had forgotten all about that by now. She definitely deserved a cheer. Slytherin had an awesome team who were going to secure victory in one of the very first sporting games of the season! Or at least show ravenclaw just how close they could come to it.

The day for quid match had arrived, Prat had no part in it but he could not help be anymore excited for this event. Flying on broom was a fun event for him, adding to which the beating and everything made the game much closer to him. He hadn't been an audience for the sport until a few years ago but now that he had dipped his toes in. Prat was in for the full dive. Previously he had not indulged in such actions but now collecting jerseys had become an event Prat could see himself doing as he grew through his years.
Today however wasn't the day for a franchise game, but merely a snek game, Prat knew he had to show up, several of his acquaintances or perhaps friends were going to be playing for the snake team. He also felt the need to rep his house adorned in a dark green shirt, Along was supposed to come Ernest Baird, the duelling foe turned friend who's company Prat had come to enjoy.
Knowing he'd need to get a good seat with how his eyesight made it a task for him to always carry his glasses, Prat got their earlier than he would usually attend such games. Finding himself a seat among the stand towards the back of the stand offered Prat a greater fov along with no one in his ear to cry for when he would stand up in excitement. This had always been an annoying moment for him when someone would tell him to sit down or not block their vision. It wasn't his fault they did not grow. Atleast in the muggle world fans would not bother him during football games, that game too was similar to quidditch except them muggles have no flying brooms. Nor that they'd possess the ability to use them if handed one.
Their sport was nonetheless fun to watch, the moments were hype and the adrenaline rush that a goal brought to Prat was exhilarating, the taunts, the moves, their skill with that football, that was perhaps one of the few things Prat missed in the wizarding world from the muggles. Perhaps he'd bring a football to the castle next year. Get his aunt to bring him one, would certainly make a fun game for them.
All this time during his mental journey as he dived into his own mind, rain did not let up. With the lack of an umbrella Prat had resorted to using Pluvia Velo. It served it's purpose and that's all that mattered to him. Now only waiting for Ernest remained, the goblin boy was supposed to bring a banner they would use to cheer on Elisa during their match. Prat even brought one of his own build to cheer for the Annoying Quid Player he had met during his first year at the school.

| xxx | 𝒮chool never quite felt like it had properly begun until the first set of sports games had arrived. Unfortunately, this occasion would see them arrive on a dreary Saturday morning that continued with the previous days' trends: grey and raining. While Evelynn usually went without, she donned her wide-brimmed witch's hat to protect her from the worst of it, and took the time to charm her clothing to repel water. It wouldn't do much to protect her from the chilling bite of the wind, but at least she wouldn't have to spend the entire game holding up an umbrella and could more easily make use of her omnioculars to follow the game. Having found herself a decent enough seat, she took her time to take stock of the various players on the field, sights lingering on @Aly Slinger with a hollow tug at the pit of her belly. Lips quirked solemnly, grief straddling the line of melancholy and acceptance. The Eagle had been avoiding Evelynn since the start of school, much like Connor, and there was no indication that the trend was likely to change any time soon. Nor had any amount of reflection and introspection revealed any reasonable explanation as to why this had been the case at all. Short of confronting her directly, which would obviously go against Aly's preferences, there was nothing Evleynn could do about it. Still, she could wish her well for the match, however unheard the sentiment might go. Besides, there were others for whom she had also come to spectate. Both @Rebecca Lark and @Winnie Harper were appearing well as far as Evelynn could tell from the narrow view of the omnioculars. And certainly that would become all the more apparent when the game picked up and Winnie managed to score a pair of goals for their team to take Ravenclaw to a lead of 50 to 0 against the snakes. That would draw a smile from the lioness, though one that was a bit short-lived and bittersweet. Much like Aly, the younger ginger had begun to give Evelynn space shortly after her birthday had passed. Without a common schedule or shared classes, it wasn't as readily apparent as it had been with Aly, but there had been a notable lack of Winnie's presence during meal-times, and she seemed to have mastered the ways of the elusive fox. The concern that had begun to rise ebbed slightly seeing her well and whole for the match. There were even a few familiar faces on the Slytherin team. @Ulysses Drake had been among those who had stumbled upon the gathering in the clearing at the edge of the forest the year prior. Evelynn recalled that his attitude at the time had suggested himself to be one who struggled with a number of inner demons. O.W.L. preparation and the general chaos of end of term had prevented her from following up on it before the school year had concluded, but perhaps it wouldn't be too late to extend a line and ensure he wasn't one of those students that had stumbled into trouble for which he wasn't prepared and was trying to shoulder the entirety of its burden alone. It wouldn't be the first time. @Remedy Norden was also another one that Evelynn had recognized, although it had taken her a moment to recall why. Memory came crashing shortly after, like the crashing of underbrush when the girl had taken a tumble down a small hill in the Forbidden Forest. Evelynn hadn't seen her in there since, though the lioness was not so naive to believe that meant the girl had steered clear even after being reduced to tears and begging to spare her life. Perhaps she was another one the sixth-year could use to check in on.. With a sigh, Evelynn lowered the omnioculars to allow herself to return to a larger picture view of the Quidditch stadium as the game continued to progress. Eyes mirroring the ominous weather flicked over to a number of nearby students as one offered chocolate to the others, although it was the following question that drew her attention. "Blatching," she answered plainly to @Maisie Gemmell while turning her attention back to the game. "And a play to take ou—" She hadn't even finished making the statement when thought became reality and both of Ravenclaw's first string beaters were knocked unconscious to fall from their brooms in quick succession. "Yes, see there?" she inquired, gesturing towards the figures that had been slowed to drift safely to the ground. Speaking loud enough so the girl and her companions (@Area Wright & @Iris Athanasiuo) and anyone else nearby could hear, the ex-Gryffindor Quidditch captain explained, "A team can gain the upper hand by incapacitating their opponent's ability to deliver offensive bludger action. It may look like Ravenclaw is dominating the game, after all, they are up 50 to 0. However, they are now at a severe disadvantage as they are down to their last beater. I expect Slytherin to make up some distance very swiftly in the next few moments. You will also want to keep one eye on Slytherin's seeker, @Dan Palmer. While both he and Ravenclaw's seeker, Aly Salinger, are both very capable flyers, he has been a seeker since he started playing in his second or third year. Salinger is newer to the position, and with the weather as it is, she is likely going to struggle." |

Slytherin vs Ravenclaw - Fall 2024
This was not going well. In fact, it was going extremely poorly: nearly the entire Ravenclaw team very quickly was knocked off their broom. Maisie nearly dropped her chocolate bar by the third or fourth time it had happened.
Swallowing, she looked up at the older girl (@Evelynn Decipio) who'd nearly prophesied the whole thing. The redhead explained very articulately that despite what was on the scoreboard, it was certainly not a team Ravenclaw advantage.
And then, that not-advantage got swiftly swept away. They were even, technically. But not at all.
And if everything the redhead was saying was true—and it certainly seemed like it was—then even the snitch seemed far fetched. The girl called Salinger seemed capable from the few minutes Maisie had been out here, but the experience—six or seven years at school?—of the Slytherin seeker would be hard to match for anyone. Maisie looked over at her two companions, @Aria Wright and @Iris Athanasiuo, for some kind of confirmation that all this prediction was right. Had all hope been lost?
Maisie looked up at the redhead again and called, out to her, "Say you're right. What can we do?" Nothing from down here in the stands, under the cover of rainfall. But up there, there had to be something they could do. Maisie wanted to do the mental math and come up with a plan, but she had too little understanding to do so. But this girl seemed to know what she was talking about.
Maisie's eyes darted upwards. Come on, come on, she thought, you can still do something.
Interacting with @Evelynn Decipio.
