	About time, Daniel huffed as the baton finally passed right to him. He tried to give Colby a smile, some sort of appreciation that they'd done a fantastic job at the paddle board, but he was too consumed by their ranking. They'd been doing so well until recently, leading the game. Now they were dead last. Just how many events were in this thing, again? Eight? That meant they were just over half-way. It was still enough time for their team to recover, of course, but Daniel wasn't feeling particularly optimistic at this point. Daniel had to throw water balloons at a piñata, which didn't seem that difficult when faced with it. He thought of himself as a good shot, being a former basketball player and currently a Quidditch player. You can't do much in those sports if you didn't have the aim, obviously. His aim at the Quidditch match against Mahoutokoro three days ago had been solid, grabbing most of the quaffles and scoring a few fouls without getting caught. (He got caught in the final round trying to stop Miharu from catching the snitch, but that wasn't the point. He'd managed to knock her off course once and that was all anyone ever needed to know.)

Waiting was not something Zophyr particularly enjoyed. Sure, it meant you could have time to watch people, observe and take notes on the world around you, which was always a plus. But when the waiting took place at a water race, where the spectators were a little far to be observed, and anyway Zophyr needed to be paying attention so they would know when it was their turn, well... it was rather boring.

It was a peculiar idea, this water race. First, Zophyr had gotten to camp thinking it would be summery and hot, with need of hydration. Then, when they'd gotten here, they'd realized it was in fact wintery and cold, and they were not expecting any similar activities to normal summer fun. Such as, for example, water races, with boogie boards and splashing and everything. It was weird bringing a summer thing into a winter-themed summer camp. It made them confused just trying to make sense of it.

Anyway, their waiting had paid off now, because it was finally their turn. And boy, were they excited. The only reason they had accepted to be here, really, was for the piñata. When their tentmates had brought up the whole water race idea, of doing it all together, it had sounded great until they'd realized how much waiting was involved. But they'd wait any amount of time if it meant smashing something to bits, with water balloons no less. They were literally a beater, this was what they did best!

Whether they'd manage to pull it off better than the other teams and make their own proud was yet to be seen. But even if they didn't, they would certainly have fun trying.

"We are now officially halfway through the race! With only a few events left, teams better be ready to commit to winning!"

"Daniel Tienzo, a Castelobruxo student, is racing for Team One! He's been able to secure his team third place, a big difference from where they were last round back in last place! Team One has been holding strong in this game, but do they have what it takes to make it to the end?" Third place was a good spot in this game. Easy to get a lead, but also just as easy to fall back. Team One had been sort of a quiet competitor in the game, but they were definitely in the game.

"Once again, Lemmy LaRue is out here for Team Two! No need to be alarmed, his team's just got one less person! Lemmy's keeping his team in the same spot he had them in last round, tied for second place! And he is not that far from first place; he might be able to catch Team Five!" The incoming first year had really proved his worth to his team with where he got them in the race. They'd have to see if they could hold onto that spot, though.

Peter Smith is racing for Team Three! Unfortunately for them, they've fallen quite far back from where they were last round. They've still got the chance to get ahead though! This game is far from over!"

Team Four is represented by Prat Pass for this round! He's back in fourth place for them, not far ahead of Peter! He'd better get his head in the game if he wants his team to win!"

"There goes Zophyr Qethnis for Team Five! They're sitting pretty in first place, a real difference from where their team was in the early events! Their team better try to hold onto that spot!" Zophyr wasn't that far ahead of the second place teams, but they still had a lead at that moment. They certainly were in it to win it.

"Violeta Roux for Team Six is tied for second place with Team Two! Slight gain from where they were last round, and a great place to be if her team wants to make a move for first! She's not that far behind Zophyr, she might be able to take the lead!"

"Looks like it'll be Zophyr to the end first, followed by Lemmy and Violeta, then Daniel, Prat, and Peter!"

The race had been very interesting so far, Mylo's team had been moving all around the leader board along with others, so they were never sure where they would end up after a round. Although Mylo was enjoying seeing everyone do their tasks, some doing very well, others unfortunately not so much.

As they waited for the person who was running at the moment, Mylo believed his name was Peter but he wasn't sure on that fact, he started thinking about the tactic they'd use. They could go about it in many different ways, some more practical than others but all options would have to be thought through in the little amount of time he had before Peter would come over to them and high five them, signalling that it would be Mylo's turn to start their part of the course. It was starting to get a bit nerve wracking, so Mylo started consciously breathing trying to make sure that he would be able to get going the second Peter's hand touched theirs.

And part of that was once again going over their strategy, making sure that he knew exactly what he'd do and when. Mylo had an okay accuracy, they knew it wasn't perfect but it was pretty decent. So thinking about that they tried to keep themselves calm. And once it was their turn, they would try and do their absolute best to get their team to the first place

Greta had hardly been able to sit still throughout the duration of the race thus far. Even though most of her teammates--or perhaps because most of her teammates--appeared to be quite a bit younger than her, the energy of the race infected and incited her competitive spirit. She had cheered as her team took an early position near the lead, and booed ferociously as other teams began to catch up and overtake them. So as not to dismay her teammates, though, she had shouted words of encouragement, trying to inspire their efforts to invest 187% into their respective activities, though every minute wishing she could have her moment, certain that she'd be able to help her team regain some of the distance.

Finally, it was her turn. Yipping as Daniel's hand slapped firmly against her own, she bolted from her position on the sidelines to take position at the next station. Rings. Simple enough. Although the water balloons probably would have been the easiest for her given the similarities with throwing a quaffle through a hoop, this could be all that much different. It all came down to mastery of the toss and balancing speed and force to get it just right. Brows knit with determination, she used the swell of adrenaline and pressure to carry her forward. There was no time to worry about where the other competitors were at, or how they were doing. All of her focus had to be funneled into completing this one task.

With the race tumbling by much faster than Sage expected it to, she tried to grab onto every moment that passed.

"Greta Fransson of Team One might be breaking some sort of water race record, because she's flying through this event! The other teams are going to have to hope for a miracle to catch up with her!" Greta was far out in front of everyone else. For a team that had never been in first place they certainly had a good hold on their lead.

"Dorion Anderson for Team Two has tied their team once again! Now in fourth place, Dorion is pulling their weight with Team Three, who they're tied with! They aren't far behind the other teams- they might be able to catch them!"

"Team Three is represented by Mylo Atkins. They're tied with Dorion, and holding strong! They've gotten themselves in a good spot to make a move forward!" Mylo had the chance to move forward, they'd have to wait and see if he'd take it.

"Team Four has Aston Beckett. He's in third place, not far ahead of teams two and three tied in fourth! He'll have to do his best to stay ahead of them!"

"We've got some strong competitors in this game, and Yasha Volkov is one of them! The Team Five racer is in second place, the closest to catching Greta!" With only a few events left, Team Five, who had been doing very well in the game, were having limited options to get themselves ahead.

"Amberley Morvay is out here for Team Six! They've dropped back in the race majorly. They better hope their next racers can regain their former spots!"

"Greta Fransson is to the finish first, followed by Yasha, Aston, Mylo and Dorion, and Amberley!"

Alliasta was waiting excitedly. Participating in water races was definitely a perfect activity for her. It was exciting to be with people and compete. The camp was already fun and participating in this race was even more perfect. She met her teammates, they were all great and nice. She cheered and applauded them. Overall actually being in the 7th round was boring because it was always hard to wait. Especially when Alliasta is too hyperactive. Waiting was something that had no end for her.

In the end, Mylo finished and came in fourth place along with one of the other teams. After high-fived Alliasta immediately took the fishing rod from her station and started fishing. Fishing was to be done on this tour. Alliasta loves fish, both delicious and ornamental fish are comforting in aquariums.

This shouldn't be difficult right? Maybe, she hadn't done this before, maybe once or so, but it must have happened when she was very young. I wish she had tried to fish in the lake on family outings instead of running away to the forest with her favorite cousin from the lakeside. Maybe if she got the experience it would affect something, but she would still try and do her best.

A relay race. Stephen was not exactly sure what he had envisioned when he heard water race, but this definitely looked intriguing. How he managed to end up being the Gorton’s Fisherman on his team when he could have unleashed his astonishing “Whack-A-Mole” skills on a piñata begging to be whacked was anyone’s guess. He knew he was happily up for the challenge and would give this his best shot, secretly hoping no finned friends would be harmed in the process. It had also crossed his mind to hope that if any worms were to be used, they’d be of the gummy variety. If he totally blew this for his team, at least he’d have those to help quell his non-existent guilt over a poor showing. Gummy worms made almost anything better. That was just a fact.

He had watched with quite a bit of interest as Miles slogged through his part of the race, hauling buckets of water. That looked more like heavy, tiring work rather than fun, but he did a great job as far as Stephen could tell from his vantage point. EmmaLee is what, or rather, who, captured his attention. He knew she was tossing water balloons, but her aim was off. Way off. He smiled. Perhaps her mind was elsewhere. His certainly had been the last couple of days. All he knew was that it was a good thing there was distance between them in this event. Some focus had to be diverted as necessary.

Happily, Zophyr really got them back in it with the piñata round. Then Yasha was a machine when it came to the ring toss. As he ran towards Stephen to high five him and end his round and signal the start of Stephen’s, it felt like the game was a neck and neck race. Literally any one of the teams could win as it seemed fortunes had risen and fallen for just about all of them. Turning his focus to his task at hand, he had to smile as he heard Cyrus whistling the Steamboat Willie tune. Stephen couldn’t help himself. He started whistling it, too, and even did the cat sounds when it came time for those, and laughed good-naturedly as he hurried about his business.

He did cast a furtive glance around, just to make sure there really were no cats in the vicinity. He didn’t think it possible, but on the off chance his caterwauling may have attracted some, he needed to be prepared to fend them off. He could stand losing. What may be harder to bear would be the indignity of losing any fish to a meow monster, no matter how cute and fluffy it may be.
