Water Race
It was mid-afternoon on August 6th. The students would be heading outside after eating their lunch, and some might be headed towards the West side of the stadium to take part in the Water Race. It was bright and sunny that day. The heat had reached its peak, remaining just bearable enough for the students to enjoy the race.
There were 6 lanes, each holding one team of 8 people. A fence marked the boundaries of the race, and people could gather to cheer on their friends as they ran. The fence would also act as a barrier to keep the water inside the racing area. Each lane was separated by pool noodles on the ground as well as the end of a task area.
There were 8 tasks in total, and all the materials the kids would need were located in their station either laying on the ground, or in a bucket. Each team member would wait at the starting point of their task for the person before them to high-five them. After being high-fived, the student would race to complete their task as fast as possible before going to high-five the person after them, also waiting in the starting area of their task.
The referee for the race, Sage Willows, could be seen roaming along the finish line where she could clearly see all the racers. From there, she would announce the progress of the race. Near where the referee stood was a bucket of towels for the racers to dry off with after the end of the race.
"Welcome, everyone!" Sage would shout once everyone was accounted for. "I'm so excited you've joined us for the Water Race at Summer Camp 2024! I'll be your referee for this match! You all know the rules, complete your task as fast as possible and race to the next person! Remember, stay in your waiting area until you are tagged! I'll be watching. And, like always, have a great time!"
Sage would wave for everyone to take their starting positions. The first racer would be at the starting line with everyone else, waiting to race. Their goal was to run through the standing water in a kiddie pool as fast as they could and get to the second racer. The second racer, completing the task of filling a bucket of water with holes in it while running, would be standing at the start of their event for the first racer to tag them. The race would continue like so until the eighth racer. That racer would complete the final task and would do their best to win it for their team by crossing the finish line first.
"Are you all ready?" She would pause and look to see if anyone was still getting in position. Once everyone was ready, Sage would yell, "On your mark.... get set... Haime had been looking forward to this event since the beginning of summer camp. Now that she was here though, Haime was realizing that this course was a lot more overwhelming than she thought it would be, but it was okay since she knew she only had to focus on one task.
She looked around noticing that there were five other teams participating in the race, which meant there were five other students who would be racing through standing water as well, which meant that just based on math she would have about a seventeen percent chance of finishing in first place for her task, and that her team would have seventeen percent chance of winning too.
Now that she had made it to the race and everything was going as planned, Haime was finally allowing herself to be excited. This was the only summer event that she had signed up for. She also knew she couldn't let her team down. Haime was ready for everyone to arrive and the race to begin at last. However, while she was waiting Haime decided it wouldn't hurt to look over the course so she could be prepared and plan out her moves.

As she came to the place to start the first task, she looked at others who were doing this task. Kaya thought she'll try her best but won't be too upset if she doesn't win. Her team still can win, otherwise they all simply could share the fun. Stopping these thoughts Kaya focused on the task that she had to do and decided to not think about anything else.
It wasn't important how much chance she had for coming first. Thinking about it would only distract and might discourage if the percentage isn't high enough. She smiled and thought whether she would be able to see how Yasha would be doing his task. And Amber with EmmaLee. She trusted fully in her team and her friends. We can do it or at least have fun all together before summer camp will finish.

Ok, this is going to be insane, Brookline thought as she smirked, taking in the amazement of the course, running through standing water was going to be hard but also easy. Sure, water was guaranteed to be splashed, but walking through water was easy, so wouldn't running be also?
Her dragon braid bouncing up and down as she skipped down to the course with her team. She had a hot pink top on with a pair of stretchy black athletic shorts. She didn’t want her attire to ruin her chances of winning. Brookline caught a glance of the students already there. Only one girl Haimeby the kiddie pools she thought was a Ravenclaw. The only person on her team she knew was, her best friend Peter.
Glancing around, Brookline caught sight of a Hufflepuff roaming around the finish line. It was Sage! Sage was a girl who she had met after exams before school was let put for the summer. She smiled and waved to Sage before taking her spot. Taking in the pool, she decided to plan out her movements and actions before she would turn to her team, exclaiming, “Good luck, everyone! Oh and have fun!” She smiled before high fiving Peter and then turning back to her spot on the starting line.

Water Race
Basil wondered why he was doing this. He felt like the past week had been him wondering that. He hated attention and he was a very shy person. Why, why why, would he do something like this? He looked at his teamates and realized that Minnie was there. He had kissed her on the cheek during the misletoe spin a few days ago. He blushed when he rembered that she had kissed his cheek back. He also seemed to remember a comotion going on that was started by her. Basil looked back to the task ahead which he hoped would be easy. He wanted to win for his group! Basil gave a little smile to his group and then wondered how he was going to run through water. I mean, water isn't that hard to walk through so running should be easy right? Basil thought. Basil was so nervous he was basically bouncing on the balls of his feet. The person in charge came forward and started to talk a little about the race.Basil went into a position to run and waited for the countdown. The moment he heard the word "go" he lept forward and hoped it would be enough to get to Minnie and high five her in time.

Water Race
"And they're off!" Sage shouted, keeping a careful eye on the racers. Racing through the water wasn't very difficult, but it could be easy to slip and fall if you were to mess up. Thankfully they all seemed to be doing well.
"Racing for Team One is none other than Basil Venus Murphy! He's looking to have a strong start for his team, but can he maintain it?" The American had gotten himself into second place, which could be very useful to his team later.
"And Haime Yoon is the first racer for Team Two! She's doing a nice job, very close to tagging her teammate!" Haime had gotten her team into 5th place, which was in the back of the pack. But her team and her still had a chance to win the race if they fought hard.
"Team Three's racer, Brookline Quinn, is not far behind Basil! Will she be able to catch him before getting to her teammate?" Brookline had snatched third place and while she was doing a nice job of staying ahead of those behind her, Team Six's racer wasn't far behind her.
"Whoa! Oonagh Brown for Team Four has taken off! She's grabbed first place for her Team, leaving the others in the dust! The question is, can her team keep the lead she's gotten for them?" Oonagh was far ahead of the others; they'd all have to kick it into gear if they wanted to catch Team Four.
"Kaya Rose Bennett is out there for Team Five, but she's gotten herself back in last place, just behind Haime Yoon. Her teammates better cheer her on to help her catch up!" Team Five was hanging out back in last place, and they'd really have to fight hard if they wanted to stay out of last place.
"And a Castelobruxo student, Lorelai Diniz, racing for Team 6 is up there in fourth place! There's not much of a gap between her and third place, but there's also not much of a space between her and fifth place!" Team Six had gotten themselves in a good position to catch those ahead of them, but they also had a chance to fall back.
"And it's Oonagh Brown to tag her teammate first! Team Four is in the lead, Team One is in second, Team Three is in third! We've got Team Six not far behind Team Three, making them fourth! Team Two is in fifth place, and Team Five is in sixth!"

The games this year for summer camp were the most fun part of her experience. She loved the broom sledding and the battle of the seasons. She even loved the mistletoe spin, which she hadn't been the most entertained in. She'd loved the entirety of summer camp and couldn't wait to do it all over again the next year.
Maybe I'm getting a bit too excited. But how could Aurélie not get excited when she was here, in the middle of the game, and her teammate was racing through standing water. She stood at the ready, waiting for the moment that the girl on her team who went first would come to "tag" her. She looked around impatiently, and when she did get tagged, relief flooded through her.
Aurélie was a person who loved competition, who thrived in racing settings, who wanted to win and have fun doing it. And it was finally,finally, her turn in this race. And she was going to get her team the lead, she just knew it. Not even pausing for a second to take a breath, the little French girl was off, ready to go.abilities
When you cast a spell, you take your time doing so. You enunciate your words with care and you do not recklessly swish your wand about. Your spells don't backfire, they don't fail. You're too much of a Perfectionist to let that happen.

Representing Team 5
Let me introduce you to Miles Riley Thatcher, bucket filler extraordinaire for Team Winter. Yes, folks, this boy has been filling buckets since he could first stand next to a bucket and gather water. Let's have a review of his work:
His grandmother, or Gran as he calls her most, has a huge assortment of magical and non-magical plants back at her home in the state of Washington and always had. She experiments with Potion making and had made some amazing improvements to the world of magic through them - not so much inventing her own that did any good other than skin care, but to perfect a few already invented. Those plants require a lot of upkeep (as many magical plants can be temperamental) and this, in part, meant water, water, water. Whenever he could as it was his preference, he would forgo traveling with his parents on their journeys elsewhere and instead stay at Gran's house and often it was his responsibility to keep those plants hydrated!
Lissa, his grandmother's house-elf, would do what she called "Spring Cleaning." It was a week in the Spring where she would get an itch to scrub down every bit of his Gran's house with good old fashioned hard-work. Why? Miles never understood. Being a house-elf, Lissa had her own sort of magic and she used it every other week and was fabulous at it, but often she'd ask Miles to help her fill but bucket after bucket with water.
And when helping with some of the magical creatures that his parents both studied, it was gathering water to distribute to their enclosures.

He had this. Miles got to work as quickly as he could to accomplish this task for his team.
