Magical Masquerade: the actual ball

Still invigorated by the reassuring push of Nikolai's hand he delicately made his way towards the tree careful not to make his presence known until he could hold onto the bark itself. Matthew wasn't sure how Viva was going to react to him being there but he certainly didn't want another girl to flee from him tonight while he wasn't paying attention.
For a moment he paused back laying directly against the opposite side of her hiding spot. Being even this close to her he felt the whole world fade away leaving behind nothing but the two of them and the tree. There was an aura of comfort that eclipsed around them whenever they were together and it picked all of his troubles up and dashed them away on the nearest breeze. Tonight was no different as the wind danced through the cherry blossom leaves in a swirling stroke of enchanting pink light his hurting heart felt a cool, soothing release. What the exact feeling was he couldn't explain, since their last meeting he hadn't even tried to. After all what could a 12 year old boy really know of love.
Curling around the smooth bark he took in the sight of her sat small in her dress that flowed down into the grass now delicately dotted with blossoms that had fallen around her. She seemed to be quite upset and Matthews heart both yearned to heal it and placated him with guilt for any share of the blame he had in causing it. This, however, was not about him and the best apology was to make it up to her so painting on his best smile he slid down the tree planting himself next to her as he said "Don't suppose you'd mind some company, only under that mask you look very much like one of my closest friends and I would hate to see her upset and even more so to see her alone if she was." Then pulling a sage green handkerchief from his pocket he handed it to her with a gentle, pleading look.
Through all the chaos of the ball she was serene, calmness. An anchor to save him from any storm. Wishing to be all that and more for her he pulled on that energy that he had inherited from his mother protecting the two of them in the warm wraps of a calming aura hoping it would ease her soul.

Aurélie found herself warming up to Emily wuite fast, not that she didn't warm to everyone fast, but the other girl seemed genuine in her words and unafraid to dance. Though she probably wasn't the type to do anything crazy, she seemed enough like Aurélie for them to get along well.
She laughed at Emily's daydreaming comment, completely understanding. Creativity came naturally to her, and so did out of the box ideas, but taking the time to actually make use of them? That was the hard part. She could probably have finished an entire photography album had she put to use all her great ideas, but some concepts were hard to catch, and despite her best efforts, Aurélie gave up sometimes.
"The only way I get anything done is if I'm really dedicated that day." It came out in a joking tone, but it was true. Aurélie got distracted way too easily.
She hoped that her lighthearted speech wasn't boring Emily. Having not spoken formally to many people and being a person who talks too much, that was all she knew how to do. Maybe Emily would've been better off without Aurélie approaching her randomly. Ugh, whatever was in that drink is making me paranoied again. Shaking her head to try and clear it, Aurélie closed her eyes and just enjoyed the music for a moment. Dance had always been an outlet for her and she was going to use it.
As Emily spoke once more, Aurélie opened her gray eyes, focusing them on the girl in front of her. She didn't want Emily to think she wasn't paying attention to her.
From her nervous tone, Aurélie guessed that Emily wasn't comfortable eating the food from the ball, at least not yet. Which made plenty of sense after being drugged by the drinks that they'd chosen. Honestly, though the Beauxbatons student was getting hungry, she didn't want to eat anything yet either.
As for the comment about taking a photo, Aurélie had thought the same thing. To her beloved grandmother's suggestion, she'd started a series of photos for social events and gatherings. The idea had been one meant to push her into attending more of such events, but since it had been a good one, she'd accepted it.
Having a Hogwarts ball in her collection of photos would be different, since most of her pictures so far were from French pureblood gatherings that she'd been forced to attend by her grandparents. Plus, she hadn't gotten a single picture from the last ball.
"I was going to go get my enchanted camera, but I didn't want to miss out on the ball. I'll probably go later on if I don't forget." She hesitated. Would it be better to go now? "Unless, do you think I should go now?"

Thanks to her and Aurélie's conversation, Emily was able to remain grounded for the duration of their dance together. With the effects of her spiked drink still pulling at her from within she was going to take whatever saving grace or miracles she could cling on to in the hopes of remaining civil and not scaring her new friend away.
Saying that though, Aurélie didn't seem to still be faring any better than Emily was. She could still see her in her slightly nervous stupor. It was hard to believe that a single drink could turn this optimistic, extroverted girl into a slightly alternated version of Emily herself. Emily couldn't help but feel bad for her; she could see Aurélie trying to find little gaps of peace between the times they were talking. Hopefully so long as Emily stuck with her then perhaps the rest of the evening could go smoothly. Or as smooth as it could get given the circumstances.
At least Emily was able to keep Aurélie distracted by bringing back the notion of her photography prowess. A commemorative photo would be nice, save for the fact they were both under the influence of weird party drinks as they would take it. Emily, still sensing Aurélie's underlying unease despite the circumstances, gave her some friendly encouragement.
"The ball will still be here if you want to go get it now...!"

The nifflers had started retreating, no attention given to them and the effects that ailments had after drinking the beverages were starting to disappear slowly . A pleasant cool night took over, as the sky turned darker and the lights shone brighter. But the stadium was in shambles, given the after effects of the chaos that had happened over the past two hours. Despite that, everything was calmer as soft classical music played in the background. A lot of people had started moving back to their dorms, tired of the day's events while some stayed back, insistent on enjoying a few more dances with their partners.

Magical Masquerade: the actual ball

He wasn't able to immediately locate his girlfriend in the crowd, so Aaron ended up heading towards the food and drink table. Not to eat or drink anything (he heard too many horror stories about food and drinks being spiked with potions at past events), just to get out of the crowd for a moment. He was distracted taking in all the food when he felt a pair of hands over his eyes. A playful grin appeared on his lips hearing the voice. It was hard to disguise your own voice if you weren't practiced at it, so he saw through Amina's disguise easily.
"Nice to see you again so soon, Amina," Aaron laughed, hands raising up to grab hers. He removed her hands from his eyes and turned around still holding them. "Oh, nice look. We kinda match," Aaron joked, a bit surprised to see the girl was still wearing the plain black clothes similar to the night before. Did she not enjoy dressing up? Most girls did. He released her hands at this point.
"You know, I just thought of the perfect dare for you," Aaron said, a mischievous grin taking over his expression. He detailed to her that if she wanted him to do her dare - the one she'd mentioned the night before about partner acrobatics - she would have to dress up. Not just nicely, but extravagantly. Make a real spectacle of herself. It was clear from the way she was dressed now that she wasn't a fan of doing stuff like that, but that was the dare Aaron proposed (one that would be fulfilled during s'winter camp in a couple months). With the dare out of the way, they spoke briefly of their plans for the evening. But then Aaron spotted someone in the crowd.
"I just saw my girlfriend, so I should go, but maybe I'll catch up with you later? Have a good night, Amina!"
With that, Aaron said goodbye to his new friend and found himself heading for a quieter corner of the ball. He took Opeila's hand the minute he found her, pulling her close. Whispers complimenting her outfit for the evening and apologies for being late, then a dance together. They had a rather nice time for the rest of the evening, unbothered by the usual ball drama. He did regale her at one point about the new Durmstrang friend he'd made, but it was a fleeting topic. He definitely didn't go into the fact that he'd jumped off the Astronomy tower. That was a story best saved for later, when she was less likely to scold him. Over drinks, maybe?
The night overall was a good one for Aaron.
TL;DR: Aaron greeting Amina and chatting, then excusing himself to go talk, dance and hangout with Opeila.

Aurélie lost herself in the music once more as Emily took her time to reply. The ball seemed to be coming to an end, people were leaving and the crowd was thinning out, but the French girl still hadn't ate. She was hungry now, but the thought of eating the event provided food made her stomach turn. She gazed longingly at the refreshments table, but didn't move, deciding to wait until morning to eat.
Finally, Aurélie snapped back to attention as Emily replied to her earlier comment, encouraging the French girl to go and get her wizarding camera. If I come back to take a picture, I don't think I'll stay long. She didn't know about Emily, but Aurélie was tired. The ball had been fun, from trying to find the key to the gate in the entrance, to entering the real ball, to meeting Emily, to dancing. Even the sabotaged drink had been eventful and kind of funny, now that she thought about it. It still didn't give her the confidence to eat anything, but though paranoia still flowed in her veins, she found the incident entertaining.
"Alright, then. Bye, Emily!" Aurélie stopped dancing and gave her new friend a hug. She didn't know how much of a hugger the Hogwarts girl was, so she decided to go with a safe side hug, squeezing the other girl's shoulders before letting go. Maybe they'd meet again at one of the other Hogwarts balls, or maybe at summer camp this year. Aurélie hoped so. Emily had been quiet, but nice too, and she'd opened up later on.
Waving to her new friend, the French girl walked off the dance floor, off to find her trunk and her enchanted camera.------------------------------------Aurélie walked back into the ball close to the end. She'd taken a while to find her camera, since it had been at the bottom of her unorganised trunk, but she'd found it and she was here. Tired and wanting to sleep, the French girl quickly clambered up a tree and, making sure that she had the perfect angle, took a picture of the chaotic scene. Not even checking how it looked, she got down and exited the ball once more.

Magical Masquerade: the actual ball
This was really starting to chap his ass now. What the hell did he have to do to get this god forsaken thing off? He really wished he was further along in Transfiguration at this point, because that way he could transform something into a crowbar and pry the damn thing off. Sadly, however, he could not do that and there, he was resigning himself to the fact that he and the mask would be stuck together for the foreseeable future.
Her hands had been cold and it certainly hadn't been the most wonderful experience but he at least appreciated Siobhan trying to help him get the mask off. He silently cursed himself once again for being stupid enough to put the mask of unknown provenance on in the first place. He also wondered what the hell had happened to Reggie. He seemed like a resourceful sort, surely he could have it off in a jiffy. Still, it could've been worse, Siobhan had been very careful and succeeded in not hurting Uri in her attempt (well, anymore than she already had when she punched him) so that was at least something.
"Let's give up on the mask for now, seems like a losing battle. I'll just ask a prefect or professor about it later." He figured since he was here he might as well make the most of his time, even if it wasn't quite what he'd imagined. Siobhan seemed nice enough and he knew he needed to make more friends at school, he figured he might as well start with her. "So, Siobhan, tell me, what do you do when you're not punching people in the face and the making them all better?" He'd tried to look super smooth but then he remembered it was pointless because he was still stuck in the stupid fucking mask.Action: Chatting Siobhan upSTA 5 | EVA 3 | STR 3 | WIS 7 | ARC 7 | ACC 5

Russian Swedish Open to Interaction Norwegian EnglishNo, the Wolf (@Marshal Mozor) had said with a noncommittal stammer to his voice. But yes, his feet had answered as they continued to make their way in the direction of Greta's bidding. Eyes rolling exaggeratedly, though with her leading the charge, he wasn't likely to see. He sounded like Koby, she mused. Or Joho. Or any of the others who put up a tough front and pretended as though they didn't like the attention or being coerced into participating in social matters, but really just needed a bit of a push. Or pull, as the case may be. With brows pinched and lips pursed to a thin line, an expression of determination dared anyone to get between her and the target spot upon the dance floor. "I help you to dance."
Her reassurance, though, was met with mewling as the boy once again tried to weasel out his predicament by citing his lack in skill. "I know how to dance! I say I help you!" Tears brimming, she had barely set foot upon the solid flooring before relinquishing his wrist and wheeling upon him. Her pulse quickened, the heat of its beat thumping furiously in her chest. Somewhere, she knew she was being stupid, that she shouldn't be so upset. He didn't know her. She didn't know him. But wasn't that the point? Why didn't anyone want to spend time with her? Why was it that she was never allowed to do what she wanted to do? Fists thrust down at her side, shoulders as stiff as she was trying to make her lower lip. "Or you say you no good at dancing because you not want to dance with me? Why you come to dance if you not want to dance? I not know what is embarrassing but I know what you say is--"
She faltered, lips pressing together, shoulders rising and falling, her expression one of knowing what she wanted to say, but not knowing how to say it in the right language. Frustration mounted, and for a moment it might have appeared she was reaching a tipping point, all the more evident by the rising shrill of her voice. But then it started to shift as the potion's hold loosened. The angry red departed from her cheeks, the fuming stance softening. Her breathing slowly ebbed, and the lines faded from her countenance. As though waking rousing from slumber, Greta glanced around, then back to the boy in the wolf mask. Though tinted in a shade of red and feeling very much like a lucid dream, she hadn't forgotten anything of the previous moments. But she couldn't quite figure out why she'd been so upset. Wincing, she glanced down to opening palms to see angry red crescents freckled with tiny dots of red.
"Sorry..." she whispered, eyes downcast as a red hue of an entirely different source coloured her cheeks. O, the irony of her earlier comment. Hands clasped quickly together on realization of just how much of a fool she must have acted, drawn up against her chest with palms out of sight. Was she really so desperate for attention that she was trying to force someone who obviously didn't want to be there into dancing with her? She bit her lip, shifting uncomfortably on the spot. "I should not to make you dance if you not want. I am rude. I not know why I.. be very angry at you. It is not me. Maybe I feel not well..." She glanced up, then down again in shame, and took a step back. "I go. Sorry."STA | 5 STR | 1 EVA | 15 WIS | 10 ARC | 12 ACC | 20Action: apologizing to the Wolf

Interacting with @Charlotte Winfield.
Standing in the shade of a magnolia tree, Nora awaited her date. Her name was Charlotte and she was a first year Slytherin, who she'd met in the Slytherin common room. They'd instantly clicked over their shared understanding of the Veela language. While Nora only knew the tongue from her aunt, Charlotte was a half-veela. They made plans to go to the ball together, and Nora had been nervously excited ever since. But now she was here! And by god, they'd really outdone themselves this year. The whole area was beautiful. With a gorgeous array of trees creating a border, a huge dance floor, and tables upon tables of what looked like delicious food. Nora herself had already nagged a melon, but she was saving her appetite for the rest of the night.
She'd put on a floor-length dress dyed a deep purple, with 'matching' silver rustic heels and a silver feather necklace. Despite the offer of floating masks, she's brought her own, one that had been made by her muggle cousin, Evelyn. Nora wasn't quite sure what type of bird it was, but that was what Evelyn had said it was, so she believed her. In any case, it was definitely a predator bird, and Nora thought it looked pretty fierce. She had initially planned to wear a silver dress with the look, but when she'd tried it on, she'd found it far too dull and had instead traded it out for the one she had now. Plus, the purple reminded her of her old hair colour, which she dearly missed. Overall, the look felt very handmade and thrifted, a considerable contrast to the elegant look she'd sported the year before, and she thought she liked it a lot more. It just felt more like her.
As Nora waited for Charlotte, she reflected on her first ball ever from nearly a year and a half ago. It had been nothing short of a disaster, with plenty of drama, tears, and injury. On the other hand, it had also earned her one of her best friends. Said best friend, Qrow, was now her dormmate and had introduced her to another of her good friends, Mahl. Nora hoped this one took the good out of that one and left the bad, but hope was all she could really do. At least this time, there wasn't shrubbery trying to eat her (or anyone else) alive. Paling a bit at the memory, Nora took a quick step away from the tree. Better safe than sorry.

⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆ "To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides"⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆Siobhan partially bristled in shame as he made a quick joke over the punch she had delivered to him nearly an hour ago. She knew she would feel guilty about the incident for some time, but at least Uri didn't seem like he was that upset about it anymore. Though she couldn't quite tell as his mask was still fixated on his face and there seemed to be no way to remove it anytime soon. She pursed her lips as she thought about how to describe her hobbies in a way that wouldn't sound boring or dorky.
"Well, I quite enjoy reading and when I'm at home in Killarney, I spend a lot of time in my orchard or greenhouse. I have quite the green thumb and I spend a lot of my time at home either working on my family's farm or exploring the Lough Leanne. It's a lake just on the outskirts of my town." She said hoping her descriptions of her idea of fun didn't outline exactly how alone she was outside of school. While she had made friends here at Hogwarts, she wasn't exactly sure how that would translate over the summer. She had a vague idea of how the post worked for muggles, but she didn't have access to an owl outside of the Owlery.
"I'm very excited for next year though. I love seeing the friends I've made here and getting to explore the magical world. Well- I suppose I won't be entirely away from magic in a sense. My family has roots in Celtic, Scandinavian and Romani magic practices. Nothing that involves wand waving or spell casting. Just rune writing and divination as well as kitchen magic." Siobhan rambled before cutting herself off. She covered her mouth with the back of her hand as she looked off slightly embarrassed by what she had been talking about. In Killarney, her family was known for being crazy, and strange... Most of the town regarded them with general courtesy but with nothing more than polite smiles until which ever family member it was directed at had passed them before moving to the other side of the street or running off out of fear.
She was grateful her family had at least accepted her and her different brand of magic. In fact, her oldest brother Eoghan, would be taking her to Diagon Alley this upcoming September as her parents would be out of town on a university tour with her next oldest brother Cillian who had been scouted for the universities football team at the University of Dublin. She was very proud of him, but needed someone to take her shopping for supplies the next year.
As she looked aorund she noticed that the ball was beginning to thin out. She frowned softly thinking that perhaps the nifflers that had been running around were gone. She had wanted to see them- and potentially offer one of them one of her earrings- you know, just to see what the creature would do.
"It seems like everyone is beginning to leave. And rightfully so, it's getting quite late out." Siobhan murmered as she looked around. It had greatly thinned out and she herself was feeling the adrenaline rush from earlier beginning to wear off as the endorphins from accidentally puncing him left her system.
"Other than accidentally punching you in the ace, you've been a very nice companion to have at an event such as this. And Reggie as well- wherever he happened to go... If I'm not imposing, it would be nice to talk to you again sometime during school." Siobhan said kindly as she offered an extension of friendship via a smile. Uri seemed like he had a good head on his shoulders and despite their rather unfortunate re-encounter earlier this evening, he didn't seem like someone who would ignore her if she said hello later on.
