Ps: I have not seen moderators doing commentary in matches aloud, like if they had a microphone. The duellists cannot hear them, it is just in the post. That is what I meant commentary.

As the moderator I basically just ooc decide (using rolls) if the spells work or now and all of the other effects. Then I put them into my post so that you duelists and “spectators” assuming there are any know what happens.
