π“˜f weird things happened at Hogwarts balls, Bex had certainly never heard of them. She'd heard through the grapevine about the kids who almost drowned back in the Fall, of course, but seeing as the Nurse had felt the need to offer swimming lessons in a giant dish afterwards, Bex had simply assumed that this had been due to an inability to swim on the children's part rather than anything out of the ordinary, magical or otherwise. She probably wouldn't have skipped the last ball had someone told her that there was more interesting fun to be had than slow dancing and punch. "What kind of crazy things?"

In response to Aly's question regarding her own ball outfit, Bex shook her head. "No, I got mine from my grandma, too. She makes us Halloween costumes every year. I wore it to a party back in October, but it was kind of a drag. So I'm happy I get to wear it again." She loved the antennas most of all, and had to resist the urge to shake her head like a wet dog so she could watch them flop about. Her own grandmother-outfits might never be able to incorporate spell-work like the mesmerizing night sky of Aly's dress, what with Grandma Vera being a muggle and all, but Bex rather preferred that, if she was being honest; she liked being able to carry this small piece of her muggle family traditions with her to school.

Aly made a soft, surprised noise and, for a moment, Bex thought that she had found the next clue. Unfortunately it seemed that Aly had gone toe-to-toe with the rose thorns instead, and Bex found herself grateful that she'd chosen to leave this specific clue to the rest of the ton. She attempted to ask Aly if she was alright, only to be interrupted by the deafening voice of the howler reading out the next clue to the crowd. Once again Bex was forced to question the logic of day-to-day wizarding life; this could not be a better solution than just like, a loudspeaker. Or, even better, just sending out a mass text. The rather rude message had served it's purpose, though: they were looking for a pearlbush.

Aly managed to spot one before her, and, after carefully plucking a rosebud off the bush and sticking it in her pocket, Bex hurried along after her. She had started to come around to the idea that maybe they'd forgotten to plan a ball at all and the whole night would just be spent digging around in the flowers like moles. Unsurprisingly, she had no qualms about this.

She was delighted, of course, to see Pericles next to their mark - and he'd gone as the moon! No one had thought to clue her in on their astronomy coordination, and she was extremely cross about it - but the clue had been public for a minute or so now, and as such she was way behind schedule.

"Hullo, Pear! I like your mask, it matches the rest of you." And with that, she eagerly dove into the pearlbush, never to be seen again. Or to be seen again in another minute or two, after she'd found the key, the next clue, or, at the very least, some more cool rocks. Who's to say?
Action: Attending a very important meeting (searching a pearlbush)

@Elisa Shakestra
Ekachot was enjoying his time at Hogwarts, a little too much than he expected. The atmosphere here was so much more calmer than at TenΕ«sa.
He even made a friend, almost. Ekachot had found a young girl around the same age as his talking to snakes once and that made him intrigued. Never had he seen, someone having the ability to talk to snakes. He had approached the blonde, and then Ekachot and Elisa turned friendly. Something about the girl, convinced him or more like, made him want to go to the ball so he asked her to be his partner and Elisa agreed.
He found his haven in the magnificent Hogwarts library, something he did not want to accept but still found himself time and again, yearning to flip the old sometimes crinkled, pages of the book. That was where he was until he realised that the ball had already started. He was already ready with his outfit on, a black tuxedo and his black hair gelled back. He pulled out his mask from one of his coat pockets and descended the stairs to the training pitch.
The pitch was heavenly decorated, bursting with colours. Bright, something Ekachot wasn't too used to seeing. He walked forward towards the entrance and approached Elisa as soon as he saw her. He tapped her shoulder and simply said in greeting, "Well, hello." He then looked around and noticed people crouching down, looking into the bushes. His eyes moved to the board hanging in front, which made him realise they were looking for the clues. 'Such a waste of time', Ekachot thought to himself.

The bees were creating quite a havoc. As Alyssea stepped away from her group to search for her cat, she saw a swarm of bees. Deciding to be brave, she cast Avifors at them. If even the slightest of it went wrong, Brown would have to run with the bees following behind her. Thankfully, she successfully casted the spell turning half of them into beautiful white doves. The other half of bees headed towards Romeo. Greta quickly stepped up to save her friends, enunciating 'Ebublio'. The bees were immediately trapped into a bubble.
On the other hand, Raizel finally casts the disrooting spell on Zach freeing him from his bounds.
At the same time, Irya finally sets her hand on a box with the next and last clue. As soon as the box is opened, the howler screams up the clue:
This is your last chance,
The key to the dance.
In Florence I am fleur-de-lis.
A vibrant sight never to miss.

And I'm a monster on the hill
Magical Masquerade: The entrance
post 1
The strong smell of flowers was an overpowering one; invading the senses, clouding your mind and confusing you with so many different nodes of scent that trying to pick them out would be impossible. The closer Alec got to the training pitch; the strong the mixed scent of flowers grew. The stronger the scent of the flowers grew the more stiff the teen's once easy-going posture became. Anxiety stirred in him, throwing itself at him; it came in waves, each wave trashed at him harder than the last in the same way a thunderstorm slowly comes in makes it's way, wrecking havoc with each larger and larger wave send forth towards the shore. This sense of unease was as familiar to him as the way the sun comes up and the moon goes down; an unfortunate inevitability, made worse-s0 that he was hyper-aware of the fact that the event was a large social gathering with lots of people.

He stood still, if only to take a moment to gather his courage. A sharp sting of embarrassment hit him, piercing him like an arrow. He found it hard not to feel ashamed of the person he was now... Merlin, why had Dealla agreed to go with him? She could have gone she'd wanted too. Furthermore he couldn't fathom why she had continued to spend time with him at all, even before the ball. Alec closed his eyes, not wanting to pull himself further into this never-ending spiraling cycle, he held onto his wand, grasping it tightly in his left hand. He took a breath in, running his thumb over the smooth wood of his wand. He was letting his anxiety get to him.

Though he wanted desperately to take off, run for the hills and never come back; he wouldn't ditch her like that. He knew they'd have a good time. That's why he'd asked her to come with him in the first place, he liked being around her, and she at the very least tolerated his presence if she'd agreed to come with him. When he let out the breath of air, he felt better; I didn't completely soothe his worries, but it was a start. Him and Dealla would have a good time. This was good for him, he needed to push himself out of his comfort zone. It was good for both of them, how often did Dealla ever get to actually let loose?

When he'd gathered himself, once more he continued his trek. As he got closer his eyes surveyed the area before him, he did his best to keep himself focused and grounded. Something was going on in the bushes, he would wonder if someone had lost a wand, then move his focus elsewhere, searching for Dealla. When he spotted her, he relaxed every so slightly. He didn't run to her, instead, he walked to her gradually, with this many people around it was hard not to be self-aware of his own actions. He was pushing himself to do something he was uncomfortable with, he felt like running to her might draw eyes, thus he walked. He waved when he got closer. Until finally, β€œprince,” last names felt too formal for Alec, but he'd always liked the sound of hers. Practically a lifetime ago he'd used her last name to taunt her... Even then it always felt fitting, the regality of a last name like 'prince' made him think of wit and intelligence, it fit her perfectly.

His eyes lingered on her dress, she pulled it off so well it may as well have been handmade for her. β€œYou look stunning,” the words slipping from his mouth before he could stop to take a second thought about what he was saying. Alec face flushed and he looked off to the side bashfully. β€œI didn't leave you waiting too long, I hope,” directing the conversation for a moment he could move himself away from feeling like a shy child. He forced himself to look past Dealla, eyeing the kids in pushes, he nervously ran a hand through his hair. β€œWe probably should have planned to meet up before the ball,” Dealla was usually easy to spot, but it was harder to see her with so many people running about. β€œThere wasn't a super obvious place of entrance as I was walking up. I was... um- er distracted so I might have missed it. Did you see one?”

COSTANZA JEWELWEED

Almost as if a static shock had gone off between them, Costanza just about jumped out of her skin as a voice went off next to her ear and an elbow slipped in to interlock with hers. Her stupor was so great that even the touch avoidant girl stayed right where she was. She stared at the golden vision before her as the spot where their skin connected grew warmer. Several thoughts ran through her mind, and the foremost was: What the hell have I done to deserve this one?

But before Costanza could wring her elbow out of C-3PO’s grasp and push her away with force strong enough to topple buildings, the girl spoke again. She went on about Costanza’s supposed concept for the ball and when the honey badger processed the robot’s words, her state of incredulity shifted to one of rising anger. She gave C-3PO a once-over as her own facial features hardened. The girl’s mask didn’t obscure her face fully, so she could recognize her from classes.

And that voice. That tell-tale voice of someone who was always late to class - even later than Costanza herself - speaking in a tone perfect for one of those money laundering candy shops on Oxford Street. Costanza had taken special interest in this girl during the first months of school. Why? Because C-3PO’s real name brought forward feelings of unease. Of bitterness. And most definitely of a deadly poison.

β€œHemlock,” the honey badger began, attempting to keep her voice measured despite speaking through gritted teeth. β€œLet go of me while you still have an arm.” Costanza wouldn’t pull away. No, she would give C-3PO the chance to bring some comfort to their interaction by obeying her request. Though, she wondered if the Hemlock girl even knew what having a wholesome conversation was like. From what Costanza observed of the girl, she loved making things awkward. But the honey badger didn’t need any help with that.

And suddenly, like C-3PO had disappeared and all that stood before her was the pathway to the ball, the voice of a howler erupted once more and Costanza’s attention was elsewhere placed. Briefly feeling disgusted by her abrupt interest in the scavenger hunt, she shook the feeling off and thought long and hard about the clue, leaving C-3PO as the background character of her internal monologue.

The Fleur-de-lis was a type of logo and it was used widely in popular culture. Costanza knew that from her father who used to love playing the game Saints Row in the living room, much to the chagrin of her mother. The bright purple logo of the Saints gang was a Fleur-de-lis, explained her father. And when the family had gone on one of their trips to Italy, they spent a couple nights in Florence. There, Costanza had spotted a variation of the logo and had to be told that it wasn’t exclusive to the video game. This Fleur-de-lis was much more detailed and very red.

β€œRed lilies,” she breathed, exiting deep thought. The memory of her father telling her that the logo is meant to look like a lily was suddenly resurrected, though she still couldn’t see it. But she was sure that the last clue had been hidden in a red lily bush. How unfortunate that she would not be participating in the hunt. Her jeans were ripped at the knees for crying out loud. Then she remembered the parasite robot that may or may not have still been attached to her, depending on if C-3PO had heeded her warning.

β€œI’m not trying to be β€˜not like other girls’,” she used air quotes around the term. β€œI was just taking a walk. I didn’t know I would end up here.” Costanza paused, debating how fake that excuse sounded. Well, she was happy to get more dramatic with it. β€œHow was I supposed to know the ball was going to be here. I didn’t even know it was scheduled for today… I just saw the pretty lights and thought I would check it out.” How sad that the most words she’d spoken in a row since coming to Hogwarts would be in defense of herself. A defense full of lies.

Not a lot of times had she found herself casting Reparifarge, having no reason to do so as there was no transfiguration to undo. This is one of those rare opportunities where she could try it out outside of class. β€œPray that this will-” she paused, her gaze trailing towards an older student who she didn't notice had approached them. Her eyes were on this older student for a couple of seconds, trying to recognize her as she doesn't exactly have the best memory when it comes to people that she usually doesn't interact with.

This girl is someone that she does know though albeit only interacting with her once in the common rooms back in her first year and as a fellow duellist in the Gryffindor team. β€œMiss Decipio. Well, nothing much, just preventing someone from blowing away all the pretty flowers.” That was the truth behind it and not like she did something wrong too unless you call disarming someone to stop them was wrong. She had stumbled upon people who don't take kindness that well and would find it rather an annoyance. It's funny that she still hasn't learned her lesson and still insists on being helpful.

β€œAnyway, I can fix this, I think.” There was a slight nervous tone in her voice. Confidence in her spellcasting had been dwindling ever since her official duels yet she still continues to try. β€œReparifarge!” She casted, almost closing her eyes as she didn't want to see the results of her failure but it worked and Zach was free. β€œWill you look at that, it worked.” It was a relief, making her chuckle. That's the third spell she casted today, none of them failed… except for accio but she did successfully cast it, just didn't get any result. β€œYour wand should be around here somewhere.” She added as she got back up, looking at the older student who also had her wand out. For what purpose, probably to help Zach out.

Now that someone is here with them once more, and a Senior to boot, they better stay out of trouble or they'll attract more attention. β€œGuess we were being too loud or something. My apologies.” The younger Gryffindor apologizes for the inconvenience that they might have caused. Her attention was soon caught by the announcement of another clue, making her sigh then frown. β€œIt's not yet over huh. Mr. Cranky over here really wants to get this over with.” It was rare to see Zach this cranky but guess that's what hunger does to you. β€œLet's hope this is the last.” She too, would like to enter the main ball area but here they are, stuck at the moment.

EmmaLee smiled brightly as the AurΓ©lie girl responded to her question and gave a small, Beaxbaton-style curtsy that her mother had shown her when the other French girl asked about her accent. "I was born and raised in southwest France, about an hour drive from Bordeaux, until I was eight. Then we moved to America and then to Scotland and so I ended up going to 'Ogwarts. Both of my parents graduated from Beauxbaton though." She explained, standing upright once more and a giving another small little laugh. "'Ow are you liking it there? My mother has so many wonderful stories about the school."

EmmaLee always loved to meet people from her country and speak to them again. As much as she loved America and probably would always call that home because it was where her dearest friends were, there is always something warm and nostalgic about the place where one grew up. She still remembered quite a bit about France: the sea, the countryside, the way the air somehow always smelled like fresh water no matter how inland you were. Her mother had generally kept her outside of the major cities, and now EmmaLee knew why, so she had had a quite pauper's kind of childhood and she remembered the freedom of it fondly.

As EmmaLee was lost in the France of her mind for a moment and she took another sweep across the area looking for Stephen, she jumped in surprise when Kaya asked about her partner, then giggled with her hand covering her mouth. It wasn't as if she was hiding her searching, but she wasn't expecting to be 'caught' at looking, so to speak, while she was talking with her friends. "Oh well. It's a little complicated. I'm technically supposed to meet my friend Stephen 'ere, but we thought it would be fun to not tell each other our outfits." She said, turning to her friend with a bright smile. She looked around once more, still not finding him before looking back at Kaya and gesturing over to the daffodils they had searched earlier. "I was pretty sure I 'eard 'im searching the daffodils with us, but when I looked up I couldn't find 'im, and I 'aven't 'eard 'im since. I'm sure that once we are inside and there aren't so many people in one place, it will be easier to find 'im." She explained.

As she began to ponder his other ball outfit choices to connect what he might have chosen this time, someone else found the little box and the howler rang out with the, apparently last, clue. The moment she heard "fleur-de-lis" she nodded definitively and lead the other girls over to the patch of lilies to search. She giggled a little as the howler tired to rhyme "lis" with "miss" but it was neither here nor there. This would be the last clue and then everyone could go on about their night. "Fleur-de-lis is the lily, ladies." She said, more to Kaya and Amber than AurΓ©lie, as she led the group over to the flowers and began to search.

Γ‰lodie nodded at his answer. Koldovstortez. She assumed it was in Russia, but she couldn't be too sure. Growing up, she didn't learn much about other magical schools. Soon enough, she heard a response to her introduction, finally getting the name of the boy she'd been hanging out with before he asked what she thought about Hogwarts.

She watched as he searched the pearl bush for the next clue, thinking briefly before answering his question, "I think that the school is quite stunning. The architecture is incredible." she noted, before continuing, trying to find the right words. "Though the students here are quite... interesting... to say the least." She smiled, laughing lightly as she looked back toward the small mini-duel that seemed to be happening. "What about you?" she inquired.

Soon only minutes after she asked Irya her question, Irya had found the next clue. Γ‰lodie smiled brightly at him, congratulating him before the howler began yelling the next clue. Γ‰lodie put her hands over her ears in an attempt to drown out some of the loud noise, yet the howler was so loud, she could still hear it.

This is your last chance,
The key to the dance.
In Florence I am fleur-de-lis.
A vibrant sight never to miss.

For Γ‰lodie, this clue didn't need much thought. After all, she was French. Fleur-de-lis directly translated to Lily flower, which meant that the key to the dance had to be by the Lilies. "Come on," she said to Irya, beginning to walk to the flower. "The key has to be in Lilies."

AsÉlodie glanced around at the other participants, trying to figure out if they too had figured out the riddle, she saw someone familiar, who she still recognized even though he wore a mask. Adrien @Genevieve Delacourt. He wore a green suit, his brown hair slightly blowing around in the breeze, and walked stiffly. She smiled at the sight of him before waving, hoping he would see her. She then continued to walk and chat with Irya, searching through the Lilies to find the key to the ball.

AurΓ©lie nodded her head slowly as she listened to EmmaLee talk about her history of living in France, then America, and then Scotland. She smiled. "It sounds like you moved around a lot, but it's interesting to meet someone from France who isn't from Beauxbatons. I was born in Paris, but I was raised almost completely in Marseille, which is still southern France, but near the coast." She paused, straightening like EmmaLee. "As for my time as Beauxbatons, it's truly magical." She laughed lightly at her own unintended pun. "It's a beautiful school that's taught me a lot."

AurΓ©lie paused for a few more moments before looking back into the bushes. Obviously, that was when someone decided to find the clue. The howler started yelling the newest poem, and the Beauxbatons student found herself feeling slightly sorrowed by the notion that this one would be the last clue. Still, she was happy to move on to the real ball part of tonight.

As the poem ended, AurΓ©lie found herself grinning. She was a French speaker after all, and she knew exactly where to start looking. But as she turned to her searching partners to share her discovery, Amber, Kaya, and EmmaLee, she found that the Hogwarts student had beaten her to the translation.

They moved over to the lilies, and AurΓ©lie began searching frantically. This was the last clue and she wanted to be the one to find the key, and the box full of sweets. She felt herself start to daydream about all the sugared goodies that could reside within the next clue box.

I listened as everyone said hi to each other and I smiled. It felt good to do that. I nodded my head at what EmmaLee and AurΓ©lie were talking about. France. I had wanted to go there for a while.
I was about to go back and start looking into the bushes when a howler rang out once more. The last one. Someone had found the clue and this was the key to get into the ball. I was excited. More excited than ever. I guess the hunting had built up the excitement.
As it ended, I realized that the key to the poem was in french. I had begun to learn French because of AurΓ©lie. So I knew a bit. I just didn't know what this specific word meant. I turned to AurΓ©lie since I knew she knew French but EmmaLee beat her to it.
It was a lily. She motioned us to the lilies and we began to search. Curious I asked, "Hey EmmaLee, do you know French, because I am pretty sure that was French."
I turned back to looking and smiled. We were almost there, I could feel it. We were going to get into the ball soon and I was so excited. "Do you guys have dates to the ball?" I asked, wondering. I didn't but that was ok with me. I didn't want to date for a little bit anyway. I would enjoy the time with my friends, unlike last time.
