Shades of red and oranges painted along the sky, creating a picture of elegance and mystery. The lowering sun was creating a feat of dancing shadows over the illuminated grounds decorated and set up for a night of memories to take hold. After the foolish day of the first of April had an overshadow of clouds with a distant rain every now and then over the swirling great lake. A misty day of dread during the morning hours would turn to a night of mystery at sunset to mark the start of the Blossom Ball.... a daring event for those in attendance.
The great hall had an airy and bright essence that evening. The entrance to the ball was the first glance for the guests, the first impression of the night ahead. Banners representing each school hung on the walls, instead of the usual house pride at Hogwarts there looks to be school pride instead. This stood for unity or rivalry among the schools for this night and the events in the near distant future. Colorful flowers were scattered across the hall, every inch of the glamorous area seemed to be covered in them. Not a single corner untouched with the flowery aspect.
Perhaps call it an Easter egg, for those keen eyes or rather cultural students would notice each flower's unique origins. A flower representing the country where each school is located. Perhaps the Mahoutokoro students would appreciate the avid amount of cherry blossoms at the blossom ball that night. Or maybe the Ilvermorny and Koldovstoretz students will engage in conversation in the fact that the rose is the flower for both Bulgaria and America. The French weren't forgotten with their beautiful fleur-de-lis scattered alongside Russia's chamomile and Scotland's Thistle.

From the vast amount of flowers, it seemed a flower expert and an enthusiastic one was on the planning board this year..

Speaking of the organizers of this year's event, the group held a member from each house with a little house pride happening during discussion on how the evening will go, which they seem to agree for the most part. Scribbling down times for the start of games or other activities that night as well as dividing up responsibilities for the fun ahead. @Starlee Kennedy and Henry Knight agreed to preside over the great hall and interior activities while @Flash Holmwood took the helm of the grounds and presided over the exterior activities. The trio of slytherins do hold their differences among each other, particularly over the care of plants, but they each seem to pull together for the night. Can't say much for what the future holds. @Elsa Veronica Bennett (Nicky) eagerly took on the responsibility of presiding over the outdoor activities that night, particularly over the one's that contain fire.... the youngest of the group, first year @Emma Wynn agreed to help Nicky with the outdoor activities and the less flammable ones it seemed. The only bird of the group, @Aly Salinger bounced between presiding over the outdoor fun and the indoor safety.

The group was re-checking the placement and details of the ball. The activities they had planned and safety precautions set in place for the night ahead a mere moments before the start of the ball.
The great hall has a single purpose. Provide a place for friendships to blossom and alliances to grow between students and perhaps team mates. Among the banners and flowers, laid against the walls of the ball are tables covered with food. Food that represents every county in attendance that night so that students can feel a bit at home with traditional food or could be a little adventurous and try something from afar. The choice being theirs...
A few tables laid barren, a place card on those tables read a single word 'potluck', for those empty tables are for students to add their own food to the ball. A place for students to bring a favorite dish of theirs or perhaps a signature dish of their culture for others to try. The night shone brightly as a symbol of unity between countries and people, what better way to bring others together than by food.
The event is a ball, so naturally the hall served as a place for dancing too. Music sounded through the air from the instruments at the front, played by a band that was told to play songs ranging from different cultures and upbeat ones that could pair with the aesthetic of the night ahead. The enchanted ceiling transformed from its starry illusion to one of silent yet colorful fireworks exploding in sync to the music.
The jewel of the ball itself. The shimmering flame of the goblet of fire in the center of it all. A call students both young and old to cast their name within the flames for a chance of adventure but also danger. The main event some could say for the ball that night. With the Hexwizard Tournament in the minds of many, some wondered how that night would be? A puzzle to figure out... a mystery to be uncovered.

Minutes ticking away, Henry found his spot in the corner of the ball alongside a fifth year hospital wing intern standing at a small tent for those in need of healing or a quiet place to be for a few moments. The Healing Corner, a place that Henry helped set up for the ball with Nurse Brumby after seeing the injuries and chaos at the fall ball. Henry thought it could be a spot to help those in need and have a designated group of healers for if the night takes an unexpected turn. Hospital wing interns can volunteer at the Healing Corner that night for a minute or two, if they choose to, and they can always leave to enjoy the ball for themselves.
With the doors about to open, Henry noticed a few stuffed lions in school scarfs tucked away under tables and in corners. A nod toward Nicky he imagined seeing as she suggested the idea of the little creatures before.
The sun was about to disappear for the night. Still a few moments of the sunset. The doors of the great hall opened up to the public. Students of different cultures, attending Hogwarts or of another school, could be welcomed in their chosen attire for the night ahead. Henry felt himself let out a sigh of relief, for all the planning and prepping and fretting that the group did had come to an end. It had been worth it for the event of the night, for the chance of others to smile and create memories with friends or lovers or allies. That night had endless possibilities. It would be merely up to the students to see how their own nights would end.

Near the doors there would be sign up sheets for the activities of the night ahead for students to join. Space wasn't limited but time was fleeting for some would start as soon as night fell upon the Scotland Highlands.

Henry took his place at the Healing Corner, watching from afar but he would welcome and greet any student that approached or knew him. Offering a smile and wishes for a fun night ahead. Even though the lad had his night out for a particular student instead, wondering if Adlai would look his way when she arrived.
For Consideration
~ You must be in the index with an approved trunk

~ Before you enter the courtyard and grounds (outside games and craft corner), you have to post and enter through the blossom ball thread here

~ It is an action to go to the Festival area. Signing up for a game is a free action, but you must clearly state it in at least one post in the Celebration area. Lighting your magical candle is a free action.

~ if you want to be healed/help at/have quiet place to sit at the healing corner, please state it clearly in your actions

~ There is an IC sign-up sheet for two games at this location. One is called Firewalking Obstacle Course and the other is called Flying Torch Tag. As a free action your PC and iNPC can sign up for one of these games, which will start on April 23rd.

~ Your character will know by information given about the ball in various posters, that students are allowed to bring food for a potluck feature. It is encouraged for students to share a dish that is unique to their culture. There are house elves nearby who check the food for potions and poisons as soon as they are set down.

~ The champion reveal will happen on April 23rd in this area. After that, game sign-ups will close and games will start. It is also the last opportunity to add wishes to the effigy in the Festival area.

~ Keep in mind that there are adults around, so flagrant rule breaking will be noticed. Please don't break rules just to get the Professors' attention, I would like them to get to have fun as well.
The sign-up sheets have a short description of what to expect from the two games:
  • The Firewalking Obstacle Course will test your endurance, perception, and adaptability, as you will do this sacred ritual in honor of the sun… as well as avoiding dangerous obstacles. You will be asked to walk over the coals three times (three turns.)
  • Flying Torch Tag is a game of point collection, where you fly on school brooms and burn the flags of your enemies. There will be a turn limit, and you will be able to use your wand if you prefer. The person with the most points after five rounds wins. Ties get sudden death.

Some stories should never be told...

Well, at the very least she is not wearing a blanket like a toga or an oversized, cinched shirt. She was wearing white of all colors, probably one of the worst options to wear to a ball. The smoke, grass and blood stains alone were a sufficient reason to choose something else entirely. If nothing else, Erin cleaned up well. A gold-colored bangle on her left wrist and a pair of diamond stud earrings that were nearly invisible gave the part Veela a rather understated presence in comparison to some of the more elaborate choices in attire some of the other girls donned.

She felt tall at the very least, wearing a pair of wheat-colored wedges that added four inches to her already appreciable five foot five frame. She was thing, but she did not appear sickly. Her long, blonde hair was simply pulled back from her face, wisps of unruly strands of hair would frame a seemingly clean face. She had nobody in particular to impress so there was nothing elaborate, no reason to peacock when she was probably closer to a Canadian Goose. yet she bothered to show, balls such as the Blossom Ball are known for their chaos and she would not miss the disaster for the world.

The ball was like any other, a place of promise and lights. The chatter of students and the din of music already playing beckoning lovers to the dancefloor. Erin would take her usual place, among the wallflowers despite the fact that she never saw herself as one. In other words, she stood near the food, not that she would eat a single bite. She did not trust the food, she never really did and perhaps that was for the best considering the number of times it has been probably tainted with something.

So she would stand there on the side-lines and watch as the happy couples entered, silently thankful that this time her teeth would not be littering the lawn. She would look over towards the goblet and silently wonder what was considered "worthy", a confident part of her knew that she was "worthy" at least more so than her peers who cried at the drop of a hat, were too busy in their own personal dramas. They were weak and easily trifled with, they lacked the fortitude necessary to be successful and their attempt would be an embarrassment on their school.

Did Erin bring anything to the potluck?

No, she lacked the means by which to cook and what she would have made would have been a threat to public health and decency. However the strange, alien dishes submitted by her peers was a... sight to say the least. Some she recognized of course, but international cuisine was not her forte, however she recognized most and dishes containing 'meat' of some form. She elves fussed over the dishes set forth yet she hardly trusted it, her paranoid nature for once behooved her even if it left her hangry.

Just a trick of the lighting they said...

[font=book antiqua]It was cool outside, but not in the dormitory bathroom, which Anastasia had taken over. She had been inside for two hours now, and frankly, she didn't care if her dorm mates wanted to come in. She wanted to look beautiful for this first ball she was attending. So Anastasia was in her bathrobe and slippers, sitting in front of the mirror styling her black hair. She had opted for a bun with floral decorations, to go with the theme.
With her hair done, lacquered and all, Anastasia carefully put on her long green dress. It was a ruffled dress that the girl had altered herself. Still in her slippers, she put on mascara and dark lipstick, bringing out the paleness of her skin. Anastasia wanted to make an impression. She then took out a silver mask with velvet lining from a box that belonged to her mother. Anastasia had always wanted to wear this mask and now was the time. She put the mask around her head and hid the straps in her hair. Ready, she finally came out of the bathroom.
Anastasia walked over to her bed and grabbed a pair of black pumps and long gloves of the same colour. She put them on and took a few steps, turned around. She was officially ready. Anastasia had heard of dances at Hogwarts. They almost always ended in disaster. She was slightly afraid of that, but hey, maybe chaos could be fun?

With her robes in one hand and her other hand on the railing of the staircase, Ana walked down the steps to the Great Hall like a princess. At the same time, she was looking for students from Mahoutokoro. They were the students who looked the calmest of the invited schools. Anastasia entered the Great Hall and almost came straight out. Too much colour, too much joy. Of course, that was a bit of a theme but hey.
For one evening, she could make an effort and stay. At worst, she would go out if the atmosphere became unbearable. Anastasia reached for the food and grabbed a raspberry macaroon. She then sat down next to a bunch of white lilies, waiting for something to happen.

Jacob was one of those people who wanted to compete in the Hexwizard Tournament, he thinks that in the overall scheme of things that if he studied and practiced his magic then he will be in the Tournament. He was wearing dress robes that are red in color and was a tuxedo-like robe. He wanted to show pride in his house from the moment he walked. He wanted to get a date but he couldn't find anyone who wanted to go with him, so he had to go alone.

The thing that lead to him going to the Goblet of Fire was something that his father had said while watching the Triwizard Tournament as a teenager, that he wanted to have him do great things in the future. Jacob had big shoes to fill with his father's reputation as an Auror and the fact that he defeated the Dark Witch Bathilda Haggot as a young man. He practiced his spell work and dueling prowess, to prepare for the Hexwizard Tournament due to the high amount of risk that the Tournament had in the selection of the champions for each house, but the Blossom Ball was about getting to know the rest of the schools and getting to know the students in those school and the way he would do that would be considered polite and cordial.

Jacob wonders as he walks across the Great Hall, what others will think if he is selected as he knows as once he is selected by the Goblet of Fire there is no turning back. Once the Goblet has made its selection the Goblet gives a binding magical contract that must be fulfilled as he wants to enter, Jacob knows the risks of the Tournament and he understands that it will be a dangerous endeavor filled with dangers the likes of which he can only imagine, but he imagines holding the Hexwizard Cup, the cup that is given to the Tournament winner at the end of the Tournament.

He had been avoiding Winnie Harper since the moment he had made landfall in the Great Lake. He had confined himself to the privacy of his cabin and spent these past days reading, anxiously awaiting this moment and avoiding the prying eyes of his schoolmate Jiro... no, that was not right. Hero... well, something like that. He spent an afternoon galivanting the grounds in a bathrobe to avoid the boy's meddling because he thought he had found some sort of love connection. In truth, he was not wrong but the situation was a bit more complicated than "talk to her."

Something that people may perhaps come to one day realize -- wizards do not play particularly fair. The boon of "knowing people" or in his family's case "owning people" he had become aware of the ambitions of his fellow wizard to demonstrate their superiority in terms of blood, heritage and ultimately promise. It was not likely, it was certain that the goblet was to be mettled with. He was certain his name was to be drawn from the goblet, there was no "better" choice. The only problem was, he knew in part the trials that lay ahead for the allegedly "chosen" champion. How a dear one is declared, is chosen and is ultimately taken.

Why else would he write Levi Drakos?

Yet he had been troubled these past few days. He had erased the name he had written and submitted another. Did the goblet know? Did the organizers know? Winnie was nothing less than vocal about her abandonment He had written the name of an alleged ex. He had dutifully avoided her since he moved to another school after the "tragic" death of his cousin who finally succumbed to a dark curse. Appearances and lies, enough to fool anyone he arrogantly believed and he only needed to wait until after his name was called. After his dear one is proclaimed. Sure, Winnie would be upset but she would forgive and forget, maybe just forget.

He was wearing white, dressed in the ridiculous fashion of a pureblood or some anime antagonist. His red hair, still in need of a haircut was slicked back from his face with an abundance of hair gel. He had brought some flowers as well as another small item that he was holding in his pocket. Yes, the flowers were intended for Winnie, he wanted to arm her with something softer than a fist.

Did he bring anything to the pot luck? He had something delivered, he was no cook and he did not pretend to be. Souvlaki, a popular Greek fast food consisting of small pieces of meat and sometimes vegetables grilled on a skewer. It is usually eaten straight off the skewer while still hot. They were more lukewarm than hot, but they still had good flavor and for once he could eat something in the Great Hall. To date he had never been seen eating in the Great Hall, the fact that food is regularly "tainted" and Pride's own adventures with tainted goods has left him rightfully "uncertain." He knew where his food came from, that it had not been "altered" yet and that it tasted damn good. So a trio of skewers would find their way into his hands. Yes, three. The boy was ravenous, he could care less about his cousin playing the role of a wallflower now that she had survived her affliction. Thrilling, a half-breed from the part of the family everyone avoids lives another day.

"Nothing wrong with it yet," he would announce with a mouth full of meat. Perhaps one... no four more.

Date: April 2nd, 2022
Winnie Harper arrived at the Great Hall with a ruffle of her large ballgown. Yes it was the one that had been shoved inside the satchel that Mathias Pride had tossed at her. She had considered tossing the elaborate gown into the Ravenclaw common room's fireplace, but she couldn't bring herself to cast the present aside. Mathias had given it to her for a reason, and she needed to know what sort of game he was playing. Was it some sort of magical fabric that would disappear during the night? It was beautiful, she'd give him that, better quality than anything in her wardrobe. It had to have cost him a small fortune... It even came with perks! She had managed to slide her wand into what seemed to be a built-in wand pocket. It was as if this dress were made for wizards.

Her hair had been loosely curled, cascading down her back. She had carefully placed tiny flower pinks into her loose locks. The top of her head seemed rather bare, but it was for a reason; she had requested her date, Levi, make her a flower crown. She had seen his handiwork and was rather impressed with it. On her neck, she wore the locket that her Grandparents had given her for her birthday. It was heart-shaped, and when she opened it she could hear the voice of a loved one.

"PUMPKIN! I told you; you can't come to the ball. Stop following me!" She paused to scold the fat orange tabby that was trotting happily behind her. Pumpkin simply cocked his head to the side, a look of confusion crossing his features before he meowed. She rolled her eyes and continued on. It seemed her cat had become her shadow the minute she had slid the gown on.

Levi had informed her that he would be running a bit late, he was likely still taming his hair to sit ever so not-perfectly. Well, whatever he spent his time on, it was clearly working for him, so she wouldn't question his process. She carried a tray of cupcakes in her hands, the same kind she had baked for her birthday party; strawberry shortcake cupcakes, each topped off with a freshly cut strawberry. She paused again when she grew closer to the potluck table and saw a familiar boy hunched over the table. His white and golden robes looked perfect on him, of course. She felt her heart sink inside her chest.

She was considering turning around so she wouldn't have to deal with him, when suddenly her plump cat ran forward, crying and chirping for 'orange boy's' attention. Despite having been kidnapped by the boy, it seemed Pumpkin was quite fond of him, especially after meeting the human boy he had seemingly decided was his mortal enemy; Levi Drakos. "Traitor." Winnie grumbled under her breath as she watched the cat try to paw at his 'dad'.

Straightening her posture, she walked towards the table and slammed the plate of cupcakes next to Mathias. She stared directly down at the confectionaries before withdrawing, a hand flipping her hip-length hair upwards in Mathias' direction. He could easily dodge the ginger locks, but if he didn't he might have received a faceful of hair, complete with a sweet strawberry scent. It was seemingly her way of acknowledging the boy without actually acknowledging him. She wasn't petty. Not at all.

[ @Henry Knight@Eun-ji Lee Hunt as herself and Ye-jun Lee ]
DATE 02/04/22
OUTFIT [x]
arriving, talking to Henry,
waiting for Eun-ji and Ye-jun

On her way down to the Great Hall from her dorm, Lucia caught sight of her newly-blonde reflection in just about every window she passed; and in a castle as magnificant as Hogwarts, there were plenty of windows. She couldn't help but feel a thrill each time she saw herself. She was Lucia, but she was not. She'd never looked more Veela than she did here, now, today. Maybe if she'd been paying more attention to what the descision to go blonde for the night meant rather than her own likeness, she might have realised that she'd essentially done a Cinderella. While the fairytale princess had disguised herself with a magic gown, Lucia had done so with a hair colour-changing spell and a nice dress. And yet, she was still herself. She was a different version of herself, one who didn't hide. She was in search of an evening of pretending not to pretend, and it looked like she might get it.

The Great Hall was covered in flowers. So many flowers. It took Lucia's mind back to an errand she had done with Eun-ji a while ago where the Ravenclaw had taught her to make flower crowns. Sadly, she couldn't remember a lot of Eun-ji's first lesson, but maybe there would be time for a second class today if they went to the crafting area outside, which Lucia had caught glimpses of through the same windows she'd admired her reflection in. As well as space for dancing and tables full of food, there were some table that must be for people to place dishes they'd brought with them. Lucia herself hadn't brought anything, but was now regretting it. Well, it was too late now. She looked up and was amazed to see that someone had managed to modify the enchantment on the ceiling to create the illusion of fireworks far above the dance floor. "Wow."

In the centre of the room was the Goblet. It drew the eye like a jewel in a flowerbed, but Lucia forced herself to look away. She wouldn't be putting her name in for the Hexiwizard. She'd heard what had happened at the last two Triwizard Tournaments, and wasn't eager to be in the middle of another disaster. She'd just content herself with cheering for Hogwarts and hoping that nobody would get hurt. Which seemed unlikely today, at least: the small tent that had been set up in a corner would surely help - and heal, as the name said - people in the case of a situation as had happened at the Samhain Ball. And was that Henry standing at it? Lucia made her way over to him, keeping an eye out for Eun-ji and Ye-jun, who both completed the trio they'd formed for tonight, as she did so. "Henry!" She waved at the Slytherin boy. "This looks incredible. And I love the healing tent. Merlin knows we could have done with one last time."

When Eun-ji and/or Ye-jun arrived, Lucia would wave over to them to show them where she was. "There's Eun-ji/Ye-jun! I should go." She'd smile at Henry. "Again, this is amazing! I hope it goes beautifully." Then she'd go over to her friend(s). "Doesn't it look wonderful?"

Writing as NPC River Fayre
River had a big bowl of steaming Soupe à l'oignon, (onion soup) her blue dress that she had chosen before leaving France, was knee length and was a little tight around the center, almost like a coreset was built into it. while River loved maps she also liked a little fashion, meaning that she had gotten the latest model dress she could afford.

The French girl went to the potluck table and put her big bowl down, she stepped back wondering if it was really safe to just leave food on a open table, what if some trouble maker out a potion or something in it? nah, no one would do that would they? she shook off the thought and tried to calm her mind down, this was just a big party, and it would be fun, nothing would go wrong.
as she looked around she seen the healing corner, maybe they did think something would go wrong.

She tried to cool her brain off by simply looking around, taking in the beauty of the British school, she looked at the banners of each house school, was that a peace offering? or a war call for the magic schools?

𝕮lad in an exquisite lavender purple gown designed and tailored to fit her frame perfectly, the youngest Heiress the House of Miller stepped in to the entrance of the Great Hall with all the confidence and regal air of a distinguished Pureblood witch raised to impress. Regina had been trained for this very moment, all of those arduous dancing lessons and etiquette back at the manor would pay off at last. She was determined to not embarrass her family's name at the most awaited event of the year, especially with the presence of other foreign magical schools at Hogwarts. Regina was hear to enjoy the festivity, perhaps even schmooze with other well-mannered and high-standing figures of the Pureblood community.

The ravenette was taken aback by the glorious and opulent decorations--clearly the organisers hadn't held themselves back at all. It was magnificent, enough to take one's breath away at the impression of it all. Regina was already weaving in between the crowd to reach the tables layered with food and drinks, and she nodded politely at the few faces she recognised. Her steps came to a halt at a more vacant corner, waiting silently for her date to arrive. Regina hoped with all her might that Faye wasn't going to embarrass her by doing something utterly Muggle and ridiculous once she arrived, like maybe cartwheeling for a grand entrance. She held back an indignant shiver at the thought, because Faye was certainly very capable of doing just that.

She could only pray to Merlin, Morganna and all other holy magical beings that the redhead would remember the proper etiquette crash course she'd provided for her. Regina was not looking forward to lose her face at such a grand event like this because of Faye's whimsical and recklessly carefree behaviour. It was already bad enough that she'd decided to attend the Ball with a Muggleborn of all people--her parents would surely be furious if they knew. But something had compelled Regina to accept Faye's invitation and, well, she would be lying if she said she wasn't looking forward to...spending time with the other girl.

Clair was rather surprised that she was indeed at the ball, last ball she had stayed in her dorm and acted like the was going on, she had done homework and read books, another words her life had not changed.

Clair had put on a red crimson dress that she rarely wore, to be honest, she did not have many dresses she liked skirts more, she was able to move better in them, for her shoes Clair had gotten a new pair just for the occasion over winter break she had bought them, despite what her mother said about the idea of wearing trainers to a ball, Clair's idea was that she could wear them again afterwards. on her neck was the Lover's Locket that she had gotten with Simon Kincaid in Hogsmeade. Her hair was pulled up into a bun, the bun was fancier then the normal buns she wore, but it was still a bun.

As Clair stood there, she thought of looking at the food tables, but she figured she should see if her ball date was here yet, Looking around she looked for the boy in a Crimson suit, she guessed that he would be there, after all he had asked her out, could he have forgotten? that was a long time ago that he had asked her, and even if she had thought about him, he could had forgotten about her, though she doubted he would have.

and so she started her great search for the Boy in a crimson suit, would he find her? or she find him?
