──────────────────────────── APPEARANCE Reducio Emma is a what she considers normal and maybe even a bit boring looking. She is an average height for her age, 4 foot 8 and weighs roughly 48 kgs. Her pale white skin becomes red and burns with what seems a minimal amount of sunshine and causes her to frequently apply sunscreen no matter what weather or season. This application is also rushed at times so there have been more than a few mornings she will rush around with some white(r) areas of her skin before someone points it out or she looks in the mirror. The features she loves (or hates depending on the day) most is her blazing red hair, that is pin straight although humidity can add a bit of a wave, and her blue grey eyes. Really she loves and hates her hair for the same reason; They help distinguish her from others. It's a somewhat unique combination that not many people see. And of course there are many who love to exclaim over red hair especially recently. No longer is she taunted with carrot-top but instead she has people coming up, stroking her hair and telling her it's such a beautiful color. If she's in a good mood, then it's fine if a little embarrassing but on her darker days she just wants everyone to leave her alone and to be able to hide in a corner without being easily discovered. ──────────────────────────── PERSONALITY Reducio Most days Emma is a happy ray of sunshine, although quiet and happy to stay in the background. She truly is an introvert although she does require some human interaction to feel satisfied. It's just that that interaction drains her and she needs time to herself, whether with a book or listening to music to recharge her batteries. Another thing to note is that Emma hates getting in trouble. She feels like she's a disappointment who's also an awful, absolutely terrible person whenever she does something wrong or lets her temper get ahead of her She doesn't speak up much, but she does have the typical Irish/redhead temper. She can handle a lot of things but if you push her too far, do something she considers very wrong or try to interact with her when her batteries are too low, she does explode. Most times her temper flares and then after some quiet time, she will cool down, but there are other times where it just gets under her skin and will not let go of her. In that case, she'll be in a bit of a mood, mumbling under her breath and pacing for several days. Once these tempers flare out, she's very embarrassed and constantly second guessing things in her head. But she will apologize. Emma can also live a bit in her head, constantly having attacks of conscience or second-guessing her actions. There have been nights where she'll fall asleep, only to wake up and remember something that happened years ago only to dwell on it for ages. You can tell that she's in one of these spells when she's even quieter than normal, and hiding herself away. Emma realizes now it's likely she has some anxiety but has not been seen by a psychiatrist because she keeps it all inside and feels that this is normal, and she really is fine. On her darkest days or when overloaded with people, Emma can be a bit louder than normal, while maintaining a steady inner dialogue that is overly critical of others and constantly sarcastic. Which then starts a cycle of feeling bad for her her thoughts even if she doesn't share them. She can usually shake herself out of these moods with quiet time or just a peaceful night of rest, but it may take time and she may be snappier than usual in the meantime. There really seems to be no rhyme or reason behind when she as an excellent day where she's feeling as high as can be to a sudden plunge into the most horrible days she's experienced. ──────────────────────────── HISTORY Reducio Emma Briget Wynn is the first born of Macey and Christian Wynn. She was born in quite the rain storm and her parents like to say that that coupled with her red hair, and Irish nationality has led to a fiery temper. She was born on March 10th, 2010 in Belfast, Ireland where she continues to live. Emma lives just down the road from her paternal grandparents and could frequently be found at their house, curled up in a chair or next to her grandfather with a book in hand. In fact, that was where she would spend her days while both parents worked before starting school. Spending time with her grandmother in the garden tending plants was fun but her all time favorite activity is reading, and having discussions with her grandfather about those books, even as early as her first picture books. Even then he took her ramblings seriously and it's a feeling that Emma has not and will not forget. Two years after Emma was born, the twins, Bryony and Zachery were born. Emma wasn't sure what to do with them and honestly is still having difficulty figuring them out. The three siblings are like night and day, and Emma will be the first to admit that at times the twins overwhelm her which has caused....some friction. But time to herself in her room on her comfy bed or talking with her grandfather calms her down and she will gladly apologize for her part in the whole affair. Emma is a quiet but anxious child, calmest in the corner of the room observing. This stayed true in school where she struggled to talk to her peers and would instead glance at them from the side or top of whatever book she had handy. It wasn't until the third or fourth week of school that someone stumbled into her, and invited her along on their made-up adventure. It didn't take long before Emma opened up and started joining animatedly into conversations with this new best friend and from there, she expanded her group. At the same time, some odd but easily explainable things were happening. She would place a pencil or notepad or book somewhere only to need that exact thing and have it be nearby. Emma could have sworn she placed that pen on her nightstand table but when she tried to stretch for it to write down that important thought, it was under her arm. A simple case of memory, and not something to worry about (too much). It would be at age 7 that Emma would display the most obvious sign of magic although nobody believed her when she told the truth. At school that day, Emma and her best friend had been being made fun of by a group of other students, and as is the case, she took it until she couldn't anymore. Her fiery temperament took over and there was a teacher close enough to catch the tail end of the whole event. Needless to say, Emma received a detention. This was mortifying to Emma who had never done anything so wrong or received a detention in her young life. Ashamed and fearing that this would lead to a new life of crime and punishment, Emma trudged home, avoiding her grandparents where she usually stopped after school, before placing the letter that needed her parents signature on it on the kitchen counter and going to hide in the back of her parent's wardrobe. She pushed herself as far back as she possibly could, not wanting to face the lecture she was sure she deserved and the mortification of being such a troublemaker. Her grandparents of course called her parents, worried that Emma had not shown up after school. Macey and Christian rushed home and began searching frantically for Emma. At one point, Emma even saw the light of her mother's flashlight shine on her in the cabinet and her mother's eyes land on her but strangely her mother just continued to search and call her name. Sure that her parents were now playing some sort of game to make her feel even worse, Emma continued to hide. It wasn't until the desperate need to use the toilet crept up on her that she was able to force herself from her hiding spot. By this time her parents had moved outside the house and were searching the neighborhood. Emma finished in the toilet, and returned to her room where she fell asleep crying, certain everyone hated her now. Her parents returned and before calling the police, did one more quick peek through the house. Angry at finding Emma in her bed, they were even angrier when Emma "lied" about what had happened, her mother adamant that she had not been in the wardrobe. She was required to not only do her detention but also do some extra chores and was grounded for three weeks. This caused no end of frustration and anxiety as Emma couldn't understand why she as being punished so harshly when she was just telling the truth. After this incident, Emma was determined to stay out of trouble and did everything she could to ensure nothing like that ever happened again. It took several weeks for her to calm down and not be jumpy around everyone and everything. Three years later where Emma stayed out of trouble and studied to ensure that she was always performing excellently in her studies, there was a knock on the door and a stranger stated he wished to talk to Macey, Christian and Emma. Once more Emma was terrified that she had done something wrong or caused some problem but she didn't know how or why. The stranger sat them all down and stated they were from Hogwarts School and that Emma was a witch. Of course her parents dismissed the stranger and even Emma had a certain disbelief. After all, magic was all well and good in books but that was all it was. It was only when said stranger performed an act so amazing and obviously magic that all three truly believed. The stranger than explained that there was a school where Emma would learn to control her magic and enhance it. Once the stranger had explained everything including how to board the Hogwarts Express, they took their leave and Emma was left to struggle with her newfound secret. She very rarely if ever kept secrets from her friend, never mind her best friend, so this made for a bit of a turbulent summer, both internally and externally as the guilt boiled up and over. But no matter that Emma was hesitant to attend the school and have to start over once again in a setting where she would have no knowledge of the subject matter, her parents insisted she needed to go. No mention was made of the "lie" she had been punished for and Emma was not sure if her parents even remembered it or if it was a factor in their insistence. So with her parents and siblings, she found herself in Diagon Alley which was like nothing she had ever seen. It was quite overwhelming and Emma was quite ready to return to her normal life, thank you very much. But again, her parents insisted it was best for her and that she would come to enjoy herself once she was there. So with reluctance, she boarded the Hogwarts Express and set out for her first year at Hogwarts. Emma was shocked to be appointed Prefect in her first year, not really sure if she was up to the duties, and then she became a duellist, and life became busy. But she didn't let that stop her from finding things to read or learning new things about her new world. For three years, she managed her prefect duties, and duelling with her desire to read and learn. At some points it was harder than others, but she managed it well enough. Then the summer before her fourth year, the world shifted. Summer camp meant going home for a brief period of time, going to summer camp, and then going back home before returning to Hogwarts. She enjoyed her time with her family, especially catching up with her grandfather in person rather via letters. They were able to chat more easily about the books they had read since her last holiday. Then she headed off to summer camp, where she had a very fun time. Coming home though, she was ready for some downtime and spent a few days just reading wherever she could find a quiet space. This included her grandparents house. Her siblings didn't avoid the house but preferred to spent most of the day with their friends rather than their grandparents. One day Emma had gone to her grandparents, expecting to find her grandfather and discuss the book she had just finished last night. Her mother and grandmother had gone shopping in town, and her father was working from home. She walked into their house, calling out for her grandfather as she ran through, looking for him in his most usual haunts. She found him outside, seemingly looking at the garden. Coming to a halt, she began to talk but he gave no sign of hearing her. Walking closer, Emma knew something was wrong, and she thought she knew what but her brain just shut down, protecting her. Running back through the house and down the road to her house, Emma screamed for her father, even as she scrambled up the stairs, tripping as she did so. Her father came running, shocked to hear his usual quiet bookworm screaming. Emma could only get out the words "Grandfather" before she turned and ran back out of the house, retracing her steps. When they arrived, she stepped back, letting her father close, but knowing even as her father attempted CPR that he was gone. No more was her favorite grandparent going to be there to discuss novels, and make recommendations. She attended the funeral before returning to Hogwarts, and when she returned, she just couldn't fathom keeping up as she had been with the pressing weight of grief. So instead she turned her mind to healing, and all of the ways she could have saved her grandfather if only she had known more magic and been there. Her parents assured her that he had passed from a heart attack, and there was nothing she could have done, even with magic to prevent it, but Emma was determined. Emma resigned as prefect, just not feeling like she could handle the issues that arose in her current state.
