Daemon Cross - First Year - Hufflepuff
heyyy guys I'm in the hospital again - kinda hard to make the words go, idk when I'll reply to rps
Nicknames: Cross, Dae, Mon, Pantalaimon (like the daemon in The Amber Spyglass......get it?)
House: Hufflepuff
Age: 11
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: August 26, 20010
Nationality: English
Sexuality: nunya
SPECIES: Human, pending werewolf
Dominant Hand: Left
School Year: First year
Blood Status: Full blood
Food Allergies: None
Thestrals: no
Patronus: no
Amortentia: Cheap tobacco, shoe polish, leather, and wood.
Mirror of Erised: Him and Paris becoming major quidditch players
Wand: 29,7 cm chestnut wood and phoenix feather
Boggart: His parents breaking up
Zodiac: Libra
Personality Type: Campaigner (ENFP-A)
Enneagram Type: Type 9 is also called The Peacemaker. Nines like to keep a low profile and let the people around them set the agenda.
Physical Description: Cross likes wearing collared jackets because they remind him of his grandparents. He has a faint scar (caused by magic, more on that after validation) across his face which starts at his right eyebrow and goes down to his left cheekbone (just missed his eye). There are tiny freckles which show up on his skin during the summer - he doesn't like them, hence the three different types of sunscreen in his bag. His coats are usually covered in buttons and patches from all the anime and games conventions his family took him to. They are purely decorational and as such do not serve any purpose save for aesthetics. After much begging, his parents let him get his ears pierced - two tiny golden studs.
Mental Description: Cross tends to keep to himself for the most part, but when there is someone more introverted then him, he will be warm and friendly. He talks in a slow, quiet voice, a faint smile constantly gracing his lips. It's as if everything he sets his eyes on delights him, and he takes a silent pleasure in admiring it all. His family taught him to be 'a gentle giant' and he acts like one, treating everyone around him with kindness, and trying to put himself in other people's shoes. When looking at new situations, he tends to take a step back and remove himself from focus while assessing what to do next. If someone were to be unkind to him, Cross would simply avoid them from then on - he doesn't like confrontation, and will try to get out of conflict as peacefully as possible. He is not one to throw hands, however if someone were to repeatedly pick on him or his friends, he would:
1. politely ask them to stop
2. ask them to stop again
3. take it to a higher authority
4. if the higher authority does nothing, and having a civilized discussion doesn't work, he'll enlist the help of his friends and take on the threat as a united front
He loves the kill them with kindness strategy and will use it as often as he can.
Negative Traits:
Cross is very easily intimidated by any figure of authority he meets, and will obey them to a fault, despite what they might tell him to do. Having grown up in a strict household, he often has trouble letting loose. Little details like 'dont step on the grass' have been ingrained in his mind, and when those set in stone rules change, he panicks.
"You're not allowed to step on the grass"
"Don't be ridiculous, how else would we get to Herbology??"
"I don't know but don't step on the grass. We'll find a way around"
"For God's sake Cross, WE'RE ALLOWED TO STEP ON THE GRASS"
Cross: *proceeds to go around the entire school looking for a way to not step on the grass, uses a spell to make himself float so he doesn't step on the grass, or just panicks and skips herbology*
More on that, he has trouble talking about what is bothering him. While kind, his parents hadn't been emotionally and mentally ready to have a kid as they were still working through their own problems. So he had to learn to bottle up his emotions from a very young age as to not get screamed at. Even if you see him crying, he will not be able to tell you why. He will try to for a couple minutes, but even telling you a small detail will leave him feeling exposed and vulnerable - after which he will avoid the heck out of you.
He is bad at communication. Oftentimes he will let something that bothers him eat away for months before telling you, meanwhile he'd just avoid you.
So bottom line is that he is great in situations which require him to be mature and calculated, but terrible in situations which demand he has emotional intelligence, or break patterns already estably (the grass, the talking about his feelings, the listening to adults).
Biography:
Pre-Hogwarts: He grew up in the heart of London suburb. It was a place where many old wizarding families resided, which is why he had no problem making magic friends as a kid. His parents worked long laborious jobs which made them come home late and leave early. He was an only child, but was so close with his best friend Paris that people often joked they were long lost brothers. Every sunday, Paris, his parents, and Cross with his parents all met up - the parents played poker and wizard chess while Paris and Cross played basketball in the front yard. It was a peaceful, honest to god life. Him and Paris were in their region's quidditch team, and both grew up with a passion for the sport. Their parents took them to quidditch games with every chance they got, hoping they would grow up to be on the national team.
Cross' mother owned a potions shop which was very well respected around their area. His dad worked in the ministry, mind wiping muggles who'd seen the wrong things at the wrong time. For the most part, Cross was left to his own devices, often ending up having to fix dinner for himself and do his homework alone. It wasn't too bad, but it did get lonely from time to time. It was one of the reasons he was looking forward to hogwarts - it would mean company all the time.
First Instance of Magic: Please describe your character's first instance of accidental underaged wandless magic.
Cross' first instance of magic - picture this. His mother and father's tenth wedding anniversary. A modest but beautifully decorated cake (made by his grandmother - she owns a bakery on Diagon Alley). The cake was a little too close to the edge of the table. So of course it was inevitable that it would topple over Cross, who had somehow managed to move the table. The young boy froze with his hands up before him, as if to catch the cake (which would have probably ended up as even more of a disaster). The cake, instead of falling, by god's grace and mercy, didn't fall. Instead, it froze in midair, as if Cross was using the force. Five seconds passed. Six.
"MAMAAA"
"Cross for god's sa-"
Anyway, the cake was safe. And Cross got a speech about why we dont rollerblade indoors.

Reducio
When Paris first got scratched, absolutely no one believed him. The young man had a tendency to tell tall tales- this would be one of the many instances that the tendency would come back to bite his rear end. You see, things tended to become much bigger and scarier when Paris told them. Setting a matchstick on fire turned into the entire kitchen going up in flames, developing a cold turned into cancer, four pages of homework became ten. And so, the dog which attacked him couldn't possible have had 'glowing golden eyes' and 'been the size of a small car'. It wasn't too soon afterwards that Paris forgot about it. Sure, his leg still hurt and the bandages had to be changed out quite frequently, but it was a pretty nasty bite so that was to be expected. He bled a lot. That should have been what tipped everyone off. But no one believed a thing our young man was saying.
So Cross and Paris went on with their lives after a few days, sleepovers as usual, staying up to talk about girls and talk smack about people one their quidditch team.
What wasn't usual were the loud popping sounds which came from where Paris was sleeping one night, or the increasingly heavy breathing, the groans of pain, and finally growling. Cross woke up to trashing, and the sound of cloth ripping. Ebony claws which gleamed in the low light tearing through the knitted covers which had been securely tucked around Cross' friend.
Paris wasn't a big wolf, but he was fast. And he sought blood.
Cross didn't remember how he made it out the door. The whole night was a blur really. It came back in flashes sometimes. The heavy weight on top of his chest, kicking out his legs as teeth dug into his skin, the feeling of dagger like claws trying to catch a grip on his face.
Cross' parents had been woken by the commotion. Three minutes to get the door open, two to lock Paris inside.
It was safe to say the two boys weren't left alone anymore after that. The interesting part? This was a month before Hogwarts started.
They'd already been shopping, bought all their supplies. Everyone was confused, and scared. Cross, who had been an outspoken vegetarian before the whole shebang was craving meat more and more. He hadn't said anything, least his mother would worry herself sick. But maybe the most concerning of all? Paris and Cross hadn't been allowed in the same room since.
Come the day of boarding the train, Cross had swept the whole platform looking for his friend, moving uncomfortably as some of his scars still ached. There was no Paris. He was nowhere to be seen.
Over the course of the past month, everyone has kept a weary eye on Cross. He'd been told to take his wolf's bane potion right before the full moon, and that his teachers would instruct him on what to do afterwards. His parents had seemed relieved to see him board the train.

Daemon Cross - First Year - Hufflepuff
| - | Cross' luggage was chasing him down the train corridors. Which, he was willing to bet, hadn't happened to a lot of people (especially at seven am in the morning). Whatever spell his dad had cast on it before they'd left home made the trunk very, very determined to never leave his side. Even if that meant hovering above his head in all it's ripped up, I-Was-Bought-During-The-Great-Recession glory. Finding a compartment wasn't as bad as last year, when both him and Paris had been determined to find a place to have all to themselves, so that an epic tournament of Cups and Wizards could commence. But that problem wouldn't present itself this year. Sliding open the apple wood doors, Cross slipped inside the compartment with a meek smile, offering a wave to the girl already there. "Mind if I join you?" he asked, hovering in the doorway. Daemon Cross was a strange boy. Tall and lanky with a head of curly hair which was slowly but surely turning into an afro. He was well dressed for someone with such a dusty trunk, expensive looking muggle clothing hanging loosely off his frame, and a faint scent of peaches and mint surrounding him. A long chestnut wood wand was tucked behind his ear, the tip poking out through the mass of curly hair. |
