The Great Crash of Twenty Twenty One
| - | Cross was doing everything wrong. Or rather, he was doing everything right, but the teacher would not have been very pleased, were she to look over and see him in that moment. The figurines they were supposed to have cast Tarantallegra on and then used to practice the Finite Incantatem charm were dancing away, it's true. But there was no counterspelling happening. In fact, quite the opposite. Cross had entrapped his figurine in a circle of books and scrolls, and was perched on top of a levitating chair, making the tiny wooden doll perform a fiery Fox Trot. Only one of the two was having a good time, and it was clearly not the doll. "Now a bow" he urged it. The doll, being nonsentient, kept dancing away. Cross raised an eyebrow at it. Was there a spell which would compel it to bow? It was worth a try anyhow. One of his charms books was perched at the very top of one of the piles entrapping his latest form of amusement. However, it was just a tiny bit out of reach. And Cross (genius of the century) would have rather eaten his hat than gotten off the floating chair. So, like any normal person, he didn't get up. Instead, he proceeded to reach over, stretching out his arms as far as they could go. The tips of his fingers just brushed the cover of the book. (visual representation) There was a great crash. And all the books, scrolls, spare figurines, and ink vials on Cross' desk went tumbling to the floor. |

The Great Crash of Twenty Twenty One
Helping @Daemon Cross with a cover story
It would have been okay if it had just been the books. While the books created quite a loud thud with their heaviness, they would have survived the fall unscathed. The figures, if toppling on top of the the books and to the floor would probably meet no worse fate than having to dance at the expense of Second Years learning their spells. However, it was the ink vials that could cause a problem - at least in Simon's quick thinking perspective.
He quickly brushed his arm along his workspace area, causing his own books and notebook and a quill (but thankfully his own ink was at the other side) to the ground, falling right next to the other Hufflepuff's belongings, just moments after. Ah, the quick reflexes of a dhampir.
"Wow, sudden gust of wind there or something," he said as he glanced over at the other Hufflepuff and gave a small, subtle smile. He bypassed the things that were scattered all over the flooring and walked over to the window, shutting the one that was slightly ajar as if trying to seal in his alibi that he had created to try and save his housemate. It wouldn't be like he'd get in TERRIBLE trouble or anything, but still....could a professor ever really get mad when it was the wind? One couldn't predict what the wind was going to do.
Simon then came back to his seat and knelt down to begin to pick things up. "I tell you, when you put a castle right in the middle of the Scottish Highlands...one never knows. One never knows."
Be kind to one another. (*iNPC is Miles Thatcher)
