Illowy wasn't sure what it was about the Great Lake that made it her ideal retreat. Whether it was the inky black water, the cool Scottish breeze that skimmed over it, or the solemn quiet that seemed to consume the area, it was always her go to place. The girl sat alone, perched on one of the great boulders that rested at the edge of the water. Perhaps it was still a bit too chilly to be outside for too long; even dressed in a her thick house sweater, jeans and her winter cloak. The cold was hardly at the forefront of her mind though.

Now added to the collection of terrible memories and experiences that she'd rather obliviate from her mind was the attacked on the Slytherin house. Even thinking about it still made her skin itch and burn. The girl shuddered on her perch, though the cold had nothing to do with it, as she pulled her sleeves low over her hands. Never in her life did she think this was what going to wizarding school was going to be like. She knew the stories from when her mother was here during the Second Wizarding War, but that was so long ago. Surely the school would've become safer by now.

Clearly that was wishful thinking.

Two years of school, three near death experiences... it was becoming overwhelming and frustrating. But this past event was even more so. In spite of how highly she thought of herself for being quick to action and a good fighter, always paying close attention, she was taken down so quickly; and all because she let her temper get the best of her because of some stupid boy who probably didn't even know his left from his right. It was infuriating! Waking up in the Hospital Wing? Mortifying! She hadn't even the chance to put up a decent fight... even worse, was her doubt that anyone had even bothered to help her. Illowy wasn't exactly plentiful in the friend department.

Who could blame them? She couldn't think of a single reason any one of them would even care enough to try to protect her. They probably found her weakness humorous.

The girl raked a hand through confused tresses before picking up a small stone at her feet. Projecting all of her anger and frustration in the stone and chucked it as hard as she possibly could into the lake with the loud grunt, watching it fly before plunking into the depths.

"You bloody weak mess..." she muttered to herself.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Interacting with @Illowy Magnard
The Gryffindor common room was far too noisy for Ivy's liking, and the study room was full, as was the library, so she retreated to her favourite place in the entire of the Hogwarts grounds.
Sitting with her back against a tree, Ivy pulled A History Of Magic from her leather bag and drew her knees up to her chest, ready to start the reading task that had been assigned to her the day before. Grimacing at the thought of the monotonous task, she flipped the thick textbook open to where she had left it the night before and was about to start reading when a girl sitting on a stone boulder at the edge of the Lake caught her eye.
Ivy frowned. She had thought she was alone, but it looked as though the girl had as well. Also, didn't the girl know that it was dangerous to sit so close to the edge of the water? What if she fell? The girl's clothing was comprised of thick sweaters, which were sure to be heavy, especially in the water. There was no one else other than Ivy herself and this girl. If the girl couldn't swim, then she was doomed, as Ivy couldn't swim either, and it was too far for anyone to hear screams and for Ivy to run for help. Ivy had to warn her.
Pulling her thick, fluffy coat around her tighter with a shiver, Ivy placed her book back into her bag and slung it over her shoulder. Brushing her straight brown hair over her shoulders, she made her way down to the boulders, feeling the sharp sticks and stones through her worn black boots. Ivy wondered what the girl was doing down here. Perhaps she, too, couldn't bear the loudness of the castle and came here to seek some peace. As the weather had turned cold, no one came down to the Lake, as the place was particularly vulnerable to strong winds therefore, choppy, cold water. Non-swimmers would find themselves in big trouble if they fell in; hence, why the place was so abandoned. Even the Squid hadn't made an appearance for weeks.
Even now, a strong wind swept through the place, rattling Ivy and nearly throwing her off her feet. Tentatively placing a foot on one of the boulders, she wobbled until she found her centre, trying to ignore the way her stomach twisted at the sight of the dark water.
The girl in front of her had still not noticed Ivy's presence. From the green-and-grey striped sweater the girl was wearing, Ivy guessed that she was in Slytherin. The girl was running a hand through her hair when she swooped down. Ivy thought for a second that she would fall into the water, but the Slytherin had simply picked up a stone. The girl threw it into the water aggressively.
It flew and skipped before sinking with a splash. The wind howled loudly and Ivy took another timid step toward her.
"You bloody weakness," the Slytherin mumbled to herself.
"Excuse me," Ivy said, trying to make herself heard above the wind. "Excuse me!"
She walked closer, eyeing the water nervously. Her brown hair whipped around her shoulders and she swallowed. "You really shouldn't sit so close to the water. What if you fell in?" she asked worriedly, her blue eyes searching the Slytherin's face for a response. Her knees felt weak and wobbly. She had never stood so close to the edge of the water before.
"Oh. I'm Ivy Bellamy, by the way. Gryffindor, if you can't tell by the scarf." Ivy gestured to the red-and-yellow striped scarf around her neck. "We should go to the shore. It's really too windy to be safe. Please?" she added as a plea.
She really did not feel comfortable at all near the water.
