Hello,
This is very bad news because it seems that my cleanup tool (which is designed to delete images that are no longer in use) has an issue and is deleting images that should not be removed. I've been investigating the cause since yesterday, but I haven't found it yet. I'll check whether I have backups of those images or whether they were deleted too quickly...
My sincere apologies.

I think I understand, at least partially. The image cleanup script checks for images that have been uploaded to the server but aren't being used anywhere. I had set a 24-hour grace period so that images wouldn't be deleted while people were still working on their posts. However, if more than 24 hours had passed, or if the image itself had been created earlier in the past, the script would still delete it. On top of that, there was an issue with an image conversion process at the beginning of July.
This has now been fixed: the cleanup script checks the upload time (rather than the image's creation time) and only deletes images after 31 days if they are not used anywhere.
I was also able to restore the missing images from the backups.

When it's used in a post, an owl, a class, a homework, a profile, a draft... it's kept on the server. If it's not published anywhere on the site, the image is eventually deleted.
It's important to keep this kind of logic in place because people often upload images that they never end up using.
As of today, the site hosts approximately 1.5 million files, totaling 114 GiB of storage.

So if I have an image in a draft, it’s not used, but an image in a submitted post is considered used?Zachary Winslow wrote: Yesterday, 13:40 When it's used in a post, an owl, a class, a homework, a profile, a draft... it's kept on the server. How can an image not be used and still be uploaded?
