River Dolphin vs. Arapaima
This event is part of the Castelobruxo International Capture the Flag event
26TH OF JUNE, 2026 IN THE JUNGLE ARENA
After breakfast on the twenty-sixth of June, excited Castelobruxo students and their visitors gathered by the Jungle arena. The guests displayed a varied compote of nerves: some were excited, some would boast about their prospects of winning, while others, who had heard about the potentially dangerous terrain, would wish that they had never signed up. Nevertheless, it was too late to back out now, as Headmaster Santiago paved the way through green overgrowth that got progressively thicker the further they ventured from the school grounds, for the first teams to claim their bases and hide their flags. Since South America was experiencing its calendar winter, their guests would find the outside temperature pleasant. Meanwhile, the Castelobruxo students and islanders were used to considerably warmer weather.
Reaching the thickest part of the rainforest you could get without taking a trip to the nearby jungle village, they came to a halt. Santiago lifted his head and squinted towards the overhead canopy. The sky was clear. For now. The people accustomed to living in these conditions knew that the rainforest had a tendency to be unpredictable. Rain might begin to fall without warning, but for now, they seemed to have a dry game day ahead of them. After taking a glance around the groups, he thought it was for the best; it would have been a shame to scare them away before the games had begun.
The teams had been named after different Amazonian animals, which the groups were more or less satisfied with. Predictably, Santiago didn't care if they were satisfied about their assigned animal or not.
Before he sent the teams off in the opposite directions, he clarified some of the rules, hands resting on his hips in a casual stance. “This is it, River Dolphins and Arapaimas." Glancing over the first to third years, most of them except for one unfamiliar to him personally, he couldn't help but smirk. "Once you’re in there, you’re on your own. If you see something that looks dangerous, my advice is to not stick around long enough to find out. Me and the judges will keep eyes on the bases.”
“What about fouls?” A student asked, to which Santi only shrugged with an indifferent expression.
“That’s up to the rainforests’ discretion.” A twinkle of mischief briefly broke through his otherwise stoic expression as he added, “Remember, there are eyes everywhere.” Not just human eyes.
Uncertain glances were shared by some of the students, causing the more experienced players to chuckle lightly. Even the Headmaster’s lips tugged into an amused smirk, having seen this happen many times before; each instance was just as interesting as the last. It never got old.
“Well, what are we waiting for? To base!” He clapped his hands, sending them off.

HOW TO PLAY
The game ends when either team successfully retrieved the other teams flag to their base. Team River Dolphin will be starting the game in Zone 1 and Team Arapaima will be in Zone 4 at the opposite end of the arena. There will be at most 10 rounds, each requiring a post of 200+ words. Please make sure you include your character's stats in your post.
During the first round only, each team must state which zone their flag is hidden in to the thread moderator. You may chose to hide the flag in any of the 4 zones. The flag remains in that zone unless successfully discovered or moved through gameplay mechanics. Do not reveal in game where the flag is located.
Each round, everyone in the team must make at least one action from the Capture the Flag actions list, unless they are unable to act due to a status effect or restriction. These actions are zone dependent. The team scores points by making successful flag actions or interceptive actions towards a flag carrier. Please note that players may only move between adjacent zones and cannot skip zones while travelling.
At the conclusion of each round, the zone state map will be updated to reflect all player locations. Players may only target characters who are in the same zone as them at the end of the previous round. If a target moves out of the zone during the following movement phase, the action automatically fails, with the exception of Flag Intercept and non-magical support actions that include a chase mechanic. When performing these actions, the player automatically follows the target into the destination zone as part of the interaction.
If the action fails while chasing, the pursuing player is left behind in the original zone while the target successfully gains distance.
Rules regarding roll resolution, action priority, and other game mechanics can be found HERE.
At least one member of the team must owl the entire teams' action list to @Santiago Peralta before the posting deadline.

International Capture the Flag
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Interacting w/: @Adeline Spinks @Stelle Mims @Mirada Johnson
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
It had been far too long since Robin had been able to play a friendly game of Capture the Flag. The last she remembers was a couple of years before her father had left for his job in America, her cousins and aunties from France had come to visit for a summer, crowding the already cramped house to its maximum. Alongside Robin and her five siblings, her four cousins had added enough hands to have two full teams - something rare amongst the usually isolated family. It was the Summer of a lifetime- especially since the youngest of her cousins was another girl barely older than her. The boys treated both girls equally in dismissing them as "real teammates," saying each counted as only "half a person," so together they were valued at the same as one boy. Something the boys quickly came to regret when the two then proved their abilities in speed and footwork, quickly turning the concept around on the boys to ensure they always got to stick together.
Robin felt perfectly ready to start this game- she loved it as a mundane game she'd play in the field behind the house. Now she would get to play it alongside her best friend, Adeline, at a magical school that could quite literally kill her. Not that she would ever let that happen, of course. To be gotten, you had to be caught, and Robin prided herself on avoiding being caught… not that that has necessarily held up in every game before. Back in Koldovstoretz, during an ice hockey game, she was knocked out in the second round by a single hit. She always prefers to pretend that it just never happened.
This game, though… this would be fun. It was right down her alley as long as she could stay clear of any thieving monkeys and seriously bad luck.
The very handsome Headmaster of Castelobruxo had just dismissed them to their zones, and Robin really couldn't contain herself. Their team name animal was the River Dolphin, and she didn't mind that whatsoever. Dolphins are beautiful animals, she thought. Apex predators, highly intelligent and prone to headbutting. Very reminiscent of her younger self to be completely honest. Robin had a very big biting issue when it came to her brothers as a child. Teeth were a valid weapon in her opinion and never went underutilized. Games like this made her feel like her inner wild child could come out. Maybe it would. Robin hoped it would.
Robin clung to Adeline's side as they approached zone 1, her team's base and starting position. She didn't know where they would hide their flag, but she hoped they could find somewhere that the other team would never find it. Their starting position was surrounded by massive trees and barricade-like roots. The air smelled like firewood after rain, so delicious that Robin had to breathe in a deep sigh of satisfaction. She hoped that all of the zones were as nice as this one. She also hoped Addie and her got to stick together. She'd also be fine being around Stelle Mims, despite embarrassing herself in front of the girl the previous year. She had helped Robin understand her prejudiced views when it came to part-Veelas were wrong, leading to her fight for other-breed rights. The attraction she felt to the dazzling girl didn't feel nearly as devastating now as it once did, albeit still confusing. Robin also recognized Mirada- she'd hosted Robin's first dive into broom racing. Something she'd enjoyed a lot more than she realized she would, leading to her easy agreement to join this here lovely game. They were certainly in for a much needed end of the year treat.

Pam knew... absolutely no-one.
Not in the 'I've only met you once' or 'I remember your face but not your name' way. She had, quite literally, never met any of the people she had been assigned into a team with.
Except Stelle.
Pam knew Stelle.
In fact, she had been the one to track down the girl and convince her to play the game with her.
They'd not seen each other for a what had felt like forever until the girl had somehow found Pam standing in the middle of a rainstorm.
Pam flushed faintly at the memory. It had been a fun day.
I wonder if I'll be able to stick with her.
She scanned the rest of her team. One was a third year. The others... were a mix of first and fellow second years, if she wasn't too wrong.
Pam was a bit... uncertain about who was who, exactly.
Well this was gonna be interesting.
Capture the Flag.
All her knowledge of that specific game came from reading the Percy Jackson books over and over again until she had to stop herself in fear of growing sick of said books. She'd never actually played the game in her life, but it was bound to be fun. Right?
Pam really hoped she wasn't set on fire in the process of it.
Still, she was excited.
After the Castelobruxo Headmaster had dismissed them to their base, Pam lingered for a moment before clearing her throat.
"Um... hi." She offered the others a small, slightly awkward smile. "I'm Pam. Nice to meet you all."
That... counted as socializing.
Feeling as though she'd successfully completed her quota of interacting with strangers for at least the next hour, Pam looped her arm around Stelle's as they neared zone one. "I'm nervous." She muttered to the girl.
Whether she was nervous about the game or the impending social doom remained a mystery.

The Brazilian jungle was loud in a way that Adeline surprisingly didn't mind. The chorus of exotic birds, distant running water, whistling wind, and the chatter of students filled the humid air and distracted the girl from what was to come. If the premise of danger did not lay ahead, Adeline very well may have found herself basking in the nature surrounding her.
To say the Spinks girl had no idea what was going on would be an understatement. Somehow and someway, she had once again been convinced to dive into some strange sport on a whim. Robin was the culprit, unsurprisingly. The two girls and their team made their way to the starting zone side by side. Adeline felt herself relax into the smaller Ravenclaw, thankful for her presence in this strange place. Addie wrapped her arm around Robins, locking elbows before looking down at her, lips settling into a content expression. Despite the array of misfortune the two had encountered together, Adeline still felt safest with Robin.
The drop in her stomach came as a shock. As the girls and the rest of team River Dolphin reached their starting zone, Adeline's smile fell to a concerned frown. She focused on Robin's warm brown eyes. "Please be careful.." she began, her already quiet voice trailing off. Adeline knew more than anyone how fiery Robin was, and she knew that this often sent the girl straight into trouble. Deep in the rainforest was the last place Adeline wanted Robin to find herself in danger. "Don't be foolish out here, Robin." Her low voice sounded stern and unfamiliar in her own ears. "..Please." Familiar heat rushed into the Ravenclaw's cheeks as she faced forwards once more.
River Dolphin vs. Arapaima
Castelobruxo was unlike any forest Stelle had ever known. It wasn't just the heat, nor the humidity that seemed to embrace the air with invisible fingers. It was the constant feeling that everything was alive. Every leaf seemed to listen. Every vine swayed with ancient patience, as if it had witnessed the passage of generations of wizards without ever being surprised by their games. Even the light was different; it descended through the immense canopy of trees in long golden columns that never fully reached the ground, dissolving beforehand among giant ferns, towering roots, and flowers of impossible colors. It was beautiful in a slightly intimidating way.
As she followed the group toward the first area, Stelle looked up once more at the treetops. She remembered the director's words about the jungle having eyes everywhere, and, strange as it seemed, she didn't find it hard to believe. She didn't imagine monstrous creatures lurking among the branches, but rather hundreds of tiny lives curiously watching the visitors bursting into their home with flags, strategies, and youthful enthusiasm. It seemed almost unfair to disturb that peace just for a game. Although, if she were honest, she also felt a thrill that was hard to hide. She had never participated in anything like this before. Capture the Flag sounded like one of those stories her father would have invented to entertain her as a child, mixing expeditions, secret hiding places, and heroes who returned covered in mud but with proud smiles.
Her fingers absentmindedly brushed the wood of her wand as she thought about it until a figure caught her eye. She had met Luuk the day before, arriving by accident (a pleasant one, perhaps?), a brief exchange to get a feel for him. She still felt she should apologize for hitting him. He had seemed polite in a way, with that kind of serenity of someone who doesn't want to draw attention to himself. That intrigued her, and although he didn't seem like the talkative type, she wanted to get to know him before leaving. But she couldn't think about that now! The event—what did he know about him that could help her team? Perhaps that serenity would be useful if things started to get complicated. Because, even though everyone was smiling now, the jungle was still the jungle.
When they finally reached the River Dolphin Team's base, Stelle slowed her pace almost without realizing it. Giant tree roots emerged from the earth, forming veritable natural walls. Some arched several meters above the ground before burying themselves again, creating small shady shelters where moss grew thick and glossy. The smell of damp wood was pleasant; it vaguely reminded her of walks she took with her grandmother after the rain, although here everything seemed magnified, as if nature had decided to forget all limits.
She soon spotted Robin in the group. She gave him a warm smile accompanied by a small wave. She remembered the previous year perfectly, and although she'd been clumsy at first, she could see from afar that she was a different person than the one she'd known back then. There was something comforting about discovering that some people were capable of rethinking their ideas and growing. It didn't happen as often as the world needed.
Shortly after, she felt Pam's arm encircle hers. The closeness brought an even brighter smile to her face before she even heard her words. Stelle turned her head slightly toward her, but didn't respond immediately. She observed the forest first, then the rest of the team, and finally Pam, whose expression seemed to waver between excitement and impending disaster with endearing sincerity. Stelle gently rested her head on her friend's shoulder, sectioning her hair to slowly braid it. She frowned softly as she came across a knot; sometimes having long hair was annoying, but she would never admit it out loud.
"Me too, a little. But I think it means we really care about doing it right"The confession came with a small laugh. She wasn't thinking about winning, or even losing; she was only thinking about not spoiling the moment. She was thinking about returning later, able to say that she had run among enormous trees, that she had heard unfamiliar birds singing from unseen places, and that she had traversed paths where roots seemed to form labyrinths built long before anything else in the world. Win or lose, she wanted to keep that memory intact. As the rest of the team began to gather and organize themselves, Stelle let her gaze wander around the base once more. A tiny blue butterfly flitted past her before disappearing among some ferns. Then a small emerald lizard slithered along a nearby root, motionless for barely a second before vanishing again into the vegetation. And then she thought that perhaps the director had been right. There were eyes everywhere.

With her fellow Durmstrangians at her side, Liliya felt empowered entering the Capture the Flag game over foreign waters. Although hesitant at first, she decided to embrace her competitive spirit, paired with the upcoming Quidditch games that would commence over the summer holidays, and join her school mates in the game she was unfamiliar with.
Glancing over her friends though, the wild child Valeriy and the charming companion Arno, as well as the two less familiar faces of Ivan and Talvikki, the simple presence of her school and new home's might was enough for her to settle into a state of comfort before the games would begin.
Of course, her team was not solely composed of her school mates, and while she had not seen them before, that posed no challenge to a girl as curious of the world and its inhabitants as her. Through some method of prodding and poking, she would surely find fellowship and team work with them.
For now though, she stared down enemy lines, her eyes set on the wild expanse of the Castelobruxo rainforests that laid before her, and the many uncertainties it would hold.
One can only hope they would be good, while secretly wishing for the thrills.

─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Once again in the fabled lands, Arno hadn't forgotten his time at Castelo. Coming back wasn't a happy choice or a breath of fresh air for him, but rather a reminder of what he'd previously left behind. Perhaps the Arno from an year or so before had been mad about this visit. Plotting his escape and finding a way to sneak out and go visit his grandfather.
But the man he'd become today had nested interest among the current residents of Durmstrang as an institution. In there, in those sheer, dehumanizingly cold weather, Arno had found warmth and friends, a notion so cherished he was unlikely to ever give it up; even it offered to return him what he previously had at Castelo.
Arno was quite excited to see the rest of the school and what changes they'd undergone through their time here. He noticed the fellow durmies, some his age, others younger, as he passed a wave of greeting to them all. Arno hadn't really prepared for this game, but he trusted his sense of preservation to wing it enough and if it didn't work out.
There were certainly quite a few faces he could easily lay back on and trust to accomplish the goal themselves.

| XXXXXX | Embarking on a new expedition across the seas, the eldest Baskakova child had never imagined to participate in such an event — doubting having an adventurous personality. A few Durmstrang students had signed up for Capture The Flag, enticed by the prospects of a summer trip before he would travel to the United Kingdom, Ivan listed his own name amongst others he barely recognised — a consequence of keeping to himself throughout the school year. He owned a small collection of geographical books, very few on South America and it's vast jungles, though enough to suffice the child in his endeavours on the excursion from Castelobruxo. Placed into 'TEAM ARAPAIMA', Ivan's features morphed into that of a scowl, discontent with the team name and the respective bonytongue that only resides in this specific region. Most faces he recognised from the confides of Durmstrang, only two he had not recognised. He exhaled as moved along their respective starting zone, scouting the terrain they found themselves in which vastly differed to that of Europe. Blazing heat became insufferable by the second, yet to acclimatise to the weather, though he had readily been prepared with his choice in consuming more water-dense foods during breakfast, namely a vast selection of fruits. "Keep your wands on you, you don't know what you'll come across in these jungles." He spoke clearly in English, each word annunciated perfectly that one would assume it was his first language, Ivan's accent too strong and pristine for someone of his heritage that any indicator of his Russian heritage would fail to meet another's ear. |

Talvikki Tähti hated the heat. The stickiness in the air that came with the humidity, the dryness and irritation of her throat that came with it being dry. The heat, no matter which kind was her mortal enemy. The sweat that quickly formed, making her feel gross was more normal—this formed during any physical activities that she would complete. This would be no different. Something else about Kikki? She hated to lose.
Joining a Capture the Flag competition was not necessarily something that she would have done under usual circumstances. But with a heatwave going through her beloved home in Europe (note the sarcasm), she figured that she may as well travel to Castelobruxo and show them was Durmstrang was made of. Alongside her schoolmates, she felt as though they would be fine. She trusted them. The others placed on their team though? They were a different story. She had trusted someone on Uagadou last year during their broom race and it had gone well, so Uagadou she held a begrudging respect for. But Hogwarts? Beauxbâtons? They didn’t inspire any confidence within the brunette.
“And don’t trust the foreigners with anything important.” She added to Ivan’s statement in Russian, assuming they wouldn’t understand the gruff second-year. She glared at the trees around them. They had to win.

Yay! Claire was glad to be here at Castelobruxo minutes away from playing capture the flag with complete strangers. Most may find that odd that she was happy to be in the heat with people she didn't know. But, Claire was different, at least on the strangers part.
She loved the beautiful, lush plants and trees and the unique, exotic animals. She thought that it was neat that the teams had animal names. But she didn't know what an arapaima was. She would have to ask someone. After all "A stranger was just a friend you haven't met yet." Claire also loved sports. Broom racing especially, but Capture The Flag was sure to be loads of fun for her too.
She flipped her hair back and wished she had brought a hair tie with her. She could certainty use one to keep her hair out of her way now. While doing that she scanned her team. She already knew that it would be first through third years, to be fair. But Claire now noticed that there seemed to be several people from Durmstrang. She wondered if they all knew one another. Well, if that was the case, Claire was not feeling lonely or intimidated. Quite the opposite! She could potentially meet a whole bunch of new friends at once!
