Mother's leave their mark on us in many ways: in our habits, our ambitions, and our values. Behind every witch or wizard is a story that began long before their first wand - traditions, talents, and the influence of the women who helped shape them.
Welcome to the Meet the Mothers Showcase. Here you'll find a chance to step outside your character for a moment and look at the mother behind them. From similarties to complicated legacies, share the faces, stories, and traits passed from one generation to the next.

MEET THE MOTHER
Name: Arabella Elayne Kincaid
Blood status: muggleborn witch, Gryffindor alumni
Face claim: Jenna Coleman
Personality: She was a kind introvert, never really knowing how to quite fit in unless it was with her younger sister, Maggie. She liked to read, loved flowers, liked Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures while attending Hogwarts. After graduating, she worked at a diner to help keep finances afloat as her parents passed away shortly after and it was now her duty to take care of her and her sister.
Relationship with the character: Simon came about from a fleeting romance. The relationship wa brief but it brought a child she loved deeply into the world. She loved Simon very much in the three years they were able to spend together before her passing.
Funny or most emotional fact: Her dreams were to someday open up her own floral shop.
What did your character inherit from their mother?: strong faith, appreciation of music, a kindness that makes people feel safe, a love of family, a nurturing nature and her habit of seeing tenderness in small things, a natural talent in Herbology, a love of sentimental objects, softness in facial features.

Name: June Lynn
Blood status: Muggleborn
Face claim: Natalie Ortega
Personality:
She is a kind but at the same time quite brave character. She was always good with plants and potions, thus her dreams of becoming a healer came true. She is a strict person too, who forces Ava to be disciplined.
Relationship with the character:
Ava adores her mother. She is the reason, Ava went to Muggle school rather than being homeschooled for her pre-Hogwarts studies. She is the link that joins the Ravenclaw to her Muggle roots. Even when she got paranoid a lot when she discovered that she was a seer, her mother stayed up night after night, making sure Ava was not getting any bad dreams.
Funny or most emotional fact:
She always denies it but Ava's father confirmed it, one time while working on an advanced potion at school, her mother accidentally made a potion that turns the drinker's voice into a high-pitched moaning voice. The potion was for an exam and was drunk by the professor himself, thankfully the professor knew she was a good student, thus saving her from failing it.

Personality: Hallie is someone who is never going to let anything stop her in her life. She has big dreams and big plans for the world. She will do anything she sets her mind too, and always has a smile while doing so. This led to her career as a model until she had her children, and is the reason why the sorting hat placed her in slytherin.
Relationship with the character: While Kennedy may be more attached to her father, her and her mother have always still had a pretty good relationship. Although, sometimes Kennedy feels as if her mother’s expectations for her are too much. Her mother remains an encouraging figure who always pushes Kennedy to do her best. Sometimes Hallie wishes Kennedy would be a little less shy, or that her interests extended past birds

MEET THE MOTHER(s)
Name: Andy (Andrea) Bleaklane and Irene Bleaklane (nee Murray)
Blood status: Halfblood (Squib) and Muggle
Face claim: Amy Manson, Rose Leslie
Personality: Andy seems fun-loving and carefree, recklessly including a few too many quips and underhanded comment in her books, her favourite being a little ‘joke’ about the somewhat circular nature of some pureblood families’ family trees. However, only Irene knows the bitterness and self-hatred (unrecognised by Andy herself) that Andy has.
Irene is very different to Andy, still enjoying life but more focused on comforting and keeping her family safe and happy. She is often worried about both Dido and Andrea abut keeps these fears to herself, instead acting like a sort of mother hen.

Personality: Hufflepuff, VERY outgoing, she was quite popular during her Hogwarts time
Relationship with the character: They were very, very close. After her death, Mika felt like she had a hole on her chest where her heart was supposed to be.

Fun fact: She was a journalist!

Personality: Protective and caring, but very dominating and aggressive when she needs to be.
Relationship with the character: Simply put, what with Remy's father taking off faster than paper in a tornado storm, she served as the most protective figure to her son, making him the man he is today. They're close-ish, but Remy is closer to her than the others in the community.
Funny or most emotional fact: She doesn't like human men anymore, the last one made her angry.
What did your character inherit from their mother?: Her grumpiness and aggression, definitely wouldn't keep her stone sandals when she croaks.

Personality: Niamh is a bundle of joyful energy—playful, silly, and incredibly warm. As an Irish mother, she’s the grounding force of the family, known for her sharp moral compass and her ability to be responsible without ever losing her sense of fun.Relationship with the character:
They are best friends. While Grace and her dad are nerds of the magical world. Niamh is the one Grace goes to for everything else. Their bond was built during rainy Saturday afternoons at the London Public Library and sunny mornings weeding the vegetable garden.
Funny or most emotional fact: Niamh is a bit of a "magical tourist" despite living with a wizard. When she first visited Hogsmeade, she accidentally tried to buy a "living" vegetable for her garden from a prank shop, thinking it was just a very high-quality Irish potato. She still keeps it in a jar on the mantle. Grace’s dad has also had to stop her mom from adopting magical pets multiple times. She even had a Pygmy puff and a nifflr before Grace was born.
What did your character inherit from their mother?: Her fierce loyalty and "Golden Retriever" spirit. Grace’s protective nature over her friends comes directly from Niamh’s influence. She also inherited Niamh’s belief that being "responsible" means standing up for the right people, even if it means bending a few rules.

Personality: Alice is a kind, affectionate mother, and as attentive as she can be with the amount of children she has. She is stern, but understanding, and rarely loses her patience. As a person, Alice can be described as a good friend. She is happy to lend an ear or a hand to anyone in need, and takes pride in her relationships.
Relationship with the character: Campion and Alice are on par with his closeness to his father; that is to say, they are very close. She has shown him that he can approach with any problem without being unduly punished, and with a kind ear and a hug to offer. He does lament that he doesn't get to spend much one-on-one time with her, but holds no grudge at this point in his life, being rather asocial himself. When Campion was around four years old and first started insisting he was a boy, Alice allowed him to explore different hairstyles, clothing, and toys. When he started fully living as a boy around 5 or 6, she was his biggest supporter and protector.
Funny or most emotional fact: Alice is a seamstress and regularly makes clothing for her family. Her favorites to do are the annual Christmas pajamas which she spends months on, being a Muggle, and on which she regularly adorns silly patches and embroidery.
What did your character inherit from their mother?: Campion looks visually very similar to this mother. Beyond that, he developed his sense of family, patience (at slowly increasing limits), and right vs. wrong mentality.

What did your character inherit from their mother?: her hair even though you have to look at the roots of his hair to actually see, eyes and the reason Lotus always has a small box of band-aids with him and knows about muggle stuff
Flora was born in America and so was Lotus as she had met Edward when he was on business to America and he decided to stay for her. They later moved to England when Lotus was five to stay with Edward's parents (Lotus's grandparents!) so that Edward could go back to getting a better pay. So Flora and Lotus's grandparents took care of Lotus.
