Gideon "G." Bellix | Gryffindor | First-Year

From a middle-to-low income family. His parents were loving but worked all day, every day, so G. learned to be independent from a very young age. He picked up skateboarding at 6, mostly for transportation since his parents usually weren't around to give rides. Eventually, he found a small community of like-minded kids who also skateboarded, and spent a lot of time with them learning to craft and express themselves through the art of skateboarding.

G.’s not a bad kid. But sometimes his mischief, combined with his inability to back down in the face of arrogance, can create bigger problems, sometimes expensive ones.

You see G. and his crew discovered an abandoned warehouse and found a way to sneak inside. They brought in some old dusty chairs, some ramps and rails, and even a stereo to play tunes while hanging out. It was perfect; they could lounge, hang out, shoot the breeze, and even skate and work on tricks in the abundance of open space in the warehouse. It was a sanctuary, it was their home.

Unfortunately, the warehouse wasn’t actually abandoned, just unused. It was actually owned by a merchant, who called the cops on them after noticing them sneaking in one day.

G. is normally not the type to lash out at others. Although losing their hideout sucked, G. could have let that go. Except that the merchant was an arse. He made up lies about property inside the warehouse getting damaged that simply wasn’t true, just to get him and his friends into more trouble. G. and his friends were not about to let that slide. They thrashed his car, busted out the windows, slashed his tires, and dented it up good. They were caught on camera, and the boys' identities were revealed. The merchant pressed charges on the boys, demanded restitution for the damage, and G’s parents were held financially responsible. Court fees plus the repair damages were more than G’s parents could afford, and they began to struggle to pay rent and bills. G., feeling remorse for his actions, feels responsible for the money and wants to pay it all back, removing the burden on his parents. Although a bit distrustful of his newly discovered magical power, he wonders if it could help him help his parents, and is eager to learn what he can about it at Hogwarts.

At the age of 10, G. was returning home after a day of skating with his friends when he was jumped by a rival gang of skaters. After promptly mouthing off to them (as was his habit), he was cornered in a back alley with nowhere to run. Being an 8-on-1 fight, he had a near-zero chance of defending himself physically. Then, by some unexplainable internal force, a wave of energy was emitted from his body, physically knocking the other kids several feet away, allowing G. to escape while the rival gang sat on the ground in awe, trying to figure out what had just happened.
