When she told her brother about her idea, she expected him to laugh. To call her weird. To tell her to quit being stupid. Instead, he did the opposite.
Kennedy was shy, everyone knew that. With the spring ball coming, she had already decided she wasn't going. The large crowds and awkward conversation scared her, and she knew it would only be mentally exhausting. But as everyone around her chatted about what they were going to wear, who they were going with, and the fun time they were going to have, she began to feel left out. That's when the idea hit her.
What if she had a party, a party for people as shy as her. A party for all the people who wanted to have fun, just not at an overstimulating ball. People could go to the library and read, and if they felt like it, they could talk quietly about their books. So she told her brother, and he actually agreed with her.
"I'm glad your taking in interest in organizing event," He said smiling at her. It made Kennedy flush a little, she was proud of herself too. At the beginning of the year she would have never dreamed of putting herself out there and organizing a party, even if it was a small one. But this was something she was passionate about, and she found herself getting excited. She wanted it to be a simple small event, really just a common place for people to come. As the date came closer, she set flyers in the library, hoping people would see them. She named it "A Book Lover's Ball" and now all she had to do was wait.
