A Book Lover's Ball
A small group of people gathered in the Library, many smiling as they engaged in hushed conversations. Nearly everyone could be found holding at least one book in hand, if not multiple. It was contrast to the Spring Ball currently happening in a different area of the school, the library being much more calm. The host of the informal party stood watching everyone with the biggest smile of all. There wasn't very many people, but she didn't mind, she was just glad to be there. As the night went on, some people settled in chairs, reading whatever they brought with them. Others bonded over the shared love of similar books. It was safe to say that the night was the perfect oppertunity for a get together for a group of book lovers.

Kennedy was glad she had organized the small party. She smiled as people entered with books in hand. At first, people didn't mingle much, but she had expected that. Everyone here had made the choice to not attend the ball, likely because they werent to keen on being social. Normally she was shy too, but tonight it all dissapeared, replaced by excitment. She sat in a comfy chair near the door, greeting people as they came in and giving the occasional book recommendation. After a little bit, she began to float around the room, joining different conversations.

Lily hesitated at the library's heavy oak doors, her fingers lingering on the handle as muffled laughter and music from the distant Spring Ball echoed down the corridor. She smoothed her simple casual outfit, nothing flashy and clutched her worn out copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard to her chest.

Why had she left her room again? The Book Lover's Ball sounded perfect and she never did plan to go to the other ball. Honestly she just wanted to read in her bed alone, but knew she should try and go out, maybe try and make a couple friends. And that's why this little gatherin seemed perfect.
What if I don't fit in here either? Lily had made a few friends since arriving Hogwarts but was still her nervous usual self.
She pushed open the door before she could think herself out of it. The atmosphere was different than from the music she heard on the way here. The library was filled with just afew students, some sitting alone in corner with books, others already chatting quietly together.
Lily felt a sudden feeling that maybe this was the right place for her. It felt perfect as she scanned for an empty spot. She figured she would start with reading a bit and than maybe join someone. Or someone will join me?

A girl sitting alone caught Kennedy's eye, and she walked over to her after making sure that everyone had been welcomed who was going to come. She was nervous, but she figured that it would be natural to talk to someone about book, right? She whipped her hands on her pants, and cleared her throat when she got near.
"Hello, my names Kennedy, and I'm so glad you came. To be honest I wasn't sure how many would show up!" She laughed a little. On the inside she celebrated, she made it through an entire sentence without being extremely awkward. She glanced down at the book the girl had in hand, and her heart fluttered. She held a classic, The Tales of Beedle and The Bard.
"I love that one," Kennedy pointed to the book, "Which story is your favorite? I've always loved the one about the fountain of youth. It seems like I learn a new truth every time I read it. It started as a fun bed time story but now serves as a book full of wisdom, if you only know how to look." Kennedy flushed a little, fearing she might have said too much, but it was easily replaced with excitement as she thought of the prospects that this night of bookish conversation may bring.
