The Devil's Doorway
Homestead Members: @Leo Fenwick | @Shiori Kaito | @Maira Anderson |
@Derek Alexander Jay | @Stella DrakeThe traveller wagons were not just a vibrant burst of colour in the thick green forestry but a symbol of power for those that had left behind their lives in search of peace and training. The history of the Isle was not without its skeletons, war and occupation had devastated communities both magical and not across the world and the Isle served as a sanctuary away from that. It gave the magical world in Asia and Oceania a hope that there was a better choice than the simple survival of hiding.
These were places of reverence to the early sacrifices of the Isle's founders. Magically enhanced to keep their colour so that they would always be a light in the jungle they did not expect the intrusion of darkness to soil them. Wells of tentacle like vines began to slink around their wheels, damaging artifacts beloved by the locals. Paint scraped away as holes were burrowed through the vines desperately seeking what lay within, who lay within. As it broke in splintering wood in its wake it pierced the enchantments of the structures and lurked its way into the magically enhanced interiors to find its prey. Slithering within as the sun began to dawn on the new day it moved with haste eager to fester in the darker edges of the wagons were it could thrive. Where it could feed.
Much to the displeasure of the entity, what it found was not a group of slumbering victims in waiting. Roll: 18 Instead as it burrowed and broke it found a group of individuals beginning to stir as if aware of the danger that was roaming towards them. Whether they were simply early risers or the stories of this place were true and they had gained some sort of unique foresight was unclear, but they would hear the creaks and snaps of wood from above and begin to panic as eery black vines began to worm their way in lurching towards them. Luck had been on their side but would it continue to be?Moderation Note: None of you have yet been attacked by the entity appearing at the edges of the wagon, yet as they appear they are coming from the side where the exit is and as such you would have to move closer to them to escape in the traditional means.

Stella woke to a general sense of unease. A sense that she was used to ignoring. It was early, but Stella could do early. It was also dark. Luckily, she could do something about that!
It was simple enough to grab her wand from under her pillow. The ease of access to it made her smile, it was quite the clever move on her part. Of course, she didn't take much time to preen over her silent victory. No, Stella's first choice of action was to play her favorite card; Being as reckless as she could as safely as possible.
Ilvermorny was a generally safe school, Stella would say. She had heard that Hogwarts was much the same from her sisters and parents. What's to say there was any actual real danger at Tenūsa? Absolutely nothing. So she would be totally fine! It's not like her reckless actions had ever led to anything bad before!
Stella stared at her wand for a moment. Lilah wasn't here. That didn't matter though. Why was Stella thinking about Lily right now? She shook her head. There wasn't a reason. She needed to stop thinking, adventure was calling! Stella flung herself out of bed, barely noting the loss of warm blankets. There were more important things to be focusing on!
"Lumos!" Stella cried out, not bothering to be quiet. She dashed over to the entrance of the wagon, energy bubbling just beneath the surface. Whatever was out there, as there was surely something out there, was no match for the Stella Es Drake!

FINAL MODERATION OF PART ONEThe five in this Traveller Wagon (@Leo Fenwick, @Shiori Kaito, @Maira Anderson, @Derek Alexander Jay, and @Stella Drake) seemed to need their beauty rest, for they slept soundly while the vines entered, and then while the vines left. Screams echoed out from below, and maybe they'd wake up... or not. Stella certainly did, but her Lumos cast came too late, and the vines were already on their way out.
Standing in for Lawrence in this moderation round to end part 1 of the event!
Having slept through the immediate danger to themselves, the quintet were free to leave as they wished, because as if bored by the dreamers, the vines shrunk back into nothingness and vanished seemingly into thin air. Perhaps the group could proceed to part two and meet up with the other residents of the Traveller Wagons and the Rumah Adat... (if they woke up...)
