The Devil Inside
Homestead Members: @Romeo Marchonné | @Piérre Marchonné | @Boram Borisova | @Manu Macedo | @Moray Morcant | @Kanae SuzukiThe traveller wagons were not just a vibrant burst of colour in the thick green forestry but a symbol of power for those that had left behind their lives in search of peace and training. The history of the Isle was not without its skeletons, war and occupation had devastated communities both magical and not across the world and the Isle served as a sanctuary away from that. It gave the magical world in Asia and Oceania a hope that there was a better choice than the simple survival of hiding.
These were places of reverence to the early sacrifices of the Isle's founders. Magically enhanced to keep their colour so that they would always be a light in the jungle they did not expect the intrusion of darkness to soil them. Wells of tentacle like vines began to slink around their wheels, damaging artifacts beloved by the locals. Paint scraped away as holes were burrowed through the vines desperately seeking what lay within, who lay within. As it broke in splintering wood in its wake it pierced the enchantments of the structures and lurked its way into the magically enhanced interiors to find its prey. Slithering within as the sun began to dawn on the new day it moved with haste eager to fester in the darker edges of the wagons were it could thrive. Where it could feed.
This tent was not filled with any ordinary visitors. For it was a tent with many warrior spirits, many survivors who had long since known the troubles of these international visits. Not only that but it had a local someone who would immediately sense the shift, alongside the wolf like instincts of survival from Romeo. The second the tendrils broke through it was a knee jerk reaction to alarm, but what they hadn't known roll: 11 was that not all of the mass had been so destructive. Waking to the scene of danger they would find themselves dismayed to see the entrance to the wagon completely covered in dark festering vines. Vines that were making their way towards them backing them into a corner. It was not any of their first dalliances with danger but could it be their last?Moderation Note: The vines are approaching you all as you back towards the far side of the wagon though no one has currently been affected. The exit is entirely covered with no sign of naturally uncovering.

Awakening early was not unheard of by the eldest Macedo. She was quite used to getting up early to go shovel the alpacas' stalls or practice duelling by the golden pyramid of Castelobruxo before even the first Horned Screamer, a bird native to the area, could let out its earliest yell. To be awakened by vines slithering in, covering the door and the floor, however, was something else entirely, and Manu bolted to her feet with her wand in her hand. She was a trained duellist, after all.
Muttering a curse under her breath in Portuguese - the kind that would have gotten her mouth washed out with soap if any of her professors had been around, not the Dark spell kind - Manu backed into the far corner, away from where the vines were entering. Raising her free hand to her mouth, she placed two fingers between her lips and let out a piercing whistle to awaken her still-sleeping wagonmates: two her age, including the tall knight she had met at one of the Hogwarts balls and with whom she had compared swords, and three younger. A motley mix of Hogwarts, Durmstrang, Castelobruxo, Tenūsa, and Mahoutokoro they made, and hopefully by now they were all awake and ready to face the issue before them. "O! Awake! The plants, they look not friendly," she shouted to the international students with whom she had been placed to sleep during this visit halfway around the world. "We are needing to exit from here or we will stay prisoners."
Manu was willing to take this responsibility into her own hands; her wand waved in an up-and-down angled shape similar to a heartbeat, and she hissed at the vines as if the venom in her voice would cause extra psychic damage: "Diffindo." Hopefully, a good Severing Charm would slice open the path the six of them would need to follow in order to free themselves from the waking greenhouse nightmare in which they had awoken.

The Devil Inside
It was at the insistence of Wen that Momo chose to stay in a homestead for Tenūsa’s open day. If it were up to her, the girl would be with her parents right now, waking up in Lumba-Lumba after not showing up to her dorm the night before. It was the first time the Morcants were allowed to see where their daughter spent her academic years, and she tried to drive home the point that it could possibly be the last time too. But Wen was adamant about something for once and Momo had never seen this side of him, so she took his advice and signed herself up.
If she could summon the spirit of Macan Tutul himself, she would ask for neither insight into her magic nor material goods. Instead, she would convince the man to hex Wen into an early death. With one look at her dukun, she was sure that the founder of the Isle would oblige.
Jolted awake by a sharp whistle, Momo rubbed at her eyes as Manu’s words came through. Plants? Prisoners? What? She took an unceremonious exit off her bed, tumbling to the floor and knocking over some of the extra seashells she’d bought from the Lumba-Lumba vendors a few days ago. They were meant to be gifts for her roommates; pretty decorative things to remind them of their time at her home. She’d hoped to greet all of them properly the night before, but she arrived at the homestead exhausted from taking her parents up to Elang Jawa so they could see the view. All she remembered from her entrance was shoving the shells into her new roommates hands before passing out.
As the memory came back to her, Momo shook it off. None of that mattered now. She shot up from the floor and grabbed both her wand and Wen’s chopstick before pressing herself against the back wall of the room. Manu was bravely leading the charge. Momo recalled her from summer in London, having caught the girl’s duelling match before losing her own. She didn’t remember exactly how Manu herself fared, only that the opposing team was sufficiently beaten when time had run out. A good roommate to have. And smart with that Diffindo too. But what was she casting it at?
Thick vines were pushing into the homestead, crowding the interior and preventing escape. Momo, since coming to Tenūsa, had been surrounded by the flora of the isle, and this was unlike anything she’d ever seen. The tentacle-like things looked unnatural. Is Wen pulling a prank on us or am I about to die forreals?
She took aim with her wand, almost letting the incantation for the Fire-Making Spell slip, but the girl pulled herself back. Fire couldn’t possibly help in this situation. They were in a closed space, and even though the wagons were enchanted, she wasn’t sure the wood could withstand magical burning. And these things were built to honor an important time in history. Maybe it was un-duellist of her, but burning it down didn’t seem right. She wasn’t sure if the inhabitants of the homestead would survive that too.
“Titillando!” Momo yelled, casting at the vines and simultaneously ripping the sheets off the person next to her. She wasn’t even sure if vines could be tickled, but she also wasn’t a fan of harming them. Three years on the island had caused her to gain what was probably too much respect for what mother nature provided. If this was some natural phenomenon, she wasn’t going to stand in its way. The inhabitants of the homestead just needed out. And this could all still be a foolish prank by Wen which would lower the stakes significantly. “C’mon, wake up!” Momo wouldn’t hold the rest of her roommates to her standards though. If they wanted to burn the place down, she wasn’t going to stop them.Action: Casting the Tickling Hex at the vines on the door.

Calming Presence in Effect: Students & Figaro Affected
... the best thing you can hope for is to die in your sleep.
Tenūsa was a remarkable school, though in his recent malaise that he highly attributed to his recovery post-poisoning at Hogsmeade he admittedly was struggling to imagine that he had been particularly active with those that he called friends or even in activities that featured strangers. Since when had his mind become so preoccupied? Since when had so much had so little weight to him? Was it merely brain fog, or was it nervous exhaustion, or was it simply what he did not want to admit was most likely starting to occur as he was coming to the end days of what were intended to be the formative years of his life?
The realization of what those years had formed?
Being with mostly foreign students had allayed most of his fears, especially when combined with the fact that Romeo was there for him to talk to if he needed the presence of someone he had come to love and knew would love him back despite everything that he had put him through for better or worse. Romeo and Piérre's own cat, Figaro... both of them were close to him, loved. But he was not so much a fool to know that the relationship that he held with both were not the only relationships that he should have. The garden was withering, and while he did in part watch on in pity and in distress he yet also feared the act of stepping amongst them to either prune or water--the dried branches of some were the only branches that he had left of them, and for those that perhaps were enraged that the tender of them had not come soon enough he feared the briars and vegetive cat o' nine tails that would come to whip him as natural punishment for his misdeeds.
It seemed one of the few things he was good for in the end, perhaps. Fitting as well.
So when he came out of a disturbed sleep that had left him in a cold sweat with both a shout from one of his roommates as well as a sharp nip from Figaro on the meat of his palm (the poor feline had attempted to rouse him with biscuits first before moving on to more drastic methods), he jerked almost instantly to a position of preparedness. What horrors would await him on this day?
Evidently, it would be darkness, and the walls appeared to be moving.
His heart suddenly beat even faster, pupils starting to dilate into large black pools in an attempt to deal with the darkness.
Trapped.
The lingering remnants of the dream completed their last act of movement in the dark theatre that was all around him, the phantasm of a blue eye and wicked teeth curling into a grin eventually succumbing to the dark and the hallucinatory figures that immediately sprang to life in the absence of light to properly identify any real objects. Somehow, on all sides there were grasping hands. Somehow, there were twisting lips and sneering faces. Faces he recognized, and these were perhaps the most unsettling of them all.
He froze, his mind locking up as he realized that he was alone in the dark. "Romeo...?" His voice cracked, before the horrible return of his memory reminded him that his poor twin was far away and not near: with the rest of the werewolves as of the beginning of the night yesterday evening. Figaro leapt into his lap, trying to pull the lad from his catatonic cold-sweat state. The darkness was everywhere, closing in, crushing, and the faces. The voices which began to heighten in their volumes and insidiousness through the ringing and beating of blood in his ears.
The silver blade suspended in the air.
He squeezed his eyes closed, the intensity of the darkness failing to alter itself but instead favoring hallucinatory blossoms of teal green and red that attempted to prove themselves worthy of a false impression of sight. He could move, he was certain he could, and yet something besides the threat of the vines bound him in his place, pressed against the headboard and fingernails sinking deeply enough into the mattress to cause them to bend backwards.
Get away, get away, get away...
Plants, creeping in the darkness. Continued shouts. His hands flew to his ears to try to douse them out, boxing them for himself as others had before. In his heart, he knew.
He knew.
He had to destroy them. The voices. The thoughts. He hadn't done it the first time, he had failed. Their silencing meant his own. He had to make them end. The end.
But he wasn't just living for himself alone anymore, was he? No. There were others now. If nothing else, he had to see light--for them.
Figaro pawed his knee--both of which were pressed to Piérre's chest in his attempts to shrink into himself--offering in his mouth the boy's familiar wand of yew and snallygaster. Piérre took it quickly into both hands in an iron-grasping fist and then flourished it in a large motion while quickly licking his lips to wet them for the incantation. Focus. He had to focus. Just for this, just for now. Focus. Focus now and then fall to pieces later. "Lumos Solem!"
Anything to get rid of the grasping hands, the twisted faces leering in on all sides, the terrible darkness that could, if it wanted to, crush him totally and without a moment to prepare otherwise.

FINAL MODERATION OF PART ONEWe could have sworn there were six in this homestead, but it seemed that one was missing - and not because of the vines. The five that remained had varying reactions to the entrance of angry plants to their homestead. @Kanae Suzuki and @Boram Borisova slept soundly as the M&M combo @Manu Macedo and @Moray Morcant cast dual spells on the vines covering their exit, slicing and tickling the plants into submission. Similarly, the lone seventh-year boy in the group, @Piérre Marchonné, threw out a Lumos Solem. All three spells hit solidly into the plants, shredding them away from the door.
Standing in for Lawrence in this moderation round to end part 1 of the event!
All five of the present residents of the traveller wagon were free to leave as they wished, though, because as if terrified of the trio of powerful spellcasters (and maybe the two snoozers, too), the vines shrunk back into nothingness and vanished seemingly into thin air. Perhaps they could proceed to part two and meet up with the other residents of the Traveller Wagons and the Rumah Adat...
