Thank You Professors Errand

This is a cozy, feel-good OOC errand where you can write a letter (or note, or scribbled napkin poem) to a/any/all Head of House. Just to say thanks. How did they inspired your character or even you as a writer. Tell them what sort of legacy they left behind.

There is no word limit on this, WC minimum is 50 words.

Mantle of the Empty Seat

A ghostly shimmer of a cloak that settles across your shoulders. It holds no color, just a strange fog, no crest, only weight.

Effect: When worn during moments of leadership or vulnerability, the cloak hums softly with residual magic. NPCs may regard the wearer with more authority than expected.

Your encouragement has been a great help to me to become not only a more creative and confident writer but also a better roleplayer. It will be sad to see you go as you have been a great help to me when I first joined as well as many others. Thank you to all the HoHs for all that they have done! I never actually interacted with any of them, but their hard work was always recognized by everyone. You all made this site enjoyable and provide such great help to any that could need it. You make all new users feel welcome, and your presence was always comforting. Dear Professor Browne,

When we were told you were stepping down - again - I didn't know what to feel as it hit me harder than I expected. You've always been more than just our Head of House, you were the one who reminded us that kindness is strength, that hard work matters, that loyalty is a foundation and not a chain and that sometimes....sometimes, music CAN make everything better. It's not easy to image the house of Hufflepuff without you leading it.

I want to believe what Headmaster Lear told us - that this isn't punishment, isn't danger, isn't scandal: that thi sis just a part of Hogwarts changing. But....it feels like something deepter, like something is shifting around us and no one's saying why. What does it mean that old magic needs room to breathe? What does that have to do with you and all the heads of houses leaving? Why all at once?

I know you might not be able to say everything but right now, just a little truth would help. Please, give us badgers something to hold onto because right now it feels like everything's up in the air. We badgers might be able to weather a storm but we still need safe shelter to do so.

Headmaster Lear said that intern guardians are coming, as are trials of leadership and character. This sounds like a test we didn't sign up for. I want a Hogwarts that's safe, that's whole, that still feels like Hogwarts.

Regardless, if this is how things must go and you are stepping away truly this time, I need you to know how much you've meant to us. You taught us all that Hufflepuff doesn't mean being overlooked but rather it means underestimated until we show them otherwise. You made our house feel like home and gave us pride, purpose, and the courage to keep showing up and doing our best.

If you are leaving - thank you. Thank you for the time you've given us and the way you believed in us. You made us better because it's right.

If you cannot say anything, anything at all, please help us to understand this change or what is coming. I'm listening. We all are.

I still believe Hogwarts can be strong and that it can be safe. Perhaps this change will lead us somewhere good. I just hope we're not walking into something we're not ready for because Hogwarts does tend to do that to us.

I hope, no matter what happens, you'll still be with us - even if not as Head of Hufflepuff than in spirit. Hufflepuff is strong because you made it so and I hope we make you proud.

I've been on this site for 7 years, and in my entire time here the community has stayed safe and friendly. It's been a really good experience and has taught me a lot. It must be an enormous amount of work, which is why I've never felt confident in applying for any position. You have all done an absolutely stellar job. Thank you for all your efforts!

To the departing staff members,

Thank you for your time and effort these many years on Hogwarts.io. As a website that is volunteer run, it simply would not exist without the time and effort that you've put in. Moderating a site like this is incredibly difficult, time consuming and emotionally taxing at times. But I hope you know that you have created and maintained a place that players love and enjoy. I wish you the very best on your future endeavors, and I hope you get some time back to focus on what drew many of us here in the beginning: the writing.

Dear professors and heads of houses,
I’ve been on this site since October of 2022, and a lot has changed in my life since then. It’s extremely difficult to balance online life with real life and I imagine you all have similar struggles. So, I just wanted to thank you all for everything.

All the hard work you do on this site is not appreciated enough and it should be talked about more, so really, I just wanted to give you all a wholehearted thank you.
