The last 2 weeks of school passed by in a blur. Reyna confined herself to reading in the library and pacing around her room. Her roommates and friends noticed this new behavior but gave her space because she was till mourning.
He officially passed June 12, 2025. The funeral was slated for July 15, 2025. She had already received the invitation. She was allowed to bring a guest but she wasn’t quite sure who that guest would be. She was thinking of asking Linda but maybe she just wanted to keep it only for family. She had also barely talked to Linda in the past few weeks, so that might make the whole conversation a little awkward.
The other strange thing that happened was that she got an invite to be the speaker at the funeral. She would essentially be the eulogist and write eulogy for her Grandpa. She wasn't quite sure she wanted to accept this offer or this honor as her mum called it, but she had a feeling her Grandpa would have wanted her to do it. She was the writer in the family after all. So she accepted it.
And now it was officially one month since he had passed and 3 days before the funeral would start and she still had no clue what exactly to say. The funeral was taking place at the house and chairs and decorations were being set up to commemorate him. A lot of people knew her Grandpa, and therefore a lot of people were hanging around the house for some odd reason, waiting for the funeral to begin. It was three whole days before the funeral? Why?
Likely her mum had asked them to help, but the whole house was chaotic. And everyone seemed to love the chaos. Everyone but Reyna. Her grandmother liked being busy and her mother well, was always busy. Her father was at work most of the time anyway and paid no mind to it. And when Reyna wanted peace, all she heard were the shouts of people asking others to move.
She couldn't write in a chaotic environment. So she avoided the crowds and ventured into the woods behind her house. The only peace and quiet she could ever get around here. She sat on her favorite stump under her favorite tree and let herself relax. She hovered the pen over the paper and let her writing flow out of her fingertips. It took her a while to get it down right but a few hours later she read over her work and smiled. It was perfect, the perfect eulogy for her grandpa and it was written with pure love.
